Update: something to add to the top of the review. It has taken four Phone calls over the span of three days to get a medication refill. Every time we need to reorder her medication it’s the biggest hassle ever. Don’t press three for a medication reorder they will loose your voice message Been going here for awhile now, I feel that this place client load is too big to handle, since it’s walk in, it’s causing you to wait for a long time for anything to be done. Belton in general seems to have a very high pet population and a very low amount of vets needed to take care of them. I have always been treated nicely for the most part but sometimes I feel that you are just being pulled in, told to wait and pushed out as fast as they can causing me to question some judgments made. Especially financially, I have been handed thousands of dollar bills when they are about to do something and have to advocate for being reasonable beforehand. For example my dog had already had X-Rays and joint taps done on her R back leg but when she started also limping on her L back leg they want to redo everything to her and put her thru sedation and suffering because it was a different leg. When really the option was to just go to the next plan which was to medicate.. maybe that’s just the vet business in general now everywhere.I appreciated the professionalism of the vet to listen to my opinion and what I wanted done for my pet. everyone is very knowledgeable and will answer your questions with kindness. I have never seen anyone treat animals with a mean spirit here. Overall belton small animal clinic does what needs to be done which is treat your pet the best they can. Another add on: it’s not really a walk in clinic anymore. It’s a wake up at 7am to jump onto an online waitlist to stare at your phone all day and waste all of your day waiting at home to then finally get into the clinic sometime. And your competing with everyone else doing that.

I have to say that the people are nice and it is good they have the waiting list, however the prices are higher than most Veterinarian Clinics in the area. This place would probably be my last resort if I had to go back.

Today we took one of our six cats to the Belton Small Animal Hospital because she was showing uncharacteristic signs of anxiety and being upset. We have used this clinic in the past, and loved it. This was going to be our go-to clinic. No longer.m My wife brought her in, in a crate. Again, the reason for the visit was because of an uncharacteristically anxious cat. The techs did some evaluations within the room, and it was clear the cat was not pleased, and very scared (as many cats get). So the staff takes her to get a urine sample by carrying her down the hall not in the crate, and at least when they left the room, she wasn't even wrapped in a towel. On the way back, the staff had her near a dog, which frightened her, and the staff restrained her. She bit the tech. I feel zero sympathy for the staff. I'm sorry, but animals at the vet are already generally scared, cats are known even more so than dogs for being scared when leaving the house, and then you introduce her (obvious inadvertently) to an even worse situation, and get bit. Now, we were prepared to feel bad for the staff and even bring the tech a sympathy card because we never want people to get injured. But the worst part - THEY CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL on our cat and claimed it was mandatory. What is the result? Animal control can force us to quarantine an already upset animal (the reason for the visit in the first place) for TEN DAYS, at OUR expense, for a situation THEY created. Our cat, which they know, is an indoor-only cat that is fully vaccinated with regular checkups and fully available medical records. And she had nothing wrong with her after testing, aside from slight inflammation. Lastly, the staff expressed lack of knowledge on FIV, essentially claiming that an FIV cat cannot be around other non-FIV cats asking if we had them separated and the FIV cat confined to a different room. If you don't know, FIV is an incurable disease in cats that is generally transmitted through extreme territorial fighting (deep puncture wounds, etc) and cannot be transmitted via sharing food, swatting at each other, or to humans - unlike FeLV, which is the cat version of leukemia, and is HIGHLY contagious. You can search for "fiv cats can be around other cats" and look for the articles showing that it is not an issue. My cousin is a vet in PA and even mentioned that their Humane Society has FIV-positive cats in with general population. Combined, we will never bring our cats back here. If animal control decides to call us and force us to pay to quarantine and stick our baby in another bad situation, we will be forced to make a much bigger deal than just a negative review.

They took care of my fur baby Olie. We get our shots and nail trims there. He hates having his paws touched but they do a great job.

My little puppers Buddy hurt one of his kickstands. His normal vet could not get him. I contacted Belton Small Animal Hospital and from the jump, they were professional and caring. We got on the waiting list and within a few hours he was seen and back in action. They were all wonderful! Not only would I recommend BSAH but I can tell you this, Buddy just got a new doc! I can't speak for all of their services but for the work we had done, it was incredibly reasonable! We've all been hit with some bills that are just disrespectful before but I honestly feel that BSAH cares as much about humans as they do the critters! BSAH, thank you for taking such great care of Buddy!

Recently I couldn’t get my doggies in at their regular vet to get them updated on their shots so I tried Belton Small Animal Hospital. OMG first of all, super nice staff (even on the phone) second, they were so thorough. They cleared my pups up of other infections and rashes that I’d been dealing with for MONTHS with no help from the other vet. This place is the place to be if you care about your pups!

After a week of watching my elderly pup suffer due to the indifference of another vet , I was lead to believe I could purchase the med that I already had a prescription for. Then, it turned into having to see their doctor. I was sobbing and my girl was miserable. I'd dopped just under$200 for a med that I still didn't have and now this. Another $100 gone and a feeling that veterinarians are the new predatory car mechanics . My girl has her med and a $40 pill cost me $300. Trust gone.

I cannot say enough good about the Belton Small Animal Hospital! Within 12 minutes of opening, their waitlist had reached 22 people and I would not have been able to get an appointment for several hours. When I described what was wrong with Penny to the tech up front, she was very kind and suggested that I bring in a fecal sample. I brought it in 20 minutes later. After about an hour we found out that she had tape worms, but no medication could be prescribed without an examination. Because I live around an hour away, the vet was able to get me an early spot on the waitlist and we were seek within 45 minutes. A great experience! So accommodating, kind, and cared well for my puppy. I would absolutely recommend!

Dr. Brandi Roberts is the best vet I have been too, as well as her assistant. I have never been to a vet that was so detailed in gathering my baby’s history , calling to get records and clearly explaining what they found, what my options were and telling me what I should expect. Not to mention, My baby was a new patient and saw us immediately after explaining what my girls symptoms. I wish we lived here so I could have her for our babies. Thank you so much for everything that you did for us.

They don’t care about anyone else who has to work. They make you get on wait list and if you’re not able to come whenever your up, then you have to get on the wait list the next day. They use to be so good and reliable, and now I’m having to change to another vet. I will never go to them again and I will let everyone know how horrible their professional services have got. I do NOT recommend the belton small animal clinic ever to anyone.. unless you are use to be ran by others..

I am actually in the phone with this clinic as I’m typing this message! I was initially put on hold then asked to hold a second time. After that I just keep getting put back on hold without even being asked if I minded to continue to hold!!! Going on 13 mins now!!! Very unprofessional!

We have been bringing our dog here for about 12 yrs. It used to be Drs. Hankins and Davis. Dr. Davis left and Dr. Dunkleberger came but is gone now too. Found out today that Dr. Hankins has retired. Not sure what we will do now.

They used to be so good. And now they are overpriced and almost impossible to get an appointment. My last one I got there before they opened and still waited almost 3 hours. Today I went and got my dogs medical records (#15 on the waitlist despite checking in as soon as it let me) and went to the vet near the shelter in temple. It took me about 25 minutes total and was 94$ instead of over 200. Also had issues with the front desk girls being extremely rude a couple times. One vet bill was close to 300 which was overwhelming and she goes "well can you pay it or what" when I said the price seemed really high. I said excuse me and she was like "oh I didn't mean anything by it haha"

I rarely give bad reviews and hate to be a Karen but when I’ve had multiple bad instances I feel that it is due. Simply put: You will be waiting all day (either on the phone or in person) and they will try and drain you of your money. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time here!

I don't know if not reliable is the right choice. I have....had....a dog named Henry. Henry was a Boston Terrier and I had brought him in because I had a good experience with a puppy I had to bring in not long before. I wanted another opinion about Henry regarding his heart disease and no improvement of symptoms from medications at past vet. (This original vet gave him some type of new steroid sort of pill that wasn't seeming to help) I brought Henry's records and most recent chest Xrays. I was told his heart sounded fine and no fluid was heard, I was told the xrays did not look bad and was given COUGH TABS for him... yes...COUGH TABLETS. At first those helped...didn't take long for them to not help though... Went to another vet who confirmed what FIRST original vet said (the one before belton small animal clinic) and my Henry was actually worse heart wise AND his heart was CLEARLY enlarged and that's why symptoms didn't improve with dosage of medication changes from first vet. My new vet(3rd vet) was able to give me some medications that helped Henry a little bit due to the issues going on from his heart to at least help him stay calmer and breathe somewhat better and to help keep more fluid out (upped lasix dosage and added viagra that helped stop his syncope episodes. Viagra is commonly used in dogs with heart issues and pulmonary hypertension. My Henry succomed to his heart failure May 20 2021 3 months and 20 days after Belton Small animal clinic said his heart xray looked fine and he sounded fine and gave me cough tabs for his heart failure.

I've been taking my pets here for about two years (all five of them!) and have always been satisfied with the care they receive. It's nice knowing that no matter which doc you see, they will be well taken care of. Recently, my 14 year old lab had to have dental treatment and I was very anxious about the anesthesia. The staff was very accommodating and reassuring as the procedure went on. Dr Roberts took time mid procedure to give me a call to update me on how my pup was doing. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that and how much better it made me feel!

Seriously the best place my pets have ever been cared for at. If I could give 100 stars I would. The staff are friendly and caring, the doctors are knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is one that makes it hard to leave. This place blew me away. Thank you guys for being so awesome!

I have never been treated with more patience and compassion than at this clinic. We had an emergency Visit during the ice storm and it was our first time there. The staff was amazing and caring. We were offered a check up visit after words and were not charged. They really do care.

Brought my dog to get staples taken out (should’ve taken 15 min max) and they forgot I was waiting and it took an hour. The staff is really nice, it just seems like they aren’t on top of it.

Belton small animal clinic is by far the best place we have EVER taken our loved ones. We recently lost a puppy (13 yr old dog), the care that they took with him was supreme. They are really concerned about the animals. DR. Hankins' bed side manner as well as all the other doctors and staff is remarkable. They show genuine sympathy and empathy for the loved one as well as the owner.
