I called in the morning because my dog sustained an injury, and they were able to get me in that afternoon. Everyone was SO kind, and even the nurse that trimmed my dogs nails was so patient and made sure he was comfortable before proceeding. They didn’t try to upsell anything, their prices are super affordable, and honestly everyone was just so great. It was my first time there, and I’ve definitely found my new vet. Cash and I thank you!!

Drs. Dean (two of them!) made an emergency visit at night to treat my horse, who showed signs of a serious condition. They were informative, and I appreciated that they responded to my calls and texts. UPDATE: 2 years later, Southern Oaks is the area's only horse vet we've found to be dependable for emergency calls and after hours (which, of course, is the only time we ever need to call them :-) They always find time to speak with us and, if necessary, drive out whenever one of our horses has a problem. They are very knowledgeable and experienced.

Helped fix my baby when I thought there was no hope. She is on the mend now. Couldn’t be more thankful.

Most dependable vets around. Have been taking care of my animals for years and would not go anywhere else.

The staff is friendly and the doctors are understanding, they took the time to answer all the questions I had as well as clarify things I did not understand. The only issue I had was that I had an appointment set at 2pm but did not get seen until about an hour an a half or so later. I did notice that it was busy/packed and I am assuming that they just got backed up. Besides the really long wait the services provided was excellent and inexpensive. I do hope that the wait time was just due to them having a pretty big crowd of people that day.

The quality of care and service my animals receive at Southern Oaks Animal Hospital is second to none! The veterinarians and staff are always compassionate and understanding. They make certain I understand the best course of treatment and take the time to explain all of the options available. I will be a client for life!!

Like a ton of other reviews, I would not recommend this vet office. The staff is all nice and helpful, but no matter what time your appt is, you’re waiting for at least an hour and a half before you’re taken to a room. My mom stopped taking her pups here because of this, but I was hanging in there. The last straw for me was when I had my puppy fixed there. She’s 9 months old and maybe 6lbs & this pic is her incision site…. It looks very sloppy and insanely large on her tiny body. We’ve had kittens fixed with smaller and better looking incisions. Very disappointed and regret trusting them with my baby :(

They advised me to come and drop my pet off for services, but what they didn't say was I was going to have to wait an hour and a half just to have a pet drop off. This veterinary office is not professional at all if you are in a hurry this is not the place to take your pet. The front desk is in shambles they are the absolute worst. Their veterinary care is only fair it's nothing terrific or out of the ordinary this is the absolute last time I will deal with them and I'm finding a new veterinarian.

They are a very busy place but they have the top care of all patients! If you pet has an emergency they are alway there to help.

The staff is very friendly. However, be prepared to wait, even with an apt. I have always had to wait at least 30 minutes or more to be called back for apt.

I have used this vet for years, and they have always taken care of my animals in a professional manner. Some times my wait is longer than others as with any doctors office or vet office. These things can't be timed. I am sure it never has to do with race. Always someone wants to play the race card.

Southern Oaks Animal Hospital is well worth our 45 min drive. While it can be very busy and seem hectic at times, the entire staff is truly devoted to making sure your pet gets the best care. Special thanks to Dr Marie Burris for her willingness and dedication to care for our Duet (canine) even after she was transferred to Points East Emergency for the weekend. Not many vets will call/text you 2x per day to check and see how our fur baby is doing!

Yes I love the care they give to my animals I will say that but with that said they are extremely slow just to check you out it makes no sense that you wait over 30 minutes just to check out it should never be that long i understand they are busy but when all you have to do is pay and they would rather sit there and talk an play on their phone needs to stop. Ppl have families

This rating is specifically for the complimentary nail trim service. I can see why it is complimentary. I took my dog there on 7-12-21 and dropped her off for all her shots, dental work, and a nail trim while she was there. This morning she was limping and didn't want to put any weight on her right rear leg. As you can see in the picture almost all her nails were cut into the cuticles. This infuriates me because I trusted her care to you and now she is in pain. This is the last time any of my dogs will visit this place.

Fantastic vet! Thank you so much Dr. Dean and staff! My dog Lola needed orthopedic surgery to fix her knee when she tore her ACL and Dr. Dean got her in quickly and performed a complicated surgery that very few vets even know how to do. My whole experience from beginning to end was phenomenal. The front desk was efficient and helpful, the techs were knowledgeable and kind, and all the staff really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Dr. Dean just couldn't have been more professional yet he was very down to earth. Despite a full lobby and an obviously busy day, he took the time to explain everything about Lola's surgery so I knew what to expect and how to take care of her . He was so reassuring. I live over two hours away and drove all the way to Fayetteville because of his reputation. It was easy to see why Dr. Dean's practice is so highly regarded. Thank you again Dr. Dean!

Would have given zero stars if that was an option. I waited 2 weeks for my new patient appointment. Scheduled it for the last slot of the day so I wouldn’t miss much work. I get there 10 minutes prior like I was asked to AND I did the registration beforehand like I was asked. Waited over an hour and a half and still wasn’t seen. I called an hour after my appointment time and was told that I could either wait or reschedule but if I rescheduled it would be another 2-3 weeks before my dog would be seen. I was recommended to come here from my old vet because I needed something on this side of town. I will be returning to my old vet. Unsatisfactory. I don’t know how they stay in business.

Im not typically the review leaving person but where do I even begin. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. We’ve always had amazing service and super friendly staff. That was until a few months ago. My dog was having issues with throwing up all the time. So I took her here since this is where she has been seen ever since I got her. They took X-rays and wanted me to watch her and keep a record of all her feedings, urination and bowel movements for the weekend so I did. We went back in on the following Monday since they had an idea of what the issue was but wanted to run a test to see. So me being the concerned pet owner, I agree. After this $200+ test they tell me that they think it’s the same exact issue… are you kidding me??? Isn’t that what that test was for?! All in all I spent over $400 for them to just tell me to try changing Her food… couldn’t they have started with that before all that money was spent? Pretty ticked off about that. And then I take my dog every other month to get a bath and nail trim. It’s always been when you get a service, the nail trim is free. The last 2-3 times I’ve had to correct them on that because they have tried charging me for it. This happened again yesterday when I brought her and they said they can’t grant that complimentary nail trim unless she gets a fecal… come on now. Really? Oh and those nail trims, are rough cuts and sometimes cause my dogs nails to layer where it wasn’t smoothed out. Let’s not even mention how rude *some* of the staff is and the wait for a bath drop off and pick up. I hate to leave here, but I’m highly unsatisfied. The staff don’t seem to care whatsoever and just what your money. The staff that used to be there was much faster, nicer, and more caring. I’ve had enough and we will not be going back.

Absolutely the best animal hospital I have ever been to. Dr. Dean and staff see you as more than just a client. They go above and beyond to make sure you and your pet are taken care of in every way. The knowledge, care, and empathy they give to each situation cements why I drive over an hour for anything my dog's need. They are a big practice and sometimes there is a wait, however, the care received here is worth any wait. You will not regret using Southern Oaks for ALL of your animal care needs.

We had to take our shepherd here when he started having seizures all of a sudden. He was only two years old. They said it could be anything. He developed seizures and was put on medicine. One time he had a bad seizure and we rushed him to the vet. While he was panting on the ground and clearly out of it a lady came in the room and demanded we pay from a previous bill. Said we had walked out of the vet without paying. The last time we had been there was for a seizure and by the time we were done the whole front had been closed. The worker had told us to just go home and escorted us out the side door. But here we are worried for our shepherd about what's happening to him and the lady completely disregards him and accuses us of walking out. Said we couldn't get help for our shepherd until we paid, meanwhile our shepherd was falling over and walking into stuff trying to come out of his seizure episodes. We found this to be completely unprofessional and thought it was highly rude. We would have paid but the worker told us that the front was already closed and that we could do it when a bill came in the mail. I adore dr. Chavis, but the rest to too much to have to put up with. Incredibly long wait times even with appointments.

I've been happy with this vet for 6 months. Now I won't be returning. I dropped my boy off at 10 am for a few small things including a vaccine. At 11:50am I was called and asked if they could do a earsmear because he might have an ear infection and of course I said yes. Anything to get my boy healthy. That was the last time I had heard from them. They close at 5:30. Its a 30 minute drive for me and at 5pm still no one called to let me know if he's ready or not. I had to be at work at 6. I decided to just drive up there and pick him up even though no one called. Went to the front desk and told them im here to pick up my dog and the girl got his file and read a few things to me and I paid my bill. She asked me if someone has called me to talk to me about what they did and so on and I said no, that no one has called me not even to pick him up. I asked her then if they had forgot about him or about me, I was frustrated but not rude, she agreed with me and said someone should've called and if that ever happened again to call up there at around 3pm because thats when they're usually done. What? So my dog was ready at 3 and was sitting in a kennel for 1 1/2 while im sitting at home waiting on a call to pick him up and bring him home where he is free and not shoved in a "prison"? I am so clueless of what happened there, but it was extremely unprofessional and I won't be coming back.

This is the best and most accommodating vet's office. Recently had to see them to send my beloved pet cat off peacefully and they allowed me to bring her in as a walk in when I was ready. I also rcvd a condolence card from them signed by the office staff. We will continue to take our other two cats to this location. Have been going here for 14 yrs. The best in the county. Driving by the parking lot alone is proof!!!
