very pleased with my experience at Shores. over the past few months, I found myself taking my kitty to Shores rather frequently due to an unknown illness. they validated my concerns and kept him in their hospitalization unit for about 2 days. I was told that I could call whenever I wanted to check on him. sometimes it was 6am, sometimes 4pm, sometimes 1am. every person that answered the phone, no matter what shift, was very kind and considerate. the night receptionist even remembered my name. they also recommended a bigger hospital in Lancaster that was able to do more extensive testing. after a long battle, the other hospital gave my baby the diagnosis of irreversible neurological damage and recommended he be put to sleep. we took him to Shores for the euthanasia process. the staff was very kind and sympathetic. they explained the process to me to make sure that I was aware of what the medicines were for and what was going to happen. they allowed me as much time as I needed to say goodbye. afterwards, they gave me an imprint of his paws in a shadow box with a beautiful poem on the top. about a week later, I picked up his ashes. they were put in a beautiful wooden box with an engraved name plate. they also mailed me a card with a handwritten note and signatures from the whole team. of course I am deeply saddened by the loss of my baby, but the Shores team definitely made it easier. I wanted to express my gratitude for everything they did for me. Thank you, everyone!

Last night my dog Ollie ate some of my prescription medication. Shores Emergency Animal Hospital saved his life. I for sure thought my dog would die. They saved my dogs life and for that we will sing their praises forever. He is home already today resting and recovering. Thank you to all that helped with his care last night. You are all angels to me. Melissa Dixon- Ollie's Momma

Ended up having to bring both of my dogs in at the same time for emergency care and am very happy with the service we received. The staff kept us informed through the entire process and took good care of our dogs.

My cat has a broken paw, we were denied and told to treat at home..... then when I asked for something to calm my cat down for the ride (30 mins both ways) she told me no. Mind you we called ahead and they told us just to call when we were in the parking lot. When we called they said they were at full capacity.... not sure how that works but ok thanks shores

My dog hurt his paw pretty badly on a Saturday morning. I called ahead to Shores emergency vet off of Union deposit Rd. At Sir Thomas Court and they took in my pre-check in information and warned me of the long wait which I completely understood as it is an emergency vet and it is a weekend. Once you get to their facility they have numbered parking spots for you to parking and you call back again to let them know you have arrived due to Covid precautions you stay in your car with your pet. The vet tech could not have been more customer service friendly or attentive as she came out to our car way earlier than expected as we were low on the triage list which I completely understood my dog did not have a life threatening emergency. The tech came out again to let us know we would soon have a room and kept us updated on our status. With Covid they even have a porta potty in the parking lot which is much appreciated as we have to wait in our cars. Once in a room the place is very spacious the entire staff is friendly and the vet, who is working alone Dr. Miller, gave us her full attention when she was in the room with us and was very respectful and kind. They took excellent care of us there and I truly appreciate their services. I would highly recommend then I would take any of my animals back there and I would tell friends if they need an emergency vet, always hoping no one does, I would recommend going to Shores. I find it sad that some people complain of the weight but then again we live in a society that complains when they have to wait two minutes for anything. Be happy if you’re on the lower end of triage that means your dog or pet is not in a life-threatening emergency , And they are attending to those whose lives are in danger first. I’m just thrilled to have such a service in our area available to me 24/7 to assist my pets.

My 5 year old chihuahua was having trouble breathing and walking funny, and the regular vet couldn't get us in for an appointment until the next week. They suggested Shores, and I am so glad that I brought her there! They were extremely helpful over the phone, explained wait time and instructions for when we got there. My baby ended up needing oxygen right away, and though it broke my heart to have her taken away, our technician was very caring and gentle with her. Dr.Lupole was extremely thorough in explaining my girl's condition, which turned out to be fluid around the lungs. She was very detailed and willing to answer all of our questions, and was very patient with me as I bawled my eyes out. Dr.Lupole and Dr.Moser along with the technicians worked tirelessly to give my baby the care she needed, which included xrays, bloodwork, ultrasounds, and three chest taps to drain fluid. The staff was so kind and patient, even as I called every two or three hours to check up while she was hospitalized. They made sure to keep open communication and let me know as soon as I could come get her to bring her home. They brought my chihuahua out to me and gave very clear instructions for care after discharge, explaining over the phone and giving me a written copy. They also gave us an itemized list of all charges. I would highly recommend them for any emergencies your pets may have, they took great care of us.

My precious, sweet cat, Aslan, passed away after 13 wonderful years of companionship on October 28. Shores was very kind and professional and did what they could to help him at the end, and to help me through the shock of his diagnosis. I miss my Azzie, but these people were so wonderful. I loved the card they all signed and sent to me too. His poor Mom, Gracie, was diagnosed with cancer a few days later by my regular vet and will soon join her baby boy across the Rainbow Bridge. If Gracie needs emergency care in the meantime, I will surely return to Shores

One word. Amazing. They were able to get me in right away to put down my cat. She was seizing & couldn’t walk & after my vet refused to help, I came immediately here. They were SO kind, so helpful, and sympathetic to my situation. The doctor who put her down stayed with me and told me everything would be okay. They offered me a lock of her hair & her paw prints. & then a week later, I received a card in the mail that their whole staff signed saying their condolences. I will recommend this place with flying colors. I thank the staff so so much again for everything.

The dr and team were compassionate and extremely understanding during my emergency visit. They provided all of the options for me so that I could make the best decision for Lily during a very difficult time and under unusual circumstances. Was taken in immediately. The vet tech and dr. were down to earth, candid, and consultative. This means a lot, especially for my analytic and sometimes paralytic thought process during certain situations. Unfortunately, the prognosis was not good, which I kind of already knew, but there was irrational / hopeful thoughts in the back of my mind. I couldn’t make the decision to put her down at the time and the staff understood and came up with options. Lily passed at her home the following day. I had to take her to shores to confirm because the normal vet wouldn’t take me without an appt. A nurse from shores was nice enough to come out to the car and check on Lily and confirmed her passing. IMO, Very reasonably priced for the time spent with the dr, nurses/tech, and recommendations. Feel like I received a lot of value during a difficult time. In addition, the entire staff mailed out a personally signed sympathy card which was really thoughtful.

Brought our dog in for a suspected UTI which was confirmed. The staff were so incredibly helpful and kind. They answered all our questions and never made us feel rushed or not cared for. They were patient and even informed our normal vet of their care of Jake that night which was so appreciated. They called the day after to check in on Jake which we also appreciated. Your pet will be well cared for here.

I love the people here. When my cat Murphy got sick we took him here back in 2019 and was told he had kidney disease and other things, they helped us make a decision to put him to sleep and they explained everything and made sure he was comfortable the entire time. This time around my friends cat Socks was just there about 4 times and we also had to put him down, everyone here was SO kind to her. even the vet who put him down talked to him like he was still there after he passed when she picked him up to do his pawprints. You all do an amazing job there & are all so kind to both people and animals. included in my review is socks (gray) and murphy (black)

I don't understand how an emergency animal hospital is "at capacity" but thanks for not helping my dog.

Honestly, I wish I could give this place a higher rating but I just can’t. On Wednesday morning, I called and brought my incredibly ill dog to their hospital. After waiting almost two hours, I decided to take him elsewhere. My dog was losing blood and we couldn’t figure out why. Later that night, he was peeing blood. He wouldn’t move, his skin was turning yellow. I took him to another emergency center who then told me he needed to be hospitalized and Shores was the closest pet emergency center that could do so. Reluctantly, I took him there. We got there around 8-9PM and I did not get to see him until 2AM when they told me it would be ok to take him home even tho his red blood cell count was at 20 ( normal is 35-45). I brought him to a check up elsewhere the next day. His blood cell count had fallen to 11 overnight… they recommended I take him to PETS in Lancaster instead. PETS asked me why Shores did not hospitalize him the night before. I was baffled because they said he should’ve been hospitalized and taken care of by medical professionals on Wednesday night. We did a blood transfusion but it was too late and I lost my best friend on Friday.. he began having seizures and blood clots in his brain.. I keep wondering if Shores had only hospitalized him when they were supposed to, if he would have survived. My only regret is taking him to shores and not PETS that night.. then they had the audacity to call me 4 DAYS!!! after our visit to ask me how my puppy is doing.. I would never recommended this place to anyone. I believe they only wanted my money. My puppy was only 3 years old..

10/10 Just recently we had to take our dog into the ER. Our dog was scheduled for a surgery with our primary vet unfortunately leading up we noticed a significant change in her behavior/health. Since this was in the evening and they were not open we were suggested to go to Shores by family. I called ahead to inform them of the situation and was told to bring her in. We had a very short wait until we were in a room and speaking with the doc. She ran some tests and took some pictures and gave us some meds. The doc was very kind and informative, she really made sure we understood what she was finding. She noticed something on her X-ray and suggested that we follow up with our primary vet office and that they would send over everything from that appointment. A day or so went by and we unfortunately received "that" call from our office that no pet parent wants to hear. I was discussing what to do and all of our options with our vet. We came to the very hard decision that we would be having to put our best friend down. After spending the evening with our pup, again our office was closed. So I reached out to Shores to explain them the situation and they remembered me from the last appointment. It felt like I've been taking my dog there for years yet only being there once. They were so compassionate and understanding on the phone while they explained the entire process to me and making sure I didn't have any questions unanswered. We arrived and they brought us right in and we were able to be there with our best friend until the very end. Such a nice comfortable setting with absolutely no rush from staff. Again everyone that I was in contact with while there was nothing but the most compassionate, understanding, and loving staff. It's been a week today that we had to say goodbye and I just received a card from the entire office personally signed by the staff. For being one of the roughest moments to endure I'm so fortunate for the experience Shores provided us to have. I don't know/remember everyone's names but you all deserve credit. Thank you for making that night a little less painful.

I cannot thank Shores enough. This place is absolutely incredible and you can be assured your pets will be taken care of. My cat Jameson went in incredibly sick and needed oxygen urgently. They took him in immediately. They were so thorough, kind, and compassionate. You could tell they genuinely care for your pets. I thought I was going to lose my baby last night and they saved his life. Right now he is home and doing absolutely incredible after basically on the brink of death last night. They kept me updated while he stayed overnight and told me i could call them whenever to check in on him. Even taking him home, they said to call if I had any concerns and to please feel free to bring him back if I feel I need to. Thank you to all the amazing vets and vet techs who saved my baby, I could not be any more grateful and appreciate all the care you’ve shown me and my Jameson! ❤️

Very professional and caring staff. My wife and I struggled with the decision to say goodbye to our boy Lenny. We kept wondering if this was the right time or if we should wait a little longer. We decided to take him in and had the Doctor check him out. After having an emotional discussion with the doctor, we made the final decision to say our last goodbye. She was wonderful in assuring us we made the right decision. He wasn’t going to get better but he wasn’t suffering either. It was a tough day for our family but everyone there went above and beyond. It was a very peaceful goodbye and he spent his last moments snuggled in my arms. My family and I want to thank the staff for making this sad time feel so special to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

This is gonna be a long one but I just need to let everyone know... I feel very blessed to live next to Shores Veterinary Emergency Center. I have used their services quite a few times over the past few years on three separate fur children. One dog was paralyzed and unable to hold her bowels, I had to carry her in... I was in a full blown panic. Within an hour and a half I was out the door with answers, THOROUGH and VERY PROFESSIONAL guidance along the whole process. There was no question in costs at any point. The same for my other dog, he was not walking and his spine was curved. They did not see anything in xrays, but they still had a care plan knowing he wasn't comfortable. Again, the meds they gave helped whatever was going on and he is happy and playful again. And today, I came in with my boy cat. And I guess boys will be boys, he has a fractured back leg. Told candid conversations, very professional, and again, affordable for what was happening with my animal at the time. If I ever have an emergency with my animals, I will always call Shores first. Thank you Shores for all that you do, you and your team have kept my family and animals very happy, safe, and secure. We appreciate you very much!

I can not thank Shores Veterinary Emergency Center enough for the wonderful care they gave to my 8 year old pitbull, Rylee, after a really nasty case of hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. After getting desperate to find a vet that would take her, they were quick to get her in. Every person I talked to was friendly, informative, and provided efficiency through every step of this difficult process. Their facility is also very nice and clean! Highly recommend for any type of pet emergency! I will not waste my time or money with anyone else. ????????????

I called Shores Vet Emergency and spoke with Patty both times and she was SO HELPFUL and kind as I was anxiously trying to figure out how to take care of a stray kitten I found! She was very thorough and patient in explaining what I needed to get supplies-wise and what to look out for health-wise before taking him to my “regular” vet (as it was after-hours for my regular ver!). I HIGHLY recommend them…THANK YOU SO MUCH, PATTY!!!
