I had obtained a new puppy shortly after my 16 year old dog had died. I had always brought my previous dog to Petco for her grooming needs most of her life. She never seemed happy to go. She would respond like she was going to the vet. Scared, tremulous. I just figured that was the normal response to the situation and she would just have to deal much like when she needed to go to a vet. One day I noticed this grooming shop within walking distance from my home when I was walking my new puppy. I figured I would check out the reviews on-line. I was pleasantly surprised to see how good the reviews were because the shop looks not much bigger than a large shed and was on a side street that is surrounded by 3 family homes. I figured I would give this place a chance. One of the reviews that stuck out most was the comment about the dogs not being caged and the dog not being there for many hours. I called and left a message. I received a call back in a few days from the owner/groomer, Kim. I was surprised that she took that long to respond but at the same time I viewed the situation as “good for her for promoting a healthy work life balance. (Positive view) A well rested happy groomer will make a happy pup. Anyway, I booked the first appt which was a few weeks out. (Hard to wait in a society of corporate competition and instant gratification) I was glad I decided to be patient. It was so worth it for the overall well being of my pup. I had never experienced a time in the past where my dog seemed excited to go to the groomer. This has been a very pleasant new experience. My dog gets completely groomed in about 1.5 hours. He looks amazing each time and most importantly, he is happy. I had got use to dropping off and picking up 4 hours later for grooming appts in the past and my dog acted as if I had done a horrible thing to him just like when I brought him to a vet. I was happy to see Kim has a casual relaxed atmosphere for my pup to sniff out the environment. No other dogs are there, except maybe I, at an occasional time when I drop him off. I now have another new pup and, of course I bring her there now too. I think Kim is in high demand and where she is only 1, you must not expect to get in for appointments right away. She is worth the wait and will schedule you ahead for your next appt so you can stay on a consistent schedule. She does a great job and has competitive rates. This review represents a year past of her grooming my sweet pups. Thank you Kim for providing an alternative environment and grooming experience that focuses on promoting happiness and decreasing anxieties, for our furry best friends. ????

Kim is very knowledgeable and thoughtful. I took a pair of emotionally traumatized rescues to her for their first grooming visit. She and her associate were patient and kind. We were very impressed!

I called a week ago and left a voicemail and haven't gotten a call back yet. I messaged them on Facebook a few days later and no reply on that either. They were the highest rated so I wanted to do business with them but now I will not.

Kim is the best! I took Winnie, my 12 lbs shih tzu/chihuahua mix to her after a very bad experience at PetCo. Kim explained everything and took very good care of her and her hair comes out amazing every time. My husband and I moved an hour away and we drive to her every time.

This is the best place I’ve been to and I’ve been to about 6 different grooming salons, Kim does quick and great work, I’ve only been a few times but already know this will be my pups forever salon! My pup comes out always happy, energetic, and handsome!

The owner is great at handling my excited dogs. They always leave there with dull nails, a shiny coat, wagging tails, and smelling great. Thanks Shaggy Chic!

I've been going here for 4 years now, since 2013, and I love it! Kim does a terrific job! And my dog loves her! I had tried two other groomers previously, who I disliked. One was The Grooming Post on Rte. 1, the other was Off the Leash in N. Attleboro. At The Grooming Post, which I chose because it had great reviews, I heard the workers laughing in the back about charging people for things they didn't do, like expressing the anal glands! They obviously didn't hear me come in! I was shocked! Then they brought out my new dog. I didn't even recognize him! He is a Cavachon, which I've only seen with a standard puppy cut, which he had when he arrived. What I got was the "all out" Bichon cut. I literally thought they brought out the wrong dog! I paid and left, hating his cut for weeks until it grew out. I DID finally call to tell them that I hated it, but left it at that. The rest of the year I went to Off the Leash, which my cousin recommended. Each time I brought him, he was more upset about going in. Not a good sign. They also never allowed me into the grooming area, another bad sign, I now know. I begged them not to put him in a cage. He was a rescue from an Amish puppy mill and spent 6 months in a cage in an Amish barn before being given to a rescue. Flash backs? They said I would have to pay for an entire day of doggie day care, in addition to his grooming fee, if I wanted him out of the cage! Outrageous! But, I thought I had no choice! But, I couldn't afford the extra fee! It took them a minimum of three hours, usually 4 to complete his grooming. I finally forced my way into the grooming area. A miserable, small, enclosed room with dogs in stacked cages. It reminded me of a storage closet, seriously! Now, I'm REALLY unhappy. Time to start looking for a new place. (BTW, my cousin no longer takes her dog there, either. Nor does she recommend it. And that had nothing to do with my experience! While leaving Attleboro City Hall, I saw a cute little yellow building with a dog sign! I drove by. It's name was Shaggy Chic. I looked for reviews on line, and liked what I read. I went to their website, and liked what I saw. AND they didn't cage the dogs! WOW! So I brought my dog there and have been going there ever since. Since going to Shaggy Chic, my dog has had NO EAR INFECTIONS! I get complimented on his cut all the time. I was even asked by another groomer where I brought him. She said she loved his cut! WOW, compliments from a competitor! AND, since going to Kim, my vet comments every time about how clean his ears are! Kim is a hidden gem! She is the owner/groomer. My dog loves her. No more cringing and having to be carried inside to be groomed! AND it almost never takes longer than an hour and a half! I HIGHLY recommend Kim. My dog is my only "child" and means the world to me, so I don't compliment lightly! My best friend now brings her dog there, too. She is, also, very happy with Kim. Give her I try. I think you'll be impressed, and, more importantly, your dog will be well groomed and happy!
