Dr. Mims is great. She listens and her staff is thorough. I feel confident when I discuss my dogs issues that she is really hearing and understanding what I'm saying. I highly recommend.

The service was really great and the staff and doctors were awesome. They did all they could to make us feel comfortable. The way they treated us and our fur baby Chocolate. They did all they could for her and because of the money we had to put her down. The staff was very patient with us and allowed us all the time we needed to make the right decision. We really appreciated all of their staff. This is her last smile to us before taking that walk across the rainbow to Heaven. Thanks for allowing us to be there with her. Our Fur Baby Chocolate.

It was a great experience The fact that you didn't give me a hard time about not regularly taking my dog to the vet was so nice and wouldn't have helped saying it out loud. Y'all were so gentle and kind to my dog. You actually cared even though it was just another dog and another day of work.

This is NOT a 24/7 emergency vet. They close for services often. Call before you bring your pet with a medical emergency.

When our Jack Russell of 15 years got really sick & had to be put down. We took him there. They were very compassionate & professional. They took their time with us. Knowing it was very difficult to do. I would highly recommend them!!

We had a medical emergency with our 13-week old German Shepherd puppy and the care that our puppy/we received at Blue Pearl was beyond excellent! We couldn't be more grateful. The vet technicians and Dr. Schow were all wonderful and our puppy received quick treatment. 24 hours later, he is happy and healthy. Thank you!! - puppy Hank Maverick & family

Very nice experience for what was such a stressful situation. Dr. Mark McKenzie was nice, to the point and informative. The front staff was very nice and the tech that brought my cat out to me was nice as well. The prices are very reasonable for emergency care. Would definitely recommend and return if needed.

They were so gracious, kind, and helpful when we rushed through their doors in hopes of saving our baby girl who, sadly didn't make it. I would most definitely recommend them!

The vets in the Myrtle Beach area dropped the ball with my Charlotte repeatedly. Thankfully, an emergency vet in MB referred us to Blue Pearl. Your staff is so friendly, professional and caring. You started our appointment on time and didn't rush anything all day. In MB, for any vet appointment, I'm left sitting in a parking lot for at least 30 minutes up to 60 minutes or more before I'm even seen. You patiently explained everything thoroughly and answered our questions with care. As worried as I am about my Charlotte, I know she's finally in capable, knowledgeable hands. You actually care about her. You have no idea how that relieves me. I appreciate how caring and gentle you are with my Charlotte. You actually care about my girl. She is my world.

The staff/team here are so welcoming and made my dog feel comfortable and loved. They are also very informative and patient when going over treatment options. The attitude of the staff, their flexibility, and their informative explanations helped improve our first appointment experience. We would definitely go back for further care if need be in the future.

On Christmas Day, I had to rush my cat, Ellie, to the Summerville location with emergent needs. I called ahead to alert them I was on the way and upon arrival, was warmly greeted by Amber, who immediately paged a tech to the lobby. Nathan seemingly appeared before she hung up the phone and was so patient, profession and soft-spoken with me, as I reluctantly agreed to allow him to take Ellie from my arms and into the treatment area, without me. Amber them escorted me to a private room to complete paperwork while Ellie was being examined. Nathan entered not long after to obtain further information and was professional, kind and instilled a sense of trust, telling me they had already given her something for comfort, which was my main concern at that point, so I was very relieved. Dr. Andrews, her treating veterinarian, then came in and very thoroughly explained all of her findings in such a calm and compassionate way. Though I am familar with medical terminology, she didn't know that, and made sure to explain things in a manner anyone could understand. Though the prognosis she shared wasn't hopeful, she delivered it with such compassion and kindness, then made arrangements for me to see Ellie in the treatment area so she wouldn't have to remove her from oxygen treatment. Upon seeing Ellie's distress, I requested, and Ellie received, sedation immediately and I was able to take her to a private room, while we said good-bye, with no outside distractions. When we were ready, Dr. Andrews again showed much compassion and empathy as she performed that difficult task. It went as well as anyone could have hoped. Again in the lobby, as I was waiting for Ellie to be delivered to me, Amber also showed that same compassion, as she led me to a more private area and comforted me. While I was waiting, I noticed Dr. Andrews entering the "Comfort Room" with medication and knew the people and animal inside were being treated as well as Ellie and I were, but my heart went out to her for having to repeat that same scenario so soon. Please acknowledge these wonderful people and know they made a very frightening and heartbreaking situation, as easy as it could be. I thank them for all they did. The kindness and compassion shown by the staff was extraordinary.

Staff was great. We unfortunately had to see emergency, internal medicine and surgical. No definite answers on what is going on with my dog but they have taken great care of him and have called and kept me updated throughout the day. The care and compassion of the staff. They listened to my concerns where I felt my vet was dismissing them

We "visited" all 3 departments (Emergency, Internal Medicine & Surgery). It was confusing, as we were referred by our vet to your facility for Surgery. We did not know Mack would start out in the Emergency Dept., and be processed thru Internal Medicine before arriving in the Surgical Dept. Had we known ahead of time that he would have to be admitted to the Emergency Dept. & Internal Medicine, we would have done things differently. If surgery wasn't possible on the day we were referred, we would have made the trip early the next day. We live over 2 hours away. I also don't feel the situation warranted Mack going thru the Internal Medicine Dept. He had been seen on the day of the referral by our Vet & had an ultrasound performed by a diagnostic medical sonographer, which was provided to your office. That's how we knew his liver values were being affected by his gallbladder. Repeating the ultrasound the next day was unnecessary. As with most surgeries the surgeon won't know exactly the situation until the patient is in the operating room. The Doctor of Internal Medicine was very nice, but again, a consult with him was unnecessary. We already knew Mack's only option was a cholecystectomy. There were no alternative options to be offered /explained to us. Everyone we interacted with was very professional and friendly. We love Mack dearly; he is our Senior Baby Boy. We are extremely grateful for the care he received and that he will be celebrating Christmas with us this year and hopefully many more years. We are most thankful that Mack's surgery was a success and he has returned to his "ole" self.

Great staffing. My entire experience was amazing. While I was there, I was given updates frequently, was seen immediately, and was well informed on my cats condition and what was going on. Would highly recommend this place.

Yesterday I took my little Toby (Maltese) to this place looking for help. Unfortunately the doors were closed. I could see the light and staff inside but at the doors I saw the sign saying that emergency services are temporarily suspended. I had to drive all way down to Mt Pleasant. What's the point to have emergency service closed? No note on the internet. No other info. No assistance at the door. They were just looking behind the reception desk talking with each other.

I felt Doctor Jameson spent quality time with us and tried to get to know Ping and his issues. We were also thrilled our appointment started in time.

Soooo.. our silly pug Asia got into a Christmas goodie box that our awesome neighbor made for us, which warranted an unexpected visit to the Veterinary Specialty Care center this evening. Thankfully she was able to regurgitate the sweet treats before any damage was done. I feel confident bringing her home to keep an eye on her tonight. I've been here a few times over the past few years and I always feel like a very good friend is taking care of my furry family member when we come in. Thank you so very much for taking such great care of Asia!! Have an abundantly blessed Christmas!!!

I will start by strongly advising anyone to steer well clear of this veterinary hospital in Summerville. We took our cat, Shadow, in because our regular vet was just too backed up to see him. He had been vomiting and acting disoriented, and being diabetic, we thought it was something with his blood sugars. After briefing the vet tech about his symptoms, he was taken back and had his blood tested. We were then told we had to pay roughly $470.00 for him being seen by the vet and the test. We paid the money and then saw the vet. He informed us that he had some kidney failure and needed to have fluids. We were under the impression that at that time they were administering the fluids. The vet told us it would be about a 30 minute wait to get other results back from tests. After almost 2 hours I went to the same girl at the desk and asked what was taking so long. She went to the back, immediatly came back and told us to go back to the room where Shadow was first seen. Vet came in and said we needed to leave him overnight so he could get the fluids he needed. I went back up front and asked for a copy of the bill we had already paid for tests run and rudley kept being told it was not a bill but only an estimate. I told her we had paid for services rendered and not an estimate. Another girl overheard us and printed up the invoice for what we had paid for. No fluids were given in that 2 hour time, and obviosly nothing else was done, we were just kept waiting. We had no choice but to leave Shadow overnight to get the needed fluids into him. Before we could leave him and depart we were given another bill for $385.00. We picked him up the following morning at 8:30 and before he was brought out to us they said we owed them another $85.00 and we should take him to our regular vet as soon as possible. We were never given a follow-up meeting with the vet, only the same non caring girl at the front desk. They charged us $785.00 and really did not make him well. Appears to us that all these people care about is money, and not curing our pet. Totally worthless.

The staff I was interacting with was superb. They were welcoming and explained all about the situation and the steps to make it happen. I came back 12/11/21 @8:30 am, throughly grateful for all they did for my doggo~Lucy~ Customer service is what impressed me most overall. The ladies were remarkable and if your fur baby is not feeling well, this is the place for you paw’s up..

We were treated very well during our visit. The doctors and staff addressed all my concerns and made sure our puppy received the care she needed. If the need arises, we will definitely return to VSC again in the future!

My dog has been a patient of Dr. Mims for years. It has always been great service, especially when under original ownership...but I have seen a drastic change this past year. I will say I love Dr. Mims and Dr. Harris, and I have not seen this among any of the doctors...but many receptionists (never Kelly; she is always pleasant) and technicians act annoyed when I call and there is a lack of quality responsiveness anymore. I am really not happy with the level of stress I am under this week trying to get questions answered. My dog is a very complicated case. I am calling and not being connected to Dr. Mims though I have specific questions related to my dog, that the techs do not seem to know how to answer. Today I was connected to a technician, Lauren. She wasn't answering my questions on the phone, and instead kept restating with a rude and condescending tone, the same general statement that is not helping to resolve my question. I am trying to determine if the antibiotics in a specific vaccine would be harmful to my dog given her condition. Lauren said in a rude and almost mocking manner: "Are you asking if there are antibiotics in vaccines?" When I told her I did not appreciate her tone, she stated: "I am going to put you on hold to calm down." I do not know who Lauren thinks she is, but I am a grown adult who has been a client of this hospital, both departments, for years, so I do not need a "time out." I asked to talk to a liason or someone on site who can help me...Lauren came back and stated a supervisor will be calling to talk to me. If Lauren cannot talk to clients, I do not know how she can successfully perform that job. I hope the call was recorded and can be reviewed. She did not even say goodbye before hanging up. I also hope I get a call from the supervisor today. Again, my dog is a complicated case, so I am just seeking help given one wrong move can affect her severely. I have no issue coming in if that is the only way to get a question resolved, so please advise. Also, I am well aware there is a nationwide shortage in the vet industry right now, but if you are able to call back, you should be able to answer client questions and address client concerns. Hoping communication and quality responsiveness improves, as I have relied on this hospital for my dog's stability for years...and hope to not have to go elsewhere.
