I had an appointment 2 weeks ago for my puppy. The vet (Dr Allen) said, "I never saw this condition before, give me 24-48 hours to figure it out". That was on Jan 3rd, its now Jan 16. I called the office, this past Friday and they took my number down and said, the tech would call me back. Still haven't heard anything. The staff are AWESOME! If you need an orthopedic specialist, don't see Dr. Allen, he is very unreliable.

Under the circumstances, staff are very well versed in interpreting sentences spoken while simultaneously crying, and answering questions. Getting updates throughout the day made me feel reassured that my dog was being cared for.

Dr. Manino spent considerable time with us explaining possible testing options and their risks. After performing a number of tests he spent time going over what he had done and the results. I knew that our visit was going to be expensive so I was not surprised at the costs. In fact, I thought it was fairly priced. Everyone at the facility was pleasant and professional. The news we got was not what I wanted to hear, but it helped me make one of the hardest decisions I'll have to make in the near future for my dog. And I feel comfortable that I am making the right decision. Kind, thorough, and really listened to what I had to say.

I normally don’t write negative reviews about businesses. However, I would not recommend this animal hospital. The different departments don’t communicate with one another, you can get no one on the phone and during our time sensitive matter with our pet, we could speak to no one other than a vet that is not trained in that particular area. We spoke to a ton of different people there trying to get answers on different questions and no one seemed to know what was going on. They showed zero empathy either. It was a disaster with them and they should be ashamed of themselves. I tried to express my concerns to their email that they have suggested to people on google. Of course, no response there either. Don’t come here unless you have to. There are a couple other animal hospitals in the Houston area that I would try over them.

I work at a different veterinary office. I brought my Flemish Giant rabbit, Nutmeg, here. She had been dealing with some heath issues that ended up being much more serious than expected. She had a fever of 107 and was head tilting the morning I got into work. We ran bloodwork and gave her subcutaneous fluids to lower her temperature at my vet's office, then a coworker and I headed to Gulf Coast. Unfortunately she ended up crashing right when we arrived, but the staff was wonderful and kind. They performed CPR for a while on her. They brought me and my coworker into a room so I could cry (I couldn't detect a heartbeat and knew she was gone). The doctor that came in after was very kind as well. Thank you all for trying to save her. I miss her dearly, but it comforts me that you tried so hard to save her.

I hate writing reviews, especially of this nature. Our dog came down IMHA and we brought her to Gulf Coast Vet Specialists. As serious as this disease is, she was tended to by interns who seemingly lacked experience in this area. When we realized our dog was not going to live, we asked GCVS to euthanize her. They had one of the interns who had been treating her, attempt the euthanization. The euthanization was botched, as they had installed the catheter incorrectly, so only part of the meds were injected. Once the doctor realized they had messed up, he had someone insert another catheter in her, and proceeded to start the process over. All in all our dog sat there, scared, for over 15 min, as the staff was slow to respond. As you can imagine this was traumatic for me and my family (who were present) as well as for our poor dog. I politely asked the hospital who was in charge and who could I relay my complaint to in hopes of preventing this from happening to any other animals/families. They said they were too busy to talk and took my number and said someone would call me. We spent approx. $8,500 at GCVS over 4 nights. To date, nobody has called to speak with me; we put our dog down Monday Dec 27th.

I've used GCVS for many years and have had many dogs successfully treated there in almost every department (with a couple of isolated bad experiences). My most recent experience has been great, with thorough exploration of the problems, good communication and explanation, and good care of my pup. I currently have a pup who is battling a number of serious issues including recently diagnosed heart failure, collapsing trachea and probable aggressive cancer. I've (so far) seen internal medicine and the emergency department and both have been wonderful. In particular, I've appreciated working with Dr Manino in medicine, and Dr Lawler and Dr Molinari in emergency were terrific this past weekend. We've recently moved from Houston to Galveston, and I continue to make the drive from Galveston to GCVS for the quality of care.

I used to love GCVS! The people that worked there were so compassionate and knowledgable about my dogs, my cats, even my reptiles. NO LONGER! I sent my Bearded Dragon in for a check up and the new reptile doctor was so rude, condescending, self important, and treated me like she was doing me a favor by even seeing my Beardie in the first place. I'm so disappointed with my experience today. Things have definitely changed at GCVS!

Would not for all of the money in the world return to this hospital. Staff is very frustrating and do not attempt to even pretend to sound like they care. My dog almost died and they couldn't have cared less, all they cared about was money, money and more money!

The facility and Dr's/Staff are amazing. Super caring and attentive. So appreciated. Marzo is feeling and looking like his old self. New plan is going very well thus far.

They were amazing. It was just the pricing they had for my beardies care.. 657 I believe.. was very expensive to stay the night to help him.. he had a glarice platoma. And it was the only vet we could find. It was a horrifying experience but he is fine now he just won’t eat.

Stay away from this place if you can. Brought my dog for a biopsy that cost thousands of dollars and they came back saying that the results were negative but they still think it’s cancerous. Then they wanted to schedule another biopsy and put her on radiation without actually having conclusive evidence. Trying to get a hold of the doctor for prescriptions has been a mess. I had to call back 5 different times to get them to write a refill for medications they themselves recommended! I’m still dealing with Rx issues. Customer service is lacking in the Pharmacy. They act like they’re doing you a favor.

Gulf Coast has been amazing from the very beginning! Zander has been to three different departments and every time the staff is knowledgeable and caring. They treat Zander like he was their own and help ease his anxiety. I wouldn't take Zander anywhere else for his needs!

The price to try to save your dog here is astronomical! SHAME on this place for taking advantage! I wouldn’t go back with my fur baby, ever. Of course I can’t anyway since we had to put him to sleep too to the estimate of $8000-10000 for a 24 hour period just to try to diagnose!????????????????????

Amazing, quality, friendly service. Communication was perfect. Very transparent on pricing and will ask before doing extra tests or treatments. Long waits but its a hospital so I expected as much. At least I was informed along the way so I wasn't just sitting there wondering. Thank you for yalls help!

Everyone was helpful and professional and making an appointment and dropping off Cooper was such a breeze. They took care of him quickly and we didn’t have to worry about the quality of care. This is actually the second time we’ve had to bring him and both times the level of service was amazing. At a time when you may be afraid or the future is unknown it’s nice to have competent caring professionals like Gulf Coast at your side. Highly recommend!

The staff were very friendly and doted on our dog. They were quick getting to us and took the time to explain the issues and treatment, even calling us to check on her after we got home from a CT scan and give us more information. Care and attention given to my dog was most important.

The staff was great. They really helped during a difficult time. They were very specific and thoughtful throughout the whole process of helping my guinea pig and always made sure to keep me up to date. The staff was very helpful throughout the whole process so I knew what to do when I got my guinea pig back. And I loved how the staff and doctors were very kind and helpful with me and my guinea pig.

I have been fighting a skin condition with my cat for a couple months now. Many vet visits that led to disappointing results, I got referred to this vet hospital by my primary vet, and after just 3 days of treatment my cat, Consuela is already doing a lot better. She is more alert, her skin is healing fantastically, and she seems much happier. I really enjoyed the experience with GCVS. They took great care of my baby, making sure she was comfortable and happy the entire visit. Excellent communication with me and quick plan of action for treatment. I am so pleased with the vets and the care they took in treating her. Thank you all for working so hard to make sure she begins the long awaited healing process she so deserves!

Expensive but the best care that money can buy when you love your pets as much as we do. Made my Ziggy healthy again and extending the time we will have with him.

This place is absolutely predatory and cold. After following the procedure of calling before arrival to make sure they had capacity, my dog was quickly taken to the back rooms after arrival where I was not allowed. For the next 3 hours I sat in the lobby as I watched staff explain to people the critical situations their pets were in and that they would need payment up front in order to help. Some of the time I heard valid resistance about why certain charges were a waste given the overall treatment approach to which the staff flatly said no deviations are allowed and feel free to go to another facility. Greed and heartlessness. Near the end of the third hour I began to hear my dog barking the way he does when put in a small kennel. I let this go on for about 15 minutes before I decided that 3 plus hours of being kept totally in the dark was enough and asked the front desk for an update. The update was..."your dog appears stable so we haven't looked at him and don't know when we will." Had I not asked for an update and more critical pets kept coming, they would have let me and my intermittently vomiting dog who has refused to eat anything all day sit there indefinitely until they found the time to examine him and craft a personal extortion plan. Stay far away from here. I'm sorry if you have no other choice. I hope my dog's condition isn't too serious.

Very impressed with the service and attention to my dog. I was turned away from two other hospitals before being referred here. I'm so happy with the care we received! My dog is doing terrific now!
