I rescued a puppy this week and went to Thrive because it was walking distance from my house. I was very pleasantly surprised by them from start to finish! Denise at the front desk was warm and welcoming and followed up with me after the appointment. Our tech Cynthia and Dr. Higdon were both so sweet and gentle with my new pup. They both took the time to answer all of my new parent questions gladly. The appointment was fast, simple and fairly priced!

I’ve only been here a couple times, & it has been a great experience! The front desk coordinator always super sweet. Vet techs in back and dr’s have always treated my doggo with so much luv. We appreciate you guys!

This place is pretty affordable, and I enjoyed interacting with the doctors and front desk in person. We usually plan our visits 3 weeks to a month in advance due to the lack of availability. This is okay. What really disappointed me is that we scheduled an appointment 3 weeks in advance and approximately 4 days before the appointment we called to check for any earlier date since our pet's health deteriorated. They cancelled our original appointment, booked a new appointment the day of a winter storm, and then cancelled the new appointment. We didn't know they cancelled the original appointment or the new appointment until we called a few hours before our new scheduled appointment. I don't plan on returning, which is really unfortunate, because other than this, I did like my experience.

The staff here is so sweet. My yorkie is super anxious normally but is very comfortable here.

A great affordable vet care clinic. My pug needed a dental and they were the most affordable in Austin. They checked on her and kept me updated throughout the surgery.

Affordable with super kind staff! Just moved from out of town and all I needed was flea medicine. In and out quick and they even made sure I knew I could get the same medication online for less now that I had a prescription. Good people just looking out for y!

I started bringing my two dogs to Thrive Petcare about 6 months ago. Initially, I was impressed with the pricing and the people who I worked with at their La Mesa and Santee locations. They seemed very accommodating and kind: Sadly, the good prices pale in comparison to their horrible customer service by phone. All calls to the vet are handled through a central call center, which means I can never actually speak with the people at the actual vet’s location without going in, in person. Today was the last straw. I have been trying for one week to get them to fax a prescription to a third party pharmacy. They refuse to send the fax and are telling me the only way it will get filled is if I go to the store, in person, and pick it up. Other issues include making it next to impossible to schedule vet visits within a reasonable period of time. There is never any availability when I need it. I also can’t schedule vet tech appointments and n the app or online. I always have to go into to the store to get those scheduled because the call center is absolutely useless. Thanks Thrive, but I am moving on. You’ve lost a customer that brings in about $1200 to $1400 in revue per year.

Wow. We are thrilled with Thrive. Cynthia made us feel valued while educating us about our Miss Flora's health. She went above and beyond, giving us the name of ear solution to buy, heartworm rebates, and flea collar info. From start to finish, we all loved our visit. The front office human was also a delight. Dr. Thompson is most kind with a beaming goodness aura. What a team. #Grateful

We are so impressed with the quality of care at the Oltorf Road facility. Denise always greets us with a smile and has a “can do” attitude. Dr. Higdon is very competent and personal and his assistant Alice is a great right hand “man”. We have tried 4 other practices for our dogs here in Austin. We have found a medical home for our dogs. ~Dr. Geoff Higgs

Chance loves this vet. But a couple of weeks ago he tested positive for heartworm... So they give me an estimate of $550 for the procedure. I go back a week later to get his antibiotics and they say they made an error on the last estimate. Now it's over $1,000. What happened to affordable!? Now I have to take him to an unfamiliar vet (emancipet) for a procedure that's painful for chance. It's also very far for me since I have to take the bus. Thrive is 1.5 mls away and emancipet is like 10miles and 2 bus's. I've never been here. I've only gone through thrive affordable. Why pay for thrive VIP if it doesn't even help with something like this.? And they didn't seem to really care about an error that they made. No apology or nothing. I think they should have honored the first estimate. So disappointed.

No one answered the phone for the curbside appointment that I scheduled (and I double checked this morning to make sure that they had me down for curbside) so I went in for my dog's appointment. The receptionist in the lobby wore her mask down over her chin with her mouth and nose uncovered. Thankfully there weren't a lot of people in the lobby. When I got a follow-up rabies vaccine at other clinics, it was good for five years. The tech there told me that vaccines given in some places were good for five years but Thrive's is only good for three. Seems to me they're probably getting inferior and cheaper stuff. Thrive used to be good. Lately it's impossible to get an appointment within a day or so for a sick dog. Seems like they've gotten second rate for healthy care.

This place is so frustrating during the pandemic. I had an appointment scheduled last year and when I arrived and called the number several times and waited over 10 minutes nobody responded. I left without getting my appointment or a hold of anyone. Today I arrive 10 minutes late to one appointment and 3 minutes late to another (stacked time) and they tell me that I completely missed my appointment and can’t schedule again until July. They answered the phones on time this time though. I’m going to a different location. I am low income and low on time right now and am trying my best but can’t work with how things seem to operate or don’t. I was hoping I could get at least one appointment since they messed up my last one. Meanwhile I had cat throw up in my car from the ride. I’m tired.

I have been going to thrive for a few years and have never been treated so rude by the tech called Rachael. She knows ZERO customer service. And I have paid thousands of dollars paying for the VIP subscription which I will be cancelling. If you don't like working with Pets and there owners Rachael needs another profession.

Went in over the weekend for annual vaccines and decided to get my dog's leg x-rayed because she has had a limp after running and playing vigorously. The initial vet said it looks like a minor ruptured CCL and that he would send it off to radiology and we should hear back later that day. 3 days later we keep calling and no one will answer the phone, they tell us no one is available, we cant have the x-ray records unless we talk to the vet. Multiple calls later a vet texts us saying the radiology results hasnt even been sent back, then I call at the end of the day and the results are in, but guess what. Its 10 minutes til close and the vets "have all left" to go over results. Unprofessional.

They wouldn’t let us go in with our kitty and made us wait in the car. They said it’s because of COVID, but honestly COVID is almost over, guys. People aren’t even required to wear masks anymore and you’re telling me I can’t go in to see the vet with my cat? Is the vet asking the cat questions? We should be there to see what they’re doing and answer questions the vet might have. They even let someone in when you go to the human ER, unbelievable I can’t go in with my pet to his appointment.

Worst vet experience in a long time. I routinely use Thrive but to have a vet appointment that basically we came out with more questions than answers was unacceptable. We got no diagnosis other than it could be a lot of things and the vet didn’t even have the courtesy to allow my boyfriend to call me when they chatted. He said he was busy and had other patients waiting. The wrong medication was called into our pharmacy and even after calling their call center it was not corrected. Save yourself the time and frustration and find another vet.

I definatly got forgotten about on hold. This is not a place for emergency situations since appointments are mandatory and can vary in availability. They took great care of my dog for a good price. The vet was kind and helpful, but I got extremely lucky to see them early. I will definitely come back here. I would go to emancapet for emergencies and here for anything else. Even then emancapet has been good but not great in service like here.

A super sweet veterinarian took good care of my cat. Unlike previous vets I have been to, I legit trusted this veterinarian right away. Very good vibes. Highly recommend.

I hate to leave a bad review, but our last experience at the Oltorf location was really bad. We took our two dogs in to renew their vaccinations- all good there. One of our dogs has been having trouble getting up the stairs, so we asked if the doctor would please check him out. He's around 8-9, so we assumed he might have the beginnings of arthritis and were thinking he might need some pain meds. Apparently this isn't what Dr. Joaquin Sosa thought. When he spoke to us after the examination, he heavily insinuated that we had hurt our dog somehow on purpose. If we didn't love our dog, why would we be spending the time and money to make sure he's okay? Why would we be so concerned about him? Dr. Sosa tried to guilt trip us hard, which we did not respond to. He then prescribed us some anti-inflammatory medication to give him for two weeks which did not help at all. He told us we should wait and "see if it clears up." He recommended some tests we could do, but we simply couldn't afford it at the time as the pandemic hit us financially (as it has so many others) and he again attempted to make us feel bad for it. Our sweet boy still needs to be carried up the stairs because he has so much difficulty. Small note- we requested a nail trim for both our dogs but it was not done. We weren't charged so it was no big deal. People forget; mistakes happen. When we first went to Thrive (a different location), we had such a great experience. The staff was very friendly both to us and our dogs. We were happy to find out there was a Thrive location (Oltorf) closer to our house, but due to our experience here we are hesitant to return to this particular location. If we do, we will definitely request Dr. Joaquin Sosa not work with our dogs... And if you go here, you probably should too. Very unprofessional and disappointing. We will have to take our little guy back to another vet to get proper treatment. Thanks for reading.
