I love our vet. I feel like this practice is there for you when you need them. They really care. The vet techs are great. Very professional. My experience with the surgical services they offer was great as well. I trust my vet. This practice means a lot to me! My dogs love it too!

Love this office! Dr. Ballas is amazing and patient with both of my boys, and she cares deeply for their overall health. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet. Leroy and Ralphie thank you for taking such great care of them!

I was initially really happy, and then the vet I had been seeing left after a year or so (Dr. Lackey). I was assigned a new vet (Dr. Purvis). I was happy, and then they left, again, under/at a year. I have seen 5-6 vets in as many years. The vets now seem really inexperienced, and basked on my own experience I would not suggest depending on AVA-West for advice about anything out of the ordinary/serious (Radioactive Iodine, serious skin infection, or even basic teeth care). I felt that I received bad advice for 2 pets.

Ive never had such a great vet experience in my life. Places like this make it so much easier to contribute to the health of our animals because they make the experience so smooth. I’m very appreciative of everyone here and will not go anywhere else!

This review is long over due. I am a local dog trainer and have been working with Asheville Vet Associates for a couple years now. Not only do I send my own dogs to them, I have sent many clients their way. They are patient, knowledgeable, and caring. They always squeeze me in if need be and are very helpful. It’s so nice to be able to work with a vet you can trust. Here’s a big thank you from me and my 3 hooligans for all you do!

Super nice people! They really care about your animals.

These folks are the BEST! I adopted a kitten during COVID and was worried about getting all his vaccines/check-ups/etc. done during lockdown. But they had safe protocols in place and made it easy and convenient to schedule. More importantly, they treated my kitten with such care and compassion that he did great even without me in the room with him, for multiple follow-up appointments. They were the first strangers my little guy had interacted with and they made him feel totally comfortable. Can't speak highly enough of them -- and I know they're working really, really hard to deliver positive experiences during this very tough year. Prices were totally reasonable and they didn't try to upsell me on any nonsense stuff. Thanks y'all for all you do, I'll be scheduling an appointment for my older cat soon :).

I've taken my cat to many cats over the years, and I really like how they explained everything they wanted to do before doing it and how they really seemed to care about my cat. Wonderful place, I've found my vet.

The people who work here are fantastic. Kind, attentive, and helpful in general. This will always be my veterinarian of choice. Edit; To add to the review, the first time I went here I watched from afar as the nurses did some tests on my cat. They didn’t know I was watching in the next room or that I could hear them. The way they treated him with such care and kindness was really something else. These people truly care about what they do.

I took my precious boy Mason there on Monday 12/28/2020 at 4pm. A heart worm test and xrays later I was told test was negative and no fluid anywhere in his body to make her think he had congestive heart failure. The Vet told me she was not concerned about him but here is an antibiotic and a “preventive” heart medication called Vetmedin to give him. Her diagnosis was not correct as she sent us away with a sense of “security” that my baby was okay! I brought him home and he acted just fine. I gave him the medicine at 7:30pm. Sometime between 10pm and 2:30am he passed away. The only thing different was the pills. I feel in my heart that is what killed him. So a vet bill of $369.47 and my baby lived maybe lived 6-7 hours after leaving the office. I was told the “heart pills” were expensive and little did I know they would cost me my world. Was this medication pushed on us when it was not a necessity but a “preventive” in her opinion? I talked to the vet Tuesday morning to ask what kind of medication did she give him! I am not saying she gave him something knowing it would kill him BUT what could they have done differently to PREVENT this outcome. Should they have told me what side effects to look for and to start the medicine not when I got home and he would lay down to sleep but in the morning when I could watch him for any possible side effects so maybe I would have had a chance to rush him the the Dr? I google the medication tonight and guess what the first listed side effect is? Allergic reaction (labored breathing etc) and the verbiage reads to use with extreme caution. I have debated for two days about writing this review and if I can save just one animal and one family from this grief then my speaking up will have been worth it.

Some of the staff wasn’t nice, and some old lady brought her dog in that was to strong for her starting fights. Didn’t feel my pet was safe there. Customers shouldn’t be a punchline for jokes of the staff, atleast not in ear shot
