Good service, great people. We have two large dogs and just moved back onto James Island. Our old vet was not taking on new clients so after some research we decided on James Island Vet Hospital. We needed to get one dog in sooner than the other and both times making appointments was very easy. They were able to accommodate us in a timely manner. The vet tech goes over prices before administering any treatment which is nice. I've definitely had a cheaper vet before but for location, services and availability I believe it is fairly priced. After both first visits, we are happy and will continue bringing our babies here!!

My husband took our cat, Juliet, for her annual shots and general check up while I was overseas. He found the staff and docs to be excellent in dealing with her and taking blood to assess her risks for certain illnesses. I received a detailed message explaining what the bloodwork had shown about her susceptibility for diabetes and UTIs. We were both very pleased with the treatment she received.

Should have emergency removed immediately!!!!!!!!!! I went up with my dog limp in my arms before 5 and was told that I would have to go to an emergency vet instead....this after banging on the door where the girl could see me through the window and my wife trying to call as well. Thank goodness my normal vet called and assisted. IF YOU ARE EVER IN DIRE NEED OF VET HELP IN AN ENERGENCY GO TO Paw med in west ahley. They are a true emergency vet. I've lived on the island my entire life and have never been as dissappontied with the conduct of an island business. Use Sea Island or Oceanside on James island they are way more profesional. I'd give zero stars if I could!

My office for 35 years and 7 lives however I do not recommend their current cremation company Legacy. Pet Rest by far is better to handle your loved pet.

They were very sweet. Low price. Friendly, caring curbside drop off/ pick up.

I was out of town and in the Mountains. Far from any facility. My dog was bitten by a snake. The Clinic refused to give me any advice as to what to do and told me to go find a local vet. Nothing was open. I have been a PT for 6 years. No one could take the time to discuss what to do over the phone. Wont be going back.

We are new to the area and the clinic was able to take my dog on as a new patient when others on the island couldn't/wouldn't. They are very responsive/able to schedule appointments quickly, and are very caring. They seem to be very thorough, though we have only been with them for a few months, so I don't have a long history with them yet. They call back when they say they will and called to check up on my dog after he had a procedure done at a specialist clinic, which I thought was very nice and (again) thorough. They are doing curb-side service, due to Covid, which I appreicate.

Let me preface this review by mentioning that my twin sister is a veterinarian in Charlotte and is always pro vet. We have been animal rescuers and never minded paying vet bills because we knew the value and what vets go through. However this practice has prices that are absolutely outrageous, higher than an emergency clinic, and their owners nickel and dime you so please beware. When our cat's hernia repair was over $600 my sister was absolutely dumbfounded by the way that they priced things in sneaky and duplicative ways. We also always felt like just a number to them and we were told we had to pay a drop off charge when I just needed to go get something for 10 minutes and come right back to get my pet. They often used the wrong pronoun, calling our dog "she" and their policies were aimed at money making, not the owners or animals.

I took my new puppy Finn in for his vaccinations and can't say enough kind words about everyone who helped me. COVID safety precautions like curbside appointments could have easily made the experience feel cold and impersonal but I found the exact opposite to be true. Everyone there clearly puts in the extra effort to ensure their customers all still receive that "personal touch" every step of the way, and you can feel their warm smiles right through their masks. 11/10 stars from me; cannot recommend them highly enough

They treat you and your pet like family. It doesn't get any better than that. Wonderful wonderful place. We're about to get a new puppy and will take him in for an introduction appointment. Highly recommend!

We have been bringing our animals to this vet for a couple of years now. We loved Dr. Chavis when she was practicing here. We were so sad to see her go. Once she left, prices started going up, customer service started slipping and today was the final straw. Last week I booked 2 appointments for 2 of my dogs. Keep in mind we have 4 pets that this vet has been treating we go to the vet a lot. And spend a ton of money here. I booked them through the portal and got an email confirming these appointments. So my husband showed up today for those confirmed appointments. A dog who needs an allergy shot because he’s miserable and a dog who has an ear infection. They told him they sent us another email saying those appointments didn’t work. Supposedly after we already got an email saying they were confirmed. I got no such email. No phone call. No follow up. Meanwhile I have 2 sick dogs that they will not see. When I called and complained and asked for the records there was no remorse, no apology. I am so heartbroken as my dogs loved the techs that we have worked with and they have been coming since they were puppies.

Thankyou. Recently I brought in a kitten found in the middle of Folly road. Unfortunately, she didn't survive. However, the care and respect you gave the kitten and me went above and beyond. Thank you for your help. Thank you for your heart.

Dr alexander is one of the rudest and most condescending vets I have ever interacted with. She clearly cares more about racking up charges than actually helping and again one of the rudest people I have ever met. Last time I spoke with her on the phone it took everything within in me to not start yelling at her because of how nasty she is. She was also very rough with my dogs and spent very little time talking with me or examining them. I believe there is another vet that works here and has met my dogs once and eas very kind and thorough. Learn how to treat people. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

We're the owners of Golf Cart Dog safety leash systems. Our fur babies health has always been a priority with us. 3 dogs, 3 very different personalities; loving, skittish and unpredictable. The staff at JIVH have always managed to make all 3 dogs feel comfortable each time we're there. A good bedside manner is just as important for dogs as it is for humans.

Friendly staff, conveniently located and easy to get an appointment with their new extended hours. It was my first time taking my dog there but I'll surely go back.

I have had nothing but good experiences at James Island Vet. My pup has been to several other clinics and they could not figure out what was wrong with him and always brushed me off. With some more testing, JIVH was able to diagnose and treat him so he is back to his healthy, happy self. The staff is always very caring and patient with me when I have questions. We won't be going anywhere else!

James Island saw my dog on a moments notice and were so very helpful! The doctor took time to answer my questions and make sure I understood all my options. The staff were so very friendly and took great care of my dog. I am so happy I found them and will continue to use them!

They were great. Service was on a timely fashion and the staff were very kind and courteous. I am most definitely glad that I chose them as a primary vet for my dog rocsi.

Brought my new puppy to the vet today. You would think the first puppy appointments are fun and exciting. But not this one. Dr. Alexander came on very condescending. She made me feel like everything I have done with my sweet pup was wrong. I felt as if none of my questions were answered thoroughly. Sorry my dog isn’t a $4000 golden doodle. We saved our pup from a guy who should not have had puppies. The appointment and charges were a little off to me... $2.50 for”medical waste disposal”? On the bright side, the vet tech was SO sweet. Won’t be going back here for he’s next round of shots. Good thing I asked for a print off of his shot records today (which she made me feel bad for not having in the first place. I didn’t know what shots my pup previously because the breeder was 84 and couldn’t remember). I’m doing the best with what I have and did the right thing to take him to the vet. Don’t waste your time here people. There are WAY better.
