The only reason I give it 2 stars is because the quality of work the actual doctor did was solid. My dog needed 6 stitches after a laceration he got running outside. This place was an hour away from us which we drove to in a snow storm. They told us to call when we were outside and said they would be right out. We waited an hour in the car. We were told over the phone before arriving (since I am 8 months pregnant and we were driving through a storm) that we would have the option for board our dog overnight for 90 dollars and that we were looking at 800-1200 total for sedation stitches and boarding. We received an estimate that said 2300-2800 and the boarding was 185. Obviously we would pay whatever for our dog so we moved on. The next day our dog hit his leg and broke half of the stitches. Frantic we called them back and asked if we could send a picture over to tell us if we need to come back in and get it re stitched. Again willing to drive over an hour and pay more money to figure it out. LAUREN the vet tech who answered us back after another hour of waiting suggested "put an e collar on him". Completely neglecting to answer the question. So we asked her again and say okay we can put an e collar on him but that isnt going to fix the issue so do we need to bring him in or is this going to be okay? She suggested to then find somewhere else closer to us that would take a look since they were far away and in mid sentence trying to explain to her there arent many place around us and our experience thus with them has been subpar in turn making us nervous to drive that far.....she HUNG UP. I mean honestly customer service and professionalism has gone out the door these days. I guess all you can do is leave a review and hope no one else goes through it.

I have been bringing my pets here for years. The staff and doctors have always been very caring and kind with my pet and this visit was the same. They explained things about his health and condition and were gentle with him during his exam. The following week the doctor called to discuss test results from bloodwork and gave a very comprehensive overview of my pets' condition and suggested follow up in a few months for monitoring him. They also followed COVID protocols. They all wore masks as well as requiring visitors to wear them. They currently allow one person to come inside with their pet and you have to call them when you arrive and wait for them to let you know when you can enter. This keeps the amount of people indoors to a minimum. Everything was clean and everyone was very professional.

All I needed was a new oral syringe because my vet is closed for the weekend and they wouldn’t help me.

Recently lost my best friend Cersei and while completely devastated I feel I have to give Old Marple a very heartfelt thank you for not being like most vets. They do not take advantage of you like some other vets do by jacking up the price when your desperate. We chose to have our girl cremated and just brought her home in a beautiful box with nameplate. The girls on the phone were very kind and understanding and the hand written sympathy card really touched our hearts. Thanks again Old Marple Veterinarian Hospital ❤️

I brought my dog Lex here when she was having seizures. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Wait time was minimal and all of my questions were answered. I was so impressed that I decided to switch providers from my old place and bring her here for regular vet care. My dog has separation anxiety and hates being away from my side for even a few minutes but when I picked her up last time, she followed the vet back inside! I know my dog is in good hands here.

This hospital was a decent place to take my two dogs. The one thing I did not like is the fact that every time I took one of my dogs there, the bill was always over $500, or they tried to push you over that mark. I have two dogs so you can see how that could become quickly problematic. One of my dogs does not like his nails cut and a lot of times, the $10 retailers like pet smart have trouble cutting his nails, so I was paying this hospital $30 because they could do it. I didn't mind paying them three times the cost of everyone else because they actually got the job done very well. The last time I had his nails cut, they gave me a sedative and said it would make it easier for them if I sedate him before bringing him in. I called them on 10/30/2021, to schedule a nail trim only to be told that they no longer do nail trims unless it is during a doctor appointment. Why is that? So they can charge $99 for the doctor visit PLUS the $30 extra for a trim. So, basically $130 to get the dogs nails trimmed. Price gouging alive and well just like is mentioned in all the other reviews. Well, they just lost all of my business for both dogs, including annual shots and everything else that may come up. There are other places that are not money grubs and the service here is not soooo great that they should be acting like the money grubs they are. Buyer beware...this is exactly the kind of greedy corporate businesses -bad used car salesman type - that everyone should avoid.

Thank you so much, Dr. Patel and Dr. Lewis for knowing exactly what to do to help my cat Jasmine, when she had a digestive obstruction. Around noon on October 1, I realized that normally very peppy Jasmine had not come downstairs for breakfast nor for dinner the night before. Instead, she was quietly resting on the bed and shivering. Unfortunately my vet was not available. VCA Springfield was able to take Jasmine right away, and very prompt x-rays showed a lower intestine obstruction. Dr. Patel prescribed an IV, with several meds to assist the problem. Of course I was very worried that night as Jasmine stayed there, especially since on-line sources said that risky surgery was a likely outcome. Very thankfully the IV treatment prescribed by Dr. Patel worked to solve the problem! Jasmine came back home at noon on October 2, back to her peppy and endearing self! I also thank Dr. Patel and staff for letting me visit Jasmine while she was at VCA; I found Dr. Patel to be very caring of Jasmine and personable.

The best vet that I have been able to find for my 5 dogs !!!! They have appointments available in the same week, the treatment of the staff and the vet have been excellent, and I have never felt discriminated against because of the breed of my pit bulls.

VCA saved this beauty’s life a few weeks ago. My cat had gotten his lower jaw stuck between his collar and his neck. When I found him, he was unconscious, his mouth was purple and his eyes were wide open. I thought he died. When he started responding after I removed the collar, I called around to several pet hospitals, but they were either at capacity, or they didn’t take emergencies. With a google search I found VCA and they told me to bring him in. When they took him from me, he was in bad shape but conscious, and struggling to breath. Apparently you get fluid in your lungs when you’re without oxygen for a few minutes. They kept him overnight and called me a few times in his 20 hours there. They said it could go either way, they really weren’t even sure he would make it through the night. So they checked on him every two hours, gave him fluids, and had him in a cage with oxygen. I didn’t sleep well, thinking that even if he made it through the night, I’d still have to make a tough decision the next day if he was suffering. They happily called me in the morning to say he responded very well to the oxygen and that he was purring and loving all the attention from the staff. They told me to come get him, less than 24 hours after I dropped him off. The staff was kind and caring and kept in touch with me even after I picked him up. I would trust them with any pet situation and now I know just where to go in any pet emergency. They’ve earned a customer for life!

I brought my dog, a German Shepard, here to have him treated for yeast in his ears and wow... I have never seen more unprofessional behavior by a vet or a vet technician before in my life. First, I'm not sure where the vet tech got her training but she clearly had no clue how to handle a large dog. She starts by immediately putting my dog in basically a choke hold so that the vet can check him over and I can immediately see that my dog is in distress, probably because he cannot breathe correctly. Then the vet claims that my dog is bearing teeth and will require a muzzle. Well, perhaps if you weren't choking him then he wouldn't appear to be bearing teeth, which he wasn't. He was trying to breathe. Now keep in mind that my dog is 12 years old and already has arthritis issues so the way that the vet tech was holding him so aggressively probably didn't feel good either. After this episode I suspected that this vet is biased against German Shepards and when i was checking out, the woman at the desk confirmed it when she said that they had seen problem German Shepards before, but that my dog was very well behaved. Yeah, he is well behaved, so why is your vet tech trying to choke him?? So, I will definitely not be back and if you have a German Shepard I'd recommend taking them elsewhere, because VCA Old Marple certainly seems unfriendly to that breed. EDIT: Also, after looking through the reviews, I can see other people with shepards also had problems at this clinic... so if you have a shepard just stay away.

Advertising that this is a 24 hour animal hospital could not be further from the truth. Despite this being the family Vet for more than 25 years, do not depend on them if you have an emergency. All you will get instead are excuses about short staffing, and staff telling you they can make you an appointment in 2 weeks. (2 weeks is not exactly what I am looking for when I am calling for an emergency, specifically a dog with a broken leg). I will never be returning with any of our family’s animals, and if Google had the option available for no stars that would be a more appropriate rating.

So I will start off by saying I am a first time dog owner, so I have zero baseline outside of other friends' anecdotes on vet care. I have been absolutely enamored with the care I have gotten for my pup here. I adopted and knew my dog has heartworm. When we brought her over for her first check up / initial tackling of the heartworm, the staff was very upfront on costs, timetables, etc. for treatment. Pricing seems on par with what I'd expect to keep my dog from dying prematurely while being seen by specialists. Dr. Tannert was very good at listening to all my questions and concerns (I had a lot lol) and addressing them with me on our first and subsequent visits. Medication was explained and clearly labeled on their bottles, I was sent home with multiple documents stating the plan, etc. I also appreciate the follow ups - after my dog's first heartworm shot, I received a call that night asking how the dog was reacting etc. A day ago after lowering her medication per the directions, my dog had abnormal breathing so we emergency rushed her to the vet here and they grabbed her immediately. Luckily one of the doctors was able to see my dog on the side due to a cancelled appointment who called us immediately to say all looks good on the dog, that since she saw her on the side, they wouldn't be charging me as an emergency vet visit (and rather as one of the included sessions since I am a VCA Care Member) and then listened to all our questions and concerns via the phone since this is my baby and I am probably a helicopter dog dad. All in all, I have been very impressed as my own doctor doesn't do follow ups usually haha. Wife is in agreement too after having had some bad run ins with her families' former vet in Mass that almost killed their diabetic dog multiple times through neglect, etc. Again, not a long time pet owner here but very happy with what I've dealt with here in general. I would recommend for what it is worth.

Dr.Lewis was VERY unprofessional, I was totally upset & overwhelmed that my puppy was sick & the pricing of keeping him well & alive was so high & just not for him for everybody’s pet?.... & her response was..... (well hey we need to keep our business going & the lights on & I have bills to pay) so unprofessional (sarcastically) ! I will never let her see my dog again & will be putting in a major Complain with corporate ASAP ! & if it wasn’t for this amazing nurse named Felicia that came out & help & explained everything to me professionally I would have took my dog elsewhere she took control of the situation & made sure my dog got the fluids that he needed. I couldn’t thank her enough for her patients and her understanding & because of her my dog is doing great ????????

Old Marple was a silver lining of a memorably bad situation. Our 12 year old chihuahua had a funny cough for a while (only symptom) before we brought her to her regular vet, a different one in Broomall. They found on chest x-ray she had congestive heart failure that was pretty progressed. Later that same day, things progressed pretty rapidly and by about 9 at night, she was having a lot of trouble breathing. Being that Old Marple is 24/7 emergency, we headed over and called on the way there to give them a heads up. A tech met us to take her from our car, and though we were really disappointed we couldn't come in with her being in that much distress, they assured us they would have us come in if things were to worsen. The vet on service called us and reiterated what our vet had told us earlier that day and was extremely holistic and realistic about our options at that point. They let us into the facility and told us everything they were doing before they did it. The vet tech there was so kind to us and sensitive about how they said things, handled billing, etc. We held our little girl as they helped her gain her angel wings. It was quite a surprise to lose her so quickly, and we didn't imagine not being at our normal vet, but with all that being said we couldn't be more grateful to Old Marple that they were open and able to help us late that night. They treated us and our dog with respect and were nothing but professional. We really, really appreciate what they did for us.

I am incredibly disappointed with VCA Marple Animal Hospital. I initially took my 5-month-old lab mix puppy in because he had eaten some plastic and was having stomach issues. I made the vet aware that he had eaten food within the last 6 hours and they still proceeded to do X-Rays. In order to do the X-Rays they told me that they would need to sedate him because he was a threat to the vet techs. The X-Rays came back and to no surprise, they were not able to tell anything - because he still had food in his stomach. They then gave him medication to make him throw up and called to tell me he had a bad reaction and is very lethargic. They were unable to tell me if he was reacting to the sedative medication or the medication given to him to make him throw up or if it was the combination. My puppy came home in worse shape than he was in when I brought him in. Additionally - when I called them to pay, they told me my dog was ready to be picked up, to which I responded, "I have him in my car right now". I was sent home with medication for him never once told what it was. Fast forward two days later... My dog is still having stomach issues so we are charged once again to do X-Rays. This time we were told he is a happy playful pup (obviously no need for him to have been sedated the first time around) Luckily nothing alarming in the X-Rays but when I asked the vet about the medication I was given she said to me, "where did you get that?" I said it was given to me from you guys. She then said, "Oh he does not need to be taking that". Overall the staff was not friendly - I waited an hour for them to bring my dog out to the car when they said he would be out in a few minutes. When they finally brought him out, he was COVERED in his feces. It has been almost 5 days since he visited VCA Old Marple and he is still acting lethargic and not himself. Come to find out he picked up a virus at and he has since passed it along to our other dog. They will charge you, give you medication that is not needed and misdiagnose your dog.

I brought my cat ruby to the hospital. I had been seen by another vet and was told nothing was wrong with ruby. I knew she was sick. The staff here was wonderful and so was Dr Patel. Thank you so much for help with my baby. The only negative thing to get in the door the fee is 225. Which to me is terrible but ruby is so worth it. Thank you!!!

I left this practice a month ago. I recently had to put a 14 yr old shepherd down. I waffled back and forth for about 2 yrs. I recently moved to the area, from GA to PA and had to find a vet. They had at one time at least 12-14 vets on staff. But every time I called for my shepherd to be seen, I couldn’t get in for at least 10 days. I get having to wait for yearly exams but not for an elderly pet. I called in Jan to have my girl out down and was going to have to wait for another week. She rallied, and I canceled the appt. I ended up doing in home euthanasia in May. I would never recommend this clinic because of their business plan. It is not suited to treat animals that need help right away, especially the elderly

Any place that helps the well-being of animals deserves a 5 star. However, the $200 fee JUST for your pet to be seen by a vet is a little insane. At the least cover pain meds but No I'm out 200 bucks that doesn't include meds treatment exrays NOTHING. I'll do it for my Dog just wish it included something or were cheaper.

My dog was not doing well at all. Couldn’t walk. Wasn’t eating. I brought him here and they took really good care of him. He’s back to his old self. They were affordable and understanding. They diagnosed him properly and I’m satisfied.

We just recently had to put our dog down and we rushed her to Old Marple because it was closest to us. I had been there years ago and we didn't have the best experience; however, I had a very good experience this time. I cannot thank this staff enough for their care and compassion during such a difficult time. They were absolutely wonderful. We had the sweetest kindest dog, Indi, who was 9 years old and declined very quickly. We were not prepared or expecting to have to put her down. She was part of our family and saying goodbye was extremely difficult. The staff at old Marple was extremely kind professional and truly understood the pain associated with losing our pet. I don't typically write reviews, but I just received a sympathy card in the mail from them, with a lovely handwritten message from the vet (Dr. Cohen) and felt that they should be recognized for their kindness. I wouldn't hesitate to bring your pets here. The staff is extremely nice, the office is newly renovated and they did a wonderful job giving our pet a quick peaceful passing. I cannot thank them enough for that.

Dr. Graham saved my cat's life yesterday! The staff were extremely compassionate and caring during a scary situation. Dr. Graham presented all options and was encouraging throughout the process. I could tell she really cared about Calvin's outcome. 12 hours later, and he's happily chirping for pets next to me! So grateful for all the staff and their quick response.

I had been bringing my now 14 year old American bulldog Jasper here since he was a puppy. There are many factors that are affecting my rating, The one thing I wish in most of all is rating of specific veterinarians, having been a patient so long I have seen so many come and go. I have had times when there was no choice but to see others than my preferred provider. Dr. Will is absolutely amazing, she is the only reason I continue using them. My dog is 140 pounds of pure muscle in his prime and protective of his mom, lol. I’ve had quite a few of them walk in to see him lunging towards them with me (having him secured and muzzled) and a deep booming barkand there’s nothing but fear in their eyes. He gets the bare minimum in terms of evaluation and really trying to see what’s the problem. Then I was lucky enough to randomly get Dr. Will one day he gave her the same greeting as all the others. Completely calm and unfazed she looks at me and says oh big boy, why are you so scared it’s gonna be alright. One look and she knew instantly he’s a puffer fish I call him, he makes this huge show of his size and strength because frankly he’s scared of his own shadow. She proceeded to get in the floor covered in fur calmly approaching and reassuring him. To this day she’s the only one he will allow to approach us, touch him, not fight for his life to escape. When she needed a blood sample no problems as opposed to the time the took him in the back with a different doctor to get blood only to have him ( 95% white) covered in blood all over his coat. They said he wasn’t cooperative and they missed the vein I forget the reasoning but please have the decency to clean him off, one minute he’s fine the next he comes back looking like a horror movie extra. One doctor from across the room, didn’t touch him once, I came in complaint hip pain, well without xrays there’s no way I can tell you anything, I’m in the healthcare field there’s so much you can pick up on without X-rays. So if you’re seeing a different doctor I wouldn’t recommend them but as long as Dr. Will continues to work there I will continue being.a client. She goes out of her way to help calling on days off, trying everything to figure things out while trying not to make you need to apply for the handy care credit. Lol She truly puts the needs of both the animal and owner first. I refuse to let anyone else treat Jasper. She’s literally the best thing about the entire practice. This is coming from a person who due to their employer can get a 35% discount at U of Penn’s Ryan Animal Hospital. If the unfortunate day comes and Dr. Will stops seeing patients there or anywhere else; I will never bring my pet there. I will finally be able to use the huge discount I get for the area’s top animal hospital. Sadly, , Jasper’s last visit will be tomorrow my friend is still there mind and heart but his body has given out. His back legs have had all they could manage. He’s barely able to walk, collapses and he was fine Monday to me being unable to see a dog that has been so loyal, and constant companion suffer, I can see in his eyes a dig that could once jump down a ten step landing jump onto a 4 foot high bed pull a wagon with both my niece and nephew hooked up to him with the utmost of ease barely able to get up on his own. He’s been frustratingly independent from birth and refuses help, he needs to figure a way to do it on his own, I wonder where he gets that from. He has never had one accident ever in the house but tonight he peed on his own foot I could see the Shane and embarrassed in his eyes. He deserves to leave this world with the pride and dignity he lived his life with. Words can not expressing the gratitude and thanks I owe Dr. Will for giving me another year to spend with him!!!!

I was met with such compassion when I brought my cat there who had to be put to sleep that I came back when we adopted two kitties who ended up both being sick. We have been to Old Marple 3 times in the last couple months. I found them professional and fairly priced. They are open 24 hours a day, so it is easy to get an appointment and emergency care if needed. They are BUSY if you go to emergency. But, if you need it...you wait!!

I get it we love our dogs/ cats but this place is only interested in the almighty dollar. Better be prepared to pay in full or they will do what they do. Screw you. I paid in full and they don’t offer any payment plans, there nasty about it to! Fast forward about 10 days later ,my dog died. Can’t prove it but when my dog came home, he seemed worse. In my opinion they killed my dog!!

So sad that this is the only animal hospital in the area for our pets! They will wrongly diagnose your pet as well as over charge you for their service which is awful! I brought my cat Simba in on 4/12/21 @1131pm since she was not feeling well. The staff ran blood work which came back normal considering she is 20 years old so they thought it was best to send her thyroid out to be tested which I never received those results until 10:15pm on 4/13/21 which came back normal as well, after calling 6 times that day! It is just so funny that once I brought her home after being at the hospital she did nothing but decline and was acting very strange!!! Simba also passed away today. Thank you for nothing!!!

I came in because my, cat Gigi was throwing up. ( not your hairball ate too fast throw up ) and she was lethargic. I thought maybe she was having a bad reaction to something and was afraid she would end up dehydrated. Let me note that it was before 8pm ( 6:40pm to be exact when I got there ) but, they slid that $210 emergency after 8pm hospital charge. Now my final bill came out to $1038 after her X-ray ( abdomen ) and the fee for someone to read the X-rays, having a blood test and urine test. I was told by Dr Patel that there was a kidney stone but, it was probably normal. I came home and made an appointment with my regular vet to have her looked at again. Old Marple was going to squeeze as much money out of me as they could. I didn’t trust this place. The next day Dr. Patel called me and left a voicemail with X-ray and blood/urine results. He said on the message that Gigi had kidney stones, an enlarged kidney and her kidney values were high. That I must get Gigi back to the hospital for IV fluids, and medication to help her. Yet the next day my cat was eating and drinking normal again. Then Dr Patel called the next night ( mind you I’m being called at night when the prices would be higher ). He left me another voicemail telling me I must get Gigi in there so she could the get correct medication, IV Fluids for her dehydration. She would also have to say the night of course on the weekend. ( it was extremely important.) Gigi was eating normal, playing and drinking her water. For the next few weeks Gigi was eating normal, drinking normal, playing. I took Gigi to her vet appointment with the trustworthy Veterinarian. Gigi was looked over she was physically healthy and we scheduled blood and urine tests. To make a long story short I received a call from the Trustworthy Veterinarian today 3/2 Gigi’s blood test came back normal and healthy. Then the Trustworthy Doctor broke down the high kidney values from Old Marple’s tests 3 weeks ago and the kidney values from the blood test from last week with the Trustworthy Veterinary Hospital. ( Dramatically lower readings because, the doctor was kind of confused but, happy to give me good news.) Her readings were very healthy readings. I believe Old Marple tries to make you pay for services not needed or they are misdiagnosing a lot of pets. I felt in my gut that Old Marple was not a good place to take Gigi to. They were all about the money not the health of a cat or any animal at all. I should have taken her to Metropolitan Animal Hospital in Conshocken. I figured Old Marple was closer and I was so worried. Stay away from this Hospital if you want your pet diagnosed correctly and treated properly. I have read so many reviews about this hospital misdiagnosing pets, given un-necessary medication, being price gauged for everything. Yes emergency hospital care is higher then normal Veterinary Hospital I expected that but, paying over $400 for another Doctor to READ Gigi’s X-ray’s thats a little extreme. I will also be leaving this review on Yelp. Yelp has a wealth of information about Old Marple Hospital and how bad this hospital really is. They also erased 8 reviews. I’m sure this review I’m posting now will be taken down. I want to warn others save your pet and don’t bring you cat or dog to VCA Old Marple. To Old Marple Please don’t give me that repetitive “ I’m sorry this happened please email blah blah blah “ This hospital doesn’t care about animals, only care about the money they can squeeze out of people while your stuck waiting in the parking lot for your pet.
