I’m sorry to the vet that I didn’t know had stayed local just left his situation, but 23 years and 9 animals later In forever grateful to have found Dr. Gail Hoyme. Just recently she and her crew were able to get my 108lb boy to lay, tongue lolling and tail wagging happily while they clipped his claws. A feat that takes drugs and drama to accomplish at home. I also greatly appreciate her making sure our animals receive the best care even if that’s finding a different specialist. Could not recommend her place more!

We took our 10 week old puppy in for her first visit, and I felt like the staff really cared about us and our puppy. Prices were very reasonable, and the vet discussed everything I had questions about with an open mind and ready answers. I plan to move my 12 1/2 yr old Weimaraner over to this vet for all of his future visits. Definitely better than Appalachian New River vet.

Owner deletes and slanders negative reviews and that’s what fooled me into coming. Had to move my review to Yelp so if you want to hear the worst vet story ever, check there, owner lies. Deletes critical reviews on Facebook also. Nasty owner, thought my mom was me in a review and told her even her name was fake, my original review was deleted so my mother had to call attention to their practices. I don’t like to publish my info online so yeah... Dutch is not my real name, just a nickname. Would not be shocked if owner Doxxed me or came to my address.

Was visiting from our if town and realized I had forgotten my dogs meds. They went above and beyond with good service. I was in and out in minutes and really appreciated thier quick work. Five stars aren't enough in a day and age where good service is harder and harder to come by.

Dr. Hoyme has been taking excellent care of our fur babies for more than 20 years. She's always spot on with diagnoses and offers you all of the options so you can choose the best care for your pet. She truly cares for her patients, which is something that I have found lacking with larger veterinarian offices.

The staff was very nice Gayle the vet paid very special attention to my dog which I have visited other vets in the area and they seemed to only care about your money not Gayle she's for your pet. Prices are very reasonable love this place

The most Compassionate and Knowledgeable Care in the High Country!

Took my dog in to have an eye exam. A small piece of leaf was removed and I was sent home with three medications for $190.00. I returned 4 days later for a follow up exam per their instructions. I waited 30 minutes in my car past the appointment time. They took my dog in for literally a 5 minute visit and then charged me $30 more dollars for the visit. I have NEVER been charged for a follow up visit. I spent $220.00 to have a piece of leaf removed! I emailed them through their on line site and got no response. I was told to return in two weeks to see about starting my dog in a steroid. I won’t be back.

The staff at this office are THE BEST. They cared for my dog, and helped me find my new fur baby best friend. They have been there for us in ways that many wouldn’t imagine from other vets, and I am so thankful I found Gail!

Dr Hoyme and her staff have been our family vet for 10+ years. They are always on point and knowledgeable with any diagnosis or info we need in regards to our animal's needs. You couldn't ask for a better knowledge and loving staff.

There are special people in this world who were born to be veterinarians, and Dr Hoyme is certainly one of them. Her expertise, knowledge, and education make her one of the finest animal doctors in our area, and we are fortunate to have her.

Gail has always taken such good care of our pets. We live in Charlotte, yet make the trip to see her in Banner Elk. Great staff, concerned about your pets comfort, and prices are very competitive. Our two Great Pyrenees don't even act worried about our visits!

The only veterinarian in town I trust with my ridiculous best friend, who loves to eat non-edible items. Gail has answered many of my panicked, teary phone calls and always had the right answer. She listens, takes time with all her clients, and even examines my giant baby on the couch because he’s afraid of heights. Love this lady.

Gail has been our vet for 19 years, and is by far the best I’ve ever been to. She’s kind, compassionate, and cares deeply about her clients- both fur and human! Six of our cats (so far) have gone to her over the years, and she’s been with us from routine checkups to terminal illness. Her advice is always geared towards the best outcome for the pet, and I trust her completely. Her staff is wonderful, and her prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for an honest, caring, and trustworthy vet!
