I have used this clinic and Dr. Joe Stark for years and in my opinion they are the best. My dog has been treated there for routine care and several middle of the night or weekend emergencies. No matter the time or the illness they provide excellent care. I’ll never go anywhere else!

Dr. Stark is the most thorough vet that I’ve ever taken my fur babies to. He is kind, understanding, attentive, professional, and reliable. He is one of a kind.

Used this vet for 3 years, but had to move. When I was back in Lake Charles and needed to bring my cat to an emergency vet, they told me to bring the cat to Lake Area for additional bloodwork after his overnight stay. Lake Area turned us away, saying that they weren't accepting new clients.

I’ve been taking my pets to Dr Stark and Lake Area Animal Hospital for ten years now and I feel this is where they need to be any medical attention. I trust them with my loved ones.

Needed a vet to take care of my cat for a few days after he was released from the emergency vet. They were absolutely fantastic. They did some laser therapy that reduced his swelling a bruising (didn't charge me!) and were very motivated to getting him better and getting him home.

Dr Joe Stark is the best. I have brought all my fur babies to him over the years. He takes pride i his work.

Dr. Stark is a well-known and well-loved veterinarian in Lake Charles, and it’s easy understand why if you’ve ever brought your pet in to see him. Although he has a large practice and is I’m sure a very busy man, he always treats pet and person with the utmost care and compassion. This is so much more than his profession, it’s a true calling. Wonderful and caring staff! Dr. Joseph Stark and all of his staff are wonderful beyond words! We live in Ragley, La. and pass by many other animal clinics to get to Lake Area Animal Hospital. Very attentive, professional and caring! Never in a hurry to rush you out the door. Extremely thorough in explaining every detail of our pets concerns and needs. I highly recommend LAAH to all of my friends and family!

So this is a decent vet when you live in Lake Charles but as soon as you move, getting correct info and records from them is a nightmare. My dog had gone there since she was 6 weeks old. During one round of shots she had a major allergic reaction, went into anaphylactic shock and the only reason she didn’t die is because I barely made it before closing and Dr. Mcmahan gave her a big dose of Benadryl. They never clarified which shot it may have been, they never notated it in her chart and she had 2 yearly shots done. We moved to Beaumont Texas and I needed to get a new vet and transfer her records. I asked them 3 times to fax them over. They never did. I asked them to email them to me. Then when I received them there was no mention or notation of her emergency trip and allergy. This is obviously important for me to tell the New vet so when I called to ask if they had any info or could help me figure it out the receptionist got an attitude, was so unhelpful, and basically told me “well I’m sorry there’s nothing we can do.” So I may just have to watch my dog almost die again because of negligence due to the staff for not writing proper notations in pet records. Price wise they are so-so. But the doctor himself is good, and a super friendly guy. (Dr. Mcmahan)

Very good experience at Lake Area Animal Hospital. I brought a kitten in with injuries that resulted in having one of her eyes removed. Dr. Adam was very kind, understanding, and explained the surgery in detail. He also spayed her. Accommodating as far as appointments and polite office staff.

I cannot say enough how amazing this place is and the staff and Dr are so friendly and caring when dealing with my puppies. I will be taking all of my animals there (2 cats and 2 dogs) from now on.

Everything was great. I wouldn't think of bringing my four-legged baby anywhere else.

Monday morning around 6:30 I called for an appointment for my new dog. They didn’t have any openings to see her until 1-2pm. Once I explained what was wrong with her they told me to bring her in between 7am-9am so they can review her health and begin treating her. We showed up at 7am and they were treating her by 7:10am. They let us know everything that was happening with her and didn’t leave us in the dark for any of the treatment. We were genuinely terrified of what the bill was going to look like but luckily it wasn’t expensive at all and was cheaper than we expected. Since our visit they have called to check on our girl and ensured if we needed anything to let them know. When we got our dog she was on the edge of death because of this wonderful group of people she is now at home with us, able to eat and walk again. We cannot express our gratitude enough. We will be recommending them to anyone we know and returning if our girl needs anything.

Dr. Stark and the staff of Lake Area Animal Hospital are very professional and compassionate. We have been using him as our vet for years and are never disappointed with their services. We also adopted a cat from their office a couple of years ago and we have had nothing but wonderful service from this vet.

Doctor was good so was technicians. Older lady at the front desk was very rude. So unprofessional will not be going back!!

this clinic is hands down the best vet's office in swla! i am, and have been completely satisfied with the experience, and staff for about 25 years now. i highly recommend them. compassion, and care of my animals thru the years, have been as if they were dealing with their own personal animals...

Lake area animal hospital has the most amazing staff. The compassion an helpfulness is beyond compare. The doctors go above an beyond to help even in the most sorrowful times. I would never trust any of my furry, scaley or otherwise family members to anyone else then dr. Stark an his whole crew

Castiel's neuter didn't traumatize like it might have, thanks to all the attention he recieved. Wonderful staff!

The Staff is hardworking and nice!! On the other hand managment can be rude to their staff. If you want to keep an amazing staff that loves animals, you should treat your employees better. There is a big turn over in employment here - that should speak volumes!!
