We love Oliver. We always feel that our dog is in good hands. We have a 1.5 year old golden retriever who is VERY energetic and at times, unruly. I’m sure he drives the vet and vet techs absolutely crazy, but they always come out with only nice things to say about him. It’s a bit expensive, but we are paying for quality. It has never felt like a ‘money grab’ type of place. They are really easy to contact (we’ve never gotten their voicemail and have never been on hold for an extended period). They have even stayed after their closing hours to finish taking care of our sweet boy.

The absolute best! Very thorough and caring! Diagnosed my kitten correctly and prescribed an eye drop which cleared his problem within a couple days. I went to a couple vets before I gave this place a try. This will be the only vet my animals will be going to from now on.

We've had nothing but positive experiences with Oliver Animal Hospital. They are comprehensive which was a pleasant surprise for us since we've been so used to getting vague follow-up from previous vets. They also stayed late (after closing time) to make sure our baby had all the procedures he needed. Very happy!

These folks are the best veterinarians we have had for our dogs and cats during our 34 years living in Austin. They are kindest and most experienced group of professionals we have encountered. Dr. Oliver and her excellent staff have been those we absolutely trust we the care of our 7 cats and 8 dogs that have been our much loved companions over most of those years.

These vets and techs are AMAZING. We’ve had our dogs for 5 & 3 years and these vets have taught me things about my giant breed dogs that no other vet ever had expertise to educate me on. Our fur babies are always happy when they arrive and leave. Dr. Oliver and Dr. Ussery both take their time to explain their findings to me and answer all of my questions. With their help my dogs have lost weight, gotten on a diet that prevents one fur baby from waking me up to go out every night, gotten great care when one ate some furniture foam, and every other little thing our dogs need. I can’t praise them enough. I trust them fully and wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else.

Oliver Animal Hospital is the best Veterinary Hospital in South Austin, if not all Austin IMO. Friendly-Expert staff, Amazing Doctors and a top notch facility. I can't think of another place to take my Great Dane, under their care he's remained exceptionally healthy even past 7 years.

I can’t say enough good things about this animal hospital staff and Dr Oliver in particular. Our dog was a first time patient having an issue, and unfortunately her issue turned out to be fatal. Over the course of that week while we tried a few treatments, the staff and Dr Oliver were so available and attentive, and their level of care was beyond compare. She took her time and I never felt rushed. Dr Oliver even called me after hours to check on her. When we made the difficult decision to let her go, she went above and beyond to make sure that I had peace of mind from the emergency clinic with my decision. I would recommend anyone to Oliver Animal Hospital.

We took our dog to Oliver for nearly 8 years. At the beginning, it was a wonderful & trustworthy establishment. Management changed several years ago, and it is clear that profit became their number one goal. They kept pushing unnecessary and aggressive procedures. And as a pet owner, it is very difficult to discern these unethical practices as we love and will do anything for our pets! In addition, we recently found that the 6 month bordetella schedule they had us on was completely unnecessary (we never board our dog)! It is only needed annually - so with the extra office visit & vaccine cost, we paid nearly $1000 that we shouldn’t have. While the vet techs are great people, I wouldn’t trust management to make decisions based on what is best for your dog, only what is best for their bottom line.

We’ve been with Dr. Oliver for over 5 years with our 7 dogs. We are very happy and satisfied with the care and services provided. She is very knowledgeable and transparent with each of our dog’s plan of care. As a health care provider, we never felt taken advantage of unnecessary tests, procedures and medication prescribed. Her staff are very nice and skillful. Her clinic is exceptionally clean. We highly recommend Dr. Oliver to our friends and family for her excellent and professional expertise.

I have been going to Oliver Animal Hospital for years and last week had to put down one of my dogs. In my life I’ve had to do this a few times before. It’s never a pleasant experience but Dr.Oliver and team went above and beyond making the experience better than I experienced in the past or expected. She made sure that me and my husband were comfortable as well as our dog. The room was so tranquil and everything about the experience was handled so professionally (even during Covid). Again, she has been my vet for years and will continue to be as I am so thankful for her and team and all they do!!

I cannot express in words how appreciative we are for Oliver Animal Hospital. Dr. McClure walked us through the decision making process for our Banquo to get a kidney transplant. Since his successful transplant at the University of Gerogia, she has helped us every step of the way. Dr. Nyquist helped us figure out how to help our very codependent kitty, Bia, mostly get over an elimination problem. Plus, our dog, George, and kitty sidekick, Sherlock, love it there. A special shoutout to Liz, who loves our animals as much as we do.

Oliver Animal Hospital is a vet experience like no other. Dr. Kate Oliver & her team are EXTREMELY professional, on top of it, responsive, and passionate about the care of my pets. The amount of detail that goes into every aspect of their clinic is superior and unlike any other vet. Dr. Kate & her team of doctors are also the most knowledgeable vets I have ever met. I would strongly recommend this clinic.

Not sure if they lost my dogs records or what but put in a request for the next round of heart worm prevention medicine, was told I needed to bring my dog in to be tested since it was a year since she was tested last. (Not a problem) Then the office told me my dog was not up to date with rabies vaccine, she had been boarded three weeks prior and I know my dog has all her vaccinations. My dog had been seen two months prior for a wellness visit, they told me that in order to bring her in and get tested for heart worm they needed to do a checkup as well... my dog had been seen TWO MONTHS PRIOR. The fact that if I had listened to them my dog would be double dosed with rabies vaccination is unbecoming. We have lived in three different states and I am shocked and disappointed in the service we received. Would not suggest.

So very upset with yesterday's experience. I was told my dog needed surgery to repair a cracked nail at my Schnauzers rear paw, this happening days after the first surgery just 2 days prior of the front paw ( same diagnosis) I was told to bring him in at 7:00/7:30 a.m., being sure to sedate him 3 hours prior to bringing him in - that meant waking up at 4:00 a.m. to administer this medication. Long story short- they did not begin his procedure til 2:00 p.m., at 5:30 p.m., after he was under full anesthesia I was told the rear paw was fine, however the teeth cleaning which was decided upon because he was "going to be under full anesthesia anyway, save money and have it done at the same time" revealed needing 12 extractions - something that definitely could have waited, at least til February when many Vet clinics offer dental discounts. We were called at 7:30 pm and told our Schnauzer would be ready for pick up at 8:30p.m.! My Schnauzer was kept there over 12 hours! 7 hours just sitting in a cage, partially sedated!!! His paw should have been evaluated before full sedation so as to not perform a nail repair surgery that was not needed! This is December, definitely not needing unnecessary expenses of $1,500.00 dollars, especially after already paying $960.00 for the first required surgery and after care! I will not be returning. Wanted to add a follow up, my apologies to Oliver Veterinary for not doing this sooner: After making my feelings known to the staff, I was contacted by the doctors who both worked and helped with the care of Sir Francis, my Schnauzer. There was in fact a considerable time delay for the actual procedure because my Schnauzer is not your typical Schnauzer. He has a severe anxiety disorder, and because of it, the typical meds used to relax, and sedate him were not working. I was informed they had to wait and take precautions before giving him anything stronger, especially after it was noted in his chart that there was a horrible reaction from a previous procedure done one year prior. So, after having everything explained in detailed, I was wrong to have pre-judged the perception of circumstances. Sir Francis recovered quite well, and we are still happy continuing his care with Oliver Veterinary :0)

We first began seeing Dr. Oliver after some bad experiences at a nearby vet office. Dr. Oliver and her staff are really exceptional. She's gone beyond what we normally consider great service and really takes time to talk with you about what's going on. She explains things well, so I never feel rushed. You should plan to be there a bit (we've never had a "quick" appointment unless we're dropping off a pet), but it's worth the time.

Always caring and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I had to change vets because they're just too far from me. You will not be sorry with choosing this vet!

Do you have a kitty who hates the vet? These guys love kitties! My elderly scaredy cat was pampered with a early appointment (no dogs in the waiting room) and a warm bed already laid out on the examine table. All the staff was so good to him! Calm quiet energy, subdued lighting and special "aroma therapy" pheromones spray helped my kitty stay calm and happy throughout the exam! PS They're good with dogs too!

The best group I have ever dealt with. Your pet comes first. I will never use a different vet for my animals. A very caring staff.

The entire staff worked my sick dog in, without every meeting us. The vet called me mid afternoon and explained EVERYTHING to me. Everyone at this clinic is warm and caring. Plus, this clinic was recommended by another veterinarian!
