Thanks for helping our guy Maverick tonight! I am so thankful for this service in our area. Everyone complaining about the cost and wait times must not be realistic of the shortage of vet care in our area currently.

Absolutely horrible! All the staff is rude. They charge way too much, they don’t get authorization for anything they do, and they tell you that your pet is fine. All labs X-rays etc are good. You drive back home, 2 hours and the dog is worse. They tell you to go elsewhere because you tell them stuff they don’t to hear. They said they hope my dogs dies, when I called them back and they hung up on me….after charging $800!!!

I have a 2 year old mix dog named Joey. Unfortanetly joey got into a bag of onions. Wich is toxic and extremely fatal if enough is ingested. He was throwing up. I called cpvet for emergency care as it was 9 at night and they are the only emergency service open at that hour. 2 hours away from our home. When I called, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude. Said they would not take him. I said he needs seen, what am I supposed to do. She told me I had to call poison control for pets, and just so know they charge 75 dollars just to talk to me on the phone. Told me joey was "just an animal". So I called the number payees the 75, got the referral because poison control said it was serieios and an emergency matter. Drove 2 hours to this emergency hospital, for them to again be very rude. Needed 175 dollars before they would see him. Wich we had, but where treated like we wouldn't pay. They took joey in about an hour later. We waited outside. For 4 and a half hours. I called revery hour. For them to tell me they would be out shortly. All they needed to do was blood work. When they finally did the blood work, that 2as 186 dollars more. As well as fluids and some shot. By time it was said and done it came to nearly 500 dollars. When they finally came 9ut to tell us we owe. The woman was so rude. Tapped the piece of paper like we where with holding the payment. She literally just came out and we had to run to the bank. I told her we would rush to it. She then told me we would not be aloud back there again with my attitude. I said give me my dog. She said give us our money. The money we only just found out about that second. We got the money, came back and I recorded the woman as I asked for a detailed review. Suddenly she was kind...because she was being recorded. We got our baby and left. I will never go back there again. I've never been treated so badly for simply wanting to get my dog some help. It was life threatening. And we still have to go get more blood work from our local vet. 4 hours of driving, 4 and a half hours of waiting, with kids in the car. No bathroom. And cold. While being treated horribly. I wish I could talk to someone besides this . That woman needs fired. If your gonna work with our fur babies, then make sure you actually like and have compassion for them. My joey best not die. I geus ill find out from the local vet when I call , causei definitely don't trust a word any of them said at this hospital. We literally just got home. 715am

They absolutely saved our dog on a Saturday when our vet wasn't available. They took great care of her and called us twice a day. We are very grateful for that. However, the surgery and two day stay was $6,000. I really think this is taking advantage of vulnerable people. It will take us a long time to pay this off. Our vet agreed it was extremely over priced.

If I could give no stars I would. Refused to even examine my rabbit on the grounds the vet is allergic. Vet tech said it was just an animal. They are the only vet in this area trained to care for rabbits, due to this we where referred he by every vet in the area for emergency care. My pet rabbit of 8 years dead non peacefully.

Unfortunately you have to leave 1 star! I waited to leave this post due to my being emotional! Brought my cat here on Sunday afternoon because he was vomiting. They were aware of us coming because I did the intake online. Pull in the parking lot and called as instructed and asked the nurse if they could please come get him that he looked very sick, the nurse then spoke to me as if I were a child about the meaning of "Emergency Hospital". The Doctor was nice, she advised me that the x-ray and blood panel were normal that she thought he ate something that did not agree with him! IV fluids and anti nausea medication were administered. I was so relieved and I thanked her so much for what she did. We leave around 5:15 pm and I immediately had to call them back to ask why Julius was still vomiting and the nurse again like I were a child stated that the medicine will take effect around 5:30 pm and that if he vomited between 5:30pm and 5:30 pm I was to call them. So hundreds of dollars and 16 hours later my baby boy was found dead in our foyer! Wow! So I call asking for an explanation. I was told it was pretty much my fault! Even though they never did a tox screen for a cat vomiting profusely. No refund or even partial refund was offered. So in short I now have a new weekly hobby with a large group of friends! I am having posters of my boy made and we are going to stand along the road and tell people the truth about CPV Vets. It is a blatant money racket with no bedside manner whatsoever. If you love your animals at all do not go here! Beware of this place. Go to Metzger's or anywhere else for that matter. I have had some pretty horrible service in my life but this is the first time I have ever felt the need to leave a review of this magnitude. I loved my cat Julius with all my heart. He would be 12 years old in 2 weeks. Ty and good luck! They killed my Julius!!!!

We currently have 3 dogs, and our most recent visit to CP Vets was mid-September 2021. It just took me a bit to make time to write this review, which I very much wanted to do because we received outstanding service- so much so that even weeks later I still feel so grateful. We had to take one of our dogs in for a gash on her side which required a few staples. Dr. Kayla Kerstetter explained everything so well to my husband and me, it felt like she knew exactly what our concerns would be and addressed them before we even thought of the questions! We appreciated CP Vets service and level of professionalism while still being able to be personable so much that I wish we could have Dr. Kerstetter as our regular vet. A very late shout out: Before our 3 dogs, we had a small cockerspaniel that we took to CP Vets over 6 years ago. Very unexpectedly and sudden, he passed that day. It was such a difficult experience, and it must be so hard for the staff to see folks go through that every day- saying good bye to their fur family member. I want to say I also really appreciate the entire staff, even from 6+ years ago when we went through that. They were all very understanding, respectful, caring, and sensitive to what we were going through.

Horrible vets. Who tells someone that they can’t help you. They told me to make my cat comfortable until she passes her babies or pass away. Like wth. Who says that. They only care about money. Never take your pets here. Will be suing.

Told that my gecko would be fine and was hopeful he would live the rest of his 14 years. Contacted them about his conditions the night before and told he was okay. He passed away the next day. Waste of an exam for him to not actually be okay.

When our dog Buzz had some issues for two days pertaining to a dangerous low blood glucose level, the staff here were able to get him on the road to recovery as a head start. Given the nature of this animal hospital, they choose to prioritize some cases over others, which makes sense. They took our dog right away and began treatments and tests. If I had anything negative to say, it boils down to a few main points. The wait times were a bit long, which is tolerable given the nature of the business, the hours are a bit strange; we had to either pick up our dog and transport him somewhere else due to CPVets closing at 7:30 am, or as we ended up doing, taking him to Metzger's at 9 PM that same day. The Covid measures too are a bit off-putting as you must wait in your car and wear a mask during communication as staff run in and out of the building. I get its in the name of safety, but if Metzger's allows people to enter, even without a mask, then I wouldn't see harm in CPVets allowing to do the same, but its their choice to enforce this sort of policy. Due to his limited time here, the bulk of his treatments came from Metzger's who discovered other various issues. In any case, I still appreciate CPVets for being here and able to tend to Buzz for the 3 hours he was in their care. They were able to get him on the road to recovery and facilitate the transfer to Metzger's for us. After 6 days, he's back to a stable condition as we closely monitor his health going forward.

We had to bring our furry little big boy up here tonight. The staff was soo kind to us. They set our mind at ease soon as we talked to the Doctor. I will bring my furry babies here again for all emergencies.

They refused life saving treatment of my nieces dog causing the dog to die. They were extremely rude and all they cared about was the money. I don’t understand why work with animals if you don’t actually care

I personally am not happy with this place at all. I had called them to tell them my cat needed to be seen today because she couldn’t eat or drink anything without getting sick. she is very dehydrated and was throwing up and going to the bathroom constantly. Long story short we got there and waited for 3 hours for my pore kitten which isn’t even a year old yet to be taken in which never happened!! This is supposed to be an animal hospital, where they take care of our pets, and just the fact that after I called them to ask how much longer the wait was going to be, they couldn’t even tell me whatsoever. Believe me I know things are hard for a lot of businesses out there because of the pandemic we are currently facing but that is no excuse for what happened to me and my kitten tonight, it’s just something that has me so furious and I definitely won’t be coming back here in the near future!!

We have been here twice now unfortunately. The first time my dog had a bad allergenic reaction. They got him the treatment we needed and we’re on our way home in a few hours. This past Monday we weren’t as lucky. Although the situation was difficult they were very open about the options we had. And would do whatever we felt was necessary. Gave us the time we needed and were supper great with the whole situation.

Like most of the other 1-star reviews, our check - in experience was less than great. We needed to bring our dog here for one overnight stay after an emergency surgery at our primary vet. This was during COVID, so I understand staying in a vehicle, but the lack of compassion at check in when we're worried about a pet and all the upfront estimations of costs and the DNR clause were extremely overwhelming. That being said, this is one of very few after-hours and emergency pet vet clinics in the area, there were several cars/pets/owners in the parking lot and we could hear chaos over the phone inside the clinic when talking to inside reception/techs at check in. I suspect our Friday night at 7pm check in was prime time for emergencies in the area. I called around 11pm to check on our dog and the overnight receptionist and techs were helpful answering how our dog was doing and took the time to check our dog's chart and update us on progress and medication. They called us right at the 12-hr mark and let us know how he was doing, asked us to come by sometime that morning for him, but did not rush us in and were helpful answering questions. Pickup was also okay. The overcharged us for the estimation of costs and were helpful and accommodating with squaring up the bill. We also have pet insurance and they were helpful and accommodating with making sure we had the appropriate invoice to submit for insurance and I believe they may have had to email or fax something themselves to our insurance on our behalf.

We are visiting from out of town/state. Our dog developed a cough late last night. We called this morning and were strongly encouraged to bring him in for an evaluation. 1) We filled out the forms online and were seen faster than people who waiting in the parking lot who had not done so. 2) The staff was friendly, sympathetic, and accommodating. 3) We spoke directly with the doctor after he had examined her dog and agreed on a course of treatment which we began to implement right away. 4) While he is still coughing some, the medicine appears to be helping. The treatment for dehydration has been clearly effective as he has more energy and he’s more himself. Bottom line: When you are away from home, and have to drive an hour and a half or more to get medical care for a loved pet, you have high expectations. Ours were met, and exceeded. On behalf of the canine and his human parents, we thank you.

We came in to Penn State from Ohio to give a rescue kitten to her new family. Unfortunately she started having issues at the hotel, and thank God we were able to bring her here that night. The staff and vets were very diligent about getting her medical history. They were able to identify pretty quickly that she was having an allergic reaction and also had a skin infection. The vet came out to the car (Covid protocol) and explained everything and made sure we were okay with the course of action. They kept her for the night so we could sleep, and we were able to take her home on meds the next day. About a week later, the same vet who took care of her called me to discuss how she was doing, and go over her biopsy results. They really seem to care - thank God they were right there. We followed the plan, and she's doing great now!

Horrible place. Idk how those people sleep at night. My dad and I brought our dog in while she was dying and gasping for air. After she died they wanted him to leave me there as collateral while he ran to the bank to get the rest of their money. They could care less about your animal, it's all about the money to them. $500 for less than 30 minutes of their time.

Excellent service! I give credit to all the veterinarians and staff at CPVETS. They can be busy at times, but always give you and your pet the special care that is needed. My regular vet is in the process of moving clinics, so CPVETS have been a huge help for the past week! Thank you for everything you do! It’s always nice to have an emergency clinic you can trust when your regular vet is out for a couple of weeks. I also LOVE how Dr. Tartaglino was able to get in contact with my regular vet to discuss treatment and medication options. Dr. Tartaglino is an outstanding DVM!! Thank you!! I definitely recommend this clinic!!

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE! They only care about making a profit not thoroughly treating your pet. Overcharging and treating clients disrespectfully. Should be shut down

Wonderful place. Had an emergency with our bunny on a Sunday morning, this was the closest place (2 hours away) that would take him. Although they were very busy they still got him in as fast as they could, and worked with us on a price that worked for us while still having our bunny taken care of properly. They were very kind & professional, definitely recommend if your pet needs emergency care.

The vet we regularly take our animals to was unavailable to perform a csection on my dog. Because it was the middle of the night an emergency center was our best option and my girl received amazing care here! The staff was so incredibly friendly, talked through all of our options with me, and kept me updated every step of the way. In previous experience many emergency vets are most concerned about how you are paying for your visit, but I did not get this impression at all from CPVETS. I truly felt like my dogs well being and her puppies well being was their top priority! Thank you for your help and wonderful care of my girl and her 3 perfect puppies!
