Really nice front staff. Parking is always a little cramped here but still worth using them.

Male receptionist is extremely rude and condescending. Took my little dog in to have herteeth cleaned, she came back without any of her front teeth because they said the teeth just fell out during cleaning. She’s now having difficulty eating, No one from Rea rd animal hospital called to check on her condition since her procedure required some form of anesthesia. We’ve had this procedure performed on our pets in the past at other veterinary clinics and they always called to make sure our dog was ok. They’d do well to remember that our pets are like members of our family and very important to us and should be treated as such!

I just recently relocated to the area, and my little Shorkie developed an issue. Fortunately, my daughter's dog is a patient at Rea Road and she suggested I give them a call. I did, and they quickly got Oscar in within 24 hours! Everyone was so helpful and attentive to getting Oscar in quickly and get him evaluated. Thank you so much to everyone at Rea Road - I would highly recommend this practice for your pets!!!

We’ve been taking our furry family members to Rea Road Animal Hospital for over 20 years. We especially love Doctor Smith. She’s awesome! We recently moved out of Ballantyne and still drive to RRAH even though we pass several other animal hospitals on the way.

Accurately diagnosed and began treatment of skin infection. The condition is much improved in just days. Dr. Gillis and his staff are always helpful and effective. They truly care about my pet.

The professionals at RRAH have always been the best for helping to take care of my dog with me. They walk me through why they do what they do and then always ask permission before they move forward with anything. They also walk me through each of the medications they prescribe and what they do. A vet visit isn't always the most fun for my pup but they make sure her tail is wagging by the time we walk out! I have interacted with two Doctors and both are so amazing. Also, as of 7/28/2021, I was given the option to do curbside service or to go in the room with my dog as long as I wore a mask. Thank you RRAH!

I can't say enough great things about the doctors, nurses and staff at Rea Road Animal Hospital. I have been taking my 12 year old Westie to them since he was a puppy and we always receive great service and high quality veterinary care. Dr. Smith, Dr. Bryant and Dr. O'Hara are kind, compassionate and knowledgeable while the nurses and front desk staff are professional, friendly and always helpful. A few years ago we moved across town and tried a vet closer to home but quickly returned to Rea Road. They are the best in Charlotte and I wouldn't trust my pet's health to anyone else.

I came to know Dr Forhecz a few months ago when my 17 1/2 year old feline, Sassy, started to be loosing weight pretty quickly. Dr Forhecz treated her for her thyroid without doing a boatload of tests. She seemed to being doing fine with everything but her weight. Dr Forhecz also found pretty bad arthritis in her “elbows” when taking an X-ray of her lungs. So we began treating her with something for pain. All this time I’m keeping Dr Forhecz advised of Sassy’s progress and we discussed euthanasia as an alternative. But even though Sassy’s condition kept deteriorating, I was not ready yet to put her down. About a month ago Sassy was noted that she could not hear, and had extremely poor eyesight. She started following me around the house and had to be next to me when sitting and sleeping. About 2 weeks later she was unable to jump up on sofa or bed and I made adjustments. Plus she no longer was able to use the litter box at which time I put out “pee pads” for her. All that worked for about a minute. Finally, about 2 weeks later when she began meowing from the middle of the room, like she was calling for someone to help her, I was ready to go through with her being euthanized. It was about a month before she would be 18 years old. I waited for Dr Forhecz to be in the office and came in. I really appreciate Dr Forhecz and Rea Road staff for being so supportive and understanding of Sassy’s and my situation and gave us the privacy needed without feeling rushed. I just had to write this to show how appreciative I am for our treatment at Rea Road Animal Hospital. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Pat Madonia Sassy

Dr. Joe O’ Hara is fabulous! There was a conflict with scheduling and my appointment, but the front desk and the doctor made it work and found a way to fit me in. They didn’t make me feel like I was an inconvenience or rush the process. Dr. O’hara took his time and talked me through the whole process of what he was seeing. I can tell this is his passion, and his desire to get my animal back to good health were genuine. There are so many other great things I could say about my experience, office and team- just truly appreciative for their help and making this experience for me as simple, easy and budget friendly as possible. Harley, Lou and I say thank you so much!

I stopped going to Rea Road when the practice sold because I could no longer afford it & some of The changes in my opinion were not for the best - HOWEVER - a recent terrifying (& ongoing) event with my dog Zoe made me realize I couldn’t afford NOT to be with Dr Gillis & Dr Dozier. They are the absolute best. Having compassionate & professional people like Paige Cuesta & Kylia Davis at the front (& yes when someone makes a difference in your visit when you are upset about your dog - you get their damn names.) Elisabeth Schulz is the best of techs & took such good care of my girl. I cannot say enough about their professionalism (not to mention their patience with an hysterical owner that had been dealing with emergency vets for two days - thank you Elisabeth & Gillis….) I am there as long as Dr Gillis & Dr Dozier are! Also thank you to Dr Forhecz who I haven’t met yet but that is a whiz with the ultrasound!

From scheduling appointment up to the actual visit, they are professional and patient. I also like that they do curbside consultation to protect our pets and ourselves from the pandemic. Everyone is courteous, from the phone call taker, to the receptionist and our vet, dr. Lauren.

One of the hardest times in a pet owners life is having to put their pet down. On Monday we had to put our sweet Leighton down. The compassion and empathy shown to us by Dr. O'Hara and the staff was so appreciated during such a difficult time. For that we thank you.

Random recently broke a nail and was in some pain. I was able to get a same day appointment with Dr. Bryant who took care of her with kindess and compassion. Earlier in the month, Random was in for her yearly checkup with Dr. Bryant. In both cases, followup questions were answered promptly. Random is now back to her normal, stubborn self.

Took dog bc of odd symptoms. The vet looked him over and sent us to a specialist without doing any blood work or anything. I left a message with the vet requesting blood work... 2 business days later... Not even a returned phone call. …

I currently have two cats and a dog and I've been taking them to Rea Road Animal Hospital for 7 years. They take very good care of the animals in their care and they treat their four-legged patients with love. My pets have been treated by Dr. Bryant and Dr. Gillis. They are both great.
