We have a 80lb AmStaff, Lab & Husky mix, Venchi. For 2 years, he dragged me on our walks and we were always on his agenda. We have done other "trainings" before and were not seeing any results. We reached out to Josh and had a great long chat with him and thought his approach is different than what we have done but we wanted to try based on all the great reviews. Well..long story short, his methods are legit and the positive reviews are true. 10 months later between private and group classes, our relationship with Venchi has changed and grown- he respects and trusts us. He walks right by my side when we go on walks. He doesn't get distracted or startled by other dogs or squirrels. He constantly checks in with us and seeks permission and guidance. I am comfortable with walking him by myself, without the husband. Josh truly has a great understanding of the psychology and behavior of dogs. The result-driven cirriculum does work. Honestly, life-changing.

Real training and real results when you put in the work. Started the Obedience Foundations when my dog was a few months over 1 yr old. We worked with other places before and none compare to this. No more bribing my dog with treats on walks or being stressed that she will lunge or bark at other dogs. I have gained confidence in handling my dog in public because of the training and I think my dog is more confident as well!

I can’t say enough great things about Josh and his business. I did extensive research on all the training options for my dog and after many consultations, decided Houston Dogworks was really the only option for us. I am so thankful I reached out and had a consultation that resulted in me boarding my Border Collie/Aussie with them for 6 weeks. I picked him up today and although the work is just now beginning for me, I’m so pleased with how well my dog is responding to all the training! Josh and team are excellent at what they do. We took our young Corgi, Millie, there for a board and train session back in the fall. Millie had really bad agression around resource guarding and was generally hard to control. We went to a a different trainer before Josh for an evaluation, and they refused to even work with her based on her resource guarding. But Josh isn't afraid of a good challenge. Once Millie came back from the board and train, she was almost a completely new dog. Through lots of hard work and group classes, she is now the most well behaved dog I've ever owned. And best of all, she no longer shows signs of agression. There is a lot of work to do still, and you have to do your part in order to get the results you want. That being said, I'm happy to keep advancing through the courses with Houston Dog Works. Thanks Josh!

Josh at Houston DogWorks is legit! My 5 year old hound mix had some bad behaviors that needed correcting. Josh and team were incredibly patient with my endless questions and gave specialized solutions to getting these issues turned around. It is well worth the time and money when you see the results! Most importantly you'll have a better relationship with your dog after completing the training!

In 2018 my husband and I adopted a dog from a local shelter. He was ill mannered, wouldn't listen, and destroyed our stuff. We enrolled in the Obedience Foundations class at Houston Dog works in 2019. The difference in my dog is amazing. It has been a little over a year (training delays due to Covid-19) and my dog no longer pulls on the leash, he does what we say when we tell him to, he no longer jumps on people, and also no longer automatically chases everything that moves. He now has his Canine Good Citizen, Community Good Citizen, and Urban Good Citizen titles. Josh gives you the tools you need so that your dog will succeed, as long as you continue the work between lessons. I am grateful to Josh for helping me help my dog become a great companion animal and look forward to continuing different classes and furthering my dog's training with the different classes Josh offers.

Josh and his team are life savers!!! I had waited months for my Vizsla puppy and when I got her, I thought I was prepared but I wasn't. It had been over 10 years since I raised a puppy and with the pandemic/working from home, I wasn't prepared. After having my 8 week puppy for about a week, I called for help, for reinforcement. Since I'm in the Heights area, Houston DogWorks was conveniently close by and had great reviews! I had also seen reviews that he had worked on another Vizsla puppy so I felt comfortable knowing that he had experience with this breed. Josh took my puppy in for the Puppy Primer program and after 10 days with her, I was so happy with the results. She is now 13 weeks this week, 90% potty trained and she barely whines when she's in her crate! Josh's puppy schedule really helped and we've managed to keep up with it. Highly recommend Josh! I will be taking both my pups to Josh and his team for boarding and day care!!

Josh spent an hour talking with us over the phone about our new Vizsla puppy’s behavior issues. He gave us very simple and solid techniques to curb her inappropriate behavior and explained why these techniques work. Josh understands dogs! Houston dog works is the perfect place to train your dog. The buildings are kept very clean and provide a fantastic environment to board and also provide daycare, along with training classes for your dog. They have been wonderful with training us 1st time puppy owners and our little 6month old puppy. Josh and his team are fully committed to to you and your dog's growth they are very knowledgeable, and experienced.

Great facility! Had a wonderful time here for a seminar, the trainers here are all very knowledgeable, and have wonderful customer service skills!
