People at front desk just mean. No reason for the way they treat and speak to people. Not helpful and don't teally like to answer questions. Bad experience for me and all I want is to adopt a dog.

Over all love this place, gave me my two babies completely free because they were unwanted and were only priced at $10. The ONLY complaint I have is my second dog Biggie (previously know as Dude) I fostered before adopting. To begin, I didn't fill out any paperwork on the dog, he was literally handed to me in the parking lot. Which shows carelessness on their end. It was supposed to be a 2 week trial period, he was heartworm positive and they provided the medication, which I am extremely grateful for. Before the trial period ended (2 weeks) Biggie started having seizures. Very bad seizures I reached out for help or direction on the matter since he was my first sick baby. They were no help, and gave me only two options: Keep him or bring him back. I knew bringing him back was not an option. Sick dogs that need daily medication are not easy to adopt. My only complaint is that they were aware of Biggie's seizures, since they had had him over a month and with other foster families and did NOT disclose that information, then left us to fend for ourselves with no help or direction. Thankfully I found Animal Long Hospital and they have saved my baby's life on 5 occasions while we were working on finding the perfect medication cocktail. He is now properly medicated, and happy and healthy as can be. I just wish I knew this before hand so he wouldn't have gone through so much. I love them for giving me my baby but hate that he had to suffer as much.

I found a stray cat. I called 311. I filed a report. I placed found pet ads, as per animal controls requirements for finding stray animals. So when the officer showed up, he refused to take the cat. I told him she was not fixed and had no microchip. He said I can't keep her and I need to let her go. I said but she'll end up pregnant or run over, she is in heat. He said, "well that's just what cats do." No wonder we have such a huge stray cat population in Mecklenburg county. This was an awful attitude this public servant had, who is supposed to have animal welfare as his goal. Your tax dollars at work....

The two stars are for my amazing fur baby who I adore. But honestly this place does not inform you well about the procedures of everything and there’s only two friendly workers there.

Still on the search to adopt a shelter dog. Was happy to see that the boy I was there to adopt was getting adopted as I walked in. It warmed my heart. Still plan to have our first family dog come from this shelter. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable of the animals personalities. The family that adopted Benji got a wonderful dog. What a sweetie!! :)

We were looking for a small or mid size dog. We were first in line but once we came back to the front desk we had to go back to the end of the line which didn’t work out for us because of our schedules. Kinda defeated the purpose of getting there super early. Other than that it was a good experience. We will go back. We did see 3 dogs we liked!

Staff is a bit overwhelmed and understaffed but still hanging in there. There are plenty of dogs that need some love there and are waiting for you to come meet them and give them a home and family to love.

Great place for the animals. My friends cat was taken there after being badly burned in a fire. The vet did a first class job with her. She is recovering nicely. My friend however....

We adopted a dog today, after coming in almost every day for a week. Every time we came in, everyone was so helpful and kind and patient! They took the time to listen to us and took great care of us. Our new dog is settling in so nicely and we are so grateful for everyone who worked with us to bring our new girl, Jess, home! (:

The staff while short handed is very friendly and efficient in their jobs! I visited the shelter multiple times over a span of a few months looking for our perfect fit dog and the staff was always very transparent about the animals that they had which was a huge plus for me! We finally found our pup & I’m thrilled with how the whole process went.
