We’ve been seeing Dr. Wheelock for almost twenty years. He is the absolute best! We followed him to Dilworth when he opened his own practice even though we are in far North Charlotte. He has assembled a team that is equally awesome!! The best FULL LIFE care for out babies. He’s been there when we’ve had to make the hard decisions and always acts with empathy and what is best for the patient.

Honestly can't put into words how thankful I am for Dr.Toth. When my bearded dragon prolapsed. I had an extremely hard time find an exotic vet to help me help her. I was a mess. She took her in and fixed her right up. She was very communicative during the whole process. It's been an incredibly hard journey for my beardie but thanks to her and also Dr.Collier for do everything they can to get my girl on track. Thanks to their knowledge, help, and guidance. They go above and beyond. I have been able to get my girl much better and hopeful she will make a full recovery. Can't thank them enough and for this practice. The staff is amazing as well. When it comes to an exotic clinic and exotic vets. I highly recommend this place.

Dilworth Animal Hospital is by far the best vet experience I have ever had. My rescue dog is extremely anxious at the vet, and they were very accommodating to make it the best experience possible. The entire staff truly cares about the animals having a great experience. The building is clean and has a home like feel that also helps pets get taken care of with the least amount of stress possible. Highly recommend giving them a call if you are looking for a vet in central Charlotte.

Usually vet visits are not a very pleasant experience.. After being turned away from Long animal hospital, then going to Animal Medical Hospital who quoted an arm and a leg I was unsure of what to do- I had called this animal hospital amongst many others first thing in the morning to try and squeeze my dog in for an appointment after a long 27 hours of him not eating/ drinking and vomiting. The receptionist who answered (Sam I believe) was so kind and understanding.. she advised they had an appointment available for later in the day around 4:30 pm and She would reach out to his vet for his records. After they received his information from the animal medical hospital (they are horrible and lost my dogs vaccination records) they called me back and told me to bring him in right away. They communicated everything to me that they were going to do and kept him for the entire day. The dr called to let me know he was doing well and what the treatment plan would be. Between the communication, friendliness and empathy this establishment has exuded, I just cannot thank them enough. From squeezing my boy in to keeping him and monitoring him all day made me feel some comfort that they truly cared. It’s so clean in there and everyone was very friendly. Thank you all again!

My son's pet snake was having difficulty breathing and Dilworth worked him in and took great care of him even though they had no availability. I am so thankful for their help and obvious love of animals.

Update 2/25/21: We were thinking to take our pups back to get teeth cleaning because it was too expensive at the place we switched to. The new place wanted $5 to 600. We remembered Dilworth charged $3 to 400 before. So we called to get an estimate. Whomever picked up the phone coped an attitude after he found out we've been going somewhere else and refused to give a quote and also requested medical records from the prior place. After discussing, we were like F it. We'd rather pay $200 more at the other place with no attitude than Dilworth animal hospital. Thanks man. You just lost your boss a few hundred bucks! Lowering to 2 stars. Update: The owner reached out to us and apologized for the experience and advised will train staff to better avoid situations like this in the future. Was also told that the new location will be ready in summer. Given the great experiences we've had in the past, I'm increasing the review from 2 to 4 stars. Regardless, this recent experience was pretty awful so I can't give a 5 star. Original review: Took my dogs in for blood tests and update tic meds. Was always good. BUT Recently their location burned down and now they're in a temp office space. Only got 2 exam rooms. They asked me to sit in a waiting room. Room was part break room, part waiting room, part storage room. I thought I was waiting for an exam room to open but 2 workers came to draw my dog's blood on the break room table with left over bojangles on it. Then another dude asked if my dogs taking any new meds and I said yes. He looked annoyed but trying to hide it. He went to ask a vet if the meds would have any affect with current meds. He then orally gave the meds and said I could check out. The vet didn't even come to see us, which never happened before. I felt we were rushed. I asked when the old place would be fixed and they don't know but said maybe never! This temp location sucks! We're thinking to change vets cuz of this...

If you have a reptile this is definetly the vet to go to. I had a issue with my Chameleon and they were able to get me in that day and take care of everything. Took great care of my chameleon, definetly recomend this vet.

My wife and I had been seeking a second opinion for our furry son. No disrespect to our current Dr and clinic is meant in any way as we’ve had a very good experience. As you are reading this review you understand we consider Jackson family member and wanted to assure he had the best care. We checked around for a local vet for a second opinion and when we read the excellent reviews at Dilworth and the client experiences we called to get an appointment. Getting the appointment was a breeze and they even addressed having his records sent over for review. I also explained that Jackson typically doesn’t do well with other dogs and they made all of the necessary arrangements to assure a safe transition from the car to their office. The initial lady that did the intake was very impressive and did a great job making us feel comfortable. So after a small wait in the car we saw Dr Wheelock approach the car. He was very thorough explaining his diagnosis and was so very compassionate we were both impressed, and touched by the entire visit. The cost was quoted at the initial intake; however Dr Wheelock gave us an unbelievable rate. Especially considering the peace of mind he provided. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent veterinarian clinic.

Save your money. This place will take it every chance they get. I brought my dog here just wanting them to look at his eye because it was red and had discharge and before my dog even stepped foot into the vet they brought a bill for $200 out to my car. So ridiculous.

I took my dog in to be neutered on 3/12/20. Upon completion of the surgery the Vet gave me meds and instructions for my dog's recovery and told me she would call me to check up over the next few days. I never received that phone call. About 4 days after the surgery the area around the incision on my dog swelled up to about 4 or 5 times its normal size, was red and was hot. I tried calling Dilworth Animal Hospital several times and left a message, but the answering machine just said the were closed for the week or were in a staff meeting. I was never able to get through and never received a returned call, so I had to take my dog to another vet for treatment. Thankfully they were able to prescribe some medicine and my dog is healthy. When I finally connected with someone over a week later to schedule a time to get the staples removed I discussed the incident and never so much as received an apology and never heard from the operating Vet. It's hard for me to believe that Vet can think that it's ok to perform a surgery on a pet, then go close up their office for a week without checking up after surgery. After a year of business with Dilworth Animal Hospital, I will not be returning and suggest that you find somewhere else to take your pets.

Dr. Wheelock is amazing and so are the other docs and the rest of the staff. We have entrusted them with our beloved girl for 10 years. They have never let us down and they sincerely care about their patients.

They have been my vet for several years, and as I also foster for a rescue I am at the vet a good bit. I’ve found them wonderful to work with. Most importantly they are always knowledgeable and professional, but even beyond that everyone has always been so helpful and truly caring. Recently, I had the unfortunate experience of loosing my dog, who was my heart, unexpectedly to an aggressive cancer and their kindness made a terrible situation easier.

Dilworth Animal Hospital is a vet I feel I can rely on and trust. In an emergency I had to visit another practice and it felt like a completely different experience that left my dog anxious and scared, something that has never happened at DAH. The entire staff there truly cares and loves each animal like their own so it’s always been a welcoming place that feels like home.
