Adopted my Buddy from them. He has since passed on, but the happiest 8 years of my life. He got lost once, was found by morning. Only had my moped as transpotation & they volunteered to drive him home in the shelters van. Very caring people.

Beyond rude, worst animal shelter I’ve ever been to. If they treat humans this way I can only imagine how they treat dogs. Will NEVER deal with these people again

Sent in application to get a dog. Found out the dog was adopted 2 months ago. Told them I was still interested in seeing the dogs available. Was told I needed a Appointment. After trying to make appointment which I could never do because no one would respond to any attempts to reach out. Point blank it was just terrible customer service.

Horrible!!!! I "had my puppy first vaccination" and my puppy started sneezing, coughing, nasal fluids and he can't breath. THE PUPPY WAS CLOSE TO DIE because have a Respiratory Infection( one of the vaccines is for avoid that) I'm not sure if they did their job because YOU CAN'T BE WITH YOUR PET INSIDE OF THE NEW BLDG because they have the old one close for the past months. We spending Hours to do our oldest dog test and they do not give us the pills(they requested the test to provide us the pills and my husband get back without it). The second time we was their for the vaccines of the puppy they do not have organizations and they charged us one amount and later the another senior lady came back with some attitudes with the another lady about she need to use her glasses because she charged us the incorrect amount. My puppy was crying horrible and we barely can touch him and he was close to die with that respiratory infection and obviously we called them and they DO NOT ANSWER the phone and we get to the reserve parking spot and finally they answered and told us is not their fault and we need to go to a Veterinary to check the puppy where they Certified the puppy had sick from that day. If another dog have the same problem and they do not have a good cleaning and they do not desinfects in the correct way the place only one drop of saliva is enough to contagious the rest of the pets in that place. This is a Shelter Sickness and I will never go with my dogs to their place. I'm spending the money in their "vaccines" plus the a lot of money in the Vet ER thanks of them, my puppy is under antibiotic and 3 more medications that's of them but he's Alive thanks God and Thanks to the Vet!! I do not go to their place never!! I do not take the chance of lost my dogs in their hands. If another people have good experiences good but sorry I do not recommend the place!!

I recently adopted a dog from here they were super nice. Didn't make us feel rushed we picked out the perfect dog. And he is perfect. We go back and get his heartworm medicine 3 months at a time and they are super friendly.

I’ve been visiting this shelter off an on for the past few weeks at the Tanger Outlets off 501. Every time I go during open hours, they have a sign outside saying they’re closed. Today was the 6th day I’ve gone and they’ve been closed during business hours. I live alone and have been seeking a small dog or cat as a companion but they never are open when they say they are! I’m beyond frustrated. Today when I stopped by around 1pm the closed sign was not outside and the doors were unlocked. When I walked inside I was greeted by a young lady that told me they were CLOSED. I asked her since they had no sign outside & the doors were unlocked and I saw at least 6 staff members If I would be able to walk around and l could look for a possible companion because I was very interested in adopting from this shelter. The lady refused and told me I was only allowed to look if I had a specific animal in mind. Looking at animals online doesn’t do justice to seeing them in person and having first hand experience of how they act in your presence. The lady then told me to “come back tomorrow” because they would be open normal business hours tomorrow. Honestly, I’ve came to this shelter 6 days (2 consecutive) during business hours and they’ve been closed. I no longer care to adopt an animal from this facility. I would also like to add that the lady informed me they were short staffed. However, I saw 6 people wearing employee/volunteer shirts were inside the building (this does not include possible people in the back room & the building didn’t seem over 900sq ft). I don’t understand for such a small area and few animals how they were short staffed that hour.

We recently adopted a beautiful mixed breed 6 month old puppy. He immediately stole our hearts and all of the staff as well. Please don't shop, adopt!

I brought my cat to GSHS today for shots and they were as kind and prompt as they could be, despite the fact that they have no in-house vet and are trying to find another place to relocate. I emailed them this morning to find out if the temporary clinic was still at their old location and I was contacted before the office even opened! They were kind and sweet, and I feel for them; they are doing extremely well and really care for their animals. Thank you, GSHS for being there for the community!

Waited 2 hours for clinic...I understand they are short staffed, and I hate that. But they need to a better job at communicating wait times. Ended up having to leave because I had to work and my dog still needs her shots. Even a simple update would have kept me from wasting 2 hours of my time and stressing my dog out for no reason.

Went to p/u cat after being neutered, arrived at 3pm(was told to come then). They were very busy, staff was irritable and disrespectful to pet parent. Explained I had to go to work, was told if I left without my cat that I would forfeit the adoption and this is after they got their $70.00. Made numerous calls while sitting in my car for 2 hours, same rude person answered the phone each time and couldn't give me an answer. Finally at 5:10p the director came out and said I could leave my cat overnight if I had to leave, in the meantime I lost an hour of work due to disrespectful people.Makes you wonder if no respect for humans , how do they treat animals?

This is my dog Scooby. We were at Grand Strand Humane Society on August 10, 2021, for the vaccination clinic. Scooby was given Rabies 1 year vaccine, DHLPP 1 year vaccine, and Bordetella 1 year vaccine. We were there late in the afternoon, in fact I was the last person there. My dog was lying around that night, I didn't think anything, because that is how he did, when given shots before. The next morning my Scooby was dead. My dog was healthy, running around that Tuesday morning, got the shots, then dead the next morning. I called and left messages with a lady at the front desk, and other messages on the voice mail. I have never heard from the clinic's vet, nor anyone else from the clinic. You would think that they might, in a compassionate way, cared about what happened to my dog after he was a patient there. Ignoring people's problems with your services, does not make them go away. I want to know what happened with my dog that day. And if I have to get a attorney to find out I will. People Beware of this clinic!!!!

We brought our two dogs for rabies shots etc and they came out and told us “one of” our dogs tested positive for heartworms. Idk why they didn’t know which dog, but they took my 7 year old chihuahua back to retest thinking it was him. He tested negative. So our not even 1 year old at the time pitbull has heartworms. We were told we have to neuter him and then have 3 treatments done. We had to wait a month for him to be neutered, and we paid $200 for the neutering and the first treatment. We had to wait a month after the surgery for his first treatment. We went back two weeks ago for his first treatment appt and the doors were closed. We called and were told that their vets had quit. Why nobody bothered to tell us that BEFORE we drove our pitbull to Myrtle beach at 8am, idk. Okay so your vets quit… now what? Oh… we’re trying to get new ones and the appts will all be rescheduled when we do. Fast forward to two weeks later… our dog was told he had heartworms 2 1/2 months ago and still can’t get the treatment we’ve paid for, after we’ve already neutered him. I understand it’s not their fault if their vets quit but it’s definitely their fault for not bothering to call their appts they already had set and tell them that, or call them within weeks even to say hey… sorry we haven’t rescheduled you yet but we ARE working on it. Something… anything. Communication is key. Meanwhile… my dog is dying. Super.
