I called to get a price on a spay for my dog and the girl I spoke to was very rude and hung up on me. I’ve never been here, but I’m glad I know not to go there now anyways.

I took my new puppy in and she was seen by Dr. D, whose approach is "no fear." This puppy is not used to many people yet, but she was comfortable with being examined and even getting a vaccine shot. Dr. D responded to my concerns, answered my questions, and made me feel confident that she's the right vet for this puppy. The front office staff got me.in when I called because there was a cancellation, and I appreciated not having to wait a few weeks. They are sweet and knowledgeable, and they take the time to go over medications and instructions.

I have boarded my dog there for years based on friends evaluations of the vet and care they give. Perhaps all that is true. But not when it comes to making money. They overbook and then the dogs there are not given the care needed. When I brought this to their attention- they were rude, so obviously allegations are correct! Is there not a limit on dogs allowed to be boarded? There’s a limit for everything else- everywhere! Dogs should not be overlooked either!!!!

We had to take our dog Sandy to the emergency vet about 2weeks ago. Johnstown vet was the vet on call. They took her right away and diagnosed her problem as pancreatitis. They got her hydrated and gave her the meds she needed. Wonderful place and compassionate people. Within a few days she was back to her old self. I’ll be taking her back. A big thank you for taking care of our baby.

I wanted to take a moment to update my review since three months ago...my heartfelt gratitude and thanks for the dignity, compassion and care provided by JVA during our pet's final days. Dr. Fayez Assad is one of the most compassionate and caring individuals I have ever met. Dr. Assad provided words of comfort and peace of mind at the end of our pet's life. We are truly grateful, and we have the utmost respect and regard for this doctor. A special thanks to Heidi for her assistance and the staff...God bless you for all that you do...(prior post) Johnstown Veterinary Associates provides exemplary client-oriented services with respect, expertise and compassion. First and foremost, the front office staff is highly-skilled and extremely receptive to both the pet-parent and pet-client. Moreover, the entire office is both collaborative and conscientious in their approach to addressing concerns and queries. Heidi epitomizes a true professional in every sense. She very clearly articulates directives with regard to queries about medications upon checkout. Furthermore, one can fully sense that she is highly vested in this veterinary practice and clientele...she is a very valuable member of the team! Likewise, Dr. Sarah Pickett is a superb and valued veterinarian! We presented our 13 year old Boston Terrier with a plethora of questions to Dr. Pickett. She was very attentive and answered every one of our concerns with thoroughness and receptivity. Dr. Pickett is very knowledgeable and the best in her field. We left with the belief that Johnstown Veterinary Associates provides quality care with the highest standards in veterinary services!

My puppy had an emergency on Sunday. I called to see if she could be seen and instead of trying to help they told me to call a vet that wasn't open. Clearly they aren't as worried about people pets as they claim.

I had a boxer who had a very bad skin disorder,.He would have passed away at least 2 years before he did if it wasn't for Dr. Asadhis kind heart and never giving up. I am now taking my new boxer to him and his staff and have all the faith in the world she is in good hands.

My sweet girl Joesie has been a patient here for all 14 years we have had her. They are the BEST. The last 6 months of her life, Joesie has had serious health problems. They have been so helpful. They have been treating her and helping her feel the absolute best she can. On top of that - they have been so kind to me. They know how much my family loves her and have been so supportive. They honestly treat Joesie and her family like we are their family too. The vets, management, technicians, and the girls at the front desk are amazing! Special shout out to Jay - she is the sweetest ???? Thank you for all you have done for our Joesie girl Johnstown Veterinary Associates!

I would not recommend this vet they are very unprofessional uncompassionate and unkind. Not only do they treat the animals crawl but they also speak unkind to the owners. The two offices get their lines of communication mixed up so nothing is handled appropriately you go down there or you do what you’re told to do and then the other side doesn’t know what you’re even there for. Had my cat declawed and fixed neutered and brought him home Saturday had to go back Monday because we couldn’t get his patch off his foot they didn’t shave his foot so we would try to take it off and he growled and cried he was in pain it was ripping his long for off. Also you can tell in this picture when they went down and took it off it still is sore and irritated they said that it did not cause the cat pain when clearly it did. The doctor talked rude to my daughter when I walked in she said how rude the guy was and I said that was the doctor she said why wouldn’t be coming here I said that was the only one that was currently taking animals so he came out and said the cat was done why was I so upset I said because the cat was in pain you didn’t shave the whole area you put it on and caught his for and it’s bad when the cat was already in enough pain he doesn’t need extra torture. Then I asked if he looked at his ear and he said no was I supposed to and the lady at the desk shook her head I said no yeah I when I called the lady said she would put a note on and I had a witness I had her on speakerphone and they said they would make a note there was no note made no documentation so they didn’t know they wouldn’t look at it they said I’d have to make another appointment after we just spent $406 on all the stuff where as if I went to Forest Hills vet or another vet which I’ve done before it never came to $400 just for a neuter that cost $20 and declaw that was 50 how did it come to $406 just not a good place to deal with very rude and unprofessional and uncompassionate. Carisma Sanchez is Sherri Snyder’s daughter. You spoke with me when she was on the phone. It was fine to ask why she was upset but you did have an attitude about it. And getting upset saying u know what your doing. I have never seen someone act like that for real. And for someone to be having an attitude asking me why my moms upset and trying to make her sound like crazy or something. I will not stand for that. Also she has a reason to be upset I got my cat that I have had since I was 8 declawed and his paws never looked like that all bloody and hard and stuff. They also never put the pain patch so hard on. They simply put it on his shaved stomach. But in all seriousness DONT say my employees and such are professionals like I didn’t mention anyone else but the one who is in charge. I see that all your employees are just gonna agree with u ? That’s at any job! But u did have a very bad attitude when all I asked was for u to please just take it off I didn’t need you talking with an attitude this and that and questioning. “A customer is always right.” Have you heard this? Just don’t argue not that simple just say ok. Thanks. Have good day.

I can't tell you enough about how I value the care that my two dogs receive at JVA. They board there and it is so comforting to see the interaction between the staff and my dogs that I take them there. When they get their exams or if there is an issue, they know my dogs and take the time to do a thorough examination. They also accept responsibility for any mistakes that may occur very graciously. They are so accommodating and my dogs love going there and the staff.

The front office manager is wonderful. Also, the Dr's. And the rest of the staff. I feel that my dog gets the best care and all of my questions are answered...

This post is for my parents whose pets were patients at JVA. Dr Assad & his staff have been Professional, Knowledgeable & Compassionate throughout the diagnosis, treatment & ongoing management of their pets who had Cancer & Diabetes. They were informative, understanding & patient especially when dealing with advanced aged clients, explaining all tests, treatments, medications & care in a way my parents could understand without making them feel dumb or inferior. They readily adjusted Insulin & increased pain medication to improve quality of life. When the time came for end of life decisions for each pet, Dr Assad & Dr Pickett were supportive, attentive, & bent over backwards to accommodate their needs. With extreme Gratitude, The Wilhelm Family.

My Irish Setter puppy had a health crisis and I needed an emergency vet and the vet practice I was using did not respond to my call. Dr. Assad called me within minutes, made an emergency appointment to see my puppy, performed tests and determined what had been the issue for weeks that had gone undiagnosed. The cost for an emergency visit was more than fair [much less than the other vet practice], the follow up by the Vet and staff was much appreciated. I have since made JVA my veterinary of choice. Their service is outstanding, their costs the most reasonable in the area, and most importantly they truly love the pets who come to them for care. Mr. Paddy adores the staff and the staff adores him. This very happy owner appreciates all that they do. You can trust them with the care of your pet!

If I could give them more stars, I would. We are here from out of town. We had an emergency situation with our dog. I must have called 15 veterinarians and nobody would help us. They all just " We're not taking in new patients at this time". Despite the fact that our dog was lethargic and bleeding. I had almost given up hope. But then I called these amazing human beings. They didn't have an opening but made one for us anyway. They took amazing care of our sweet puppy. She's home today and better than ever. It's a shame that we don't live up here, they would have lifetime clients. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. My dog thanks them, my family thanks them. They give me faith in humanity.

We have been taking our animals to your vets for a few years now. The staff has always been so friendly and attentive to our questions. Two of our cats have medical issues requiring extra care and medications. Thorin has asthma and needs medication for his cough, and as a stray, Whitey cried and cried at the door for weeks wanting to go back outside, for thats all he knew. Dr Pickett was very knowledgeable explaining to us what to expect on teaching a cat to acclimate to home life. Jay was also there and very helpful. We also have 2 smaller cats you have seen since kittens, Swaylee and Stanley and a dog Lakota. All are taken great care of by your staff!!

Cambria County's only "American Animal Hospital Association" AAHA accredited member is Johnstown Veterinary Associates. We are fortunate to have a local Vet practice that invests their time and money in meeting AAHA's strict quality standards. Thank you Johnstown Veterinary for being available during our time of need!

There are many other vets in the area to take your pets to, avoid this one though. The last time I posted a review on Google the "Dr." actually called me and threated me to remove it. If you get the urge to call me again "Dr.", I strongly advise against it.

Most of the people are very kind here. They will fit you in on very short notice and you can tell they really care for the animals. My first experience was not great. Due to Co-vid funds were a bit tight but I wanted to make sure my babies got the care they needed. The actual vet was very caring and sweet but I dealt with a woman in the front and it was one of the most embarrassing moments I've ever had. When it was time to pay, my card ended up being over drafted (and that's on me not them)I gave them all the cash I had and I still was 40 dollars short (at this point I'm in tears because I wasn't sure what to do and unfortunately I"m paycheck to paycheckright now) I gave them all my info and I heard another lady asking how much she owed on her bill. So I turned back to the receptionist and asked if she could just bill me for the remaining 40 offered to leave my I D, anything. She says no. So I call my fiance and tell him he needs to go to the bank or write a check. Banks were closed so he offered to just write a check. She then tells me you can only pay with a check if you paid with a check there before (if that's the case how does ANYONE ever get to use a check there in the first place!) I tell my fiance the receptionist will not take his check. He is so upset with how this woman is treating me he then tells me to just leave all my info and leave. so I got paid a few days later and thank god it was not that same lady, and I had no issues paying off the rest of my bill. I honestly never felt more embarrassed and discriminated against at an actual business like I did that day with that ONE receptionist. Other than that big hiccup my experience was actually decent and the other employees are very caring and friendly. I can tell they care about the animals. I hope everyone is staying safe out there. & remember to be kind to one another ????

Just switched from Richland vet after my 9yr old cat died from hyperthyroidism because they kept prescribing more methimozle that did nothing for her & my other cat suffers from anxiety/marking and Richland vet did nothing to help her except prescribe gel Prozac and a steroid for elevated calcium and never checked to make sure her levels were normal again. Love Johnstown vet so far! They did tests and found she still had high calcium and crystals in her urine. They prescribed Prozac in pill form and prescription food for her crystals. She’s not done with treatment yet, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Vet techs handle animals roughly. Prices are extremely high compared to other vets in the area and they will add on extra items and charges without asking first. On more than one occasion we came in knowing something very wrong with our dog, but left with a huge bill and no answers. It takes multiple trips to get proper testing and treatments for things that should be taken care of the first time around.

I have been going to this particular Veterinary clinic, now, ever since I got my first dog (he was an 8-week old puppy) here, to get his first exam plus his first series of vaccines, and Baseline tests. I will not go anywhere else, after experiencing, firsthand, the warmth and genuine compassion of all of the Staff Members at this Veterinary clinic. Dr. Assad is an excellent diagnostician, and he really knows what he is doing. Additionally, I must admit I was a bit skeptical, recently, once when the very young Dr. Hammer was the only Dr. available to treat my six-month old puppy, when he had an unknown lump on his neck. My concerns became markedly decreased, after I was informed that she (Dr. Hammer) had studied under Dr. Assad. As well, any remaining concerns were greatly alleviated after I met her at the office visit, where she quickly diagnosed and subsequently treated, my beloved six-month old puppy. I just had this six-month old male puppy neutered here, a different Dr. performed this procedure; and I am very pleased to report that my beloved pup is recovering well from his surgery, although he's not too happy about the E-collar (the upside-down lampshade thingy on his head), but he's adjusting.

To the "office manager": Being new to the area, i am searching for a compassionate veterinarian practice that can be trusted and gentle with my 10 year old newly adopted amazing dog. After reading all of the reviews i have come to the conclusion that you are very unprofessional and very defensive. I have never encountered or read reviews where an office manager calls people in addition to responding online. That's a bit much. Especially in such a spiteful way. You're very argumentative to say the least. This behavior screams that you are not only unprofessional and spiteful but also extremely inconsiderate of people's feelings when their pet is in need of med attention. WOW. Just wow. Im in a state of utter disbelief, disgust and horror. I came into this with zero knowledge of Johnstown Veterinarian, and now i will be sure not to bring my precious fragile best friend to your establishment.
