The people who run this place really care about the animals. I recently got a kitten from here & he already had been fixed, microchipped, received shots, dewormer & flea/tick medicine. They also gave me a voucher for a free vet visit, cat toys, food, & a cat kennel. There are so many adorable kittens for adoption there, I highly recommend adopting from this place!! 2 year update: Sithis has become the most loving cuddly cat ever!! He’s never had any heath problems at all & he’s definitely a mommas boy! Will do anything for a belly rub :) thanks BHS!!

Wonderful place to adopt a pet. Very caring people and very nice facility. I'm not sure if it's a no kill shelter, but I do help with donations of supplies. Please consider donating to this great organization. If you can't financially then consider donating blankets and towels. Pillow cases are great for cats too.

The folks here were kind enough to take a stray dog that we couldn't find an owner for. Their facility was clean and they are a no kill shelter. They were very accommodating and I would recommend them if you are looking to adopt a pet.

Penny is the best, she was kind and patient and you can really tell she loves all the animals there and really wants for the pets to find a forever home and the right family to adopt. Love it, ❤️

Our first adoption dog turned out to be deaf. They had no clue. Our 2nd dog from here had intractable social issues with people and other dogs. We won't be back.

After the loss of our sweet furbaby, the silence of paws on the floor were heartbreaking. So we decided to give another four legged angel a loving home.The Bulverde Area Humane Society is our local shelter. I was impressed with the love and care these awaiting animals to be adopted receive and clean facility. Thank you, that same day we added an addition to our family ???????????? he knows he's in his forever home!????????????

The staff and volunteers that work here are true Angel's. I brought in a very very sick baby kitten covered in infection and fleas and they did everything they could possibly do to get him healthy. They even sent me home with everything I needed to continue his care. They truly care deeply about all of their animals. You guys are the absolute best and THANK YOU for everything you do ❤❤❤❤❤

Old fashion shelter. Love that it is no kill. Mostly leg dogs when I visited. Didn't seem too keen on bringing in more volunteers.

Awesome no kill shelter animals unfortunately don't seem to leave the shelter often I volunteered there and than stopped for about a year and came back and alot of dogs were still there

This place truly cares about the animals they have! We adopted to female Shepard mixes last year. Anytime I email or call with questions they have been quick to respond and guide in the direction we need. The girls coats have always been soft and thick from day one. They are upfront and honest with everything the know about the animals. They want to find the perfect match for you and your family ????

Big hearts run this place, come adopt a or cat that is waiting for a permanent big heart and a place to call home!

Awesome place to adopt a dog. I personally never adopted a dog from here but the place is mostly volunteer run and take excellent care of the dogs. Came here because one time I came here to read to some dogs and cats. This is the place to find a new family member!

The people who work & volunteer here are awesome. They truly care about the animals & work hard to find them loving homes. They are a true NO-KILL shelter, which is very important to me.

We recently moved to the area. My son is a huge animal lover and really wanted a cat. So we went to the BAHS and they were so friendly. They let us wander around looking for the right fit. We ended up with a set of 5 year old sisters. They are the sweetest things. BAHS was great. They sent us home with carriers, food bowls, blankets, food and even a couple toys. If you are wanting to adopt a pet I would highly recommend coming here. These two have quickly become part of the family! Update: It's been almost a year and we love these little girls so much! In the beginning they were timid and kinda stayed to themselves (except for treat time,lol) but now they are even becoming lap cats. Diamond wants all her humans all the time, so if someone is in the bathroom she meows - loudly.

Wonderful and caring staff. All the animals are well taken care of and loved. We rescued our sweet Matteo there.
