Austin Vet Care at Metric Austin, Texas

I really love the vets and staff at this location, but I’ve been bothered that they keep money for labs when labs were never fulfilled. They sort of explained it to me but once I hung up I realized the explanation didn’t make much sense. We paid over $200 for labs, they never received any samples to send in, but apparently they still had to pay the lab the $200, even though there were no samples for them to review, yet they couldn’t get it back? Disappointed :/

I can't say enough about these guys. My dog is a rescue with some big anxiety and trust issues and, honestly, I get very anxious on his behalf at the vet. The folks at Austin Vet Care are so patient and kind with both of us. They always leave room for questions and are incredibly responsive. They are transparent about their price breakdown and make sure you know exactly what you're getting into. Love, love, love this place!

They are very busy due to their popularity, but they also work so hard to make sure your pet is taken care of. Once, they were able to help with a quick phone consult and a treatment suggestion that had my little guy feeling great in no time. Last week, my dog was miserable with what turned out to be symptoms from allergies and they squeezed him in for an appointment that day and got him taken care of quickly. The staff and the vets are always kind and they take time to talk about all the options, answer your questions, etc. There are cheaper vet care options but Austin Vet Care is a good value for the high level of service.

These people have always taken AMAZING care of our fur-babies, especially Dr. Tracy Karlinger-Smith! We've been clients since 1998.

This place is always so on it from pre to post appointment. They always ask the right questions and provide the best care. All my concerns are always addressed at every point. They also stay up to date on their treatments and research. They shared research on dog foods with me which prompted me to change my pups food. They're great!! Impecable service.

Just started taking my dog here and the technicians are honestly excellent. My dog had a few accidents while we were there because he was nervous and they responded immediately, got it cleaned up, and made us comfortable.

Austin Vet Care at Metric is an amazing vet. After moving to Austin, I look around for a bit to find just the right staff to take my 7 year dog to and then I found them. At the time, they were only doing curbside appointments so I felt initially worried not going in with my baby during her appointment, but it went so well! Everyone in the office loves her and treats her so well. We just recently had her first in-office visit and not only was everyone as incredible as on the phone, but I could see that my dog Lexie loved to see everyone and how much they loved to see her. We looove Dr. Brandes and have been going here since 2015. Both our pups are difficult to handle (ones afraid of dogs and barks at them, the other is just skittish and zany) and the doctor is amazing with both. The tram follows up and is super caring. We love the care they show and would highly recommend them to anyone who loves their pet!

My friend recommended Dr. Brandes at Austin Vet Care at Metric. Our pup has visited him since we first got her, and she gets excited to go to the vet. During the pandemic, they’re getting pets from the parking lot. So, it’s especially nice right now to have my dog excited to go, rather than timid or afraid of the vet techs.

This place is truly something special. It was my last day as an employee-only leaving because I'm moving out of state. And I can say for sure it's gonna be the best place that you'll find the most hard working employees that truly care for your fur babies as if they're their fur babies. Not only the doctors, but the entire staff are so incredible and compassionate. I will miss this place very much

Great care for our two boys!

I called here a few times, but they seem to lack any professional skills. Always placed me on hold, had me waiting and the fact I called inquiring about my puppy. They seemed to care less. The guy who answered was rude and ignorant. Then a lady came to the phone answered a few questions only to get disconnected. All I know I am glad I did not go here as their prices were high plus the bad customer service! Only imagine how they would treat my senior dog and cat if I had scheduled. No thanks!

I've only been a handful of times (moved to Austin in 2020) but each time I've taken my two cats has been a very positive experience. They have excellent communication, they seem like they're very gentle with my babies (neither one has come back too traumatized lol), and they explain everything carefully. I've worked with both Dr. Brandis and Dr. Tracey and both are wonderful. It feels like the team at Austin Vet Care at Metric really does want to make sure your furry friend stays happy and healthy. They are more than willing to work with you schedule-wise (which I really appreciate as a working young adult without anyone who can take my cats in for me), plus their rates are affordable. All in all, I cannot recommend Austin Vet Care at Metric enough. I don't intend on going anywhere else for veterinary care as long as I live in Austin.

This is the best vet practice I've ever been to. As an owner of Labrador Retrievers for the last 22 years, I've been searching for a vet like this. I haven't been inside the office yet due to Covid but even with curbside service I can feel their warmth and caring. They are thorough, thoughtful and have even coordinated care with the specialists we use. They pay attention to costs which can quickly increase and make alternate suggestions if I decide to use them. The follow up and proactive approach to the dealings we have outside of appointment time are efficient and thorough. Again, best I've ever experienced. You have to understand my dogs suffer from allergies, I have one with high blood pressure and she has also lost sight in one eye for an unknown reason. My other has Roarers Syndrome so as typical with all my other labs, I spend a fair time at the doc. I even drive 45 minutes from my home in Liberty Hill because I like them so much. I can't wait for the office to open (for obvious reasons) but also so I can shake the hands of these special care givers. It's even easy to get an appt, I don't have to wait weeks like some other places. I obviously can't say enough about this place.

Austin Vet Care is a trustworthy and well-organized facility. We took our new 10month old puppy Whitney to them on Saturday, and he had a great experience! The pricing is reasonable for basic care, though the nail trim is expensive at $20. Dr. Tracy took care of him and spent 20 minutes on the phone with us talking through what we should and shouldn’t do to take care of Whitney. She was so helpful to us new puppy parents!

Dr. Brandes and his team are the best. Dr Brandes always answers my questions in a way that is easy to understand and you can tell his office really cares about animals. I have complete confidence in his treatment of my furbabies.

The front desk staff and vet techs at Austin Vet Care at Metric are kind and make you feel at ease. I have nothing but good things to say about them. However the veterinary service is awful. I have a doberman that needed to be spayed. The surgery was done and everything seemed normal until about 45 minutes after giving her the prescribed pain medication. She began to bleed heavily while in her kennel. After rushing her to an emergency vet I found out that she has a genetic clotting disorder that is highly prevalent in dobermans. All of the stitches were intact but there was blood pooling between the abdomen and the skin. The emergency vet informed me that the normal procedure for surgery on dogs with this disorder is to test for clotting ability, if that fails (which my dog did at the emergency vet), do a genetic test to confirm the cause, and then give appropriate medication to enhance clotting during the procedure. Additionally the pain medication prescribed by the Austin vet care at Metric staff increased the likelihood of bleeding. When Austin Vet Care at Metric called to check on my dog post surgery I told them the situation and while I was able to talk to a very concerned vet tech the vet that did the surgery never followed up. This shows a complete lack of actual concern for the well being of the animals.

I brought my dog here 9 years ago when he first joined our family, and then again today for the first time since that initial visit. They took great care of Gurgi! He gets stressed by strangers easily, and they had patience and took care of him even though he was freaking out. I felt very confident in Dr. Tracy and her team.
