We originally started working with NK Animal Hospital Hospital because they handled the first set of shots for our 'rescue'. We planned to eventually switch her to our usual vet, but we have been so happy at NKAH. The medical care, bedside manner and ease of scheduling... We would never consider anyone else!

We were seen in a timely manner and the staff was professional and courteous. Been going there for over 14 years

My dog was very sick on the afternoon of New Year's Eve. The staff was able to get my dog in and were so kind to him. I am always so pleased with all the staff at North Kingstown Animal Hospital. They ensure my dog Mitch gets the best care and we have been happy in their care for more than 10 years now!

To reiterate the SEVERAL other posts denouncing this veterinary hospital, do not, under ANY circumstance, bring your pet here. I love my pet, and could have only assumed that those who work in the line of veterinary practices love pets as well. My assumption was proven wrong the other day. A friend of mine brought her four-year-old dog to NK Animal Hospital to be spayed. She did not return home with her dog that night and our hearts are broken. This is all due to the negligent actions of the NK Animal Hospital Staff. Appropriate tests and procedures (i.e. blood work, testing for any allergies, administering appropriate anesthesia) seemed to not have been performed, as my friend's dog underwent cardiac arrest. How was such a routine procedure so terribly managed? It is clear that this was negligent malpractice. It seems staff members are not trained in areas of compassion, empathy, and kindness as well. After relaying this gut-wrenching information to the dog's owner, the staff at NK Animal Hospital inappropriately, jokingly mentioned that the "[dog] must have been enjoying her drugs a little too much!". The dog was dead and NK Animal Hospital staff joked around about it. After communicating to the owner that the dog was dead, the owner was hung up on, and left to her own discretion as to where to bring the animal for an autopsy. She received no guidance and/or professional recommendations from what is supposed to be a reputable animal hospital. How does the hiring process work here? Why should anyone who loves their pet trust this establishment to care for their pet? This staff is involved in veterinary practice for all the wrong reasons as they do not have any regard for their patient and what it means for a pet to be family. I am disgusted with the actions of NK Animal Hospital. I will tell every pet owner I encounter for the rest of my life to never bring their pet here. Each member of the staff involved in this incident should and will deal with the consequences.

These people are rude and don’t seem to genuinely care for pets. I’ve heard horror story’s about this place. I would advise to stay far away.

Dr. Springer is an incredible vet. She clearly cares about the animals and what she does. This vet is very high volume but she still gives my dog Mowgli so much personal attention and love.

stay far away!! Our daughters healthy 4 year old husky was brought here to get spayed(only because they were the only spot with availability) and she never woke up. Aside from the horrible staff being so careless and showing no remorse or taking any responsibility for their negligence- she never heard back from them with even a simple “I’m sorry” from anyone. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THESE PEOPLE!!! THEY NEED TO GET SHUT DOWN! THIS WILL NOT GET SWEPT UNDER THE RUG! PETS ARE FAMILY AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME A PET PASSES AWAY DUE TO THEIR OWN NEGLIGENCE!!

STAY FAR AWAY!!! Please, do not go to this practice if you care about your pets. Someone I know just lost their four year old dog here while getting spayed and I’ve unfortunately heard of and seen many others who have gone through similar experiences. The vet techs also JOKED about the dog being unresponsive after she passed away. They are unprofessional and don’t care. Please save your pets and go somewhere else.

My sisters dog was brought here and never made it home after a ROUTINE SURGERY. (Spay) our sweet girl was killed and the workers here showed no compassion or took any responsibility. She was a healthy 4 year old dog with no pre existing conditions. I wish we did our research before bringing her to this place. After posting about what happened on Facebook- so many people reached out with different horror stories they went through here as well. This is one of many deaths. This place needs to be shut down and the girls working here should NOT be in the animal field they are AWFUL people who made jokes to my sister regarding her dog not being responsive. Who jokes around about a pets death? They could care less about your dogs health. If you love your dog, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE.

Horrible customer service and communication! At first it seems like they were great, but then as time went on they don't review notes that the vet updates. Constantly getting called to verify the correct dosage of prescriptions when we ask for refills and its always the old dosage. Then my dog has a prescription that actually has to be filled by a normal pharmacy. The refill was requested on a Monday morning and I go in Monday late afternoon and no prescription. So Wednesday comes around and they call us to ask us the dosage for the prescription even though the vet left it in their notes. I go in late Wednesday afternoon no prescription. I call the vet and they said they sent it that morning and to have the pharmacy double check. 10 minutes later they call my wife telling her they just sent it over. They lied to me on the phone. Meanwhile my dog has gone 4 days without this "crucial" meds they deem necessary. At first the Vet requests a ECG every few months and the vet doesn't review previous ECG versions so they dont know if her heart is getting worst or not. But we got switched vets internally so we don't deal with that particular one anymore. Everytime we have an appointment for our dog and I'm waiting anywhere between 15-40 minutes pass her appointment time just to be seen. I show up early still wait, show up on time, still wait. Very inconvenient since my wife and I both work and have to take time off to bring the dog in. Bottom line is the vet techs and front office staff do not read the doctor's notes and the communication in the office sucks and they lie to you. They keep making excuses to make appointments to revalidate her heart through an ECG. Those aren't cheap. And they originally told us our dog had a few months to live, here we are 2 years later. We would switch vets but, changing over her meds and doctore when we do know our dog is slowly dying is pointless. If what you want then by all means pick this office. If I had to do it all over again we would not.

NK Animal Hospital provides excellent care to my two elderly cats. They were quick and responsive when my cat recently needed urgent care. They also work very hard to keep everyone safe from Covid-19. Thanks NKAH for always providing professional and compassionate care!

Yes, it is me, true name. I never lie. Below is my 100% true experience. I will never visit this place again and recommend my friends avoid this place. My dog died because of kidney failure. Before she passed away, she had a lot of symptoms of kidney problems. I am not a vet. But when a vet sees some symptoms, they should know. Otherwise, why do we need vet?? We brought my dog to North Kingstown Animal Hospital for wellness check. The doctor perfectly missed ALL the kidney symptoms and did not give her right treatment. The funny thing is that the doctor told me that Ruby was very healthy when I last took her to the hospital after seeing some bad symptoms. COVID TIME ALERT: I understand that due to COVID, hospitals make adjustments to minimize people’s visit inside. Hey, did you really give a good wellness exam to my dog after we paid several hundred? It takes only *five* minutes for them to take Ruby inside and told me she was in a healthy condition!! Then later she just died. Funny place, profit-driven, does not care your pets at all. [Updates] Regarding their reply, I have something to say. They have been SO BUSY to assign a time to see pets. Usually they ask you to wait until at least one month later. Then illness cannot wait. Additionally, Ruby transferred to a new animal hospital until very recently!!! After I cannot get an appropriate visit time from this place. I am so grateful I transferred. Otherwise I can never hear the real condition about my pet before she left me!

As a mother to several four legged babies - I count NKAH as valuable as my pediatrician was for my daughters. The support and service during the pandemic only highlights their commitment to animals - always. Thank you for being a trusted caregiver for my pups.

Dr Field by far is one of the best veterinarians I have come across in a VERY long time. I Norman (13 years old now) was acting different, losing weight, loss of balance, peeing blood and Dr Field took her time with me and diagnosed me with hyperthyroidism and immediately started me on meds. Few days later I had a stroke and had to be rushed to Ocesn State(they were very sympathetic and helpful). My mom called Dr Field that Monday and she once again assured her I am not suffering and will be feeling better soon hopefully with some meds. I AM DOING GREAT! My point to this long story is: she took her time with me and treated me like her own, and didnt give up on me. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH DR FIELD! You are truly a blessing! Love and Forever Grateful, Norman and his humans

I am very happy that we found North Kingston Animal hospital. My family and I can’t begin to explain the care and compassion this office has, not only for the animals, but people too. I will not be taking my pets anywhere else.

During this COVID time we are already so stressed and then we have to take our pet to the vet and hand them off to the technician because we cannot go in with them. I had to write this because my 17 year old cat became ill and I had to take her to the vet. I can’t tell you what a wonderful experience I had ..the entire staff are SO KIND AND HAPPY! I can’t tell you how good it felt to give my pet to a nice , kind person (there have been way too many angry and mean people during this time) that relaxed me so much! EVERY staff member is so sweet and helpful, and I am sure it is VERY HARD for them during this time and the doctors are great..always there to answer questions! My husband came home the other day and couldn’t believe how helpful the girl on the phone was when he was trying to get 7year old information on our dog ....I guess this is why we have been here for over15 years...thank you for your wonderful, selfless work

Thank you North Kingstown Animal Hospital for the excellent care my dog Nina has received! Nina had a successful surgery for a torn ACl. Thanks to the vigilance of Dr. Springer, a cancerous tumor was discovered during Nina's office visit, so the tumor was removed during the surgery. I credit Dr. Springer with saving my dog's life! All the technicians are wonderful. We are very grateful!

The care of my 2 older dogs was complicated and Dr springer and Dr holmes were very professional and very caring, unfortunately they had to be put down within a week of each other, but the staff was very professional and very considerate of my wishes, it's a 45 minute drive for me but well worth it, I will always bring my dogs here for care, they were outstanding on every visit

I have been bringing all of my dogs and birds to NKAH for the past 40+ years. From the front desk employees to the vets, and assistants, they have all been so sincerely caring during the treatment of all of my animals. I feel assured that my pets are receiving the best medical care in this state.

I have been with North Kingstown Animal Hospital for years and love the staff. They are always willing to give advice, if you call with any questions. I like that they ask you, if you want them to test your pet for anything and if you say no not this time, they don't make you feel like you should be doing this now. They are not pushy with their treatments or purchasing of items because everyone is on their own financial road. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. I know a few people that also go there, and they've never had a complaint about them.

North Kingstown Animal Hospital is everything you could ever hope for in a vet. First they saved my dogs life and just for that they will always hold a special place in my heart. Second they are super friendly and are happy to be of service to your fur babies. Every time I look at the bill after my visit I am always presently surprised. Just a super animal hospital. Thank you NKAH!

We have used North Kingstown Animal Hospital for over 20 years. Always a pleasure. We called for our Mastiff the other day for a UTI and they were able to squeeze us in the same day. The next day we received a follow up call to see how our Mastiff was and if there were any problems with the medications. You can't beat their service and love of animals. Thank you!

Dr. Mandarini has been our vet for over 18 years. He’s wonderful, kind and caring. However, this business is owned/managed by a greedy, money-hungry woman, Lorie. She lost our very lucrative business by adding a $5 finance charge to a bill of $25 that was one month old. I was there practically every month buying prescription dog food. Unfortunately my pet has had several surgeries over the years. ALL treatments/surgeries were paid for in cash upon pick up. This disagreement began after bringing my dog for yet another surgery last week. I paid ($800?) picked her up, bought $200 worth of dog food and left. When I returned for follow up on the surgery the next week, I was told I had an outstanding bill from December of $25 with a $5 finance fee. After leaving me outside in freezing cold, Lorie came out with my credit card, charged me the $5 finance fee and said she couldn’t waive the charge without speaking to her bookkeeper. I said, “aren’t you the business owner?” And she said yes and walked away. Ridiculous. Terrible treatment for a cash paying customer for over 18 years. Their veterinarian turn over rate should’ve also indicated a problem with her lack of management skills. Dr. Mandarini is the only long standing employee. Glad you collected your $5 lorie. You’ve lost a lot more than a patient. You’ve lost a future of much more business and money. I would welcome her RESPONSE PUBLICLY after 18 years of payments. However, it appears that she only responds to positive reviews. STAY AWAY....

I took my cat to be evaluated for a possible urinary tract issue. The vet stuck a needle in his bladder without telling me before hand! And then she proceeded to tell me that the urinalysis would not tell them anything because the urine would be diluted due to his pre-existing kidney condition. I'm not going back to this clinic!

We have a 16 year old that North Kingstown Animal Hospital has taken care of for years! She is mouthy! They love her. I love how they put me at ease and her acceptance of them. It is as though she knows they are her medical team. I do not know how. Recently lots of changes in her health. I have had so many new things to do for her and they have been so patient with my constant calls as we have never had to do so much for her before. They are bending over backwards sideways for so many. Our little girl appears to be responding favorably. They are good to stay in touch and re-educate us even though so busy. We right now do not know what normal looks like for her and the changes whether all of them are for the good so thankful they are working with us to reassure us and see us through this extra managed care for her. They are a real answer to prayer for us.
