I am a working dog trainer and I am beyond picky on my vets, so when I tell you that they are amazing I truly mean that. They go above and beyond because they care about myself and my working dogs weather I'm bringing them 6 crazy puppies or my retired old grumpy dogs. On top of that they get to know you by name not just a file. If you are looking for a vet you can trust this is the place and these are the people. They are always fast and reliable and they are honest with what needs to happen with your pet. If I could give them a 10 star rating I would.

Emergency surgery was performed on my dog to stitch up a dog bite wound by Dr Kottenstette on 11/6/21. The surgical area was not shaved or prepared properly causing a major infection within 4 days of the original surgery. My dog required a second surgery from a competent Vet to remove the damaged tissue and had to be stitched up on more than half her body. I fully believe that the second surgery could have been avoided if Dr Kottenstette had taken the proper time to shave, clean the area with Iodine and require my dog to wear a cone. He certainly charged for his time. Picture is after second surgery and finally home.

On October 9th my precious fur baby Pork got very ill. Every vet near me was closed, closing, or had a 3-5 hour wait, unless your pet was in critical condition. My cat was very ill. I knew deep down he need care immediately, 2 er vets made us sit in the parking lot and they would come get him. I waited and nothing. I had my mom calling vets while I was driving to every ER vet from Magnolia to Conroe. She called 242 and they said get him there. We made it, they immediately take him back. During that time my baby started having seizures. I was losing him and my heart was breaking. This place became my family, they treated Pork and I like we were theirs and they had loved him his entire life. The entire staff consoled us, prayed for us, sent us home with a care package and some of the sweetest prayers ever! I will forever use this clinic for my future babies!! 5 star rating is not enough!

This vet is honestly amazing. I would definitely recommend this vet to anyone. They were very quick when my dog got bit by a snake. They even ran test that were very quick. My dog came home feeling better and happier. All the employees were helpful and very sweet. They did an amazing job!

We have been having issues with blockage in our cat. Dr.k and his staff have been very caring and professional. They are great about communicating and making sure we understand the situation and all options available. I will always recommend them.

We found our sweet girl Pickett on the street and brought her in for a puppy exam and the people here were extremely helpful and informative as well as polite and professional. We will definitely be back for all of our fur baby's needs.

Found a stray kitty that needed attention ASAP. Called all kinds of vets trying to get him in and no such luck until this place. They got me in the same day without an appointment and all of the staff is so efficient and friendly. The vet is very professional and sure to explain things thoroughly. We will definitely be coming back for our pet needs in the future. ????❤️ 10/10 recommend.

So happy that I found this vet! Doctor K. is beyond wonderful!!! One of our big dogs jumped on our wrought iron fence (with his front paws...to bark at the neighbor's dogs) and the fence spindle went right through his paw. He was oozing blood. Of course, this happened after-hours so none of the vets near us were open. We drove to a nearby 24 hour emergency vet clinic and they told us that the wait was 4-5 hours. We sat in the car and called other emergency clinics; their wait times were between 6-8 hours. By the grace of God, we found Doc K. via a google search, called, and he told us to come right over - there was NO WAIT! We arrived in 15 minutes and he promptly stitched up our dog's paw. It was a wonderful experience. His sweet wife is the receptionist and their darling kids are often around helping around the clinic. They are a lovely family. Highly recommend Doctor K!

I was able to get a same day appointment for my dog yesterday. I thought she was having seizures, but it seems she was having syncopated episodes. Bella is an elderly, anxious chihuahua, and Dr. John was extremely gentle and patient with her. He definitely had her best interests in mind and did not want to stress her out with a bunch of unnecessary testing. I was very happy with how he handled her and that he didn’t try to take financial advantage of me. After a day and a half of medication prescribed, Bella is already starting to act like her old self. I will definitely bring our other pets here!

Rushed my puppy over after denied service (without evaluation) by VMCTW. Pup was limping after an injury in the back yard. Service was EXCEPTIONAL! They took my info over the phone and were ready for our arrival - even consoled my nerves! Love how they’re open during the weekend. After thorough exam, no broken bones, no X-ray needed, scared him more than anything. Grateful they truly cared for my fur baby. Dr. & staff were professional, frank, gentle, and courteous. I’ll be back!

Hands down best experience with any doctor!! Very knowledge, patient with us and our many questions and was happy to answer them all. Was able to work with us to get our dog Kaya in ASAP for her pains she was having and talked us through the many different options. Can tell he truly cares for the animals he treats. Would highly recommend if you need good care!

I brought my husky here for a bad stomach ache and would up spending almost $800. The vet totally took advantage of my emotions. He did all kinds of useless testing and was insistent on giving my dog an $80 shot for vomiting when he hadn’t thrown up in 3 days. Wound up giving my dog some kind of wormer but my dog had already been wormed and there was nothing in his poop afterwards. Honestly I changed my dogs food without adjusting the blend of the 2 different foods. The doctor could have told me that causes stomach aches but he played on my vulnerabilities. This was my 2nd visit with John Kottenstettle and I won’t ever go back. He wasn’t in it for my dog but rather now much he could squeeze out of me.

Dr. K and his staff are the very best!! Their care and response time is unsurpassed. My pup is always so excited and borderline feral and their patience with his is so amazing. We’re so blessed to have them in our neighborhood.

Called was quoted $54 for new appt called back 7 mins later said it went up to $75 dollars. Seems sketchy. Will find another vet. Be careful folks!

My Kitten ended up injesting some of her flea medication on the back of her neck not thinking she'd be able to reach it but somehow she did and ended up having minor muscle spasms because of it along with an eye twitch. So I called 242 Hospital and from the getgo the staff seemed very caring and responsive. When I got there the staff escorted me to the room and made me and my little bundle of joy feel welcomed and cared for. My Kitten was seen by Dr. Kottenstette and he made me feel like my Jasmine was in good hands. The whole process was smooth sailing . I am very satisfied with my choice at 242 they took very good care of my Lil Furball and am glad to say that she is making a full recovery! From now on im gonna get my flea medications from them specifically after the incident that my Lil Angel went through. Thank you 242 Hospital for helping me and Jasmine out! You guys are awesome! ????

I had a wonderful experience today at 242 Animal Hospital. I was greeted with friendly faces, and my puppy was seen as soon as I walked in the door. My dog has kennel cough and fleas, but Dr. John took care of it completely! Will definitely be back!

Dr. John is a great vet! I have a dog and 2 indoor/ outdoor cats. The cats are in at least once a month for something and he is great! His prices are reasonable and he is great to my animals. He’s also easy to get an appt with especially for emergencies. The only vet we will take our babies to!

We had a weekend emergency after 2 of our dogs got in a fight. Our usual vet couldn’t work us in, and all of the 24 hour pet emergency centers were way out of our price range. We called 242 Animal Hospital and they worked in both of our dogs within an hour and a half of our call. They were very kind, thorough, and professional, and gave our dogs great care. If they were closer to home, we would be switching all of our animals’ care to them.

I really like this place, Dr. John explains everything very clear, all the staff is very friendly and make us feel very good. Even though we are some few miles away, it is definitely worth it to take that 50 min. drive to have Dr. John take care of our pets.

Dr. Kottenstette is an excellent veterinarian. He takes very good care of my pets, he is kind and gentle with them. He also is very good at explaining what is happening with them and has always been very practical while also providing the highest level of care. This is a family practice and the service I receive is highly personal. I feel like they truly care about my pets and our family. I highly recommend this vet practice.

Overall satisfied with my experience. They were able to see my dog for a same-day appointment for an war infection. The doctor was very knowledgeable and gave clear instructions. Facility was very clean and inviting!

Dr. K is the most amazing vet we have ever interacted with. We have 2 adopted dogs and we've had quite a few issues. We had bilateral torn CCL ligaments that required surgery, a broken tail, and a significant eye infection. In all circumstances, Dr. K took such good care of our babies. We won't go anywhere else. As long as he's working, he has us as faithful and thankful clients. Could not recommend him more.
