To preface: After a month of tests we were incredibly fortunate that our awesome vet Dr. Corcoran (Buttercup Vet) understood my dog Sage (20lb. Boston Terrier) needed a little more specialized help because there was a giant mass in her that was undiagnosable with their equipment. The experience: Part one- We got the referral on a Thursday to see Dr. Weinstein, we were given an option for a next day appointment or a Monday appointment to possibly do a consultation and surgery so I chose the latter. We ended up being fortunate enough that Dr. Weinstein saw it fitting to perform surgery the same day and had time in the schedule. He was incredibly educational and made sure we understood what was about to happen, possible outcomes, treatments, and any protocol. Part two-The Surgery I was kept in the loop about absolutely everything. Dr. Weinstein and the VCA staff made me feel so much more at ease before the surgery that my Sage was going to be treated with love and compassion. I was given frequent status updates about the surgery and how Sage was doing in it. Dr Weinstein called shortly after it was completed to inform me of Sages stability, which was shaky due to the nature of the mass removed and how her body was reacting, but he was confident in a treatment plan and that made me feel confident too. Part three- Post Op I received pictures of Sage and updates on her total health, food intake, potty breaks, mood, everything from the absolutely incredible staff. Not having your dog for two nights after a major surgery is very nerve wracking, but I was able to sleep at night knowing that people really were looking after Sage not only to keep her alive but to keep her calm and comfortable were there. Part four- The follow up I received multiple calls on multiple days to make sure Sage was doing well at home. Even on weekends. Dr Weinstein really cared to make sure that even though she was home out of his direct care, that she was healthy and healing properly. We received her biopsy results about a week later due to labor day weekend and are so blessed that the mass was benign. If you are in a scary position like I was with my beautiful Sage, I highly recommend using Dr Weinstein and the associated VCA staff. I am still in shock by how absolutely incredible the whole experience was, even if things had turned for the worse as they can with the way critically ill animals can go, I know that they would do anything to stop it from happening while making my baby feel safe and loved.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Dr. Strottner and her team are so kind hearted and professional. Throughout my cat’s cancer treatment, they were understanding, sympathetic, transparent, and so incredibly kind. They always thoroughly explained all of my options and helped me through this in every way. When my cat inevitable passed away a few months ago, they mailed me a book called “Cat Heaven” with handwritten condolences and kind thoughts. I am so thankful for everything they did to help me spend more time with my beloved cat. I would recommend this place to everyone who wants quality treatment for their pet.

The vets and vet techs here are wonderful, and I couldn't be happier with them...but unfortunately my experience with the front desk staff has not been pleasant. The first visit it wasn't explained to me that we were supposed to do curbside and the receptionist was rude to me the entire time when I tried to go inside with my dog for his first cancer treatment. Twice I've been "forgotten" about while waiting to drop my dog off and had to wait no less than 30 minutes without any warning, causing me to be late for work each time; when calling back to remind them we are out front waiting, the front desk personnel acts annoyed rather than apologetic. I get that we are all busy, but both times other people have showed up after me and dropped their pets off before we get acknowledged and the vet techs explained that they had just recently been notified that we were there. At least I know my dog gets good care from the team once there, I just wish I could say I had better experiences with the front desk team there.

My cat, Squeak, was with VCA for nearly a month for radiation treatment. The staff and Dr. Trueil are all very kind, professional, and compassionate people and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for high quality of care and affordable costs. I received daily updates and pictures to keep my mind at ease and all of my questions and concerns were explained thoroughly and with confidence of encouraging hope. Special shout out to *Ana* for making friends with Squeak - who hates going to the Doctor ! FIVE (5) stars !

We are 3 radiation treatments in after 4 visits to the clinic to treat my big guy's oral melanoma. Dr. Treuil and his staff have been wonderful with communication and taken in our dog as if it were their own each visit. The staff is charismatic and transparent. Although all staff members and technicians have been friendly and helpful, Ana sticks out as a tremendous staff/technician with my boy and her sincere and dedicated (not to mention fun to talk to) approach to his care has been wonderful. The work these people do can be costly, but I am grateful we have such a talented team in Austin to do the work that could save my boy from his sickness or at least make him more comfortable in his senior years.

Our son's cancer treatment has been an extremely difficult period of our lives. It took 3 months between diagnosis and the end of his treatment, the last month of which was spent going to this veterinary hospital 5 days a week. During this time we were so lucky to have the amazing staff take care of our boy. He was always so happy to be there and they clearly loved having him around. Thank y'all so much for the exceptional care you gave him. Y'all helped make a very difficult time much easier with us knowing he was getting the best love and care he could get while away from us.

We were referred here after our cat Rocket had surgery on a mass in his chest that wasn’t able to be completely removed by the surgeon, so she referred us here for oncology. The compassion & care we got was excellent & as per his usual M.O. everyone loved Rocket & were very caring with him. It was a challenging situation for us, we spent a lot for an unsuccessful surgery & were limited in our resources to continue advanced options for care. I found the VCA staff to be very thoughtful & accommodating in helping us find the most cost affective paths for treatment w/o exacerbating our finances. The staff knew Rocket well & looked forward to seeing him (he was a charmer). Even when Dr. Strottner was out for maternity leave the Doctors covering for her were great & we appreciated the extra care Tabby showed whenever we visited... every staff member we interacted with showed us care & respect. Rocket fought on for 9 brave months, sometimes convincing us he’d be okay... but we knew no matter how well he hid his suffering that the unnamed cancer in his chest was not going to relent. Gradually, then suddenly his condition worsened & we knew it was time to let him rest. Making the decision to let him go was heart wrenching & this is where the compassion & professionalism of VCA really showed true. Dr. Strottner & Tabby made sure I was ready, they continued to show the utmost care for Rocket & made sure we were both comfortable. He left this world knowing that he was loved dearly, not alone or afraid. Once I had my time to cry & collect myself I lost it all again when I saw his little kitty coffin labeled with hearts on either side of his name. He was so loved, we’re devastated to lose him but thankful for the compassionate care from VCA during this time. The other vets we visited along the way were wonderful as well, but it was clear that we were in the best care possible for how everything played out. They even took care to make sure the lobby was cleared so I could leave quietly once I had enough time to grieve & compose myself. I wish our story was different in that I wish the cancer that took Rocket had never existed or that we had the resources to fight it w/ every option available & a miracle of modern science & prayer kept Rocket w/ us for years to come. But that is not our story & despite the ending the staff at VCA showed us an exceptional level of care, kindness & compassion. Rocket’s story ended in the right place w/ the right people caring for him where he knew how much he was loved.

Two of my golden retrievers have been treated here - one for cancer and one for inflammatory bowel disease. The treatments were about 2 years apart. When we returned the second time, everyone greeted me and my dog like old friends. During a very stressful time, that helped a lot. When my first dog was treated for cancer, he actually liked going for chemo. He was comfortable there and I think may have fallen in love with his oncologist. :-) He had a prognosis of one month at the time of our first visit and he was alive, with a great quality of life for thirteen months. Quite a gift for him and for me. My second golden had been seriously ill for about 2 weeks and no one could find out what was wrong. The internist here diagnosed him correctly and treated him so that he was happy and eating well. I cannot recommend Dr. Strottner (oncology) and Dr. Stiller (internist) too highly. The techs and front office staff are warm, friendly and at the same time professional. I will bring my dogs back here should the need arise.

Excellent experience! Everyone at this vet is kind and cares about animals. I brought my pup in for some diagnostics for a malignant MAST cell tumor. Not only did they diagnose the MAST cell, they were so efficient they found two more malignancies that I hadn't even seen! The vet tech, Tabitha, especially is an angel. I TRUST and highly recommend this vet.
