Im reporting you to the state board. Outrageous. My dog had a heartworm test 5 months ago at your practice. Im not getting another one in order to get a refill. This is becoming an issue. You prescribe meds and then need more tests before a refill. Its really unethical. Ill get the heartworm from Canada and bypass you altogether. So, basically you cost yourself a few thousand a year, and solved nothing. Good work.. . What horrible greedy people you are. There's forever an issue. It's none of your business what brand of heartworm treatment i choose. I know the correct dosage was ordered. Its my dog and not yours. I also have other Doctors that didn't see cancer in my beloved Jake. Issues for sure but not a single Dr saw cancer on that X-ray. I totally think that diagnosis was wrong and my Jake paid for it. That's something I can't get past.. it was backed up feces. ALL 4 Drs said the same thing.. I urge people to get a second opinion if you go here. Trust me..

“Your dog might have cancer” …. But we brought her in for a severe limp, shoulder problem, maybe arthritis?? “Can’t worry about that, she needs meds, we don’t have them but will give you a few” “Go get an ultrasound!” “We will discuss with you next month” WTH?!?!

I'm a new customer and I live less than 5 minutes away from Lakewood Forest Vet Hosp. I really hope that I had found a vet/clinic that would help me take care of my two fur babies that I recently rescued. But unfortunately instead it appears that I'm one of the customers that received poor service. I took my fur babies there to make sure they were healthy. One had an ear infection and also needed his glands to be expressed. The other dog was great. My bill was 270.00. I was grateful that I had a first time client voucher. Because the very next day I had to call back to inform them that my male dog was still scooting his bottom on the floor. I was not asked to bring him back to recheck him out. I was told by the young lady who answered the phone that he may need to be groomed. So, I set an appointment for both dogs to be groomed the following week. When I prepared to drop them off this morning, I was told the groomer was not in and the appointment was cancelled. I asked why was I not contacted. The young lady expressed no empathy, offered no apology nor an option to reschedule. Instead, she was dishonest and stated that I was called but there was no answer. When I asked why a simple message was not left just to let me know the appointment was cancelled, there was nothing she could say. What a disappointment. Especially since I live so close to this vet clinic.

The got my pup in the same day. Woke up to bloody stools. Came home with stuff to help her. She's never scared when she goes there. I have to update. Went to the groomer there too. My dog is a rescue and is very scared of the groomer. Last time (at a different place) I had to pick her up early because she pooped everywhere. Not here. She made it through and smell great! Look how happy she is.

It's disappointing to have to leave this review, as my family has used this vet since my dog was a puppy. This is hands down, the worst, most uncaring, unprofessional experience I've ever had. My dog was quite sick through the night, so I called in the morning to schedule an appointment. I was told, "no, we won't do that. We will not see her if she's sick." So. Our vet will not see our dog when she's sick? They said to "take her somewhere else." Obviously I have, and we will never return to this vet. They had no suggestions, no recommendations, and nothing to say other than basically go away. Uncaring. Unprofessional. Stay far, far away from this place.

I am so happy and pleased that this hospital is "cat friendly". They really go the extra mile to make sure your cat is treated with a gentle touch. We just love Dr. Borland! She is so knowledgeable, caring, and takes time to explain every aspect of health. Thank you to everyone from Houdini and mom. You guys are awesome!

A must read for new patient to this veterinarian. We have a dog that is 9 years old. she have a premolar tooth that need to be removed. because it is accessed. I called this vet. and asked if they did this and how much it would cost. I was told that they would be able to do this processor with no problem and the cost was good. So I set up a appointment and drop off my dog. I was called about 1 hour later because they forgot to have me sign a paper because I'm a new patient . So we handle it over the phone. About 1 hour later I received another call that I can come pick up my dog. and was informed at the time they can not do this . And yes I was hot. But then I get even hotter when they want $105.00 for basically doing nothing. So if you new to this arear look elsewhere this vet is a crook . I read the reviews before I toke my dog here a trusted the good reviews over the bad . Boy was I wrong . And to the person whoever answer these reviews don't was your time lying about everything just to make yourself look good.

Update 2: In response, it was told to us that her vitals were great before and after initial procedure. She was initially not to be put under but they called later to request approval, where they said she was healthy and good for it. The offer to monitor was only after the procedure, not follow up. And admittedly, bloodwork for extra cost, offered afterward. When putting a cat under, procedures such as bloodwork and physical should be performed prior to ensure animal is healthy enough for a procedure. She was 15 years old. And I say WAS, because she unfortunately passed on the 14th. Pain and anti inflammatory meds are available for cats. Administered via liquid dropper much like antibiotics. For an open wound(not stitched. And she was handed over to us with it open, actively bleeding in an delicate hard to keep clear spot. Pictures were taken) and extensive abscess, one shot of an antibiotic is not sufficient. In short, during the follow up is when they really failed. She had labored breathing and obvious stridor. Vibration felt in chest, not throat(many may mistake stridor for just purring). They dismissed any lung/pulmonary issue..offered blood tests to see if hypothyroid issues. She has now passed on due to pneumonia. Update: We took her to my family's long time vet an hour away. She has severe pneumonia. They said she obviously had it when this office saw her for the check up after the sedation and treatment. The appointment where they said she was just fine and no issues(even though she had loud labored breathing). They also said she should have been given a stronger antibiotic after the surgery along with pain/anti inflammatories, especially with her age. We will start her treatment today, hope she pulls through. While I appreciate them seeing my ill cat during the covid issues, I am not satisfied with how they dealt with it. We noticed a large abscess on her lower tummy late one night. She is a tough cookie for her old age, always had been, so we didn't notice earlier. We took her in the next morning. They had to drain it and it was quite pricey. When my husband picked her up, they didn't give any after care instructions and no pain/anti inflammatory medicine for her. It was a decent size hole and wasn't stitched up nor covered lightly with gauze(I know tight bandaging can inhibit drainage and healing). Good thing Im moderately knowledgeable about these things from working in a pet store in my younger days(like safer litter for the box with open wounds, making sure to keep it clean, etc). Days later I noticed her wound healing but she was in pain(shaky legs, not wanting to move, staying upstairs, fast breathing with purring which is all very unlike her). She wasn't like this with the abscess and when she went in. We called and were told they couldn't rx an anti inflammatory or pain med without seeing her again. So we took her in again. They called saying she was fine, not in pain. But we could do a bunch of expensive tests. Why, if you claim she is just fine and not showing distress? Which is it? So they refused any meds for her. Its been 20 days post treatment. She still has labored breathing with purring and pulling in at the chest, doesn't want to move, little appetite and little water intake. The fast breath with constant purr(with groans) in commonly known to be about pain in a cat. Yet they say she is "just fine and no pain". I will probably have to take her elsewhere to be really taken seriously. Its obvious, but apparently not to them, that she is in pain and distressed. She needs at least some ibuprofen. Who treats an abscess that big and open on an old cat and doesn't give at least a couple days worth of anti inflammatory/pain management? She worse off after treatment than before with the active abscess. Its absurd.

I have an older Cairn Terrier and a 1 year retriever/shepherd mix. I take them both here for exams, grooming & boarding. The staff has been super kind, helpful and especially patient with both dogs (the puppy is super rambunctious). Highly recommend!

I wanted to add information to my 5 star review. When I first moved to Houston I had tried a few vets with limited success. My first experience with LFV was at the loss of my 19yr old cat Logan. I woke up to find she had passed in the night. I took her to them for the creation of a memorial. They were so compassionate and caring. The support they gave and the beautiful memorial I received warmed my heart. My second experience was bringing in my timid gentle giant gunner. He is terrified of strangers. The staff here were so wonderful to him that he warmed to them immediately. They took great care of him and have done wonders for relieving his osteoarthritis. He isn't scared going back to them. My third visit was taking in my new rescue kitten. Once again, 5 star experience. This team is full of the kindest, gentlest doctors and support staff. I know my furbabies are always in the best of care with them.

I needed to get my dog in for a abscessed tooth. I was told that they were able to do the procedure. There would be a 59.00 change up front, I was fine with that. Had checked several veterinary clinics and the price was two to four thousand. She said they could remove the tooth and total cost be between four or five hundred. So we took her, within a couple hours we received a call, you can come and pick up your dog. We can not do this procedure. She continues with we are not equipped for this type of surgery. Completely confused at this point, proceeded to go and pick her up. Apon arrival is when we were told that it would be 105.66 for today! Did not make any sense. So we paided the money with questions. It was like she never said they could do it. My advice to you, make sure you get everything in writing before you do anything.

The nurses and the vet are animal lovers and it really shows. I could not praise them enough. They take pride in their work and they truly went above and beyond for me and my family. They don't sell you hope but rather give it to you honestly. Which is all I could ask for. 10/10 this is the vet to use.

Been taking our pets here (2 cats, 1 dog) for 7 years, great staff, very reasonably priced. We also had 2 pets pass while going there and they were exceptionally sympathetic and offered a lovely package to memorialize your lost one. We opted for a simple paw print that came free with putting them down, but there are other options as well including full burial if you desire. It's an old building since they have been around for awhile, and it's not the most up to date with tech but I trust them with my pets, that is what's really important.

This place is amazing and the vet was so honest and caring with us. Our dog was very sick and her and the nurses were so great throughout the entire process. Unlike other places we have went to, they don’t only care about the money. They actually care about the animals.
