Our almost 12 yo mini-poodle (Niki) had an ACL tear on her left knee in November 2020 and got operated in January 2021. As she was recovering she also tore the ACL on her right knee. Unfortunately we could not operate on her again as her blood reports were not favorable for another surgery. The vet who operated on Niki's left knee recommended doing therapy instead after giving her few days of initial rest. After lots of research and reading positive reviews of Advanced Care Veterinary we felt encouraged to setup the initial consultation with Dr. Stramel. He was extremely thorough in assessing Niki and recommended a plan to get her knees stabilized and stronger again, it included combination of water treadmill, laser, acupuncture therapy and home exercises. From April till date, Niki has responded extremely very well to the therapy routine and has made major strides getting better and stronger week over week. We also want to specifically call out the Heather and Lori for handling Niki with outmost care and making it a truly positive experience for her, they are simply amazing ladies and me and my wife feel very lucky to have found you. To anyone who is looking for help for their pet, I would highly recommend their services, they truly love what they do and will provide the best possible service your pet deserves.

Exceptional level of care; they have a variety of therapies and procedures available and really tailor the treatment to your dog's needs. Friendly, professional staff who are clearly passionate about what they do. If you're looking for options other than just medication, or in conjunction with medication to alleviate your dog's stiffness/pain, ACVS is the place to go!

I have taken my miniature poodle rescue for acupuncture and laser therapy with Dr Strammel for 6 years. I have complete faith in Dr Strammel that my dog is receiving the best care possible for his arthritis pain. If your pet is experiencing chronic pain, I highly recommend you have them evaluated by Dr Strammel.

Dr. Stramel treated both of my dogs, who have genetic hip problems. By August, 2020, the first dog had pain that was so bad that he would fall while running or jumping and be unable to get up for awhile. Traditional treatments had stopped working. The second dog started having significant lameness in April, 2021. Dr. Stramel clearly explained a range of treatment options and the relative success that I could expect from each of them. I selected stem cell and platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment for the first dog and PRP for the second dog. Both also received physical rehabilitation treatments. They both showed improvement within the normal recovery time frame for these procedures, about three months. Almost a year later, the first dog has no measurable pain and continues to improve. The second dog is still on physical rehabilitation and has little pain. In brief, if you follow Dr. Stramel's recommendations and instructions for follow-up care, you will be pleased with the results, even if you don't understand the science behind the treatments. He gives the dog a better quality of life within the limits of veterinary science and the dog's original condition. The fact that my dogs have hip problems will never change, but his treatments minimized their pain so that they are fully functional. The treatments may need to be repeated in the future. From my research, there are only two clinics in the DFW area that specialize in physical rehabilitation and pain management, and my own vet indicated that Dr. Stramel is the best and that his acupuncture treatments are the most effective. The doctor and his staff treat my dogs very well. They are supportive and precise. It appears to me that the staff collect subjective comments from the client and translate them into objective technical terms so that Dr. Stramel can apply this information to the underlying science behind treatments, so that the dog gets the most applicable treatment at the right time. I have recommended him to many of my associates without reservation.

Our Bullmastiff tore both of her ACL's and was 44lbs over weight. Dr. Stramel put together a plan to help strengthen both of her legs and with the weight loss. As of July 2021, Karma has lost the 44lbs in about 18 months! When she tore the ACL in her other leg, I immediately called Dr. Stramel and he scheduled her with their Orthopedic Surgeon (first one was done by our vet which we do not recommend). The day after her surgery, she tried running to us like she didn't have surgery at all which we were amazed by. Her recovery from the second surgery has been night and day compared to the first one. Since her second surgery and physical therapy, she is the spunkiest we have ever seen her and full of energy now. Dr. Stramel has always been very up front and honest with us from day one. He is also very passionate about what he does and I wish he could be our regular vet because I trust what he tells us. His Team is awesome as well! They love on Karma during her appointments and take such amazing care of her. With all that being said, we HIGHLY recommend Dr. Stramel, his team and practice.

We are so grateful for Dr. Stramel and his staff! This past February, our 12-year old pug Bugsy had neurological issues to the point where he was unable to walk, kept knuckling, and had to be carried everywhere. Our regular vet suggested we put him down. We thought it was too soon since his vitals were healthy and he still loved to eat. Our vet then suggested we pull a Hail Mary and see a specialist, which led us to Dr. Stramel. Dr. Stramel has unmatched knowledge, and is more importantly, honest. After 6 weeks of acupuncture, laser therapy, and using the Assisi loop he was walking again. After 3 months and 3 underwater treadmill sessions, he is now running quickly. He also looks forward to their delicious yogurt treat during therapy! Dr. Stramel and his staff are miracle workers and we are so thankful they took a second chance on Bugsy and saved his life!

My goldendoodle Oscar was 13 when we saw Dr. Stramel. 2 weeks prior, he was panting heavily and in a lot of pain; his primary vet did blood test/internal organs X-ray but couldn't find anything wrong. We even discussed euthanasia should his condition deteriorated. Since Oscar had arthritis and been on Adequan injections for 2-3 years, I reached out to Dr. Stramel hoping that acupuncture could ease his joint pain during his final days. Dr. Stramel uncovered Oscar had left shoulder tendonitis thru physical exam; hip dysplasia, spine spondylosis thru X-ray. No wonder Oscar was in a lot of pain! With acupuncture and laser therapy treatments, Oscar stopped panting and back to his usual self. He was well enough to do under water treadmill in a few weeks. Unfortunately he accidentally tripped over a curb one day and injured his right knee (which already looked bad in prior Xray). He couldn't put weight on it and had difficulty walking again. Dr. Stramel recommended PRP treatment and that really helped improve his mobility. We actually went on longer walks after that. We finally let him go when his hip dysplasia deteriorated so much that it required surgery. We didn't want him to go thru painful surgery/recovery at 13. We are forever grateful that we had 7 extra quality months with Oscar and got to enjoy extra Thanksgiving/Christmas with him. Most importantly, to see your dog relieved from pain was the greatest comfort I had.

Dr. Stramel and his staff are amazing. We went from having a dog that was paralyzed on his back end and ER vets suggesting we euthanize to a dog that is walking into his own now! Do NOT give up on your pets! Go see Dr. Stramel for help for your furbabies!

Gracie is a tripod dog; her front left leg and shoulder were amputated a few years ago. She has arthritis in her good (only) front leg yet that sure doesn't stop her from running, however, she was slowing down and her weight was up a bit. The Underwater Treadmill Training reduces stress on her joints while strengthening muscles. We go once a week for conditioning now that her weight is ideal and she loves it! Also, the staff is awesome... since she goes regularly, they KNOW her and noticed an issue with her ear - they caught it before it turned serious. Without hesitation, Gracie and I highly recommend them to anyone who has a pet in pain. Gracie has regained her quality of life and enjoys her long runs outside again. They are amazing!

My dog had a herniated disc that caused spinal stroke, So my vet Dr Mark O Gorman recommended Dr Stramel to help her to walk again with with acupuncture and was the best decision we ever made, This occur on June 4 and her back legs were paralyzed and now as of Aug 27, she can walk without difficulty, tile is still hard for her but everywhere else she is fine, Thank you from the bottom of our heart and will be forever grateful, Dr Stramel and Lori are both wonderful and very nice and caring. Jenny is so much happier now that she can walk and as the weeks went by you could tell she was getting better and stronger each week.

Update: It has been well over a year since Dr Stramel performed PRP injections on Peisley. With her continued acupuncture and laser therapy every 5 weeks, she is living her best life. She chases her doggie brother, Tobin, around effortlessly and is able to jump 33 inches onto our bed. Recently, Tobin, our 9 year old Shar Pei, had been intermittently holding up his hind leg after being treated (by our primary vet) for an abscess. Dr Stramel thoroughly examined Tobin and believed it was a bone infection. After additional testing, Dr Stramel’s diagnosis was confirmed. Tobin was prescribed numerous antibiotics and pain medications which have completely eliminated his limp. Dr Stramel offers hope for individuals looking for non-surgical procedures for their beloved animals. Our 4 year old Chinese Shar Pei, Peisley, was diagnosed with ACL tears in both hind legs and was referred to a surgical center by our primary vet. The surgeon recommended TPLO surgery and dismissed any alternatives. After an exhaustive search on the internet, I found Advanced Care Veterinary Services. Dr Stramel informed us of numerous non-surgical options and we chose PRP injections with PT (acupuncture and laser therapy). Dr Stramel and his fantastic staff have worked wonders for Peisley. Only 5 short months since the injections, she is running around with the zoomies and jumping on the couch. With monthly acupuncture and laser therapy maintenance sessions, she is able to live her life to the fullest and pain free thanks to ACVS. Dr Stramel and his staff truly care for the well being of Peisley, even when she’s being a handful! We highly recommend ACVS.

It's been about a year since we found Dr. Strammel after seeing 5 different vets and specialists who were unable to diagnose why my 10 year old aussie was in severe pain on her front right shoulder and were already talking about amputation. This vet knew within 5 minutes she had medial shoulder instability and the path we needed to take. We started with PRP and shockwave therapy followed up by months of underwater treadmill, vibration plate and acupuncture. We got her off the steroids and down to just rimadyl. The hobbles helped wonderfully as well and I still use them when she's going to be running. She's not a young dog but I think she has made a remarkable recovery this past year and feel confident about her quality of life.

I have a corgi puppy who was constantly limping and we were told before seeing Dr. Stramel that she would need knee surgery. I went to meet with Dr. Stramel to get a second opinion (thank goodness I did). With the tests he did we shortly realized that her hip was the issue. He diagnosed her with hip dysplasia and we did acupuncture, laser therapy, and stem cell therapy. Now Ava can actually be a puppy. She is not limping and has all the energy in the world. I am so thankful for this amazing staff! They are so warm and welcoming and always make sure I know exactly what is going on with my dog. Ava and I love Dr. Stramel and his staff and would highly recommend them.

I had all but lost hope that my 8yo dog, Gracie, could be helped with a terrible limp that she had in her back leg. Before finding Dr. Stramel, I had taken her to several vets and even a orthopedic surgeon, but none could tell me exactly what her injury was or how to help her. A dear friend shared with me about the wonders of acupuncture and how it might really help Gracie, so I made an appointment. The thing that I appreciated the most about Dr. Stramel was that he was so about my dog! He got down on the floor with her and did a very thorough examination and told me right then what he believed the problem was and how he might help her. We started with weekly acupuncture and laser treatments, and within 2 weeks there was such a change in Gracie! She no longer severely limped and her intense desire to play returned. Dr. Stramel also took Gracie off Rimadyl and put her on a different anti inflammatory that I feel much better about giving her. I’m so grateful for the care and attention that we received at Advanced Care Veterinary Services. Dr. Stramel and Lori are a Godsend and have given me such a precious gift in giving me my dog back.

Dr. Strammel is the BEST. My dachshund needed help - he was barely able to walk and facing expensive surgery. Now we see Dr. Strammel for acupuncture and he's back to the happy dog he once was. And he loves his frozen treat at every visit. Highly recommend!

Dr. Stramel provides thoughtful, individualized care for animals with complex pain/neurologic issues without trying to rope you into long-term contracts. We take two of our three dogs to ACV; as a result, their quality of life has greatly improved. We highly recommend Dr. Stramel and his practice.
