I have been using Homestead for around 25 years. Since Scott and Tania have been the owners the professionalism and presentation has been raised to a much higher level. I am happy to use them for my "baby" and also to recommend them to others including clients.,

Our GSP was 11 months old when home renovations necessitated us all leaving home for 3 weeks. As Fergus had to go to kennels we asked if Homestead board and training kennels could fit him in.We had already heard from a dog walking friend that they are excellent. Each member of staff that we spoke to was knowledgable ,helpful and nice which gave us confidence to leave our pup with them. They are very thorough so there is a good exchange of relevant and important information ,both ways.We always felt confident that he was in a safe caring environment with good communication whilst we were away. The training was excellent. As soon as I met Fergus's trainer I relaxed and was suddenly OK about leaving him. Now that he is home again it is abundantly clear that Fergus LOVED his training .......he gets very excited as soon as the training collar and lead appear and he clearly enjoyed his time with David working very well together. He has learned many very important lessons and we now must ensure that we do our part in reinforcing it all! Knowing that we will be followed up with our trainer and can talk about any problems is invaluable. The training course for the humans is brilliant and has been a terrific resource and extremely well presented. We can't recommend them more highly.

I cannot recommend Homestead highly enough. The time Anthony spent with me on the phone and ensuring the initial handover went smoothly was amazing and made me feel really confident with our decision to send Archie here for training. The greeting we received from Ange when we first entered the office made us feel right at home. And then there was Archie's trainer, Jess, so calm and easy to talk too. Nothing felt rushed and we have left with a better version of our beautiful boy and the confidence and tools we require to let him be his best self.

We sent our 1 year old Kelpie Alfie to Homestead for board and train, and we cannot believe the change in him. Alfie was lucky to have Dave as his trainer - his ability to train came from his obvious love for dogs, but also his incredible knowledge of dog behaviour. He was great with teaching both of us (Alfie and I) - the hand over was incredible, to understand why he behaves the way he does is helping us to handle him at home, and continue with the training. Alfie has gone from chasing after every car that went past, pulling at all times on the leash, to walking loose leash past cars - we couldn’t be more proud and thankful

Absolutely would recommend these guys for dog training. Pete and beck helped train both my dogs and the results are amazing. 10/10.

Great friendly staff, first time user of services..

Emily is an easy-going and intuitive trainer with my young border collie. She is very knowledgeable and we’ve made a lot of progress in just a few sessions without it seeming overwhelming. I highly recommend Emily if you’re looking for a no-fuss approach to training.

Immaculate facilities, excellent caring staff, we'll be using them again.

I booked my 8 month old Borzoi puppy in for Homestead Kennels Board and Train program. Borazois are a stubborn breed and I was having difficulty making progress with her on lead manners. Since getting her back her on lead behaviour has improved 100%, she loose lead walks and will walk calmly past people, dogs and runners without pulling and jumping at them. Megan and the entire team at Homestead are so responsive and generous with their time and information and it is clear they absolutely love working with the dogs. Absolutely would recommend.

I sent my dog here to board and train as I had been struggling to get her to co operate.It has been money well spent and I now have a dog who is easier to handle and understand a bit about dog behaviour.the team go out of their way to help you even after they come home

I contacted Homestead Kennels as a last resort. I was given a dog for my 5th birthday and have had one by my side for the last 50 years. Gingy’s anxiety was terrifying for her and me. My vet wanted her to go on anxiolytics and thought that the board and train program wouldn’t work. It did! Ginger has come home with soooo much more confidence and with vastly improved behaviours. 2 months later the gains are continuing as we both build our trust in each other and in the strategies we learned from Homestead. I am eternally grateful and will be over the moon when we can start the home training visits. Jess was amazing with both Ginger and me, helping us to learn the skills to have a joyous loving relationship.

I took my dog Tank to the 3 weeks board and train program as I was struggling with him on the lead on walks as he would want to pull and try and catch bikes and joggers..... well he is a border collie well he came to the program as a border collie and came back as a border collie cross aussie shepherd ????. I had David as the trainer as he specialises in these breed and has a great understanding of them. On the hand over I could tell straight away the difference. So much better on the lead no pulling and has the best eye contact. It has only been a few days but with the training in the backyard I can see the difference the big test will be when I go on a long walk and see bikes and joggers. If you have a border collie, aussie shepherd, kelpie etc David is your man.

My dog attended the board & train program. I am so happy with her progress and with her trainer David. He completely understood her breed having working dogs himself & the handover was great he not only showed me how to handle her but explained every detail as to why. I really can't wait to continue her training with David and see how much more we can progress.

We brought our 1 year old French Bulldog Bernie to Homestead Kennels for a 3 week training program with Jess. The transformation we have seen in him has been astounding! Before being trained by Jess his obedience was pretty low and wouldn’t listen to any of our commands. He now walks on a loose lead, can sit / drop / stay and is overall a much more calm and relaxed dog. Homestead came recommended to us but I have to say they exceeded all expectations. Jess and the staff at Homestead are welcoming, friendly and a treasure trove of knowledge. You can see the love they have for what they do and I can’t recommend them enough.

Our animals spent a few nights here while we were moving house - seemed like it would be far less stress on them than having the movers working around them. And we were right - collected some relaxed and happy pets a couple days later from friendly and engaged staff. We'll book our animals in again when the borders are open and we can go on holidays again!

I sent my 9 month old labrador to board and train as she was to bouncy and I was struggling. I was worried about leaving her,however it was obvious the people loved animals and knew exactly what they were doing. I picked Rosie up after a few weeks and Beck her trainer was so great at explaining to me how to continue with Rosies training. At home it is so much better, yes I must continue the hard work ,however Rosie is so,so much easier. I feel so confident and it was the best money I could have spent. Happy family, happy dog !! I highly recommend Homestead Kennels train and board program. It is in a great location with very friendly staff. David was a brilliant trainer with my five moth old Kelpie and his knowledge really assisted us which will help enormously.

The team at Homestead Kennels is simply incredible. Responsive, good old fashioned customer service! The level of care and training my dog received during his time there, has left me speechless. Peter, Anthony and the team, made me feel comfortable throughout, keeping me updated along the way. First week back at home, has also left me impressed with the quality of service they offer. Follow up calls and support has continued, every step of the way. I can't recommend Homestead highly enough! Thank you.

Absolutely amazing is all I need to say. The team at homestead have been so helpful with our Gsd, Jess and the team have taught Nova so much in such a small amount of time, she now knows what’s expected in her leash walking and knows that we as her handlers are more fun and rewarding than the dog walking across the road, I can’t fault the team at homestead and we look forward to implementing what we have learnt over the past few weeks Thankyou so much Jess the whole experience has been amazing

Jess and the team at Homestead Kennels are truly amazing. We left our 7 month old puppy (Banjo) with them for a 3 week training program and the results were amazing. The facilities are excellent and the team are very experienced. The 'after' program advice is also incredibly helpful. We can't rate the service highly enough.

We are absolutely blown away with Homestead Training. They are so professional and clearly passionate about the animals in their care. We are over the moon with the progress with our boy Bruce. He left our home, very anxious and distracted, we picked him up this week and he is a certified good boy!! Peter, our handler took the time and effort to walk us through his training and progress and made sure that we felt empowered to be able to continue supporting Bruce’s learning and development. We cannot speak high enough of team at Homestead and the value we got out of Bruce being there and we will certainly be having him back there for a refresh. If you are on the fence about sending your dog to Homestead, I can honestly say, you will not regret it. Thank you so much to Peter and the team for everything they’ve done.

My cattle dog Wombat has just spent 3 weeks with David as part of the Board & Train program and the difference in his confidence and self control levels is remarkable. It was really hard to leave Wombat in the hands of anyone else but every staff member I met from Homestead was kind and had a natural way with dogs. I trust them completely. There is already a lot of ongoing support/ follow ups to continue our human/ dog education. Thank you David and all of Homestead for everything you have done for us.

I feel very passionate about Homestead Kennels so this review could be long - the short version is that Homestead demonstrated great communication, professionalism, passion and knowledge. They have achieved incredible outcomes for us and our Dog, Madju. We highly recommend them. From the outset, the interest and professionalism Homestead invested in our training enquiry, reassured us we we had come to the right place. When the day came to drop Madju off, we were greeted with patient and friendly staff, who invested further time gathering information and answering our questions. We left Madju with Homestead, feeling confident and at ease. During our Madju’s training - we received regular updates from David, our dogs trainer. We also received some very impressive online training material to complete before returning. This training was enjoyable and very informative. It left me feeling empowered - armed with knowledge to carry through Madju’s training, once we got him home. Upon our return to Homestead tp pick up Madju, David and his assistant, Meg, invested significant time with us - sharing observations and seeking to further understand his history and home situation - all before reuniting us with our dog. David clearly had spent considerable time with Madju, as had Meg. If David and Meg’s knowledge and love for Madju wasn’t obvious already, it was highlighted by the relationship they had created in just 3 weeks. Our dog simply adored his trainers and the feeling was mutual. He had learnt so much!!! This was still our dog, but a dog feeling rewarded for controlling his own impulses. The next 2 hours were spent teaching us how to harness the new habits instilled in Madju. This was a truly enlightening experience and built on the concepts we learnt during the online training. A week later - continuing Madju’s training at home has been rewarding for both us and our dog. Homestead have exceeded expectations. Our dog is happy, engaged and focused on us and the training. The potential of this new relationship seems limitless. Once unrealistic expectations seem well within reach. I’m really looking forward to our refresher, and to show David what good humans and dog we all are together. I really appreciate you also checking in on us since we went home David . We certainly have passed on your hugs to “knucklehead”, as requested. Homestead is a clear 5/5 review. I can’t recommend them enough. Their care and passion for dogs is inspiring. Everyone at homestead, including (and especially) the reception staff have just been incredible. Their training is simple to put into practice, empowering and effective. Thank you Homestead. I cannot rate highly enough the professionalism, care and diligence we experienced during our dog, Red's, stay at Homestead. We chose the train and board program because we'd encountered a significant amount of separation anxiety and lacked the training opportunities to work on this during COVID lockdowns and work/school from home. From our first enquiries to our handover and follow up calls, the team and in particular Red's trainer, Peter, have been absolutely fantastic. Red is a much more confident dog now and our family also has better knowledge to keep the training going at home to embed what he's learned. The change has been remarkable and everything we could have hoped for. I'd highly recommend the training program for any dog - it's absolutely not just for "problem" behaviours. Any dog will benefit tremendously from further training and the confidence it brings for them. A final thank you also for being so accommodating in extending Red's stay multiple times when we were stuck interstate over the recent lockdowns. At every step it's been hassle-free and easy to deal with the team and really appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Absolutely cannot fault the guys. Scott and the team have been nothing but supportive thru the time my German shepherd was at train and stay, their communication and care was outstanding. Peter our trainer was very informative as we had behavioural issues which they have helped with and now I take his knowledge with us to continue home training. Highly recommend Homestead Kennels for training if you live in Victoria. Thanks guys you have been amazing

I recently moved from the country to the city and my kelpie puppy began to chase cars and bikes, and pulled really hard on the leash. I was really stressed out and found it difficult to take him for walks, so I sent him to homestead to do the board and train program. The trainers and staff are all angels- very kind, trustworthy, supportive and knowledgeable. My puppy’s trainer David is a kelpie expert and worked magic with my dog. I took him for a walk this morning and he didn’t pull on the lead or try to chase cars or jump on people. He walked politely at heel the whole time- like a different dog ! I’m so happy with the results ! I feel like a weight has been lifted . I would definitely send my puppy back for training or to stay when I go on holidays.
