Best kept secret in Killeen! The American Legion 223 is home to the Koko Cafe! Yes, they serve the expected local Hawaiian and Samoan style grinds... But you gotta try the ahi poke bowl! OMG! To die for! This IS the BEST poke in central Texas! Google it, GPS it, cause it's worth it! We will definitely be returning! Oh yeah.... The chicken katsu is BOMB too!

I stopped into the Legion today to pick up a membership form. I had belonged to Post 428 in St Cloud, Minnesota but since moving down here to Texas in 2015 I hadn't renewed my membership. But I had planned on it and today seemed like a good day to get back to the Legion. I pulled up to the front doors and they were propped open with a nice neon sign saying "open" very visible. I walked in the door and was excited to pick up my membership form. Two steps in and in spite of the front doors being open, I was hit with a wall of cigarette smoke so heavy that I was wishing that I had a gas mask. No one looked up to say hello but the pretty little bartender asked if she could help me. I asked for a membership form and she gave it to me. There were about 4 or 5 people sitting at the bar with cigarettes burning in ash trays. I took the membership form, but was already realizing that joining Post 223 was probably not going to happen. It's a shame, I was reading were membership is down and there is doubt that the Post will make it next year, and that's in spite of the fact that next year will mark the Post's 100 year anniversary. Too bad we can't clean it up and boost membership. The 100 year anniversary is something I would have loved to have been a part of, but no one wants to come in and have a drink with a friend when you walk out stinking like a dirty ash tray. Not to mention the health risks of second hand smoke!

Great memories here. All was good people with kind hearts.

They had a wonderful Christmas dinner.

The people here are by far some of the friendliest people I have ever met . We held a memorial service there just today and I was so thankful for their help. I recommend this place to anyone. I'll be back just to hang out and have drinks with friends for sure
