The Pet Mechanic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I was dog-sitting my son's dog while he was out of town and the dog came down with an illness. I called Pet Mechanic and they were fully booked. The receptionist asked me to hold while she checked so see if there was any possibility I could come in. She returned to the call to say I could come in at noon to see the vet. I am wondering if he used his lunch break to see us. Anyway, the service at the Fishtown location, from the receptionist to the two vet assistants to Dr. Foley was amazing. Even though they squeezed us in, I did not feel rushed. He tended to the dog with great attention, provided treatment and checked his records to see if he was current on all his vaccinations and tests. I really can not imagine getting better attention and customer service. I arrived to the appt. totally stressed and left fully relieved.

They took me as an emergency walk in. They took care of my baby girl ????‍⬛ and found out that she's fine but maybe dramatic. Oh well! ????

Everyone at TPM is friendly, helpful, professional and courteous. I would not take my pets anywhere else unless it's an emergency. Being able to make appointments online is a plus. They are busy but they take great care to make sure the animals are comfortable and treated thoroughly and properly. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed! Services are competitively priced as well. Thanks to all at TPM!!

Great place to take your dog the people are so nice the dog loves them and was even excited to go

I had the absolute best experience here. New to Philly and my one year old pup needed her vaccinations. Our vet actually played with her and I can say I have never had that happen at a vet appointment before with any dog. Thorough, kind, not rushed. Super clean facility. Didn’t know what to expect but all around fantastic.

They were very professional and patient with my dog even though she can be a bit difficult with strangers. Would highly recommend

EDIT TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW- This place is so unprofessional for trying to air out grievances through my honest Google review with lies. For the owner of Pet Mechanic, my credit cards were declined because we were given new ones and we kindly gave you the information when you called for updated ones and apologized. We did not appreciate how your front desk forced my boyfriend to pay off the rest of our puppy plan prior to the end date when you even said you have our new card on file. ALL FOR PROFIT. I used to rave about this place when my dog was a puppy. In the last few months, my opinions have seriously changed. They offer a puppy package, which is honestly a scam. They say they will run your card monthly for this package, then they don’t. So each time you bring your pet in, they say you have some outrageous balance on your account. I had to speak to the office manager about this (after calling the office 6 times in one morning & leaving 2 voicemails). In the last few weeks, they have not trimmed my dog’s nails like I had requested at the appointment, upcharged ear cleaner over 100% of its value (I double checked online) and charged us to tell us our dog didn’t have an ear infection anymore. What is the point of this puppy package for sick visits if I am going to be charged additionally at each visit? This place is 100% only worried about profit anymore.

I've had the pleasure of working with two of the vets that are at this location. Both were very kind and patient with all of my five gazillion questions and I appreciated them being honest with me about what treatment I would need for my cat Orion. Will go continue to go here as long as I live in fishtown :)

Far more a profit driven business than a caring vet practice. When you really need them for urgent consultation, they send you away without even examining your pet.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. My friends raved about The Pet Mechanic in Fishtown. I had my first appointment with my new puppy and the vet seemed to care less. He kept checking his watch and I didn’t feel valued or cared about when I asked questions. He said I’d get a puppy packet with next steps... but I never got it. I have no idea when my 8 week puppy should go in next as they didn’t schedule any follow up appointments. As a new dog mom, I want a vet that cares about my puppy and is patient to answer questions. The three stars is because the receptionist and nurse assistant (not sure the exact title) were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I’m not sure if I’ll visit again. Hopefully, this was a one-off thing so others don’t have the same experience.

The Pet Mechanic is a truly great vet! I've never had a dog so *excited* to go to the vet like my current dog is when we arrive at their office. They take great care of the pets and are truly attentive to their needs. The staff is also more than willing to put up with endless questions and answer any of my concerns. You definitely won't be disappointed bringing your dog here.

No one was at the counter for about 5 minutes when the lady finally showed up she had an attitude about me bringing my cat out of the cold and did not follow posted the guidelines that were posted both on the website and the location. The posted guidelines stated they were only allowing 1 person in the lobby the rude lady with an attitude problem let 3 people wait in the lobby. Not bringing my pets here. I have two cats who I was going to take bi yearly to the vet as I did with my old cat you lost out on 1600 a year because your employee has an attitude problem. I have already scheduled with another vet in the area

We took our aging cat here for a wellness evaluation and learned she had an ear infection on both ears and possible dental issues. The vet treated her ears there along with rabies shot during this visit with no explanation to us of possible side effects, potential adverse events or symptoms to look out for. Our cat had terrible adverse reactions to one or both treatment with vomiting, nausea, lethargy, loss of appetite, and now loss of hearing. The cat was absolutely fine and happy, with all her senses in tact before we brought her into the Pet Mechanic. After the visit with the vet, she loss her appetite and loss a tremendous amount of weight, loss of hearing, all of which is depleting her energy entirely. She barely walks around or is mobile now. We are highly upset and disappointed in The Pet Mechanic Fishtown and is now looking for alternative options and opinions for our cat's care.

Had my first visit with my dog here today! I was super pleased with how friendly everyone was. I appreciate all the precautions they are taking during this time. I felt safe and welcomed. Definitely coming back :)

Super nice vet and techs. Go back in a couple weeks for a booster. Easy part of town to get to.

We LOVE the Pet Mechanic! It's easy to get an appointment within a week of when you call (sometimes even same day!), and the staff is always extremely friendly and excited to see our sweet dog. I've never waited longer than 3-5 minutes in the waiting room. The prices are fair, and the facility is clean. Could not recommend more highly!

Very friendly staff! Never thought my dog would enjoy going to the vet so much. We purchased the puppy plan for our dog but have found that we have to remind them that we purchased that as a few times they have tried to overcharge (taking it as a mistake!). Overall very happy with the service here.

Went to Pet Mechanic today with our recently adopted special needs dog. They were kind and gentle with my new dog and were patient and friendly with me and my questions. It's conveniently located and they're taking COVID precautions seriously. Will definitely continue care with them.

They always take great care of my Great Pyrenees puppy. The puppy plan (one fee for puppy needs the first year) was a great investment, esp. for such a big breed!

The crew at the Pet Mechanic are always kind, accommodating, and helpful. They are very good at handling my cats and dog. Most importantly, they're really practical. I've called them for all sorts of random symptoms. Sometimes they've told me to monitor the pets, sometimes they ask me to bring them. I appreciate that they'll offer advice over the phone since there truly are no winners in the battle that is getting my cats into a carrier. They are always able to get us in quickly when there's an injury or an animal's not feeling well. Thank you for always taking care of my pets!

I've tried other vet's with my new dog but she responded well to this one. She tends to be a nervous dog, as most are when going into the vet but the staff worked with her and gave her the time/patience she needed. They can usually see my dog right away so that's convenient. Not too great for parking but you can find a spot if you drive around the block(s). NOTEWORTHY: VET FEE IS ONE OF THE CHEAPEST I HAVE FOUND IN 19125 AREA. My friend from the complete other side of Philly takes her dogs here now because they are well priced.

The pet mechanic has been our vet for a few months now and we could not be happier with their service, kindness and professionalism. Our 7 month old pup got sick over the weekend outside of normal hours we followed the prompt on their message system and took him to a local emergency center that was recommended. When Monday came around we visited the pet mechanic for another check up and they already had communicated with the emergency center and were ready to help and continue his treatment. They did not recommend any extra services that we did not need and got our pup back to health. We are first time dog owners and had lots of questions and Dr. Wills happily answered them all even when I called the day after the appointment. Thanks for taking care of Teddy and for a great experience for us as new dog parents!!
