VCA Povar Animal Hospital East Providence, Rhode Island

Absolutely amazing. I desperately needed a Vet appointment and I called every vet in the area and no one could fit me in for weeks however VCA Povar had an opening and saw us the same day. Everyone in the office was wonderful from the front desk attendant to the vet tech and Dr. Goslin. My Uber driver got lost on the way and I was unfortunately late for my appointment and they still saw me right away when I arrived. It was such a positive experience for both myself and my pet. They were very gentle and loving with my cat and gave me all the information about pricing and got me set up for the Care club. Highly recommend, I will be back. Thank you again.

So grateful for this office. My sweet cat has cancer and VCA Povar has gone above and beyond from diagnosis to referrals, and treatment of his symptoms. They did not make me feel guilty for choosing palliative care. They were supportive when I was emotional and have gone above and beyond with checking in and responding to all of my anxious inquiries. Dr Worhunsky is who I have worked with most often, and she is absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, professional, gentle and kind. Grateful for all the staff through this really terrible process

Everyone here was extremely friendly and helpful. I called to make an appointment at 8AM and they saw me an hour and a half later. Very knowledgeable people here and I would reccomend this place to anyone that has a sick pet they need seen. Edit: Had to change my review to a two star after calling them for a split nail, none stop bleeding and can’t accommodate my dog. Very disappointed.

I Left my first and last appt from VCA hospital Tuesday July 7th. I’m extremely disappointed in the staff and how they handled Hucks first appt. When I booked My appt this morning I made it clear that Huck is anxious due to the fireworks and how he developed a UTI due to the loud sounds. When the tech called and asked me if I could bring Huck in for his first time visit , I made sure to express that the thunder wont help his case. I brought Huck in for his appt and for whatever reason The door was locked as it was pouring rain and thunder storming outside. That really didn’t help my case since I expressed that this was a 75 lbs dog who was EXTREMELY ANXIOUS. Everything was fine until the door was locked, then the tech came out and honestly didn’t help the Situation other than just stare at me and hold the door open. To make matters worse, my dog managed to slip out of his harness and you would think someone would atleast suggest some type of help but unfortunately I had FOUR people starring at me as I was wrestling my dog to put the harness back on. What should of been done was atleast having someone blocking the road just in case my dog would get hit by a car. No one thought to think on their two feet - other than the random stranger who tried to help me and my dog. The random guy threw my purse to me while everyone was fearful of getting bit by my dog (who doesn’t bit.) To make this case even worse, the tech called me as I was leaving and mentioned that VCA Povar has never dealt with something like this and Huck was the first incident - that is most definitely not what you say to appease the situation. Make sure you hire people who actually love animals because it was clearly evident that the Tech/workers had no common sense. Also - to the guy who brought out an umbrella, what a genius move to do when my dog was having an anxiety attack. Horrible horrible experience and we will stick with Ferguson where this has never happened. Was looking forward to VCA povar.

I had never been here before today, but they treated me like a long-standing client. I came to Povar today to put my sweet cat to sleep. Not only were they professional and following strict covid safety protocol, but they couldn't have been more kind and comforting. From the initial scheduling phone call all the way to my car on the way out, I was taken care of with such grace and true compassion. The process itself, as unpleasant as it is, was made as easy and painless as possible for both me and my sweet kitty. Even when my credit card was declined, they were willing to work with me to figure out a plan. The entire visit was over within an hour and one of the techs even helped me carry everything to my car. I have never has such a wonderful experience at a vets office, let alone in this scenario. I highly recommend this office for the quality of staff alone.

This place sucks never has an appointment all they want is money the worst place ever

I took Rusty a little Yorkie to the VCA povar Animal Hospital last week and I thought they were extremely professional from the receptionist who answers the phone to the technician that comes out and gets Rusty to the conversations I had with the vet discussing what they were going to be doing with him that day and the costs I appreciate all the services you've given to him that day and the communication during that visit... however the bill was very high and I'm not going to enjoy doing this but I will be shopping around for a better deal next time

Had to bring a friends pooch there for him. Everyone here was great..very patient...very polite. Took care of Daisy and recommended she go to animal hospital which I did and Daisy is doing great!! I highly recommend this place for your pets needs. Thank you again!

Just doing my due diligence here and leaving a good google review :) I know it made a difference for me when looking for a new Vet for my dog. (Belgian Tervuren). All my experiences here have been great. Because of covid, I've had to hand my dog over to the staff outside instead of going in with him. I thought this would be a problem for my very attached dog but turns out it's harder for me than him. He always comes back relaxed and I can tell they've taken good care of him and been gentle. Everyone who has helped me is incredibly kind and patient. The same goes for Adam at the front desk whose name I remember because it is the same as mine. The doctor (I can't remember her name) always calls me and takes the time to explain exactly what is going on and what the next steps are. Definitely bring your pet here!

Love this place. I take my pups to the East Providence location and I have been happy taking my girls there for almost three yrs now. Vets are great and will even email back and forth with you with questions, treatments or concerns for your furry friends. Clean, always smells GREAT, and the front reception staff are very friendly and pleasant. Will continue going here for years to come.

They've been our vet office exclusively for 3 years, and everyone here is wonderful! The front office staff, techs, and vets are friendly, compassionate, and great about explaining the costs and options for care. We also signed up for the CareClub, and it's already offset some big costs for our senior kitties. Well worth the monthly expense.

Awesome first impression of the doctor was unbelievable great. She was attentive to the need of my pet . She explained the reason why things might be contributing factor related to my dog allergies.. I just think they are great. I recommend them strongly for all your dog needs.

We love this animal hospital! We have a 1yo bluenose pitbull puppy and she has gone for several checkups and a few sick appointments here already. The staff is ALWAYS kind and helpful, often going the extra mile. I always get a call or a text from someone to check in on our furbaby the day after an appointment, which is really sweet. The receptionists, vet techs, and doctors are always professional and reassuring; I'm an anxious first-time dog mom and they have been instrumental in keeping our pup happy and healthy without making us feel like we're totally screwing our dog up. She doesn't even mind going in because she knows she's going to get pets and lots of peanut butter to hold still :)

My first visit to this facility was to, unfortunately, to euthanize my Dachshund. My first interaction was by phone and the person I spoke with seemed genuinely empathetic and made an appointment with me for the following day. I arrived for my appointment an hour earlier than expected and called from the parking lot letting them know my dog seemed to be suffering and asked if I could be seen at that time. After a brief hold the Dr. brought me right in and was waiting for me at the door. My Dog had actually passed while with me in my car... I dealt with 2 staff members during my visit and both were extremely sensitive and accommodating. Above all; They were absolute professionals as they gave me and my best friend the right amount care, space and respect... Right down to the smallest detail. I could not have asked for more... Thank you to this wonderful staff!!

The staff there have been so friendly and welcoming from my very first visit. And after boarding a couple times plus the 3 vet visits I’ve had, they are on a first name basis with my cat. It makes me way more comfortable boarding here and letting them take care of my pet knowing they actually care!

Love this place. Dr. Gosslin is incredible I drive 30 mins after moving to stay with this vet!!

Quick and fast service. Its a vet, yes they are expensive, but our fur babies love the team at VAC Povar. We don't use anyone else.

They were able to see my cat when he was having an emergency and my regular vet couldn't see him. He is doing much better now thanks to the staff's care!

They are awful. Bad advice on complicated surgeries. My old dog (now deceased) broke his elbow and they should have recommended taking the leg ($800), instead they referred to some affiliate (Bay State Vet Services, Swansea, MA) that charged thousands for a complicated experimental surgery they knew wouldn't work. Also, they charged outrageous prices for basic animal care back then. I found a reputable vet. Go to East Bay Animal Hospital -- far better.

Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. A little expensive compared to other vets but your pet will get the best care possible. My dog loves coming here!

I have been going to Povar Animal Hospital since 1957, when I got my first puppy. I would give them a top rating until they sold out to VCA. The vets are nice, and I assume competent, but I never get the same vet twice. They don't know my dog. The main reason I am leaving though, is the outrageous prices. The price for a tooth cleaning is more than double what it was only 2 years ago. Other vets--and I called four -- charge half to 1/4 as much. I know these other vets because I do a lot of pet-sitting, and they are just as competent, if not more so, than these young vets at Povar's. Who can afford over $2,000.00 for a procedure like that? Who would pay it? Shop around. I'm glad I did!!!

Service is great but VERY expensive. It would be nice to know how much everything will cost in the end, before hand. The meds are way overpriced. More expensive to take my dog to the Dr. than it cost me to go.

Very knowledgeable staff and always make you feel comfortable and informed. My 2 senior dogs dont mind coming here and the staff truly cares!
