It was close for the time we were here. The staff turnover is high, and that results in uncaring service, terrible communication and laughable record keeping. Our dog acted weird and we called to make an appointment, we were poopooed. I think it was an obscene 6 weeks out. We Emailed Dr. Cohn, who ignored it. We called another clinic and they triaged him for an urgent next day clinic visit. He was operated on within 32 hours of that call. As the Primary Fishtown got the biopsies. We were concerned because he was acting weird, and got the same poopoo over the phone. The other clinic called and less us know a second biopsy came back (Fishtown was copied) and it was cancer. Last month, his oncologist (the other clinic’s referral and apparently, the best in the region) asked for a urine sample. In what is a great example of the poor communication and function, Dr. Kantor asked us to give it, but never responded to a request for equipment, Dr. Cohn demanded an appointment ($$), and Dr. Newth claimed "we [Fishtown] did not request it". I understand vet clinics survive based on location, not competence, which is how Fishtown is limping along. There are at least three other vet clinics in the neighborhood and it takes little to be better than this.

We moved to Fishtown back in October and started bringing our 3 cats here since it was so close to us. I’m SO glad this is the closest vet. They are so caring, respectful and conscientious. I’ve seen a different vet for most visits and they’ve all been wonderful but the vet tech Amani has always been the one to bring us inside and get us situated. She is so good with all of my cats, even my super anxious cat who HATES the vet. We are so grateful for her. The prices here are so reasonable compared to past vets I’ve been to, they follow up via email to check in after appointments and they send appointment reminders too. They take their time to answer all of my ridiculous questions and really get to know your pets. Bottom line: they care!

I just moved to Philly last month and I needed to get my cat established with a veterinarian. I am a veterinary technician but I'm not working in a clinical setting at this time, so I was really nervous about taking my cat to a new veterinarian where I wasn't going to be the one handling him. After researching many hospitals, I really liked all of the things that Fishtown Vet had to offer and felt that their core values aligned with my own. I spoke with Jamie on the phone to make the appointment and she was so kind and helpful. She wasn't dismissive at all about any of my concerns, no matter how minor or involved. Upon arrival, the hospital was clean and all of the staff were so welcoming. The technician, Colleen, and Dr. Cohn were amazing with me and my cat and really took time to discuss his condition with me. My cat is not the most cooperative patient and they were incredibly sensitive to my anxiety about how he would be restrained for his bloodwork. They went slowly with his exam and they worked with what he was comfortable with to make sure that he had a positive visit. He did so well with them, even for the parts of the visit that normally stress him out, and I am beyond impressed with how things went. I feel so much better now knowing that he will be in such caring hands moving forward with any future treatments he will need.

We've been coming here since they opened, and the quality have care has always been excellent. Katie at the front desk is always helpful and able to figure out a game plan to get you in, Dr Newth is always attentive and knowledgeable, and having dealt with Dr Kohn for the first time today, they are also attentive with their care and intentional about actions, seeking out all options on a diagnosis. Fishtown Animal Hospital gives 5 star service and I highly recommend them for your pet care needs.

I've been seeing the wonderful staff at Fishtown Animal Hospital since I moved to Philly in 2015. Whether it was a routine check up or a sick visit, they have been an absolute pleasure. I've never felt taken advantage of or that the charges and tests were unnecessary, and I'm always completely satisfied and confident with the care. Above that, the entire staff is lovely. Although I've moved out of the city and I could have found another vet more conveniently located to me in South Jersey, I continue to go to Dr Cohn and her staff simply because I trust them. Things I love : fair prices, reliable, friendly and empathetic staff, thorough but will only do what's necessary to care for your pet, will work with you if you need an emergency appointment, they email copies of your invoices and follow-up the morning after each appointment, they will set appointments via email

Horrible vet practice, especially the front desk. Hearing them complain and talk about how annoying clients are is disgusting. I also was sent away to a vet practice, being told my dog has heat stroke and that they were unable to take me and only to be told by the other emergency pet practice that it wasn't heatstroke, and that my dog would be okay as I cried on the phone made me realize I wouldn't ever trust them with my pet.

Dr Cohn has been taking care of my animals for years and has always gone above and beyond. Despite such an emotionally grueling and busy profession, she has always taken the time to listen to all my concerns, continually works to solve issues my animals may have. I have had 3 animals with health/behavior issues and she has proved that she cares for her patients as much as us pet owners do. The staff (reception and techs) are always friendly and ready to take on whatever my animals throw at them (hello dog aggression and my cat trying to murder them) Overall I couldn’t recommend FAH more and won’t take my pets anywhere else

Both my cat (1+yrs) and dog (6yrs) have gone here since the day they came home. The staff and vets are very friendly and care for my family. I often see some of them in the neighborhood and they greet my dog by name. ????

They are very competent. I've never had a bad suggestion or mis-diagnosis. They always keep me up to date when my pets have surgery. I have both a cat and dog, and both have had major surgery done at this hospital. They are very good with pain management. I never really have to wonder if my pet is in pain after surgery. Whenever I'm told my pet needs something they always administer the proper tests, so there's never a question of am I doing the right thing? They are just a good, solid all around place to take your pet when it's sick, in pain, or acting strangely

I explicitly scheduled an appointment here because I was worried my cat had a blockage. At the appointment the vet said she had an ear infection & sold me 3 separate medications to treat an ear infection. This confused me, so I asked again about the blockage. The vet said I’d need to schedule another appointment for an X-Ray. Instead, the next morning I took my cat to another vet without an appointment & they fit her in & did blood work & X-Rays for me & found the blockage I feared. They also said she didn’t have a fever & her blood work looked good, so I’m still really confused where the Fishtown vet got “ear infection” from. They either don’t know what they’re doing or don’t care and make stuff up.

When I moved back to Philly I wanted to find the best local vet for my rescued dogs. Years later, I still take them here and I couldn't ask for better people taking care of my animals. My older dog is very scared of new people due to many years of neglect and abuse before I adopted her, and Dr Cohn and her staff have always gone above and beyond to care for her. My younger dog initially came into my life as a foster with some mystery medical issues. Dr Cohn has always been so compassionate and amazing with her, and to our relief, helped pinpoint the exact issue.

I adopted a cat from here this week and i have to say that everyone here is so beyond amazing. I would like to especially thank Jen and Casey for all of the amazing help and being so great with response time. They were both a huge pleasure to deal with and made the whole adoption process super easy!
