An animal hospital that de facto discriminates against those without motor vehicles. The current curbside drop-off policy, at odds with other local business practices, equates to those without motor vehicles being expected to weather the elements for however long an appointment takes. Being located in a suburb or sorts, there is no nearby location to keep the human body warm (I guess unless you live next door!). When told, particularly unsympathetically, that the policy is agnostic to clients standing in freezing weather, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I should add that the phone representative made no attempt to refund my deposit (an apparent necessity for an appointment) and seemed happy enough to direct the call to a close until I brought this up... I'm sure they are nice people though.

Not good with emergencies at all. Asked her what could I do to help my dog if I can’t get to the emergency room and the person on the phone said “ to figure that out on my own ”…like girl :|

The whole staff is very friendly! They were able to accommodate getting my dog on the schedule on the same day that I called for a bad ear infection. The tech and doctor were extremely knowledgeable and helpful! And the check-in process via phone to follow COVID-19 protocols was very easy

The best team of people! Everyone who works here is intelligent and kind, and they're the only people we can confidently hand our animals over to with complete trust. Their prices are fair and in line with other local offices, but even if they weren't, Dr. Wilson is probably a better doctor than my human one and I'd never trust anyone else with my babies!

I called Lawrence Animal Hospital and asked for an appointment for my guinea pig. The woman on the phone was extremely nice and she said there were two available appointments that coming Thursday. I said perfect, I’ll take the 3 o’clock one and she approved, saying I would be with Dr. Radzicki. After the call, I looked at her profile on the website and was so excited! She has guinea pigs of her own and seemed to have great reviews. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to know anything about her because something happened and my appointment got switched to Thursday at 11 without my knowledge. When I got a call to confirm my visit, I was told my appointment was at 11 without any acknowledgement that I ever had a 3 o’clock one. That’s ok. The women I talked to were both very nice and friendly, and it wasn’t an inconvenience to go earlier so I didn’t make a big deal out of it. However, when I actually got to the vet, I was told I had Dr. Wilson. I did not know much about him but figured it was fine, I was just happy I would get my guinea pig in. I handed my piggie to the office staff worker and soon received a call from Dr. Wilson. He asked me questions to which the answers were already on a slip of paper I gave to them upon arrival. That would have been fine, just confirming the info, but it was clear he probably never even looked at the paper. To all of my concerns, his responses made it seem like I was the stupidest person alive and that I was a horrible owner. He was extremely condescending and rude. At one point, I asked a question and his response was “Well, he’s petrified. How about you work on that first.” Of course he’s scared, he just had a car ride and is with people he does not know, and he’s a guinea pig! They’re naturally scared creatures! He is very friendly when in his own home and comfortable. Dr. Wilson asked me about the food I was giving him and immediately at my response seemed shocked at my stupidity and carelessness, saying something along the lines of “Wow, that’s way too much. Way too much,” in a rude tone. I had told him that I found the information on what to feed him online, and he said sarcastically, “Yes, because we should believe everything we read online.” Then when I asked about where to get vitamin c in my guinea pig’s diet, he told me to find out online and that there is plenty of information available online. I was extremely nice and bubbly during this conversation, trying to laugh and have a nice interaction without being awkward. He did not reciprocate this sentiment and instead made me feel like absolute garbage and constantly cut me off on top of it all. I am a 20 year old female college student and care so much about my pet. Instead of being understanding that I am looking for advice not ridicule, he made me feel like an idiot. I am extremely upset with this and it honestly felt like he didn’t care about my guinea pig. Very sad-- I feel like I wasted my time and money and put my precious piggie through this for no reason whatsoever. The one star I have to give goes to the amazing reception/office staff who were extremely kind to me on the phone and in person when I handed my pet over and took him back. Thank you for giving me basic human decency and respect, unlike Dr. Wilson. I see he has similar reviews to my experience, so why doesn’t he work on the way he treats people?

We love the staff and the vets. During Covid-19, the office was very accommodating in helping us with our new dog over the phone and working out limited contact visits.

I've been bringing my puppy here for the past 6 months. They've been great the whole way. Walked me thru the whole process of puppy care. No complaints. A little on the pricier side but you pay for excellent service!

The wait time was quick which was nice, and when my cat got so nervous he peed a little in his crate, they offered to clean it up a little for me which was really sweet and I really appreciated that. But that’s kind of where my good experiences ended. I took my cat here because he started to lose weight quickly and was drinking excessive amounts of water so I had a suspicion he probably has diabetes. So I took him here to get checked out and knew he’d probably need blood work. I don’t know if Dr Wilson was having an off day, because my experience was very different than the other reviews seemed to say... maybe he just has a bad bedside manner? Which is fine I guess, I’m not there for me, I’m there for my cat. But the entire visit Dr Wilson went on and on about all the things that could go wrong with feline diabetes. He even said that people tend to underestimate the severity of it. Which I understand, I’m sure plenty of people DO. But instead of moving on to anything productive, he continued to talk to me like I’m one of those people who are ignorant and dismissive of how serious diabetes in cats can be. It was honestly insulting. I tried to intervene and get the point across that yeah I get it, can we please talk about what I need to do now to take care of my cat?... but no he told me none of that. Only many different ways of how my cat could die of liver or kidney issues, or how serious giving too much insulin can be (which I KNEW that but he kept barreling on). The whole visit was all scare tactics and nothing informing me of what I needed to do now to care for my cat. What about how to actually give my cat insulin? Would they show me how? Did he need to eat something before getting the insulin? Would I have to regularly check my cats blood sugar, and how would I go about going that on a cat? Would he need to have follow up bloodwork? And how long from now would that be? Literally NONE of that was told to me, and before I was able to even ask anything, he was basically ready to leave the room and was like “anything you’d like to ask before I go”......?!?!? Yes. I had a wholllleee lot of questions. But I was already fed up with the way he was talking to me and silently decided I’d be taking my cat somewhere else. There’s only so much condescension a girl can take...and to top it all off he started talking about politics. And while I actually agreed with those points of view, it seemed really weird and kinda inappropriate to bring up. I was hoping that maybe I was being dramatic about how I felt, but my friend had come to the appointment with me and as soon as we left she went off about how Dr Wilson was during the visit, and how even though he saw her hospital jacket/scrubs and acknowledged that we *both* work in the medical field, it didn’t stop him from speaking to us like we didn’t know anything...I don’t really care if half of the pet owners that come into his office are ignorant to their pets’ needs. *I* am not and I don’t appreciated being treated that way, especially if it gets in the way of making sure my cat stays safe and healthy.
