Amazing cat care. I went as an emergency visit for my older cat and Dr. Thomas was incredible. Honestly, one of the best vets I’ve ever spoken to. (Update: all of the vets at this practice are amazing!) They are thorough and really care about the kitties. Their covid protocol is on point as well.

Nice people work here. They were also able to see my kitty very soon.

Finally a place that understands the magic of cats and prioritizes their care as a result. Glad to have found them ????

Expensive, but they’re dang good. Just wish they’d allow owners in with their pets again. It’s an undue burden on the animals.

SACH has actually saved my cat’s life twice. She’s an old lady and very spicy and my old vet just assumed she had an infection when she was in early stage kidney disease. If you want your kitty’s needs properly assessed and the nicest staff and incredibly kind, helpful doctors, this is the right place.

South Austin Cat Hospital was recommended to me by a friend and my cat, Ari, had his first visit today and the service was exceptional from the moment I made the first phone call to make an appointment. SACH reception staff were able to fit me into the schedule on the next day after hearing what was going on with Ari. All the service that took place on the day of the appointment was awesome! If you have a cat, this is the place to have them seen. Communication was 10/10, the vet and all other staff worked to make everything easier for for Ari and I, providing recommendations and explanations for everything that was going on. I left the appointment feeling completely satisfied about the situation with Ari and I feel that if questions are to come up in, I am able to reach out for assistance. No unnecessary treatment, recommendations or testing were done; Ari was seen for the issue and it was the focus of the visit. All assessment and treatment were done without me, as SACH is operating with curbside drop off and pick up. Often times I am not even this satisfied with services when I am allowed to be in the room. Definitely making wellness and routine appointments here in the future!

If your cats are family, bring them here. Devoted staff love what they do, and they are so in tune with their clients needs. Dr. Breitreiter is a wonderful vet.

They do a good job in handling cats, but I felt like they were trying to charge me for every possible thing. My cat has chronic yeast infections in her ears and i wanted to refill her ear drop prescriptions and wouldn't unless I scheduled another examination appointment, even though my previous vet records provided her diagnosis and prescription. I also wanted to take her in to get a simple heart rate reading, as the cat cardiologist advised me to, and they wanted to charge me the rate for seeing the actual head vet instead of getting a simple read from the technician

The doctors here are very lovely, informative, and caring. Fantastic staff. Wouldn't take my kitties anywhere else.

I will never be taking my cat anywhere else! I had such an amazing experience with everyone I interacted with. My vet tech Ashely was thorough, kind, and educated - and I could tell she had my feisty cat's best interest at heart. Dr. Thomas was equally as kind, educated, and thorough, and really made me feel like we could have a full conversation about my cat and his needs without feeling rushed. I think that the prices are fair compared to a typical vet - however, they are a bit more pricey than the minute-clinic experiences at places like Thrive. You get what you pay for though, with a much more thorough examination, time, and people who understand cats and their unique needs. They are a "fear free" practice and let your cat dictate the appointment. If your cat isn't coming out of a stressful state, they'll find a way to make the appointment more bearable for them without putting them into a fearful situation. I anticipated my cat coming home and hating me after his appointment, but instead he gently crawled out of his carrier and immediately wanted to cuddle and purr. I can't say enough great things. If you're looking for a cat clinic run by cat people - this is the spot.

I don't trust anyone with my animals, let me just start out by saying that. My cats had a vet in my old neighborhood who took care of them but when I moved down south I needed a place to take my then youngest when she needed to be spayed. I did my research and found SACH. Since then I have brought Serena back, my 6 year old Harrison for a check up and even trusted them to put my 17 year old to sleep. They now are the vet for my new kitten Winter and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Robert and Dr.Thomas and their staff.

great experience, do your feline friends a favor and take them to a Cat Doctor!! Our 15 year old cat had an abscess and Dr. Thomas drained and cleaned it and it healed up nicely. They also did a thorough exam and took the time to write up a full care recommendation for our old girl. We will be back.

The absolute best cat-specific vet practice! We adopted a cat about 10 months before this review was written and have been nothing but happy with the service we've received at SACH. They truly love their patients as if they were their own. The staff is consistently extremely responsive via email. The vets will help you trouble shoot any ailments that come up and let you know if it's best to come in for an appointment or to continue guided care at home. I've emailed them so many times and always get helpful and patient responses from the vets and receptionists. Dr. Thomas is the vet we see regularly, and she is the best. I was prompted to write this review because she just called me personally to answer questions in detail about my cat's up-coming anesthetized dental procedure. I had emailed with questions, and she followed up over phone. I will be very sad to move away from Austin in the future because I fear I won't find such an amazing practice again >.< Thank you all at SACH!

Anything written here does not do any justice to explain how amazing the people are at South Austin Cat Hospital. They literally saved our cat's life. On behalf of me and my family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will always remember how well you treated us and our cat through that difficult time.

I was extremely pleased with this facility. I have been new to the area and my cat has been experiencing discomfort. The staff was beyond phenomial! COVID19 procedures had to be followed but the staff still maintained professionalism and related to everything I was going thru which put me at ease. They went the extra mile to get my boy in and he came home stress free which was the biggest bonus! They had everything in office I needed. I just can't say enough. THANK YOU!

Great first time experience at South Austin Cat Hospital. We are new to the area and are very happy to have found a cat only vet! Sushi was very well taken care of and looked super relaxed during her visit. Thank you!

Amazing staff! Took my cat there for her new adoption appointment and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Even though we conducted the exam over the phone I felt super confident in having them take care of her.

We were lucky that we literally “stumbled upon” the So Austin Cat Hosp. What a great group of professionals! The receptionists are friendly & accommodating; the staff was professional & knowledgeable. They took great care of our cat and sent Sheldon (my cat) a very thoughtful personalized follow up card that everyone personally signed. Very nice touch and a perfect reflection of the quality of care you receive there.

I have a very mixed review from our experience here... First off... the staff was very friendly & very ambitious toward caring for our cat, Rocket, who we’d just discovered had either a mass in his chest or congestive heart failure (it ended up being a mass). He was coughing violently & in an elevated state of respiratory distress. They were confident in tapping his chest to drain the fluid which had built up causing the distress. My wife was elated at the care & enthusiasm they showed, I was too in the immediate response & in tapping his chest to relieve the pressure. After that, I was less enthusiastic. My reasons behind being less enthusiastic is in that I felt like the next steps in his care were somewhat overzealous in requiring services from outside technicians using equipment they did not have... so I had to bring Rocket in & drop him off then come back & get him later after the visiting tech & equipment had come to perform the services. All of which resulted in being inconclusive & resulting in the need for us to be referred... so my complaint is that we probably should have been referred earlier (or immediately) instead of the multiple tests adding up to about $1,500 if I remember correctly. I will also admit this was a new situation for us, we were cautious & trying to figure out what to do. It’s easy to say in hindsight we would have saved time & money if “xyz” had been done. So, that’s my gripe... I feel like they knew the situation was above their head to care for (it was) but instead of referring us immediately they encouraged costly tests that were ultimately inconclusive & ended up being of no value to helping us decide what course of treatment to take... then referred us to the vet who could (and was capable to) care for him. The final reason I have mixed reviews is this... Rocket was a friendly cat & everyone loved him... but one time when I came to pick him up he was squirming to get away from the tech returning him to me, had a very angry look on his face & when she put him down he ran over to me immediately... this was not at all normal behavior for Rocket who loved people & when put down would immediately explore casually. So, not sure why Rocket did not like that vet tech, but it was clear he REALLY did not like her. I don’t remember which tech it was, just that she referred to Rocket as her boyfriend, maybe that’s what he didn’t like. ????????‍♂️ Anyway... I was not a big fan of that. In the last year he was handled by dozens of techs & Doctors & not one other time has he fought to get away from them then run straight to me, not once ever from anyone, even obnoxious little kids screaming & running to pet him. Ultimately, Rocket lost his battle w/ the cancerous mass. He fought for 9 more months. We’re thankful for the swift action to tap the fluid from his chest & the referral... we just wish the referral had come more quickly so he’d have been in more capable hands for his particular condition sooner, w/ less out of our pocket & avoiding that awkward encounter where he really did not like the tech.

Wow! From the ease of booking our first appointment here online through the exam to checkout process, I’m impressed. I love the convenience of emailed documents & receipts, and the online pharmacy option. During covid, it is great to be able to watch the exam and chat with the Doctor & vet tech on zoom, I love that they made this effort to include pet parents during visits. They were attentive, asked questions, and listened to my concerns. Based on our visit, it’s my impression the staff truly care about every animal they see & give the time/attention needed to solving health problems. I highly recommend giving them a try!!

This is the best vet I have ever used. The whole staff is so compassionate and kind. I don't have a preference on what doc we use because they're all lovely.

The care was very good. Covid requirements for owner to stay in the car, but they Zoomed the exam so I could see what happened and ask questions. The visits weren't cheap but the value was very good. They were very gentle and understanding of my kitties' needs and natural behaviors...even my desperately shy girl.

If you are a cat owner, this is the PLACE. The move to Texas was worth it just to have found this vet for our kitties. I always got the very best care I could afford back in California but it turns out they missed a ton of things this place found immediately. Things that back in Cali were misdiagnosed, left unresolved, treated with what turned out to be the wrong medicine, etc. this place in zeroed on immediately. I didn’t know this but the curriculum in most vet schools focuses on about 80% dogs and the other 20% is small animals, reptiles, farm animals, and cats. Crazy, right? So it’s not really the vets fault back in CA, it’s just that they weren’t specialists. These people are cat specialists like I never knew existed. They have the imaging, technology, most up to date research, all 100% feline focused. Plus everyone who works there is the sweetest and my cats are never afraid to go there like they were before with mixed-species vets. My cats have never been healthier or more cared for. It’s such a relief. Can not recommend enough.
