Unhappy ???? Too long of a wait to be seen and treated, now I have a dog in heaven and a bill of 600+. My dog was Dx with Parvo after 2 tests. Late response in my opinion from the healthcare workers, MD included and have a attitude when I address the wait time.

The doctors and everyone here at bluepearl saved my pups life at the start of the pandemic. They also took great care of her in Sept when she need knee surgery. They treated her like one of their own. They answered any and all questions and concerns I had. As well as kept me updated on how she was doing. Many people have to be understanding that like many vet offices they are short staffed and overwhelmed trying to save our fur babies. They are doing everything they can while stretching themselves thin. So thank you bluepearl.

Dr. Book saved my dog's life! Our 20 yr old Chihuahua's trachea collapsed in February and he put a stent in there. Almost a year later and our little man is loving life! The staff is great, also!

I came to get prescription refill for my dog. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes

My pooch and I are over the moon with BluePearl staff and medical personnel, especially Dr. Niedzwecki. From front desk greeting to complimentary follow-up with vet, the entire group made dealing with a potentially life-threatening problem much more tolerable. The price was reasonable and significantly lower than the "worst case" estimate. They didn't do extra just to jack up the costs which was appreciated.

Today my dog was choking and convulsing. My vet office said call Blue Pearl. Blue Pearl said sorry- we don’t have emergency care available today. An emergency vet who doesn’t handle emergencies??

I'm not going to give this place a horrible review because the services they provided saved my dogs life. I had to travel to this facility from Corpus Christi upon the fact that my dog needed an emergency blood transfusion to save his life due to the lack of canine blood in my town. Our dog was evaluated and we were told what we already knew. What happened next seemed more like buying a vehicle than saving my pets life. We were present a sales menu um I mean treatment plan with a high and low levels of treatment. The costs were high. Yes I want the best for my friend but we couldn't physically afford the cost. So the nurse said let me go talk to my manager....I mean the Doctor. She came back with a new sales menu...I mean treatment plan. It was still beyond what we could afford. The nurse kept pushing us to call our friends, family, and credit companies to come up with the down payment...I'm sorry I mean deposit. We told the nurse the plan wouldn't work, so what did she say. Let me go talk to my manager, I mean Doctor. Sorry I keep messing that up. She finally brings us in a treatment plan/ sales menu that works for us. Could have sworn I heard her say "we got a deal"...jk...she didn't say that but might as well have. We went back to our primary vet today and the Vet was so apologetic about our experience with Blue Pearl. Blue Pearl did what I paid them to do,the blood transfusion saved my dogs life. We are very grateful for that. If we ever have to travel out of town again for emergency Veterinary services we will avoid Blue Pearl as much as possible. PS....No reply needed from you Blue Pearl.

Blue Pearl saved my dog's life! Although fully vaccinated (from another clinic), my 8 month old lab contracted Parvo from a local obedience school. He was in rough shape and I immediately took him to my local clinic. They advised me that his best chance of survival was the 24/7 emergency care offered at Blue Pearl. I called from the parking lot, and the receptionist answered promptly and was very polite on the phone. She took my info, and a vet tech, Heather, met me in the parking lot. We carried my dog inside so as not to further contaminate anything. I then met Dr. Edwards who immediately examined my dog and explained the situation to me. Dr. Edwards called me that evening with an update and again early the next morning. I also got a wonderful call from Heather the next night to tell me that my dog had began eating again. Over the weekend, my dog's care was transfered to Dr. Niedzwecki, and she also called me early each day to let me know exactly how my dog was doing while in critical care and took the time to answer any questions I had and explained everything very thoroughly. Eventually, he was deemed well enough to come home and we picked him up. The front desk staff was always very nice and helpful, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the care he was given during his stay. Thanks again to Dr. Edwards, Dr. Niedzwecki, Heather, Sam, and all the staff there! We were so worried about our puppy, and their expert care and excellent communication made us feel very comfortable that our doggo was in good hands.

Overpriced!!! They took $800 from me just to exam my dog then told me I need to pay an additional $4,000 for surgery or $200-$300 to put my dog to sleep smh. I continue looking and was able to take my dog to VCA where I paid $1,700 for the same surgery.

The "vet" there is such a b****! She has zero compassion, horrible attitude, she shouldn't be in practice if she feels slamming doors are answers or rolling eyes, our dog is going thru difficult times and she doesn't care except for her pay!! Stay away from them

I have no doubt that Blue Pearl saved my dog. He came in with very low blood pressure and internal bleeding that we now know was coming from a large mass in his liver. They saw him quickly and made him stable until he could have an ultrasound to determine the problem. They suggested surgery as the best option and performed it the same day. I spoke with two doctors and his surgeon during his stay at the hospital. They were all very professional and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. I am so grateful to them for saving my baby!

Beware and read the reviews! We brought in our dog because she was unresponsive. The doctor did not care and said our best beat would be to put her down that day! Or offer surgery that would cost 8,000 dollars. I turned down the offers and let him know I was going to talk to my vet and take my dog home that evening. He was so demanding and kept pressuring us to put her down because she was not going to make it. I took my dog to her vet that morning and there is still hope! The vet gave us more time with our dog. She added liquid natural medication that has slowed down the bleeding. Our dog is not suffering but still active and alive after two weeks of the ER visit. Always get a second opinion with your vet and have faith. We are still loving our dog.

This used to be my go to place but never again. How can you not have a vet on the weekends!!!! We ended up going to Mission who was wonderful! Get your act together!

Dog is dying and was told they have no Dr there to help but we could call back in 45 mins to see if one has arrived. Take the name Emergency out of your GD company name.

Absolutely the worst place ever! I called numerous times from home and on my way there. Only able to get their out going message which stated high call volume and to just come over. Empty parking lot. 1 client waiting inside. Phones not ringing. 2 employees at the front desk and they tell me there isn’t a vet available there and then handed me a sheet listing other animal care places. Don’t waste your time. Luckily for us, it wasn’t life threatening or we would have lost our dog wasting our time to get there. How can you claim to be a 24/7 emergency pet center and not have anyone there to handle emergencies. Shame on you Blue Pearl!

Kind, capable, and caring physicians, but over the course of the past year or so... an increasingly unresponsive staff. Telephone calls go unanswered, messages left go without response, the situation has devolved, now, to an unacceptable level. If you require refills of prescriptions - and you're not in a position to purchase from their in-house pharmacy (e.g. you live a distance away, you're traveling, etc.) - you may as well just forget about it.

Had a wonderful experience here. Our puppy has a hairline fracture and they got us in right away. We didn’t have to wait at all in the lobby and they took care of us immediately. We met with two doctors/surgeons and they didn’t recommend surgery due to many factors and I felt like I trusted their opinions and recommendations for treatment. I feel like they cared a lot and so that’s something I appreciated during this difficult time where our baby is hurting. Thank you for excellent care!

Blue Pearl was awesome with our cat Blair. They found out the problem almost immediately but unfortunately it meant end of life for her. We could not believe how comforting they were to us. My husband and I were both blubbering almost hysterically. They were so kind and let us be. I'm sure we were taking up a valuable room but we were never rushed. The receptionist even came into our room so we could pay the bill. That let us have a graceful exit without eyes on us. (cause I'm sure the waiting room folks could hear us). Really good experience albeit sad.

Our dog, is receiving great service for a wound he has on his paw. They have shown great interest in letting us know what is happening each step of the way.

Brought our dog in for a quick look. Worried because he hadn't eaten in a day and a half, yelping with the slightest touch. We were told that he had some pain on his back and they could give him a shot. We of course said yes. Problem is that it took 4 hours! What the heck! Waiting room not full. There was no one at the reception desk forover an hour. A gentleman came in with his puppy with Porcupine Quills in his mouth and no one to receive him! He walked out! There was plenty of food delivered while we waited. Yes, you need to eat but that is just poor management if you can't have someone at the reception desk and rotate your staff. Hope to not come back here anytime soon.

I started my evening at a different emergency vet and they unfortunately did not have the proper resources and staff to keep my dog alive if she went down hill over night. I was told to take my dog to Blue Pearl because they did have the resources and I was hesitant because of things I have heard about Blue Pearl. The emergency vet I was at assured me that she would make sure to call Blue Pearl and explain what was going on and how bad of shape my dog was and would send all blood work paperwork. I get to Blue Pearl at midnight and sat there for 4 hours even though they knew how bad of shape my animal was. Once I was seen by the vet, it was decided that my dog needed to stay overnight and get the ultrasound first thing in the morning. The morning vet called me and broke the news and I made the tough decision to put my dog down. Once I got back up there, the vet was great. I cannot remember her name. She was understanding and not pushy. The vet tech on the other hand, she was out of line. She kept pushing the surgery on me. She would not give up. She kept saying how good my dog was feeling and my dog was in fact not okay. I know my dog, she didn't. The surgery was pretty pricey and I feel like she was trying to get me to change my mind to get more money out of me. The surgery was 50/50, her quality of life after surgery was unknown and didn't know exactly what we were up against until the vet got in there. I do not appreciate the vet tech trying to get me to change my mind. I knew I would be charged a consultation exam fee but they also charged me a transfer fee. Why? To print out blood work paperwork and make me wait another 4 hours when they told the previous animal hospital that they would get her in when we got there? She sat there and suffered. Ridiculous. Only good experience I had was the morning vet that I dealt with and the super sweet receptionist that was working when I picked up my dogs remains after being cremated.

They wouldn’t answer there phone so we drove all the way there with a sick dog. They weren’t taking any new patients so they weren’t answering the phone. Front desk staff were indifferent and cold to the situation. Just sent us away with a blink of an eye. Bad service and communication is bad. Stay clear.

Thanks Dr. Carballo and staff - you’re amazing!!! It’s clear that you all genuinely care about the animals and the pet parents that you serve. I’ve never had a better experience with an animal urgent care clinic in my life. Our dog was bitten by another dog over a holiday weekend and your staff was super helpful, friendly and kind while caring for her. We won’t take our dog anywhere else for her immediate care needs but we hope, for her sake, she’ll never NEED to see you all again. 10/10 would recommend. Don’t take your animals anywhere else in San Antonio.

They saved the life of my Chesapeake bay retriever, he ate something that he wasn't supposed to. Top notch facility. To all the reviewers complaining about money, yes the doctors and staff here ought to be paid well for their services.

Showed up with my dog who was vomiting and could not stand up on a Sunday knowing this was a 24/7 emergency vet office open and was told they do not accept new patients right now. Absolutely ridiculous, why would they have returning patients in an ER?!!

They are a joke ! Emergency hospital ? Right ! Called at noon and and I was told to cal ll back at 7!that they were busy. I called back at 7 and then I was told that if my pet has not been seen there before they couldn’t take her ! I had two other dogs seen there before too the tune of $5000 total. They couldnt help or cat that is in extreme pain with an eye that is sealed shut and draining okie crazy ? Emergency hospital ? That’s a laugh! Please don’t waste your time or your money. I’ll update this post to let you all know where I get care for my cat so you can try there before coming here !

Hey, bluepearl why does it take 5 hours to even get a history on my dog. Got here 9pm, currently 2:21am and still waiting on a tech to talk to us. I understand sicker dogs come first, but no one is free for 2 minutes to come check on us? In the other hand, your staff did have enough time to order McDonald’s to be delivered at midnight. Great time management skills!!! Update- 6am I finally got into a room, not vet yet. Suggestion for management, maybe it would be a good idea to tell people it will take 10+ hours to see non-critical animals.
