Busy practice. The 2 Doc Woods are wonderful and very caring vets. The ladies in the practice were very terrific. Especially because I was worked in.

Rude receptionist, short and can’t wait to get you off the phone.

I came in to euthanize my 15yr old lab. They were the kindest people. They were so gentle with him and so comforting I'm his last moments. I will never forget that.

They always take wonderful care of my dachshund Charlie. Much more affordable than many other veterinary hospitals. We love Dr Wood!

I'm taking my dogs here on and off for several years. I moved away and used a different vet, and I moved back over to this area and went back recently. The good: the staff are extremely nice, and they don't try and make you do unnecessary tests or treatments. Very practical, cost-effective, and caring. My prior vet would try to get us to do everything, indicating it was totally necessary such as rattlesnake vaccine. Exam tests and shots usually would run me about $350. It was about half of that here. The veterinarian and his staff were very caring and ask lots of questions. The service was just as good if not better than the prior vet at a lower cost. The bad colon this is the only reason they don't get five stars, is they work on a paper and pencil system. No text reminders of your upcoming appointment. No reminder calls. You better book four weeks in advance if you want to come on a weekend. I still say it's a great trade-off, but if they could get with the times it would be five stars.

This is the most affordable and loving animal hospital! They got my baby in right away and didn't try and freak me out or tell me he needed a million tests. I was in and out quick! Wonderful wonderful place!!!

We have been going to Balconies Animal Hospital for about 25 years and have always been very impressed with both of Dr.James Woods father and son Jason Woods. They always take the time to answer all my questions and you can tell they genuinely care about all our pets and provide amazing care for them. The Cummings

I've been taking my pets here for years. Both Doctors Woods are wonderful, down to earth, honest, caring, and VERY knowledgeable. My German shepherd had a back injury with extreme pain and was not able to even sit, let alone stand or walk. Dr Woods and his team were the only vets that didn't jump to a diagnosis of: "immediate surgery is needed". With their treatment plan, my GS fully recovered after 8-10 wks , WITHOUT surgery, and was able to walk and run 100% normally. Thank you!

I can't say enough positives about Balcones Animal Hospital! The entire staff works in concert to give caring and informed medical care to our pets. Over the years, and several loved fur babies, the security of trusting their health to this team has been an immeasurable comfort.

We’ve been bringing our dogs here for a few years and like the docs but My wife an I always feel rushed off the phone with the front desk staff as if we’re not valued clients and just bothering them I guess, when I’m obviously calling for an important reason for our dogs. Sometimes the people answering the phones won’t be of much help with questions and just are short with us, comes off as rude and end up getting no help for our dogs. Overall the front desk staff and people answering the phones need to be more empathetic and customer service oriented with clients in my opinion, especially if it’s an urgent health issue (& I work in health care, so I understand the stress)…instead of just saying “so yea we’re booked 4-5 weeks out sorry”. Every time we call now it’s over a month out to get an appointment, that’s a bit overboard and not good. May have to start looking for a new vet clinic, sad to leave here.

Dr. Wood Sr. Helped me when my fur babies ate potpourri, which I learned is poisonous. Doc showed me how to give them shots and their IV fluids. When Sara started going downhill fast, Doc was kind and gave me ideas. She pulled through and I am grateful for the kindness and professionalism of the entire team. Shout out to Gilbert for his caring.

I love this place, took my old dog there for 15 years (they gave him his first shots and took him when passed) and my current old dog for 13. Today I reached out to schedule the typical year vaccines and toe trimming with the great reminder in the mail. Receptionist said 6 week back log before I can get them in. This is no vacation I'm trying to schedule, I have always respected the 2 week period but 6 is a little too much. I guess I have to start going somewhere else, sad I have been referring for so many years. I will miss the docs.

I like this place because it is very close to my house. We have taken our dog twice. The caretakers are very kind. There is someone at the reception who has not been kind to me the two times I have been. She has a bad attitude, she is not friendly and I do not feel welcome when she attends to me.( Tonya)

Great Reviews but whoever is answering their phones is RUDE....And let's you know right away BOOKED until the middle of JULY 2021! So, I would recommend keep looking somewhere else if you need your dogs ears cropped.

I have been coming to Balcones for about 30 years now. They have helped me when my pets first began there lives with me until they said goodbye. Sr. and Jr. are fantastic and very knowledgeable. The whole staff is amazingly kind, courteous, and friendly. To the pet owners as well. Only draw back is that they have been so good for a long time, it's hard to get in to see them as quickly as before. I will still come back.

We see “Doc Sr” & he is the BEST!!!! Both Dr. Wood Sr & Dr. Wood Jr work here & are super. However, we’ve been patient’s for approx 8 years & primarily work with Doc Sr. He is a down to earth, give it to you straight kinda guy. He doesn’t push for unnecessary tests or procedures or expensive treatments/medications. If needed, he will usually treat whatever ailment right on the spot. For example, he did a suspicious mole removal during our last appointment instead of having to reschedule at a later date. He’s very personable, nonjudgemental, & offers sound medical advice. One of many vet assistants, Gilbert, has been super helpful over the years helping us to move through appointments fast. We have been very happy with Balcones Vet services. A word of advice, unlike a lot of other vet practices, they are usually booked several weeks out. If you have an emergency or they have a cancellation things usually work out. Otherwise plan on a couple months wait.

Extremely well priced and great with animals. My dog needed 2 teeth pulled and the blood work and medication was half the price of our normal vet. We switched vets to go with Balcones full-time.

The staff, from front desk to doctors, are friendly, professional, very helpful & caring. It's modern medicine with the family touch. Prices are reasonable but the care given is extraordinary.

My dog needed a cast and they put one on his broken leg. The owner is a great man we take all of are poodles there for everything they need done, like heart worm pills, shot's, and to be declawed, and they were always there to help me with dogs with whatever I needed for them. Great place.

Don’t even bother. I’ve made spay/neuter appointments for a rescue with this place on two different occasions. Both time I show up and they claim to have no record of the appointment. The last time I even called 2 days prior to confirm. Woman at check in basically called me a liar. Insisting I made the appointment with another vet, even though I had outgoing calls to them on my phone. Also said she was there in the day I called to confirm and didn’t take any calls, as if I must be lying because she didn’t talk to me. Taking appointments in a spiral note pad. No wonder they can’t keep track of anything. So unprofessional
