I doubt I could have found a better place and better people to work with me to get my dog's eyesight back. Truly a blessing

Very happy so far. 7 y.o. dog needed knee surgery. They explained the procedure and the costs along with what to expect with recovery thoroughly. We are a month out now and have a follow up to check progress and so far everything including communication has been excellent. We would use them again if needed.

My Fur baby had to have surgery for a torn ACL , 4 weeks after he was seen by Dr. Brayley for a gallbladder blockage. We visited the Medvet 2 times in one month. Both Dr.Brayley and Dr. Burkert were both very pleasant and efficient. I am very pleased with the attention and care my baby recieved from both doctors. The staff were also great ????

We have used the services here for our fur kiddos with a total of 3 knee replacements, one cancer removal, and now seeing the opthamologist. They are great at what they do. They are definitely on the high end price wise and that is a little daunting at times. Especially after seeing Rocky Mountain dr. Jeff out of Colorado doing many of these same procedures for like 10% what they charge. But they are great doctors and great at what they do.

I was referred to MedVet when my poodle needed FHO surgery on his right hip. I should’ve known to take caution when, I dropped him and the receptionist told me, “any questions you have they should’ve answered them at your initial visit.” Prior to and post surgery, my dog was put in a cage. I was aware of this and TOLD them he was NOT kennel trained. After surgery, I picked him up and noticed his privates were FLAMING RED. RACHEL, the vet tech mentioned I should put some diaper cream on it and that she would follow up. THAT NEVER HAPPENED!! FIRST OFF, why wasn’t he given a cone? I would assume that to be COMMON SENSE! Secondly, I paid $2800, if he needed any cream, he should have CAME HOME WITH IT. I requested a call from Dr. Bandwell on multiple occasions. To this day, I haven’t gotten ANY follow up! I’ll never take my pet back here!

Dr. Susaneck is so informative & intelligent. He treated our older lab Gunner who had intestinal cancer and got him back fat and healthy for the rest of his days. And Dr. Susaneck has been amazing with my older boxer Gamble who has had all kinds of weird blood platelet issues & he even went temporarily blind (which would have been permanent if not for Dr. Susaneck ) My family & myself know Dr. Susaneck is a miracle worker & a total angel in my eyes! We love him! Thank you Doc. for everything!!! Tabetha Paysse

They wouldn’t let us go back in the back with our 5 young puppies to get their eyes examined bc of rules with Covid. Fine whatever I respected their decision (even though I was wearing a mask and full vaccinated). Where I lost all respect was when they let a guy go back there to work on a computer with NO mask on!! Then another client came in with no mask on and no one said anything to him. If you are going to enforce a rule please enforce! Not fair to us that follow them!

The optometry department, J.F. Swanson was an excellent DVM, I recommend him. He showed compassion, realism, and answered all my questions. Internal Medicine department was a horrible experience and I don't recommend anyone go to them. They lacked proper communication, concern for my pet's health, and degraded me. I arrived 10 minutes EARLY to my appointment, but because of lack of proper communication, I was forced to reschedule because paperwork wasn't filled out fast enough despite me having interactions with staff. I saw another customer escorted to a room and was told they could finish the paperwork there, unfair treatment. Instead of spending at least 20 minutes with the DVM, the staff was forced to explain to me the DVM didn't want to see me, then tried to convince me I was at fault for being tardy despite being 10 mins early (negative reinforcement-stating policy is sufficient enough). When attempting to reschedule they wanted to reschedule 1.5 months out, total disregard to my pet's health. Their website is horrible to fill out forms in advance and I was never emailed forms to fill out prior to my appointment. No reminder of strict policy was given by phone, text, or e-mail since I was a new patient. To top it off, it took me extra effort to go to the appointment since I had a major surgery 2 weeks prior. Don't expect compassion and proper communication from them. I don't mind driving farther out for a better internal medicine DVM and recommend "Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists & 24 Hour Emergency Care". Their website is 10x better, quick and thorough communication through multiple options (texting, e-mailing, and phone) and understanding the urgency was able to get scheduled within a week. My visit proved Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists truly stick to their core values. Totally different treatment and atmosphere! I'm actually thankful I got canceled and had a better experience elsewhere.

Was referred here from my primary vet and was somewhat reluctant as being referred to surgeons felt surgery would be the only solution. I was very wrong as Dr. Burkert suggested that surgery probably would not improve my buddy's hips but anti-inflammatories might be a help. My little buddy really was much better with the drugs and I am so happy not to chop my little buddy up. Highly recommend Dr. Burkert.

Drove away our business by being extremely rude to my father at the front desk, when he went to ask about a ballpark number for a potential surgery.

Good news and bad news: The good news is that they treated my dog that needed to be put down with proper care and showed me the data and x-rays to back their heart breaking diagnosis. Her end was very peaceful under their care. It cost me $1000. My other corgi had a spinal injury that required surgery for $5000. 6 years later, he is 14 and pulls me on a walk. Bad news is that they are expensive. We were feeding a stray occasionally. One day, we foumd him shot in El Lago. Leg was shattered. Sent them an x-ray. Told us it would be thousands and might have to amputate leg. My local vet referred me to Neighbors Animal Clinic in Groves, TX (near beaumont). They said they would repair the leg (no mention of amputation). Would require 2 surgeries (one to remove pin), gave him antibiotics and home pain meds. I took the 1 hour 20 minute drive on a Tuesday morning. They came to my car in the parking lot filled with patients, took the cat, and performed a difficult surgery involving a plate, screws, and pins. He is doing wonderfully after 3 weeks. The doctor was great. I was charged $1000 total. I understand they would have done it for less if money is a problem, My dad was a physician. He worked 1/2 time charging people full price in a upper middle class suburb of NY. He then spent 1/2 time offering his services at a clinic where he had a coffee can (for those that remember them) where you gave what you could afford. And that was mostly for the patients' sake so they felt they did not get a handout. I wish veterinary specialists would do the same.

Our 2 year old french bulldog experienced a sudden herniation of his lumber disc and he lost function of his hind legs. We brought him to the hospital hoping for a miracle. The staff and Dr. Banwell were amazing. We are currently still recovering and don't know the long-term outcome; however, the professionalism and empathy shown by the entire staff at the hospital were beyond measure.

We were referred here by our everyday vet because my dog has cancer. We saw Dr. Susaneck who was very helpful and competent. He advised we do surgery and we made an appointment with the Dr. Burkert. (scheduling was VERY SLOW. We had three appointments each a week apart. No sense of urgency for a fast spreading cancer- waited three weeks for surgery because we had to have a consultation with Dr. Burkert first, even though Dr. Susaneck consulted with him while I was there the first time.) Dr. Burkert was not hopeful my dog could have the surgery. There were a few excuses as to why. I was told we needed a CT Scan before he would so the surgery, so the day of what was supposed to be her surgery they started with a CT scan. I called halfway through the day to see if they were able to do the surgery. The receptionist told me all was good and she was in surgery right now. I asked for clarity “So the CT scan went good and they were able to move forward with surgery?” She said YES. An hour later I get a call from Dr. Burkert that he was unable to do the surgery because the cancer on her femur has spread to her pelvis and he “doesn’t like failed surgeries” they still decided to keep my dog overnight. Also got my hopes up because I was told she was having her surgery. I asked several times to be sure. The receptionists should be very careful giving out WRONG information like this. I decided to get a second opinion and asked for all my documents to be sent over to another vet. I had to call another 3 times to be sure they were sent over. Apparently the Doctor has to approve documents being sent over? I paid $1200 for a CT Scan I should be able to have it sent wherever I want to as many vets as I want without question, but every time I called the receptionists were rude and not helpful on the surgery side of the office. Well, we ended up getting a second opinion, our new vet called Dr. Susaneck to discuss her records and come to find out he didn’t even look at my dogs CT Scan, he just took Dr. Burkert’s word that the cancer had spread (very unprofessional considering Dr. Burkert isn’t an oncologist??) This all happened in March. Fast forward to this week In July- my dog is happy in three legs after her amputation and the cancer on her pelvis? Not there. I don’t think there was ever any spread to her pelvis. I will never go here again. I should have listened to the reviews. It was such a stressful time in my life & they were no help. If I would have listened to them my dog would not be here today. This review is long, because that’s how many bad experiences I had at this place. From the receptionists to the doctors. Horrible experience!

Outstanding veterinarians- they care about your pet and want to help. I especially like Dr Braley and Dr Lunney. Thank you for your help as Bonny is having the time of her life! Bonny is three years old and rockets around the house as if she didn't have a septal defect. In fact, her heart is filled with love for her family and you all made that possible.

We were referred here by our regular veterinarian and had a wonderful experience all around. My older boxer had a CCL tear a few years ago and we had a repair done at our vet instead of doing the TPLO surgery. He managed until recently but never really used the leg after the surgery. We medicated him until he got pancreatitis and then were able to manage for another year or so off the meds. Something happened recently and sent him into major pain so we did xrays and at our normal vet and was told his leg was shot and that there was so much arthritis in his knee. We medicated him again and made an appointment with Bay Area Veterinary Specialists as soon as possible. Everything was great, from the initial phone call to being greeted and checked in at the clinic to meeting and speaking with Dr. Burkert. The staff was beyond friendly and Dr. Burkert answered and addressed all of my questions and concerns. We decided it was best to amputate his leg due to the condition, his age and the fact that I didn't want to have to medicate him for the rest of his life with the pancreatitis. Surgery went well, they kept me informed and we picked him up the next day. During discharge they went over everything and made sure we knew what to expect and how to manage for the next 2 weeks. I had called with a question shortly after we got home and they got me the answers within minutes. A follow up call was made about a week after surgery to check on him and we just went in yesterday to have his staples taken out and was given the all clear. I was very impressed with the surgical staff and the entire process. Thanks so much for helping me and Braun get through this.

Had a very positive experience when we took our Pup in. Professional folks kept us informed. Communicated clearly throughout the process. I would not hesitate to go back to them or recommend them to others.

Extremely disappointed. They took advantage of my desperation and being the only vet open at the time and used that to gouge their prices knowing I had no choice but to pay. Now I still have to pay an additional $700 to do what they wouldn’t in the first place. Don’t waste your time

Update....this business apologized and reimbursed cost of fuel for wasted trip. Updating from 1 star to 3, and chalking this one up to poor communication, which they hopefully will work on. After confirming consult on 12/14 and potential surgery on 12/15, this place was rude and unprofessional. Much more to this low rating, but not going to write a book. Wasted 2+ hour drive with my injured dog.

My pet has been treated by the internal/cardiology team for several years now and with each visit we have been treated with professionalism, courtesy and timeliness . Unfortunately, if you need their services it means that your pet needs "special" care therefore the staff has a compassionate disposition when you visit their facility. They offer a courtesy reminder the day before your appointment, they provide an estimate of the costs before treatment and the Dr.'s have always explained thoroughly the procedure for that appointment as well as a printed reports of their analysis.
