My pets mean a lot to me. They take great care of my animals. The entire staff is friendly and very competent. The bill is always a fair price. I have never felt like they have charged me for something not needed.

Sandhills Veterinary Hospital has been wonderful to my 4 legged house mates. They treat them with the highest respect and kindness, giving them the best care. I've always received follow up calls and have been able to get them in at a moments notice when something has come up. Dr Thomas is the best!

My puppy (Shiloh) is a new patient at Sandhills and I am so glad that I decided to go with this office for him! The staff are so friendly and kind. The vet tech who came in to see us at his first well visit sat right on the floor with him to play with him before she took him for his exam. When I needed to get him in for an emergency appointment due to illness they found me an early appointment and were so willing to be flexible with me as I work nightshifts. They listened to my concerns and presented realistic options for treatments. Dr. Beard was honest about what treatments may be beneficial but not necessary and gave me such clear instructions for his care. He also was very patient with my questions and concerns. Everyone involved in Shiloh’s care has been so sweet and concerned for him. They’ve been incredibly responsive to my updates on his status and have amazing communication. As I navigate this new adventure as a first time dog mom I am truly so thankful Shiloh has this team to look after his best interest and keep him as healthy as possible. Thank you Sandhills team!!

PLEASE READ: THEY ALMOST KILLED MY PUPPY! I started taking my two dogs to Sandhills Vet Hospital when I first moved to town based on a Neighborhood recommendation of Dr. Thomas. For routine visits and first shots with my puppy, Dr. Thomas was great. However, when I decided to board my dogs there over a holiday weekend, things went south very quickly. I was about 2 hours outside of town when Dr. Rosmer called to tell me that my puppy had a seizure. I asked if it was severe and if we needed to come back to get him, and she said that he was fine, just “a little drowsy” from the anti-seizure meds they put him on, and that she was just calling to get permission to run tests to make sure this would not be a recurring issue for him. I said yes, and continued on my way to Georgia. An hour later she called to tell me that the tests were clear, but that Freddy could no longer stay at the vet for boarding that weekend, and that we needed to come get him. I told her that she instructed me to “enjoy my weekend” and continue going out, so that wasn’t really an option. She suggested I asked a friend to transport Freddy to CVETS since they could provide 24/7 supervision—in case he had another seizure while we were gone. We ended up turning around and coming back to transport him ourselves. When we walked into the lobby, the office had already closed for the day, so we were the only ones there. The office staff kept looking at my husband and I with big sad eyes and saying “I’m so sorry” as they led us into one of the patient rooms. When they left us, I told my husband, “I think he died and they just couldn’t tell us on the phone.” Dr. Rosmer came to greet us, told us about the tests they’d run, and said she’d be back in a moment with Freddy who was “just a little drowsy” from the meds. She brought him into the room and placed him ON THE FLOOR. He was wrapped in a towel and certainly more than “a little drowsy.” He was hooked up to an IV, drooling uncontrollably, and couldn’t control his body so he was just peeing on himself. I broke down, at which point Dr. Thomas walked by the room and said “Oh, he didn’t perk up when he saw you two?” It appalls me that he thinks my puppy would’ve “perked up” when he was in this state. I picked Freddy up off the floor so that we could rush him to CVETS—the local animal emergency room, but the office staff stopped us on the way out to 1) ask us to give back to towel he was wrapped in, and 2) ask us to pay our bill. Again…appalled. When we got Freddy to CVETS, the vets there told us that he was not “just drowsy,” he was unresponsive and in a coma with very little brain activity. They told us that there was a very little chance of him ever waking up, and IF he did, he has been in this state and untreated for so long while under the care of the vets at Sandhills that he would have severe mental disabilities and would likely not be able to live a normal life. The emergency vets asked if there is anything he got into, and I said the only new thing in his life was the Capstar pill administered to him at Sandhills. Sandhills apparently has a boarding policy that says any animal who boards there gets a Capstar (flea treatment pill) upon arrival even if they’re on preventative medications like Freddy was. I’ve since talked to many vets who all say this is not typical practice. Capstar has seizures as a side effect. However, after telling CVETS this, they seemed to be surprised because Sandhills didn’t even include this information on his paperwork from boarding. After a lot of praying and some true miracle workers over at CVETS, my puppy was able to wake up and has been completely healthy and happy since then. There have been no seizures since that day (one year ago today) which leads CVETS and my new vet to confirm the cause was the Capstar pill combined with severe negligent veterinary practice at Sandhills that day. All that to say, I would not trust my animals with the vets at Sandhills Veterinary Hospital if you want to keep them alive. Dr. Rosmer is lucky to still have a license.

Sandhills Veterinary Hospital is the the worst VET I have ever had the displeasure to work with. They are negligent, disrespectful, and uncaring towards animals and their owners. They will not only downplay the ailments of your animals to cover themselves but will also have the audacity to ask you to pay for their horrible and negligent care. The only reason I paid for the charges they most obviously shouldn’t have asked for me to pay for was so I wouldn’t have to argue with them as I carried MY DYING DOG out of there in my arms because he had practically no brain activity and needed immediate emergency medical attention. If you take your pet here, be wary as you may never see them the same again. We were lucky, as our puppy was saved by nearby CVETS. I wouldn’t trust the staff there to keep any animal safe or cared for. Simply put, the worst experience I’ve ever had at any establishment. I hope they are embarrassed by their practice, which shouldn’t even be allowed to be open. Worst of all, my animal almost died in their care and had to be rushed away (at the expense of my wife and me going on our first wedding anniversary vacation) to emergency care (which was NOT cheap), there was not a single follow up call about his condition or offer of remorse at his life being risked. I would rather die than enter their building again. Do not ever take your animal there or they may face the same fate as my puppy.

Dr. Thomas changed my life when I came in with a unhealthy fur baby. We have been with him for 4 years and my fur baby is still here. Front desk staff Andrea and Jessica are the most caring and they know patients coming in and have smiles that are so welcoming. I will never go anywhere else.

I have been taking my dog to Sandhills Veterinary Hospital for over 6 years. I won’t go anywhere else. Dr. Thomas is fantastic with my dog and the staff are super friendly and efficient. It’s evident that they all know and like my dog. Dr. = fantastic, receptionists = fantastic, assistant’s = fantastic, boarding is friendly, caring and fantastic, grooming is onsite and is fantastic.

Brought my two Labs in for new patient visits and will not be returning. While the Veterinarian seemed very knowledgeable and competent, her and a few of the other staff members were very rude. This is a good veterinary hospital if you can get past the fact that most of the staff are not friendly.
