Was here to take Riley to her follow up with Dr. Salas. Love this place. Love the staff and Drs. Everyone is courteous.

This review is long-overdue. I brought my senior cat to Blue Pearl (VSEC at the time) in October 2019, as he was having some labored breathing and seemed unstable in his walking. It was after-hours, so his regular vet could not see him. I called ahead to be sure of where I was going (I was very panicked) and from the first phone call, every person who spoke to me was super patient and calm and understanding. We came in just after midnight and he was checked in. After an exam, I was brought back to meet with a doctor to decide what options we had, and we decided to do some more testing and for him to stay overnight, so he could be seen in the morning instead of having to schedule for another day. Picked him up in the morning and we had a follow-up scheduled for roughly 1 or 2 weeks later after treating with some antibiotics and steroids and pain meds at home. At follow-up exam, we discussed (again) the plan for surgery in order to perform some biopsies. I was given a high and low end of a price estimate, and we decided to admit him that day for surgery that afternoon. I received a phone call mid-surgery, as they had found a blockage and needed my permission to fix that. I returned to pick him up the next day. Following biopsies, they discovered lymphoma in multiple organ tissue samples and made recommendations for Philadelphia-area Veterinary hospitals with Oncologists on staff (there was not an Oncologist on staff at the time). [our home Vet had an oncologist on staff at the time, so that was where we went to start treatment; she has since retired and we plan to return to Blue Pearl to meet with Dr. Kim] During our visits, we met with Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Salas, and were treated with kindness and patience through all of our visits and phone calls.

Avoid at all costs. This place is negligent. Brought our dog here with severe infection of the paw. Told they and all their hospitals in the area were at capacity. Told they would not see our dog. Upon pleading they took our dogs vitals, claimed a doctor quickly looked over him and brought him out to us. Also told us they were closing for day (website says 24 hours). Told to come back on Tuesday (it was Sunday). Got home frustrated and called our vet who called us back. Told us not to take our pup to Vsec hospitals in area because they are have some sort of trouble. I am trying to keep this review as professional as I can but it’s really hard to do so. This place is horrible and does absolutely nothing to help people and their pets in an emergency. Shame on you.

Our dog had an ear infection at 9:30 pm on Saturday, Sept 18th. We were referred to this place by our vet in case something ever happened during the evening or weekends when he’s closed. When we called we were told they no longer have weekend evening hours. Their hours are misrepresented on the website. This needs to be updated. Good luck finding a 24/7 vet around the Conshy, Plymouth, Lafayette Hill, KOP, and Norristown areas if you have an emergency. Hickory in Plymouth Meeting is no longer a 24/7 hospital. Vets leave at 9 pm now. Metropolitan in Norristown was so backed up there was a 10 hour waiting list just to walk in the door. Another vet hospital in Frazier was filled to capacity. Considering the ever growing population in this area and the number of dogs alone you see while out walking that there aren’t more 24/7 vet hospitals open. As I said earlier, good luck if your pet has an emergency during off hours.

We could not fit our entire review. We had a very frustrating and upsetting experience that I think could help others. You can read our complete story on Blue Pearl's yelp reviews but below I have summed it up/given advice... To sum up/give advice: 1. If your dog is diagnosed with anything relating to the heart and you plan to admit your dog at any time, you should go to a hospital with a cardiologist. Cardiology appointments are about 7 weeks out right now but if you admit your dog in the evening at a a hospital with a cardiologist, your dog can see the cardiologist the following day! Metropolitan has a cardiologist as do some of the other Blue Pearl locations. Of course if your dog can wait at home for the appointment that is best, but I would certainly not admit your dog for overnight treatment to anywhere without a cardiologist! 2. We paid for a radiology report and X-ray that we never received. The indication was that we would receive the radiology report on the 27th. When we called the front desk person was not apologetic or seemingly interested in helping us. We still do not have it 9 days later. The reports may have helped save our dog or altered her final days. Regardless, this is not an acceptable business practice. I do not think it is a result of intentional fraud but a result of being understaffed and disorganized. Blue Pearl should be upfront with timing. Even just a bit of an apology would have been well received in our time of helplessness. 3. At least in our experience with Blue Pearl and Metropolitan over the course of 5 days with the same dog, it seems Blue Pearl is understaffed and overcharging. 4. And the less exact but saddest point: Our dog may have been misdiagnosed by Blue Pearl. We cannot know for certain, and it is unclear whether other doctors at other hospitals would have gotten it correct and even if they had if the result would have been different, but there are certainly questions. The doctor at Metropolitan did not agree with the Blue Pearl diagnosis. We did not have the radiology report from Blue Pearl to help diagnose and we put our dog down with no diagnosis. We understand medicine is complex and that dogs all leave us and we don't intend to be unrealistic. But we watched our dog go from eating, running and generally thriving, to put down in less that 5 days. The entire time form start to finish the doctors at Blue Pearl maintained that it was unlikely our dog would die (or need to put her down) during this situation. They called her "stable" and sent her home to us with lots of optimism. Our dog received an X-ray on June 26th and supposedly June 28th before they recommend she come home. Metropolitan took an x ray on June 30th and said it was so much worse in regard to fluid in lungs than the X-ray on June 26th. This makes us wonder what Blue Pearl was looking at on the 28th and if they missed something. Perhaps we could have more aggressively gotten the fluid out before she entered distress on the 30th. We understood that with her age and heart failure our girl was entering her final chapter, but we just wanted a few good months which all seemed optimistic we would get and maybe more! For us, even if there were no good treatment options, having all the info in front of us with a more clear understanding of what happened and a day or two at home with planned at home euthanasia before she worsened would have been much preferred to spending her last few days in the hospital. Again we know there are no guarantees and medicine is complicated, but it did not seem like Maggie got the best chance of successful treatment or the correct diagnosis which may have resulted in her coming home with at home euthanasia. We are left with confusion, frustration, regret, and so much sadness. 5. We did not really want to hear from Blue Pearl after everything that happened and while we were grieving, but I do know many hospitals reach out or send a sympathy card or express condolences or something. We have not heard from them in any capacity.

My Frenchie was sent here for an emergency visit by her primary vet due to ingestion of a foreign object resulting in vomiting. They thought she had a blockage, so they sent her for an emergency ultrasound. The staff were friendly and courteous, they showed genuine concern for my pet. Due to Covid restrictions, I was not able to go in with my dog for her visit, but they called me regularly and kept me informed. They let me know it would be a few hours, that I could leave and come back when she was ready. I gave them 5-stars, but was taken aback when they told me the price for the service. I feel you are at their mercy, you aren't going to shop around when there is an emergency. What would happen if you cannot afford the service? There was no payment plan. Pricing aside, they fixed my little girl right up and she was able to pass what was troubling her the next morning due to the medication provided to her by the hospital. She is now happy and healthy again!

When my vet told me my cat needed to see a specialist, I called BluePearl in Conshohocken first, and they fit me in two weeks later. My experience with them was fantastic! They still do curbside drop off unfortunately, but they make up for it! The doctor called me ahead of time to get to know about my cat and explained the whole process that was going to happen at the appointment. Dr. Radwanski in the dermatology department there was fantastic! My cat didn’t come home stressed like he usually is at the vet. Definitely will go back if I need to!

Took my cat there because she was having convulsions. All kinds of tests and $3000.00 later non conclusive. They said epilepsy and put her on pills. Long story short I finally get an appointment with my vet but not for 3 weeks. I have 1/2 a pill left. They wouldn't give me a refill....not even a few pills to hold me until the appointment. My vet said they should have. My vet won't do it without seeing my cat. So I'm left with 3 weeks in which my cat is likely to have a few convulsions. Well, I guess they figured they milked me for all they can. They certainly aren't caring. Well, they ended up coming thru for me when my vet called to confirm I have an upcoming appointment. So I'm able to continue the meds for my Cat...my mind is at ease.

I felt compelled to leave a review due to the excellent service we received here. I would highly recommend them. We were here three times with our cat and when we had to say goodbye to her in the end they were very accommodating letting all five of us say goodbye to her together. They helped us through a heartbreaking time and were very compassionate and lead us through it with obvious compassion and experience.

I understand that by nature an Emergency Vet will have emergencies pop up but surely there is a better way to communicate with your customers while the doctors are tending to bigger cases. Often left waiting in the parking lot for long stretches with conflicting updates between Doctors and Techs. I appreciate the services done to my pet. I am grateful for their knowledge and care. I am very uninspired by their customer service process. Please give more precise updates.

I had to take my dog here because it was the closest Pet ER to my location. They took my dog in quickly but are still operating on strict COVID measures, which to me is bs. They diagnosed my dog with cancer and a brain clot. They gave me two options but I felt that they pushed me towards a specific option. Eventually they did let me in because it was end of life and I was able to spend time with my dog and they honored my requests. However, when it came time for me to pick up my dog's ashes, they stated they would have two cement prints of my dog's paws. Their system said they were made but no one could find them. I was told they would contact me and no one ever did. I called the crematory to confirm I actually had my dog's remains and not someone elses. To me, they had one job and they failed at it.

The job is well done, but I think the price tag is really big. The only thing I really didn't like was the photo of my cat in outfit. She was already more stressed. Why do this, I do not understand.

Competent and caring. No one wants to need after hours or emergency care for their animals, but it is reassuring to have a local option with genuinely kind staff who clearly care about the animals. Wish we could go in with them but understandable in the current pandemic.

I brought my cat here for a CT to diagnose a nasal tumor. The doctor and staff are all super professional and really care. The cost estimate was clear up front, and the final cost was within the expected range. I continue to come back for Leo's ongoing medication and I am always happy with how I'm treated.

I never let my dog stay overnight. I called the staff for updates and they had ZERO attitude towards me makes me feel so happy we came here. Every time they made sure to make me feel like he is safe. My fur baby seemed very calm when he got out and didn’t seem scared that’s how I know they really cared about and for him. Yes it’s expensive- emergency visits usually are. But honestly it seemed they were very interested in my dog and us understanding what is going on. We spoke directly to the doctor several times and everyone was so patient. Thank you to everyone who works here. Thank you for all that you do.

We found VSEC because our 6-month-old kitten ran into something in our house and ripped his lower eyelid. When we brought him to the emergency vet, they suggested we take him to VSEC of Conshohocken to meet with their ophthalmology team. And THANK GOODNESS we did. Dr. Hsu is a miracle worker!!! They had a packed schedule or surgeries for the day but squeezed us in. Prior to this, time was not working in our favor and by getting him on that schedule, Dr. Hsu and her team saved my kitten's eye. After surgery our little kitten already looked amazing and was bouncing around. I can't imagine how she did what she did on such a little eye. Dr. Hsu took the time to explain what was happening and what needed to happen both before and after the surgery. She listened to all of our questions and answered them patiently. In addition, Angelica was so good to us and our pet. She is a kind, wonderful soul and took our kitten completely under her wing. Gina greeted us with a smile every time we saw her. I just know in my heart that this place truly cares about animals and will go out of their way to help, which can be hard to find these days. Our kitty is home recouping after getting his stitches out today, and we can't be happier with his progress. THANK YOU Dr. Hsu, Angelica, Gina, and the entire staff of VSEC. You all took a really scary and stressful situation and helped us through every step of the way. Finn sends his love and many thanks as well <3

The staff we're very nice and considerate, I had to put my 12yr old cat to sleep yesterday. The doctor took the time to explain everything that she was about to do. So that we wouldn't be surprised by anything that she was doing.

They took great care of my cat when he got sick from toxic flea medication. They called and kept me informed as he was in the ICU. 12 hours and he was coming home back to normal. Their process of checking in and out was a breeze. Conshohocken seems to have a good system...better then the other VSEC I have used.

My dog recently became ill with a mysterious sickness, so our family vet referred us here. Even with the pandemic, they were very prompt and helpful. We took Gotham in as an emergency case, and they took excellent care of him. Dr. Java was fantastic and took plenty of time to explain what was going on and to make sure I felt comfortable moving forward. Fortunately, Gotham has made a full recovery! I hope I never have to use VSEC again - but I feel secure knowing I have them as an option if my pets ever need it. Thanks so much, VSEC!!

First time ever needing emergency care for a pet. They assessed my pets condition and immediately worked to save his life. The Doctor updated me as needed on my pets’s health. The staff was courteous and professional. Overall I am pleased. I hope I never have another pet emergency, if I do then VSEC ridge pike will be my go to vet for emergency care. Thanks Dr. Frankle

Im giving this facility a two strictly because I have met good doctors, but the facility itself runs an awful operation. Majority of the receptionists are extremely rude and on top of that, as I sit in the lobby I hear them talking about confidential patient and payment information with a lobby full of people. Other peoples financial situations should not be discussed in this type of setting. Its highly unprofessional and has turned me off from this place completely. The one receptionist has rolled her eyes at half of the clientele, including myself. I think a lot of the issues here boil down to the communication between the front end and the backend. The doctor will tell you one thing, but the techs and the receptionists have no idea or vice versa. I would not recommend this facility, especially this location. I have had much better experiences at a handful of other veterinary hospitals.
