The individuals working here are top notch. The ladies at the front and the team in the back have the best attitudes. My pug lost her eye and I was so traumatized. They were very kind to me and made me feel comfortable. Thank you!

I have never had a bad experience at this clinic. All of the staff is nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. It's nice when a doctor doesn't seem to want to rush you out and explains everything. The fact that you get to see a doctor at all is amazing. I have to drive from Gastonia to Charlotte but it's worth it!

Very disappointed in how we were treated bringing in a 13 year old Yorkie who was having breathing issues. Very rude, no compassion, or sympathy in what we were going through on Christmas Eve. A lot of miscommunication and rude comments during our last visit with our dying pet.

Woke up to my cat very sick at 3 in the morning, I know my animals normal behavior and knew that something was very very wrong. I immediately looked online to see if they were open and called ahead to let them know I was on my way, like the website suggested. When I get there, they immediately take kitty and give me forms to complete. After completing the forms, they bring kitty out to me, say nothing presents to be wrong with her, tell me they can’t take anymore animals until 7 when the other vet arrives, and implied I may not be able to pay the emergency vet fee. It was suggested to take her to my regular vet or the office in Matthews. Here is my complaint: I called ahead to let you know I was on my way. Why didn’t they ask me her symptoms then, tell me they couldn’t take any new animals until 7, or suggest from symptoms given I go to Matthews or wait to call my regular vet when they opened? Nothing against the tech or vet, just disappointed with the manner in which my situation was handled. If more thorough communication would have been used when I called ahead, kitty could have been treated faster and more efficiently. If you’re going to take your pet there, try to remember through your distress of what’s wrong your pet, to ask these questions. I have learned my lesson the hard way and would not want someone to go through the same thing.

I was so appreciative at the experience I had here. My dog had bladder stones and one dropped down into her urethra and created a blockage, which is life threatening, so I brought her in. The doctor worked with her for hours. She was able to extract the bladder to relieve the pressure, and then finally, the stone dropped back into the bladder. I would have had them do the surgery, but because she was able to push the stone back in, I was able to take her to our normal vet to do it for less. Everyone was super nice and I really sensed they cared. Five star experience.

I am leaving a 1 star review because this business has the upmost worst business practices. My local vet mishandled a procedure and then to correct it, sent me here on my local vet's dime. Procedure was properly done, however now 11 months later CVS will not stop billing me and saying my balance is overdue. I call them EVERY TIME and as soon as they see my account they say "oh yeah, we can see that your Vet was billed for this and has paid, i will correct this on your account now". Then a few months later..bill shows up again. Now being threatened with being sent to collections. Absolute mismanagement of anything going on in the back office. Which is a shame because I fully believe the people actually doing the services here are great.

Sadly (and greatly) disappointed that I was billed $472.00 for an ultrasound exam on my dog with the results not being given to me, but only forwarded on to my veterinarian. My dog died that night with me not knowing why. ???? Find another animal hospital. They're a sham.

Always the most kind, caring staff. They are amazing with emergencies, calmly but quickly jumping into action. This is the 2nd visit we've had in an emergent situation with our special needs pup and they have went above and beyond both times. I cannot express in words how grateful we are for CVS!

STAY AWAY!! management is horrendous. show up to be told there are no doctors working (they tout 24/7 emergency clinic-LIES). returned the next day, empty parking lot, 30 mins in the room waiting still no sign of a doctor, ask the front desk girls if we're still on the docket (more LIES), wait 30 more mins and literally walk out. the two girls at the front desk didn't say a peep.

DO NOT bother taking you pet here in an emergency. You are not allowed to walk in with an emergency. You call a number from the parking lot to speak with someone. In my case I brought my pet here for a true emergency. I called the number and was put on HOLD for 9 minutes. I hung up and called back and was told, "We are not taking any more emergency patients today". WHAT????? Ended up at Longs in Southend and they are amazing. Bottom line, drive right past this place and go to Longs Emergency Vet.

Very impressed with this clinic, I saw Dr Kevin Delles about my dog who I have had a hard time finding a diagnosis for. He explained everything on the ultrasound and gave a clear plan about the next steps to take and treatments to pursue as well as the expectations for each. It was so helpful! The receptionists were also very kind and helpful. It was a pricey visit as I expected but really did not have to wait long for an Emergency Vet even though we were not an emergency. Really grateful to work with such a quality veterinarian!

I brought my dog in for an emergency visit and both locations Charlotte & Matthews reported they were not taking patients. You don’t go to an emergency vet for a check up; in a time of need they handed me a piece of paper and told me to check out the two other locations over 25 minutes away. They didn’t even allow me to talk to a vet. Very disappointed.

Two months ago, my cocker spaniel was experiencing a severe UTI. I went to the emergency hospital because my own vet was too far away for me to get to. When I got there, I was put in a room immediately. It took 4 hours before I saw the vet who told me your dog has a UTI. No one checked on us during this time. I went out to the front desk twice to ask when someone might see us. The vet was apologetic when she did finally see us. She told me that there was a dying puppy in the office. While I understood that emergency for that pet parent what about my emergency!?!? By the time we were seen there were multiple puddles of bloody urine. I cleaned up each one but by the time the vet got there we had a pile of paper towels pushed up against the wall. I felt like a hostage. I felt that I could go no where else because of the severity of the UTI. My recommendation is to go anywhere else if at all possible.

Yesterday, I went with my friend who took her 13 year old dog in because she was extremely weak, disoriented, and had been sick the night before and earlier that day. From the moment we got there, it was a bad experience. The person who took the dog from us to take her back aggressively asked, "CPR or do not resuscitate?!" It caught me off guard to the point of tears, so I cannot imagine how my friend felt with the way this was addressed. When the nurse/receptionist came back, she did apologize for the way it happened. However, from that point on the experience never got better. In short, we waited 2 hours without ever being checked on or told what the status of her dog being examined. We had to get up and ask 3 times. No one ever came to talk to us. I think if someone would have at least checked on us our experience would have been different. In a profession like this, when you are dealing with people who are worried about their pets/family members, it is nice to know that you and your pet have not been forgotten about or that they care. This was not the experience we had. While no one checked in or updated us, there were long conversations that we could hear in the front where the people working there were laughing and carrying on. While on our end of things we were just waiting and worried. Overall, the staff was not professional, not helpful, nor compassionate AT ALL. I am a dog mom, and I will never take my dog here. I do not recommend.

The first time I brought Frankie to CVS he was about 9 weeks old. He couldn't keep anything on his stomach. The advice I got was "try giving him a little baby food" I tried it and it worked like a charm. The next time was when he had cataract surgery (2017). He was 10 and the thought of him not being able to see me was unbearable. They did the surgery and the next time I saw him, he was also able to see me. The last time I took my Frankie there was on November 4, 2021, I ran in hysterical, Frankie was having seizures, they immediately took him away from me, asked me if they could give him CPR and I said "yes". They did everything possible for him and kept me informed every step of the way. Frankie passed away that day from a tumor on his brain. The medical staff and administrative staff consoled me and kept me there as long as I needed them. That was not the end they took care of all arrangements for me. Now I have My Frankie's paw print I am so thankful to ALL OF THE STAFF. I would recommend Carolina Veterinary Specialists to anyone who has a pet. They will professionally and compassionately take care of your pets and your.

Nov 1st my dog was hit by a car going approx 50mph. I rushed her to CVS with full intentions of having to put her to sleep. She was in awful shape. But these wonderful people somehow worked magic. Honey was at CVS for 3 nights on oxygen/pain meds/and constant monitoring. I was tight on money and they never made me feel like I couldn’t save her due to this. They were willing to work with her regardless. While she was there I was able to get 3/4th of the bill covered and they let me work a payment option for the rest. They let me visit everyday at anytime convenient for me. They called with updates twice a day and I could call for more if I wanted. My daughter was obviously in shock and heartbroken when we visited our girl. When she saw our girl she shut down and wouldn’t speak. Our wonderful vet suggested she color Honey pictures. They let us decorate her ICU kennel which made my daughter proud and more confident. Compassionate is an understandment. It’s been 5 days since I thought our girl was gone, she’s now home and THRIVING. She does have brain damage, and we’ve got a long road ahead of us, but I’m thankful for that long road and the people that allowed us to take it.

Not a good experience. Tried to take my dog there after hours for an emergency and they kept putting me on hold and never picked up after 3 times of holding for 10 minutes at a time. Finally gave up and left. Will not go back.

While the receptionist was polite, the 1 star is because they refused to care for/ triage a dog that didn't belong to me (she belonged to a neighbor and they have medical reasons why they can't travel to remedy the issue themselves). The dog turned out to have a broken leg when I took her to a second veterinary business on the same day, minutes away from Carolina Vet Specialist. I just want people to be aware of the apparent policy that this location will not give care for an animal that you don't own. I was told if I claimed the dog as my own they could've proceeded with triage but I personally have a problem with that approach. An injured animal was brought into an animal hospital and refused care. Thus the 1 star. I don't know of anyone ever being willing to spend hundreds and potentially thousands of dollars to care for an animal for personal gain, and the liability excuse just doesn't resonate with me. The health and well-being of the animal should be first and foremost in priority. <----- PERIOD.

4 hours and $400 to bandage (not cast) my dog's leg and prescribe some antibiotics. $135 of that was the exam fee alone. That's 165% higher than my primary care vet. They did not ask if I wanted the option to fulfill the meds at a pharmacy, they just sold them to me at their inflated prices. Best of all, the bandage fell off the moment I got my dog home. I've had her successfully bandaged on my own for over 24 hours. The $400 vet's bandage lasted 24 minutes. So, here's my question: If you're so expensive, why aren't there more doctors? Why do I have to wait 4 hours AND pay $400 for basic care? This place is a scam.
