While pet helpers does do a lot to help the community, some individual employees could stand to be nicer to the people/animals who come in for help. A little while ago, I rescued a kitten from a parking lot, and I was desperately looking for a place to get the poor little guy checked out. He was starving, and covered in dirt, with bugs in his ears. I came to pet helpers, as it was the only place open at that particular time. As soon as I stepped out of my car, an employee snatched the (completely docile, only half conscious) kitten out of my arms, holding him by the scruff, insisting that he was 'trying to run into traffic' (it was Sunday and there weren't even any cars) and forced him into a box. He mewed in the box, as he was scared, suddenly being snatched from the first person to show him any warmth and kindness. They refused to give him back to me, at first. They said he had to remain in the box- even when he was indoors, and clearly panicking (whining, no scratching). I asked them if they could do a blood panel on him to check for any diseases. They said no. I asked if they could look him over and see if any of the bugs were fleas or anything dangerous. They said no. I asked if they could look him over to see if he had any injuries that I hadn't noticed. They said no. I asked if they could just tell me how old he might be. They said no. I asked if they could do anything to help the kitten, or at least give him back to me. They said no. I asked if they could do ANYTHING, I mean even feeding him food that is safe for emaciated animals, because I didn't even know where to start there, or even just giving him some water, because I had been struggling to get him to drink anything. They said no. I then asked if they could scan him for a chip. They agreed to that, and scanned him for a full minute, before conceding that he wasn't chipped. I then insisted on taking him to see someone else, as they made it clear they were not going to help him, no matter what. They then spent *10 minutes* explaining to me how the process of "surrendering a neglected pet" works, and trying to push me to fill out some form. I kept telling them I'd literally found him only a few hours earlier. Never mind the fact that this is the *fourth* rescue animal I've taken in! But they still kept insinuating quite rudely that I was lying, a bad pet owner, and that I should surrender the poor guy- even though they had just said that they weren't willing to do anything to help him. I ended up taking him to Banfield, and they were amazing. They treated him like an actual living being rather than a "dangerous creature" (actual words that the receptionist at Pet Helpers used!), and immediately did everything that they could to help the little guy. If you're looking to adopt an animal, sure, get one from here. But if you're looking for a place to help you rescue an animal, go somewhere else. (The pictures are of him on my lap a few days after I found him, and of him on a blanket a few days ago, happy to be a part of the family!)

We stopped in this week and adopted our boy Teddy. We were so happy with how helpful and informative the staff was. Everyone who helped us during our adoption process was very kind and explained everything very well. They were very knowledgeable about Teddy's habits and answered every question we had. You can really tell they all care about the animals and are invested in getting them into homes that will be a good fit for both the animal and the humans. I would definitely recommend Pet Helpers to anyone in the area looking to adopt!

I adopted Boo the day before Halloween and I am so lucky to have found him. He is a happy playful and snuggly kitten that is doing very well. Very thankful to pet helpers for all that they did and do! Here’s a cute picture of him before he jumps on me..

They don't advertise this on Facebook, it's just posted on their physical door, but you need an appointment to even enter the building... and you have to do the application for specific animals BEFORE you even meet the animals.

We adopted these two sweet sweet kittens from Pet Helpers, and couldn't have been more pleased with everything! The staff was all so nice, and they all were easy to talk to. Natalie was our adoption counselor, and you could really tell she knew and loved these animals. I'm confident that the team at Pet Helpers knows what they're doing. They not only made sure the cats were compatible, but they made sure we were trustworthy owners and explained everything we needed to do. We're so happy to have these cute kitties!

My daughter and I both were at pet helpers today and most of the staff was very helpful. She encountered a run and Wes someone there who was not very nice at first but then her attitude changed for the better. I was in a cat room and had held a cat that came up to me and wanted down so it meowed and I put it down. A young girl came in there and basically told me that the cat could not of came up to me first because it wouldn’t of acted like that if it had. I reiterated myself and told her it had came up to me and again she said the cat wouldn’t have done that if so. Basically she called me a liar. I have been a successful cat owner for at least 45 yrs. I feel like pet helpers needs to have a talk with the employees on how to be a little bit more courteous toward people who come there to adopt their pets. I understand that they are protective but both situations were uncalled for. I donate to pet helpers Monetarily into the store.

Great place! I didn't get the name of the woman that helped us but she was awesome! She was so patient and as nice as can be to me, my wife and my seven year old daughter. We left the place with our new kitten which has been a wonderful addition to our family and a much needed buddy for out other cat.

We adopted a dog from Pet Helpers about a month ago, and everything from the initial phone call where they responded to my e-mail regarding a specific dog, to the actual adoption process and follow-up heart-worm treatments went as smoothly as possible. Everyone was professional and friendly, and you could really tell that their main priority is the pets! Our new dog is perfect and we could not have asked for a more caring staff. Thanks Pet Helpers!

Went in today and got our new cat!! Morgan greeted me and my roommates at the door and let us know about COVID restrictions which was really good to know their ensuring everyone’s safety, including the animals. Blaine walked with me and my fam throughout the rooms and he was so so helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic with me about each cat! I knew we shared the same feelings about cats and their special personalities. He was very informative and honest in letting me know the health of the cats which I greatly appreciated because I had hoped to spend as little money as possible and that worked out thanks to him! I also got such a great overall feeling of the staff there, they clearly loved my new cat and were happy to see him go to a new home :). People here really do care about the animals, not just their job. PLEASE GO ADOPT!

Thank you to the awesome staff at Pet Helpers. I had been wanting to find the perfect dog for myself. Not too big and not too small. And not a designer breed. I was interested in two dogs and they recommended one more than the other since I have two cats. On March 27th 2021 I adopted Pearl. A shy beautiful girl that is a bulldog mix. She is the perfect for for me and in less than a week has already made lots of progress with her shy personality. Once again a huge thank you to the Pet Helpers Staff for making this a great experience for me as well as Pearl.

Extremely friendly and helpful people who very much care for the wellbeing of the pets they are hoping to find homes for! I adopted Loki (my new darling kitty) yesterday and had a call this morning asking me how our first night had gone. Which was wonderful and helped soothe a few of my worries. 12/10 would adopt again.

I have adopted three kitties over many years, beginning with the smaller shelter on Folly Road in 1997. Now I’m a volunteer in Cat Land. I know first hand what a phenomenal place this is. The staff truly cares about each and every animal who comes into the shelter, from rabbits, hamsters, cats, kitties, puppies, dogs and more. I am proud to be a volunteer and donor supporting Pet Helpers. Schedule a visit and find your FUR-EVER FRIEND!????
