I’ve been coming to this place for years. They do a great job at a reasonable price. My family and I trust them with all our fur-babies. They also do great work helping the rescue community.

We have taken our goldens here for vet appointments since they opened. What I love about this vet is that if you tell them you don’t want your dogs to have unnecessary immunizations, they don’t badger you. The staff and vets are friendly and knowledgeable, and their prices are very reasonable in comparison to other area vets.

I love my fur babies with all of my heart and there is no other place I'd take them! North Durham Animal Hospital offers AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE and THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS! I am really intense about care for my fur babies and they understand how much I care. Everyone is willing to help and assist. The reception staff are excellent guides to help you and the Techs are patient... The Hospital Manager Brandon is someone you can always count on...and Drs. Ozak and Dawson are so amazing! I have cats with special needs and Drs Ozak and Dawson truly have helped them and continue to do so. They stepped up when others wouldn't and Miguelito is a living testament to their professional acumen! I feel lucky and blessed to have found this place! Thank you to All at North Durham Animal Hospital! ????????????????

Today I had my first and last visit at this vet. This vet is a low cost vet, they quoted me over $300 to run an x-ray, bloodwork, and some other tests on my cat. I asked them if they could just try to do the bloodwork first to see if we could find anything. They asked me for my cats records which I handed to them and they took her back. After waiting for over an hour after confirming that they were going to do some bloodwork and start my visit at $185, I had to call back to ask if they were ready for me to come back in to talk to them about what they had found, and they said to come in, in about 5 minutes. The vet told me that they had found nothing abnormal and that my cat probably just had an upset stomach, and there was no signs of any blockages etc. so no need for an x-ray. I wondered why they would ask upfront to do so many different testing that would be so expensive if they were low cost vet. Finally, when I went back to my car to leave I realized that they hadn’t given me back to my records for my own pet that I had handed to them when I walked in. When I went back inside I said “ I don’t believe you handed me back the paperwork that I handed you“ and one of the women from the front desk went to the back room to grab my pets records that I had brought in. Overall this place is NOT low cost they care about money (which I get that business is business) but the wait for what was being done was absolutely too long, and the demeanor of the one front desk woman ( carelessly misplacing my pet’s records). BAD COMMUNICATION & LACK OF CARE

The staff really care about our pets. Our elderly dog has ongoing issues and they are so gentle and so kind with him. They never do more testing than they needed, and they always check to make sure you want the tests run.

If you want timely effective patient/owner centered care Dr.Dawson is the vet to see. He is very reasonably priced and he will even advise you wait to get a discount for preventive care if there is one coming up ( eg teeth cleaning, they offer a 20% discount in February). He is not a salesman nor are his employees, they simply provide you information on new products as needed and they let you decide on the best treatment plan for your pet. Dr.Dawson is very patient and always answers all of my questions gladly. Their infection prevention practices during the pandemic has been top notch. In the beginning before vaccination they would come out and get your pet and you would have a phone consult with Dr.Dawson. As of last week they are allowing owners into the waiting area one at a time for drop off and pick up only, you must still wait in the car during the visit and to speak with Dr.Dawson. Masks are required and there is signage on the door notifying visitors about masking .If you happen to not have a mask, they have a box right out front waiting for you. All of the employees are wearing masks. The assistant I interacted with was wearing a mask and a faceshied. The clinic is always clean and pristine. I feel very safe visiting Durham Animal Hospital and my pet receives exceptional care from Dr.Dawson and his team.

Called 12 days ago about getting a prescription refill for my pup. The first day I called I was told that a message would be sent to the doctor & someone would get back with me. 24 hours later I hadn’t heard anything, so I called back. This time I was told that they were really busy & that the doctor had lots of messages, but that I would get a call back later. 3-4 days days later I called back for a 3rd time & spoke to someone at the front. I told him I’ve been waiting for a prescription refill for my dog & that this was my 3rd time calling. He assured me that he would make sure I got a call back before the end of the day. It’s been almost a week since that conversation & still nothing! It’s just sad that this is what I have to go through just to get a prescription refill for my dog!

After being here for over 2 years, I have not been very pleased with this placed. Specially after today. I had my pet put to sleep there and they were supposed to call me when her ashes are ready. 1 week comes by not yet and they said should be ready soon and will call me back. No call. Then I call again 2 weeks later, o she should be ready and will call you when she is ready. No call. 3 weeks later still no call. So finally call again today Sept 20th at 5:15pm and tells me that o she is ready at the front desk. So it took for me to call again to let me know that she is ready. And the person that I spoke with tells me that the morning front desk was supposed to call me. But they never do. It's always me calling. I'm so disappointed with this place. So unprofessional. But they are fast at taking your money.

North Durham Animal Hospital is simply one of the best places to take your dog in Houston. We have been to several vets, over the years, and have finally settled on the excellent service, expertise and pricing structure at NDAH, even eschewing vets in our neighborhood. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

I took a stray kitty in for a wellness check and they treated us like she and I had been a family forever. Very kind and informative and I could actually afford to get her all the necessary tests and vaccinations. ????

I used to recommend people to North Durham Animal hospital, however I cannot recommend them anymore. I went on a 10 day trip to Missouri and left my dog with them for 10 days. I have a couple complaints about this. First off, they are closed Sunday (though there is someone there to take care of the animals) so even though I arrived back on Saturday, I had to pay for Sunday night because I could not pick him up Sunday. The real problem I have is they claim my dog is "cage aggressive." I have left him with PetSmart and paid about the same for kenneling, but they never said anything about him being cage aggressive. NDAH insisted that I let them give him anxiety medicine for the duration I agreed that is fine. I assumed it might cost $30 or so for the medicine, which it did. I was charged a $150 medicine administration fee, which is absurd. Basically they turned a $300ish kenneling into a $530 kenneling. Because of this they lost my business as a Vet for my dog as well as for kenneling. For that $530 I could have left my dog at a place that pampers the dog and known they did not need to medicate him.

Love this place. Conveniently located. They saw my dog last minute when she had a badly inflamed paw on Monday. So accommodating and easy to work with! Very affordable too.

My chihuahua suddenly and unexpectedly could not use her L front paw and was crying in pain. Although it was a Friday and they were over booked and closed early they said to bring her in! She was seen a short time later.

I always come here. They’re quick to respond and the vets don’t mind talking to you about your pet. Larry was having trouble with my cat but he ended up doing a great job. The younger lady in the front is very nice, can’t remember her name. The African American gentleman with the glasses was also fun to talk to. Overall a great experience.

I’ve been going to see Dr. Dawson for 7 years now. It’s a great place. Very honest. Great quality. Dr. Dawson is the only vet who has actually been able to cure my dog’s various medical conditions because he knows how to actually treat illnesses and doesn’t use my dog as a experiment based on whatever papers have recently been published with a sample size of 12 or something equally as unreliable. Dr. Dawson’s informs his treatment based on decades of experience and it shows.

Front office staff friendly and accommodating. Rates are more reasonable than most other vet hospitals in The Heights/Washington Ave area. Inside waiting area (closed during COVID) could use a face lift and remodel to keep dogs separated. Dr Doug Dawson one of the best vets in Houston- compassionate & conscious of costs to the pet owner. Dr Ozak equally as caring and supportive. Many of the support staff have been there for years & it’s obvious they love what they do. Parking can sometimes be a challenge but worth it to provide top notch care to your beloved furry family member
