Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital Monroeville, Pennsylvania

Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital is one of the best clinics I have ever gone to as a pet owner. Dr. Martin and Dr. Tyler are not only skilled, but are genuinely kind and interesting people to talk to -- they have been my vets since I moved to the area years ago, and were one of the few that not only were comfortable seeing my pet rats but also treated these little creatures with the respect they deserve, be it removing a tumor or treating an upper respiratory issue (both common issues in pet rats). They have gone above and beyond, even taking them home to monitor over the weekend when my rats needed some extra care after surgery. I can't recommend them enough if you are looking for a vet in the area.

Love this place!! Veterinarians are so helpful and treat your pet like one of their own. Not too many bunny dr's out there willing to take as patients. This place was the best, kept my bunny over night and cared for him until he was ready to come home.

Dr. Haggerty has been caring for our dogs for over 12 years. She's everything we'd ever want from a doctor. Extremely intelligent, always patient and willing to take her time and share her knowledge at every visit too. She's calm, kind and loving toward our pets. We can definitely tell that she loves what she does and we are blessed to have her as our veterinarian!

The entire staff is outstanding. You can tell they truly like animals and work hard to ensure the best for my cats from their demeanor and efficiency on the phone to treating and caring for my creatures to explaining their diagnosis and prognosis to me, their mom. They take time, listen to me, and show utmost respect to both my cats and me. I feel we work as a team to give the best care, that i get to be part of that. I have worked with Dr. Martin the most in caring for my cats. She has gone above and beyond making herself available when care was critical and at the end of life stage when she and my cat needed her most. I have also worked with Dr. Bill and Dr. Angie and can attest to their varing and teamwork as well. Im so very pleased with this vet setup. I do believe an organization's structure of how they treat people and animals starts at the top down and it shows.

The team at Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital has been phenomenal with all of my guinea pig fur babies. They have always been very friendly and helpful each time we've visited, whether it's just a check up or someone's not feeling well. I'm so thankful to know they're there to help keep my pets happy and healthy!

Dr Tyler is amazing. He takes great care of your pet, and understands your worries about illnesses with your pet. Took excellent care of our cat Pawzers when he had a cancer spot removed from his to tongue.

They can always see my pet in a reasonable time. I've referred several friends who were able to get same day appointments and were very pleased with their services. I'm harder on veterinarians than my own doctors so it says a lot that I respect their opinions and highly recommend them! They give great advice and it shows that the entire staff love animals. Always very professional and knowledgeable!

Fantastic staff who really care! They were able to accommodate us when we weren't sure if we had an emergency on our hands or whether it was just a checkup. Our vet at the time had no openings for a month but Northern Pike was able to fit us in within 48 hours. Turns out had we waited, we would have lost our little girl. VERY appreciative of everything they've done for both of our kids and we will now be switching over to them permanently.

I've taken my now 7 year old Sheltie to these folks before. All staff is helpful and friendly. This time because of COVID, you're not allowed to go in with your pet. Kind of weird, but I understand, even though I've been vaccinated and use a mask. The vet called me and gave me a detailed description of what he saw. I will continue to use NPVH and trust my pet to them. Highly Recommended.

They took great care of my 9 year old Beagle. We paid in full but I will be back in case of another emergency and if I happen to not have the amount of $ and would have to make payments, which they allow! God bless them!

Had an absolutely atrocious experience with my dog's dental surgery, and interactions with the owner of the practice, Dr. Martin, were disturbing, distressing, and bizarre. Though my interactions with other vets here-- Drs. Haggerty (who was our regular vet) and Bill, were terrific. As with other reports here and elsewhere there was a weird thing where I was bizarrely vilified and treated as if I was an abusive person. This was to the extent I wondered if they confused me with someone else. My dog suffered here with really bad post-surgical care, and things that were not-quite-honest. If anyone wants full details PM me, as I documented it as it happened. There is something very wrong here.

The past two times we've taken our dog here (March 2021 and June 2021) I waited over an hour in the parking lot for them to even take the dog in to be seen. The most recent time I spoke with the receptionist after 30 mins and was told someone would be out within 5 minutes. 30 more minutes later and I told them I was leaving since waiting an hour was ridiculous and I needed to get back to work. It frequently takes multiple attempts to reach them by phone, even if you're calling to check in for an appointment. We definitely won't be coming back.

Just a bit disappointed with this practice(not my regular vet) My regular vet East Mckeesport was out that day. So my puppy seemed to have had a blockage. They took my puppy for xrays and seemed positive it was indeed a blockage. A 3 hour surgery i patiently waited for an update. When I called they were closing up. What did they find. NOTHING. Ok so I understand the xray may have appeared that their was a blockage but if you weren't positive why didn't you do an mri. If you didn't have that equipment i would have been happy to go to avets instead of putting a 7 month old puppy through surgery. Dr Angie Thompson. Please do better for the sake of an animal not enduring an unnecessary surgery. The one positive was that Dr Angie took my puppy home with her the night after surgery to monitor her. This practice also seems so busy they can't answer phones without having to call several times. They also forgot about me in the parking lot, I waited 30 minutes before i called and said im waiting to pay my bill. Then when I called to give them a heads up my vet wanted the records, the receptionist woman was like, WHY? I don't usually post negative comments but this was so disappointing and sad my puppy went through a surgery for nothing. Today Dr Angie called, said if it was ok with me send her a text message of her incision to see how it looked. As of now no response back. I had already taken her to my regular vet Monday thankfully.

I have been taking my dogs here for over 15 years. I have always had fantastic service with normal yearly checkups and we normally see Dr. Bill. He always does a very thorough exam of my dogs and has such a gentle demeanor with them. I never feel like he pushes any services that they don't genuinely need and very much get the sense that he has their nothing but their best interest at heart. Love Dr. Bill! On two occasions though, I've had cases of a more severe nature to go to them for. The 1st was several years ago when my dog got into a pack of chewing gum. For those of you not aware, there is a chemical in sugar free chewing gum that is lethal to dogs. Of course this was on a Saturday and instead of being told to go to Avets down the road, Dr. Martin took him and cared for him over the weekend, even right before Christmas. Just recently, my aging dog had to have a double toe amputation. This came to as an upsetting shock to us, but Dr. Martin cared for him through the entire healing process, making sure he didn't have any further setbacks or issues and got him walking again. She is nothing short of a saint. You can tell she truly loves these animals and would do anything for them. I HIGHlY recommend this practice and will never go anywhere else.

Have nothing but good things to say about the staff. Our dog started to have serious problems and we were so worried about her. We were supposed to go down the street to avet but after calling in and speaking with the older woman on the phone who was so ignorant i called npvh and they got her in right away. Unfortunately we lost our poor girl due to health issues and she was an older dog so we had to put her down. We were all so heart broken! The staff was so kind and supportive during the entire process! I even recived a sympathy card from them in the mail today. How thoughtful! I absolutely recommend! Thank you to all of the staff for you kindness and support!

I've been taking my cat to Dr. Judy at Northern Pike Vet for the last year. she's always super good with him, and always friendly. I haven't met her due to Covid, but she's always very informative on the phone and ready to explain anything or help with anything that might be a little confusing. My cat has kidney problems, and she has always been ready to give suggestions for ways to keep him eating and on his diet. I believe that anyone who goes into the veterinary business must really care about animals, but Dr. Judy really goes above and beyond. All of the techs I've met have been really friendly as well, I don't think you can go wrong here. My cat has been really picky with his diet, and we have spent a lot trying to find food he'll eat and they've even given us samples leftover from other picky cats, and I just can't thank them enough. This is a reliable vet office and always make time for us, I'd recommend them to anyone.
