I have taken my 18 year old dog here doe the last 12 years and as now I will never go back or recommend anyone go here again. They used to be amazing but recently their staff has completely gone downhill. My dog recently got sick and every time I came in they made me feel like an annoyance over feeling like they wanted to help him. The front desk staff was repeatedly rude and so were the vets. I was not given the correct information and I know because I moved my dog to another vet (North Austin Animal Hospital) and the treatment was outstanding. They knew I was struggling for days to get pills into him and they never once recommended the took they used until I asked a vet tech and he was extremely helpful. They have never called for an update (the other vet has called every day). The vets never called me back after calling all day to get information as THEY told me to call them. I walked out crying many times because of the treatment and that is not something I should have ever had to go through. I wasted so much of my sick dogs time coming here. I had to go to an emergency room because they did not give me the advice the other vet gave me on my first appointment. I was also withheld the information that there is a lump in my dogs lungs that the other vet saw immediately from the x-rays taken at brykerwood and transferred over to them. Since going to another vet my dog is insanely better. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and especially do not see Dr. Moore.

Love love love this clinic! Finally found my new Austin vets. Dr. Moore is fantastic!! It's a big deal for me to have a compassionate and personable dogtor. I cannot say enough nice things about her. All of the staff are great as well! Highly recommend this clinic for your fur babies.

DO NOT GO HERE. I have never once reviewed anything poorly, even if my experience sucked. I’m laid back and forget about things. But it’s been years since my experience at Brykerwood and I still think about it from time to time and it fills me with rage for my dog and dread for anyone else who might bring theirs here. After my dog came back from getting his teeth cleaned, I noticed a line on his back thigh that I correctly assumed was from the catheter insertion. It was kind of large but looked fine and it wasn’t bothering my dog too much so I figured, whatever. Several days later—like 5—I notice that this ‘line’ has now become an enormous gaping wound. The flesh was jutting out. I brought my dog back to the vet. Turns out, a tech had CUT my dogs skin and muscle while getting the catheter out after surgery, then GLUED IT BACK TOGETHER WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE. So my dog had just been suffering for days while the strong glue on this big gaping wound was coming undone. I would’ve honestly been fine if they’d been upfront with me from the get-go, but they let my dog suffer for days and that is egregious. Save your money and heartache, go elsewhere.

Unfortunately after taking my dog to Brykerwood for 10 years I had to leave them last month. They have had several staff changes that resulted in some rude interactions, but the final straw was when I left a message for a vet about my dogs medication and didn't hear from them for almost a week. When I called them back they casually said they never left the message for the vet and I needed to tell them again so they could leave the message. The vet still didn't call back. I even spoke to the clinic manager and still no call back. After 2 more weeks I changed vets to a practice that communicates effectively and actually follows up. I can no longer recommend Brykerwood.

I cannot fully express my gratitude to the Brykerwood doctors and staff. My cat Regulus quickly declined and was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma. The staff was very sweet in informing me of my options concerning his illness. He was to undergo a diagnostic surgery to assess his intestinal tumor. When they went in they found that all of his lymph nodes had cancer. The surgeon called me and informed me of my further options. I made the call to put him down instead of a life of a feeding tube and chemotherapy. I was distraught and the surgeon allowed me to come in to the operating room and see him one last time and say goodbye. I was also allowed to be present while he passed. This is something that does not normally happen. I feel so lucky to have had that chance. I know this was very rare and in most cases they will not allow owners into the operating room. I cannot sing their praises enough. I read some of the other comments on here and people are upset about attitudes, openings, and wait times. Please remember, these vets and staff are working their hardest in a covid environment. They are dealing with owners who (rightly so) view their pets as family. It's taxing on them. Remember to be compassionate. Putting down an animal or informing folks that their fur babies are sick is a tough job. God bless them for the work they do.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable but their communication and organization is so poor. I’ve called several times over the past two weeks to pick up a written prescription for chewy. The vet techs have no record of what prescriptions are needed for my pets and have no sense of urgency to communicate it to the vet.

This vet recommended letting my dog suffer and die over helping it because there overbooked!

Great Docs. Facilities need an update. Difficult to get prescriptions for meds purchased elsewhere.

I rarely leave reviews, and I have no recollection of ever leaving a bad one. If I could leave Brykerwoods’s vet clinic a zero, I would. Brykerwoods has been the vet for my little baby Brodie for over 10 years. I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars with them. I tolerated their overpriced services for a long time because they had consistently goods vets and good service and were responsive to urgent needs. It has been declining in the past couple of years and this morning was the straw that broke the camels back. Brodie woke up and had trouble. Standing. I called Brykerwoods vet and was put on a 20 minute hold, a new record for them. I told them I was terrified and that I needed to bring him immediately because I was leaving on a trip that afternoon that I couldn’t cancel and I had to know if he was dying. They offered me a late afternoon appointments and I told them it was urgent, and needed to be squeezed in. I was told to call urgent care. I said I was petrified and worried that my best friend was dying and the girl INTERRUPTED ME while i was sharing my concern and told me to go to urgent care. I asked to speak to her supervisor I was told the same thing. Not an ounce of compassion or customer loyalty. They are no longer privately owned and it shows. They seem to be utterly tone deaf the people they serve and their attachment to their animals. Stay away, they are the veterinary equivalent of a puppy mill.

I arrived ten minutes early to the vet appointment and my pet wasn't retrieved until 20 minutes past when the appointment was supposed to start. Then I had to sit in the car while the vet called me. I just got bad vibes from her. Came across as rather uppity when she said stuff like "I don't feed my pet stuff food from the grocery store", "people in Puerto Rico get so many diseases from their dogs" and "we know you're on a budget" when I just asked about the pricing!! Will not be going back and don't recommend....

Our dog was struggling with "mange" for about six months. Our first vet not only told us it was mange, but said to keep up with the medication because it would take six months to work. They also refused to give us an anti-itch medication, because he was "too young." THIS PLACE IS LOVELY!! Our new vet had completely eliminated mange as a possibility AND bacterial infections. Gave him a medication that will help with his itchiness. Now we have him on a specified diet to help eliminate a food allergy. Love these people, they explain things so well and really care about your pets, I can't wait to go back for our next checkup!

We have taken our family pets to Brykerwood Vet Clinic for over 30 years. The veterinarians and the staff are always helpful and professional. It is a busy clinic but this reflects its strong reputation in the area.

Been going here for over 10 years. Bit pricey but like that it's not a big box retailer, is local and the staff is always very helpful and seem to remember us and our fur baby.

Have helped my animals pass but then a vet takes a dog from you runs blood tests and xrays without permission or telling the pet owner. I really want to know what is happening to my dog and not picked up like a butterball turkey and a $350-400 bill

Driving to the office to pickup a trifexis dose for my pup during a pandemic shouldn't equate to an employee yelling at me over the telephone. I have had good experiences with the veterinarians. Fire your front end staff. There's plenty of veterinaries in Austin. You're officially fired. Learn to train your staff to show some level of empathy especially now. Worst experience ever so far.

This place charges OUTRAGEOUS amount for an international health certificate - at $350 per dog this is double the price of other Veterinario’s in Austin.... when I asked about what am I paying for (the exam took about 5 minutes) I was answered in very disrespectful way ... made feel wrong for even asking. I will not be coming back Too high price and rude service

Wonderful service for both owner and pet! I have never had a negative experience with them and they have treated both of my dogs absolutely wonderfully. I recommend Brykerwood Vet to all my friends.
