I have been searching for a vet for years now and I am so glad I came across Pittsburgh Premier! Dr. Juriga is so patient and thorough. He really takes the time to explain everything, give you all of your options while making sure you understand the situation. Nothing is more stressful and emotional than when your fur baby is sick and the compassion that Dr. Juriga shows is above and beyond. The vet techs and front desk ladies are incredible as well! They are attentive and patient and calm, which is exactly the atmosphere I love for a vet. Highly recommend!

I took my 14 yr old junior a maltipoo westie who was suffering from congestive heart failure last year to get put to sleep. It was such a hard time but the people at this vet office were so sympathetic and I feel so grateful that I took him to the right place. ????

On a whim, called to see if they could take a dog in at the last minute and they were very accomodating and squeezed me in. Extemely professional and thorough. Dr. Juriga and the rest of the staff were great! Highly recommend!

I purchased two expensive medications for my dog's skin condition and neither worked. When I called back to report this, I was told that my only option was to come back for a second opinion for an additional $45. Sorry but that doesn't work for me. How about getting it right the first time or at least not charging for a follow-up visit? Guess it's time to find another vet.

My boyfriend and I brought our cat in multiple times and they've always done great with her. When I got her spayed they answered each of my questions even after we left and I had to call them. Then we got a puppy and have brought him in for his shots, they did wonderful with him and helped us with advice as this was our first puppy together. The office ladies are so helpful and very nice. I absolutely love it!!

First time here and I waited over 30 minutes past my dogs appointment to be seen. A women who's dogs appointment was after mine got seen before mine. I asked how much longer the wait would be and they said they didn't know. I just ended up leaving. I walked out in the parking lot and there were 3 more dogs waiting.

Was taking my sick kitten to get help. The staff all was ignorant. Cost $45 to walk in and $38 for antibiotic.

The vet was very knowledgeable.

The staff were great, caring, and provided for my pet the best they could. They explained in great depth why her condition is as it is, what is happening anatomically, and gave a demonstration of potential therapies for her health condition. Everyone was incredibly caring and kind. The cost of the visit was incredible, especially for how much information they gave me. I've never had such an affordable vet for my pets.

I had to tell the vet to check my cats right ear 5 times. He seemed out of it. When we left he was sitting by the dumpster. Office staff is all I can say good about this establishment.

A little disappointed being that I spent $240.00 on a newly found baby kitten and she wasn't treated. They gave me the meds to take home to treat her. The Point wasn't the money but that the first dose should have been given with the office visit! I then called to get clarification on a recommended vitamin and they never called me back! Don't think I'll return.

I can't say they are good vets or not, as I never got to visit. I called twice for an appointment, the first time they said, "can I place you in a brief hold"?... 6 minutes later the "brief hold", they hang up on me. Then I called back, and they said the same thing, I said, you left me waiting for 6 minutes, and hang up. Which she answers: "we are very busy, the called must have dropped", and I went on hold again for 12 more minutes... Not sure I would like to go there.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my friend who I accompanied on her vet visits here: My friend had a cat who started loosing control of her back legs. The cat is a rescue who had been rescued with a litter of kittens so we knew hip dysplasia was a probable issue. She was brought in and diagnosed and given meds and prescribed urinary care science diet food. But Izzy kept getting worse, to the point where she (a cat we lovingly nicknamed "Princess Pudgebutt" due to her food intake needing to be strictly controlled) stopped eating. She also developed bad sores on her legs due to her always dragging them around. When she was brought in for the sores the Vet flat out did not look at them, even when directed to by my friend. He just shrugged. Every time we went it was clear that this clinic does not have it's act together. They would come into our room and ask us to come review the xrays, only for us to get scolded for following them to the back because they were helping someone else at the time. Once, my friend had an appointment to review lab work (3 weeks after the labs were drawn btw) only to find that her and someone else in the waiting room didn't actually have appointments. Then they wouldn't know why she was there when they had specifically called her in for appointments. They don't even bother to review charts and know their patients. And I want to be clear, my friend is one of those people where money is no object for her pets. Every. single. thing this clinic told her should be done she did, without blinking at the cost. Never, not even when it was obvious that Izzy was in pain and beyond help, did these "vets" talk to her about considering end of life care. They knew my friend would pay for whatever they said she should, and they milked it to the suffering of an adoringly sweet animal. My friend found Izzy dead in her crate (one made for a huge dog that she made into Izzy's personal area so she wouldn't be bothered by the other cats) on Sunday when she got back from work. We rushed over to be with her because she was obviously distraught. And it did not need to be this way. Pittsburgh "Premier" Vet Care is an unethical, greedy, dive of a clinic that you should avoid unless you literally have no other choice. Check the Yelp reviews for this place if you don't want to take my word for it. Get second opinions, ask questions, do NOT just trust this clinic to do the right thing. While it's too late for Izzy, my friend's other 3 cats will be seen by our vet from now on. River Valley Vet in Springdale is around the same price for our cat, is clean, professional, and when we had to put our dog down due to a tumor they adequately helped us through that process.

I wanted to share the terrible experience I’ve now had with Pittsburgh Premier Veterinary Practice twice now. The first was for a routine appointment for shots. I show up for an appointment on time to find a sign on the door that the office was closed for an emergency. I never received a phone call about the emergency. I called and left a message to reschedule and never received a return phone call either. I eventually called back and got another appointment and did get My dog his shots. The 2nd time I showed up for my appointment at 10:30. Got checked in, got My dog weighed and went to Exam room 1 which is right by the door and went over why we were there with the the assistant. We waited for an hour for the doctor. I went out and asked how much longer it would be and found out the doctor left. I saw him walk out. He walked right past our door, looked me in the face and kept going and never wondered why we were in an exam room. How does that happen? Unacceptable service! Find another Vet.

Love the vet. I forget the lady doctor's name but she was very good with my girl. Explain things to me gave her a great physical and discussed meds, flee, heartworm.

I had a similar experience to someone else who posted a review where the vet just glossed over the issues my dog was having and sent me home with reassurance that my dog was "probably okay" and the issues were "probably nothing serious." This was after maybe 2 minutes of talking with me and feeling my dog's abdomen. A friend who went here as well had a similar experience. I didn't find the office to be particularly clean or inviting, and the front desk staff was complaining about having to stay late to perform a euthanasia. Not something you want to overhear as a first-time visitor. Needless to say, it was my last-time visiting.

I took my new puppy in for a first visit and a round of booster shots. There was a backlog of animals waiting to be seen, which wasn't a big deal, that happens. The waiting room only has 2 chairs in it, one of which looked to have blood stains on it, so the wait wasn't particularly pleasant. The rest of the office that I saw was nothing special, but clean at least. The vet was not very personable or friendly, just businesslike and going through the motions. Then came the reason I will never be back to this vet- they somehow didn't have any of the vaccine I had scheduled the appointment for. They gave some excuse about having a litter of puppies come in today, but I don't see what that has to do with making sure vaccines for the scheduled appointments are in stock. I waited 40 minutes to be told that they couldn't do the one thing I'd come in for. First impressions count for a lot, and this one cost them my business.

I brought my dog in because he was lethargic and refusing to eat and drink. I will say that I absolutely loved the vets and staff when I went in. They were incredibly helpful and compassionate. I have no problems whatsoever with anyone there. The problem was with obtaining my dog’s records. I asked for a copy of his blood, UA and x ray since I was concerned about having to take him to an emergency vet overnight and didn’t want to have to rerun these costly tests. Tuesday: Call 1: I asked for records, provided my email and was told I’d be sent them ASAP Call 2: (waited half a day and was a couple hours or so before closing) called again and asked to confirm the email I gave them, they read back the wrong email. Call 3: I was sent the wrong dog’s info complete with the owner’s address, phone number and other details. (I’d post a screenshot of the email but don’t want to post someone else’s identifying info) I was given an apology and told they’d fix it ASAP Call 4: (half an hour before closing) was told they had the details and it’s on the list of things to do. Wednesday: Call 5: the task was left over from the day before and after cleaning up after a CT, the records would be sent Call 6: the clinic is closed due to a family emergency and will be open the following day. I have called every single day since then. It’s Saturday. I don’t even have the option of going to another vet because I don’t have the records I’ve been repeatedly calling for and they’d want the results for comparison. Update: it’s Wednesday. It’s over a week later and still no records. Still been calling every single day. I’m also running low on medication and have been expecting a call back from a vet to discuss said medication. Update update: finally got my records but am struggling to get the prescription called into a local pharmacy. Final update (Friday) My prescription wasn’t faxed to my local pharmacy. I’m giving up and just going to another vet. I’m out of the medication I needed too.

I can’t complain at all. Brought my little shih tzu here after he was attacked by a deer. They had walk in’s available. When we arrived there were a lot of cars in the parking lot so I assumed we would be waiting awhile. It wasn’t bad at all. Less then an hour. The staff was very kind and compassionate. Jenna at the front desk was amazing and I didn’t get the vets name but he was excellent. Very caring toward my pup. They took him back, sedated him and gave him some stitches. Didn’t rock me on prices either. Would definitely recommend and return for any future emergency visits. Hopefully there aren’t any!

The new manager Lindsey is AMAZING! she's so patient with your pet and so friendly with the clients that come in. I was really anxious for my dog's first appointment because he can be a bit high maintenance; Lindsey took time to make him feel comfortable before the exam and everything went smoothly from there! i'll definitely be bringing my dog here from now on.

Giving one star because it's incredibly affordable and the staff are friendly BUT unfortunately too many red flags in the three times I was there with my newly adopted cats. - the first vet that saw my cat prescribed one type of worm meds and when I came back for a follow up, I was told I was given the wrong medicine?! Luckily it was still a type of worm med. - the same cat had also been prescribed Otomite ear drops for ear mites but I wasn't told to clean her ears before administering the drops, I figured that out on my own after some online research. Was also told at the follow up that the "3 drops every other day" which the first vet had prescribed was wrong, it should be once every two weeks??? So I was giving my pet way to much. - was told my cat (that isn't yet one year old) possibly has stomatitis and I should book an appointment to get all her teeth removed now and cancel if it clears up? Seemed like an incredibly drastic suggestion after a very quick and inconclusive evaluation of her gums. Also don't know why the vet who had seen her under a month prior hadn't checked her gums? - there were some USED cotton swabs in the jar of unused swabs. I pointed this out to the vet and instead of tossing the whole contaminated jar, she continued to use swabs from it to clean my cat's ears. I never write bad reviews and always give the benefit of the doubt but this was just too much for me and harmful to my pet's health and potentially other pets.
