Terrible service. Defensive staff. Won’t trust them with my cat again - learned my lesson. They don’t care about your animal. They only care about their quotas and efficiency. Do yourself, and your baby, a favor and don’t go to this location.

The vet didn't treat my cat. My cat wouldn't calm down for the vet so they gave me the meds to give to him myself. And they want me to give him a sedative next time and bring him back in a few weeks for blood work. It's difficult getting him to the vet in the first place so when nothing was done with him and I was told to bring him back was very frustrating.

Care has been great and I have nothing against the vets and team working, however, finding an appointment within a month is almost impossible. Possibly due to short staff. Even though I am paying a Monthly Fee for the Prevention Plan, what’s the point if you can’t get care when you need it. My pet was having an allergic reaction and the soonest they could take her is over a month from today. I ended up taking her to a different vet, paying out of pocket. I contacted Banfield and all they said was “Sorry we’re busy, but you’ve saved a lot in care.” I will be taking my business elsewhere and hope they can fix this, specially for those on the yearly Wellness plans.

I brought my dog here for surgery, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! The doctors are outstanding, not only in medical knowledge, but in caring for my pet as if she was their own. They even gave her special attention as she was coming out of the anesthesia so that she wouldn't become dysphoric. I really appreciate their straightforward approach. If you want your animal treated and cared for, then definitely consider taking them here!

This Pet smart is horrible, me and my girlfriend brought out cat here and they too tests without telling us and had us pay extra money for them. How do you take tests on my animal and not tell me about it and except me to pay for it. Do not come here. And pet smart, if you reply, don’t say nothing if you ain’t trynna give me my money back.

My 6 month old puppy went in for spay and when I called them with post op concerns I was disregarded and made to feel that this was a normal reaction. They called to follow up at 9 AM and when I told them the incision was getting worse they told me I can come in at 4:45 cause the doctor was in surgery. Took my puppy to another emergency vet and they had to perform emergency surgery due to infected site. Banfield disregarded my concerns, therefore making me seek help somewhere else. They can care less about the animals and are unprofessional to say the least. I am disgusted that so called vets don’t stand by there surgeries. If left untreated my dog could have became septic. They need to start listening to pet parents and be more proactive. I would spend my life savings on my dogs. They are my children and it horrified me that pure negligence can cost your puppy their life.

Please DO NOT bring your pet here! They do not care about your pet! They care about money!! And that’s it! The only reason they even have a one star rating is because it’s mandatory! I brought my dog here on July 4th due to her urinating an alarming amount of blood. The vet called us via phone as we waited (due to covid we were not allowed in the back) and told us our dog was in excellent condition for her age. They weren’t able to get a negative or positive testing with the urinalysis due to how much blood was in her urine but decided to treat her for a UTI. They gave us seven days worth of antibiotics (they said typically they give five) and I asked before leaving when would we start to see some results and the tech went back and asked.. then came back and said within two to three days. During the week we noticed a lot of signs of things getting worse and we contacted them and nobody returned our calls. Even when we told them we believe our dog was seizing in the middle of the night. Or when we called once the antibiotics were about to finish and told them nothing has improved. They told us to come back in for another urine test and she probably needs additional antibiotics. We decided to take our dog elsewhere and had to make the decision to put our dog to sleep because she was bleeding internally. A week later after we visit your location and you tell me my dog is healthy.. she is gone. I can’t even put into words how awful I feel that I listened to you and convinced myself she was okay because I desperately wanted her to be. I never want anyone else to feel the way I do. Fast forward to today when your chief of staff calls me and calls herself offering her condolences yet she actually invalidated my feelings numerous times while I’m also grieving the loss of my dog. She told me that her veterinarian did everything she could and should have done when clearly she knows I feel otherwise. She told me that the vet told me that my dog may need to be brought in for a follow up which was never ever said to me! She said they told me to bring her in for different testing which was never said to me! They only offered another urinalysis and additional antibiotics when I called them because as I stated previously they never returned our calls. She told me this is what it states in their notes as if that means it MUST be true. I asked her why another vet was able to feel the lump on my dogs belly within two minutes and her vet didn’t even though I paid for a physical exam and she insured me her vet did a physical exam because it’s written down and that’s legal documents so once again it MUST be true. I wasn’t present in the room.. nor was she.. so I told her neither of us can speak and honestly say it did or didn’t happen. She offered me a sixty dollar refund for the exam.. Is that supposed to make me feel better? You admitting your vet misdiagnosed my pet would make me feel better. You admitting that your business failed in following up with us after paying you would make me feel better. But instead you just want to invalidate how I feel and back up your vet. Please DO NOT bring your beloved pets here.. They do not care! I will never stop speaking up for my dog!!

After seeing all of the bad reviews I feel compelled to share our excellent experience with this vet’s office. We started with Banfield a few years ago after I impulsively took in a cat off the street who needed medical attention ASAP. We chose them initially because the office is very close to our house and was the only non-emergency office where we could get an appointment for weeks. Right away I was impressed! We never intended for this to be our primary vet but our first experience was great. Our cat had a host of medical issues and the only way we were able to afford her care was with their Wellness Plan. I don’t remember them being pushy about it at all and I was very grateful that it was an option for us. When the time came when we needed to put her down they were so compassionate. We were a bunch of blubbering messes and they let us stay as long as we needed. Even now, putting my cat down was one of the worst days of my life and I was so appreciative of their kindness and patience. A week or so later, much to my surprise, we received a sympathy card in the mail signed with personal notes from all the vets and techs in the office. I was blown away by that gesture. In the years since, we’ve continued to take our new additions (our sweet senior cat + loudmouth behemoth of a dog) to this office. We’ve seen Dr. Hutzapple and Dr. Masucci and they’ve both been excellent. We haven’t signed up for the Wellness Plan with either of our current pets since they’re lower-maintenance and just need annual appointments. We’ve never been pressured or pushed on this subject by anyone on in the office. Unfortunately, vet care is just expensive but I’ve always found their prices to be reasonable and they do a good job of explaining what you’re paying for when you ask. We always make it a point to make appointments early in the morning before the PetSmart opens and we’re always in-and-out without issue. We could go elsewhere but we’ve stuck with Banfield because they’ve always treated my critters with exceptional care.

Update 1/2021 This place has become so bad. The front end staff are very rude. The vets techs lack basic knowledge and the vets do the bare minimum. The vets barely speak to you directly and dont give you information on any issues. You have to constantly ask for more information, treatment options, preventative options, etc. They ignore warning notes and allergies on the pets profiles. Also be warned about the pet insurance. I have asked multiple times for it to not be autorenewed and they contantly renew it and then charge you to cancel it. The front desk staff are always so sweet and efficient. I've had a few bad experiences with different vets here of the course of many years, but they seem to always rotate so once you get one you like you can ask them to make them your primary doc for your pets. But they are super accommodating for mild-emergency visits (for serious emergencies take them to the ER)

I am not happy i wish they could tell you upfront how much you are gonna be charged for every single thing. It’s expensive and they sell you things without telling how much, flea treatments in my case. I am posting prices to be reference for you so you know what you are getting into.. I took my two cats there, do the math ???????? Office visit $57.95 Physical exam $44.95 (2ndpet) Rabies vaccine $26.08 Feline distemper FVRCP $30.83 for first and you go back for second vaccine 3 weeks later and they probably gonna charge office visit too but I am not going! Medical waste disposal fee $4.58 for each pet Revolution feline single dose $22.99 because they found dead flea on cats ????‍♀️ They should leave me to buy whatever i find good for my own opinion but they sold two for two cats.

They are good if you have money, but like every other pet hospital no money no service. I have been a faithful dog owner for over 10 years. My husband passed away 3 years ago. Since then my pebbles has been getting ill. The pet insurance my husband had for my dog lapsed after he passed and I have not been able to pay for services for her. I got enough money to at least get her a check up and meds. she needs more help but every time I call them they say sorry there’s nothing we can do or they put me on hold so long til the call ends. I feel so bad for my dog.

If you call and rose answers hang tf up.... if you go in and see rose at the desk you should just go home. She’s rude af and probably the least helpful receptionist I’ve ever seen at any reception desk I’ve ever had to interact with.

After getting a diagnosis of FLUTD after a visit to the emergency vet, I made an appointment at Banfield Pet Hospital to give my new rescue cat a vet to help us guide and care for Calcifer. On top of the urinary issue he went through, he also has many psychological and truama related issues, so cages and vet visits, or pets from random people, are very hard for him to get through - and it is for whom may be handling him as well, as he is essentially a puma ???? We met with Lauren McTiernan for his follow up and long term treatment options for his urinary issues and mental health issues. I feel terrible that the only thing I was able to offer her on her birthday was a scared puma with a bladder that needs to be expressed, however, I have never seen someone handle him with as much patience, love, and grace as Lauren and her Veterinarian Technician did without needing to sedate him. We are now on a prescribed food and medication for him, he has made a full 360 turn, he is happy, comfortable, not in pain, he can relax, he loves pets and attention now. He's a whole new cat, I'm so happy they were able to provide Cal with the value of life he deserves. I will definitely be making a follow up appointment with them (sorry)

After looking at some other options, I decided to bring my dog Eva here for a check up. She have a mass on her upper right molar that need to be removed and her teeth need to be cleaned as well. The cost for the teeth cleaning (including the surgery to remove the mass) is half of the cost compared to other vets that I've called. Also that day Eva got her rabies vaccination. Her rabies vaccination cost 30% cheaper that the other vet. Ok now let's talk about the WELLNESS PLAN. I read some of the reviews here and some of you are unhappy. They explain to me the benefit of the program. They make sure that I make a well informed decision. At the end, it's ME who decide if I want to sign up or not. They don't put a gun on my head to sign up for it and guess what... I didn't sign up for their wellness plan. Couple of days after our visit, they call me couple of times to check on Eva and to make sure everything is fine. My other vet (that I pay more for things) never do this. Unfortunately, Eva crossed the bridge at night (at my house). I didn't know what to do. I called them the next morning. They guided me through everything that I need. The next day I received something on the mail. They sent me a card with Eva's paw print. I'm very very grateful with everything they've done. Great customer service. Very nice - compassionate staff and doctor who are willing to listen to my concern and answer all my questions.

Bansfield on Oregon Ave has the best staff! My Teacup Chihuahua passed away on July 21, 2019. Everyone was very professional but very friendly. The presentation, compassionate care and handling of Rudi's ashes was heartfelt. I was very upset during the pickup of Rudi's ashes so I couldn't express my appreciation for the loving and compassionate services rendered at this sad and heartbreaking time. I was very impressed with the Certificate, Urn with name plate and a comforting animal prayer.I'm thoroughly satisfied and would recommend this establishment for pet health care needs and other services offered. Thank you from Rudi's owner and mom!

I just went to get my dogs shots up to date at Banfield Pet Hospital and the PetsMart staff there were very friendly and helpful. And my veterinarian and assistant was very informative and caring when it came to my dog. They also answered all of my personal concerns regarding my dog. My only concern was that the administrator working the desk at the time failed to recognize how businesses operate, a business is set up to satisfy customer needs, not make life harder for the customer. If your dog pees on the floor in the pet store you help them clean it up not insult them, and insist it is cleaned immediately and point them in the direction of a box of tissues, when a mop was needed, do they really expect people to wipe up pee from an 80lb dog with a napkin??? I witnessed this and it was extremely rude. The poor dog was so excited to be there she couldn’t help herself. This administrator should probably not work around animals. However, with that aside my experience was very professional and I would give them a second chance.

This hospital is always making prognosis that require expensive test and turn out to be wrong. They promise to follow up with the care of your pet but never do. You will need to be diligent about the care of your pet.

I have the banfield wellness plan and I just moved to philly from jersey. The jersey banfields are great! The south philly banfield is so rude and dont care about the animals at all! I got charged 120$ for my dogs medication which orginally costs 65$ as my dogs vet from jersey had said! Then my dog got injured this past week and I had called very early in the morning to make an appointment and immediately the woman on the phone told me 500-700$ and that she’d call me back when the vet got in but never did. This is the second time that happened to me. Anytime I bring my pup in they have a major attitude problem. VERY UNRELIABLE STAY AWAY GO TO CENTER CITY IF YOU REALLY HAVE TO NOT SOUTH PHILLY. Literally the worst humans Ive ever come across.

Be prepared to be confronted with a sales pitch every time you're in there. They want you to subscribe to their awful wellness plan for puppies, and the vet is VERY pushy about it. We took our dog in for a second visit, which was just for a single vaccination. I was very clear when scheduling the appointment, asking if the only charge would be for the shot. I was assured that was it. Well, lo and behold when we go to checkout, they charge us for the visit...which was 3x the cost of the shot. And this, of course, was after going through another sales pitch for the wellness plan. Again. The only thing Banfield cares about is money. Period. You'll be hassled about the wellness plan, told to get far more shots than your pet needs, and they'll try to sell you only the pills, collars, and topical ointments they have...all of which can be bought online for far, far less. I'm going to our local vet. It isn't worth the hassle, especially when you're dealing with a place that cares about making money and not about the pets in their care.
