January 2020 - New edit - this practice is so poorly managed and unprofessional. My dog was due for rabies shot over a month ago. I only found out b/c I tried to make a grooming appointment. When I called the office to inquire, the tech …

Our dog was limping so we made an appointment at any veterinarian we could find. This wasn’t his normal vet. Appointments are curbside, so we weren’t allowed to go in, which wasn’t a big deal, but wasn’t great. The vet calls us in the middle of the appointment to give us an update, but his bedside manner was probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. He starts talking about the possibility of cancer or hip dysplasia. He also says that our dog is fighting him, so we ask if one of us can go inside to comfort him and the vet says “you are aware there is a new variant of Covid right?”. I have never been talked down to like this. Honestly I wish my dog got a good bite in there.

We will be switching offices! We had an emergency with our English bulldog and her regular vet could not take her. York Road Veterinary Hospital was able to get her same day. They were professional and extremely nice and caring. I thank them so much for making sure my girl was okay!

My super reactive dog was a major pain. They were amazing with her. Have also taken my kittens. They are great and patient even with the most difficult dog.

Horrible communication skills. I made an appointment for my dog to get neutered in the beginning of July for the end of August. I called and got it all set up for a check up beforehand and then the actual date. After this one phone called I received about 8 different phone calls with different information. (That my dog didn't need an appointment before his neuter, and then he did again and then he didn't. Following this, no one was on the same page for when his actual neutering date was and I received multiple calls on confusion about the date) Now, come to his actual neutering and they did an absolutely horrible job. I have had dogs my whole life, high energy dogs, and have never had a problem with neutering or spaying. We have kept my dog calm and inside doing little to no activity. My husband is doing everything from home right now so he is always watching our dog. The sutures they put in have opened 2 different times. They continue to have horrible communication skills by telling me originally that they stapled my dog. Then they changed the story and told me they sutured him. When (whatever they put in) split open they then told me they redid all the suturing and glued it and gave him antibiotics. I checked the incision the next day and a part of it was still open. So I took him back and they would then stapled it. Following this, we talked to the supervisor for this poor communication and response and they refused to refund us for the last visit. The supervisor said she checked the chart and they actually didn't suture or do anything except give antibiotics. Which is a lie considering I have 2 witnesses that heard the nurse tell me my dog was sutured and glue the 2nd time we went. I also have pictures proving that is what they did. Again, horrible communication between the staff. They are absolutely incompetent and cannot keep up to date with what is going on in their facility. ** I have talked to the supervisor and voiced my concerns. She did apologize and get me and told me exactly what happened to my dog each visit.

When our Corgi got his foot sliced at the groomer, York Road Vet was able to get us in quickly when our regular vet could not. Not only did they save us an expensive and lengthy trip to VSEC, but the doctors were excellent, and stitched our baby up in no time. Very grateful for their emergency services.

First of all I never give 5 star ratings. There is always room for improvement. I would have given 4 stars except for the curbside thing they have going on. I want to speak to the vet face to face and be there with my scared pet. If they get rid of that I will keep going. If not I will find somewhere else.

I liked this veterinarian. It’s close to home and worked with me to provide a humane way to keep my cat from inadvertently hurting some of my elderly family members. I’ll be back for sure

They truly are not the most professional or best vet hospital to visit. I friend mine had a interview a while ago with this hospital and the son and daughter who also worked there laughed at her during her interview with the mother. They truly lack professionalism and quality all around. Do go here, absolute trash.

Wish I could give 0 stars. The two female nurses were not sympathetic and very rude. The male nurse and doctor was more understandable and very nice so I give them a star for that. But the two female nurse were very rude never will I go here again.

The Vet and technicians were very thorough and caring. I would highly recommend this vet to any pet owner. The attention to detail was so nice to see within the whole facility!

Very sympathetic to losing a rescue I had brought to them. Very good care and concern for my dog. Dr. Durphey was very empathetic to the situation. Couldn't asked for better service.

They passed my pet’s health check and gave vaccines he already had. No one called to verify anything. I took him to another Vet a week later and the poor thing was suffering in pain. They are all about the money they do not care about the animals. Consult at your own risk.

Scarlette injured her leg and needed weekly wraps to be done on her leg. The Techs who come to your car have all been super nice, no long wait times and truly stick to your appointment time. Scarlette has always hated going to the Vet. She has changed since going to York Animal Hosp. She doesn’t mind which tells me they treat her very well and loving since I can’t be with her! The Vet is nice. I’ve o ly spoken to her once. I have 3 other dogs at home at this will be our Vet for now on. Thank you. Lisa

We took our Great Dane Stella here to get spayed and get her shots. Dana and her staff were phenomenal and patient with our nervous rescue dog. We felt comfortable and confident that our fur baby was in the best of hands and they exceeded our expectations! I would definitely recommend!

We dropped our 5 month old kitten to get neutered, who was completely healthy and seen by the staff at this vet 4 times in the last 2 months, each time reassuring us he was healthy and even recommending we get him neutered. We got a call maybe an hour later that our kitten was dead. The vet was unable to give us any answers as to what went wrong. I fully believe malpractice was absolutely involved, and would HIGHLY recommend you take your pets elsewhere. DO NOT trust this hospital!

Waited 4 hours to get an evaluation. Told the vet that my pet was dehydrated and they eventually did a blood test and found out exactly what I told them. Never did give an IV. Just sent us to an emergency hospital.

Dr. Durphy has cared for our Bull Mastiff (Shiloh) since she was a puppy. We had to say goodbye to her recently after nearly 10 years. Dr. Durphy helped us make the difficult decision and provided emotional support throughout the process.
