I have taken a kitten thereafter got sick. And they ran test that wasn't even necessary. As per the other vet there. The cat got lock jaw and they refused to treat her. Only said she looks bad. She was there the day before to get treated. But they are only money hungry not about care.this poor kitten fought all night long to get help and they only made worse.

100% recommend. Though the wait is long, very helpful and kind to animals. They may be a bit pricey, but it definitely offers wonderful care for family pets.

Just need a rabies vaccine? That will be $52. Might as well just go to riverside and get all annual vaccines, an exam, and only pay $40. Need a procedure done here? Well you HAVE to have a rabies shot. They cannot give that without an exam fee...but they can put your pet under and do procedures without a vet doing an exam...seems like a money grab to me. Hard to get people to take care of their pets when the cost is so prohibitive.

We’ve only taken one cat here and she ended up dead, so really would not recommend. First, our cat was very old. It is not their fault she couldn’t handle being put under. It is their fault that they did not have a second person monitoring her while under and that they didn’t say there was a high risk. Instead they said they did old cats all the time and it really would not be an issue. I hate that we didn’t just trim the poor cat ourselves, which was what I personally thought would be better for an older cat. However, they never suggested a light sedative and clipping while awake, they said putting her under would be the best option and now she’s dead. Also did not care for the fact they required a fully indoor, old cat who hasn’t been outside for 16 years to get a new rabies shot. I love vaccines, but don’t think giving them to older animals not in any risk makes much sense. The vaccine wasn’t to protect them or her, as it could be given day of the procedure. So, definitely unnecessary. When I had my dog’s teeth cleaned elsewhere they did blood work and a health exam beforehand. Maybe this vet should consider doing that in the future. Anyhow, our perfectly healthy cat is now dead for no reason.

My Jody(geriatric dog) has not been acting right. New to the area I didn't know where to take her. I made a few calls and got put off for days to weeks before they could get her in. I called the animal hospital they listened to my concerns, got me right in, were friendly, discussed cost before preforming interventions, and loved on my baby. I will be back.

Our non profit assisted in pulling four dogs and 1 cat that were to be euthanized July 23rd from a rescue in Neuces. Two dogs were admitted to the Nueces Veterinary Hospital on July 22, and two dogs and 1 cat on the 23rd. We were told the total balance would be $250 for vaccines and such. I received a call back Friday stating one dog had ringworm and could they treat. I said yes knowing my cost is about $40. On July 26 they called stating the needed final payment, I asked what my balance was and they said $1,095. They said the dog with ringworm was going into quarantine, (which he didn't). They said they would re-work the bill, but they did not. They had my credit number on file and did NOT have permission to run the card. THEN, we get another call that they still had to vaccinate the cat, because he was hissing on Friday so they didn't want to vaccinate him then. My card got charged another $90 WITHOUT my permission. This place is a deceiving rip off. I wish I could give them zero stars!

Clean, respectful, and professional. We brought our poodle in for a close grooming. A professional Vet took real good care of him. We also got flea care and our poodle is very comfortable now ( he's 15 years old ).

Thank you all for the support during one of my hardest decision I had to make couldn't have done it without the nurses knowing that I couldn't bare the thought of my Sissy being alone during her passing. Again thank you and I know my Sissy is in doggie heaven. Love and miss you always my Sissy ????????

We found Nueces Vet due to a need for emergency care for a porch pup that showed up. They are straight forward, honest, kind, understanding, and all around awesome with our experience so far. Im from the Austin area and I have not lucked out with such awesome vets like I have in this area. Our pup had to be hospitalized and I have been able to call every day and speak with the technician directly about our new girls progress. They also will accept Care Credit which was litterally a life saver for us! Yall are awesome, thank you!

Receptionist wasn't real friendly. Stand in doctor was great. Explained procedures and agreed with cost. Neighbors cat had bad infection in the ear and nose and eye.

The receptionist and a staff member were making comments that were inappropriate and could have been more discreet.

Ive taken my bostons to this Vet since 2013, ive ..I been pleased with the Doctor, when he sees Dogs, sometimes he doesn't exam my dog's, it's his front staff I have issues with regardless if we are walk ins, have appointments...we always get pushed to the end, or put in a room and made to wait longer than other patients. I always end up paying close to 500, for my dog's check ups, meds...I have to drive around 45 minutes to this Vet , but I do for my fur babies. But after today I will not return, we again got pushed to the end without regard..we were there before walkins, and not only was front staff rude she said we didn't have appointments, after I had made 3 yearly exams for check ups this week. . When you work with animals...you expect these people to be kind, I don't get that feeling anymore, going to hv to look for another Vet.

Excellent facility and staff. Took my bull terrier there today for a nasty case of kennel cough. He’s a bit of a needy spaz and they got him in, did his bloodwork, got him all set up and on the mend. He was madly in love with our wonderful veterinary technician and super excited about his treats on the way out. They took exceptional care of us and we will definitely be moving our crazy crew over to them!

We were Nueces Veterinary Hospital customers for 6 years, Dr. Hoke had a technician (don't remember the name), that was a great person. The doctor would check my pets and would demand for us to get all sorts of shots, medicines, tests, etc. As soon as the doctor stepped out she would tell us what was really necessary to get from that estimate (usually $300-$400 per pet) the doctor had given us. With her help we would only pay about $120 per pet. She was a loving person with our babies and very considered to us, unfortunately for us she got a better job and left. Ever since the service was really bad, there is this technician Kaitlin who is very rough with the pets, they get scared with her, and she is VERY rude to us (like Dr. Hoke). A couple of years ago I brought my cat Puffy with urinary tract infection, they put a catheter and tried to force me to leave him there for a few days, which would have cost a lot of money, I said I didn’t have the money and she said then the cat would most likely die. I asked her if someone stayed during the night to take care of the pets staying at the hospital, she said "of course not! we have a life!", so I told her then there was not point for me to leave the sick cat to stay alone during the weekend there. After the catheter was removed the cat went back to the same problem, the put the catheter again and didn't work (had already paid $600.00), then they wanted to run a series of tests for about $700 that I couldn't pay, I asked for another solution, some medication or special food he could take while I saved the money, they said only the tests would help, my cat died. Later I adopted a kitty with kidney failure, when I took it to Dr. Hoke he gave me an estimate of $450+ I told them I didn’t have the money, to give me some medicine to help him feel better, the technician (not the rude one) insisted that I had to pay for everything on that list in order to help the cat, she refused to tell me, then suddenly Dr. Hoke walked in, I realized he had been listening behind the door, and being very rude told the girl to "get out" and told me "just do the lukemia and aids tests" I explained him I didn't think those would relieve any symptom, then he said "just pick whatever you can pay from the estimate and that will help the cat" and left. I took the kitten to Tejas Veterinary, they DID NOT DEMAND for me to do the lukemia or aids tests, they checked the blood work results and recommended to wait a few months to see how the kitty developed, maybe he just needed to grow. 9 months later he started to have seizures, took him to Tejas Veterinary, they ran some tests ($120 only not $700 that DR. Hoke would have charged). The tests showed his kidneys did not develop properly, and that would not get better. They suggested to let him live while he still had a good quality of life, after another 4 months he got worse, so we put him to sleep. At Tejas they have treated us very good, every time we go they give you an estimate of what they suggest for your pet, but also tell you what is really necessary and what is just recommended, so you decide according with your possibilities. They are NEVER rude, so now our 5 pets, 2 labrador dogs and 3 cats go to Tejas Veterinary. The same 5 pets Dr. Hoke lost out of greedy. I quit going to Nueces Veterinary about 18 months ago and I am posting this now because I was just asked by a new neighbor to recommend her a veterinary, when I told her about my experience I realized I should alert others so they and their pets don't go thru the same irresponsible, inhuman and unethical treatment. I hope this review helps someone.

They were available when others were not. They allowed us to come in when others turned us away. They cared for out pet the way we love her.

The staff that I came in contact with were great! They were kind and professional. The reason I’m giving them such a poor rating is that the veterinarian never came to see my dog or even speak with me. It doesn’t make sense to me how you prescribe medication and treatment without seeing the patient. Once again the biggest issue I have with this place is that the veterinarian did not come to see my dog at all.
