My poor kitty injured her leg and they squeezed us in today first thing, so we didn't have to go to ER vet. They lovingly gave Jordi the care she needed and really took the time to explain everything to me. Im so grateful she's out of pain tonight and on the mend. Thanks VCA!

Wanted close to $3,000 for a tooth extraction on my dog. Wouldn't give me a definite price though. Rescheduled my initial appointment three times. Seems like they were more concerned about up-selling me to more tests and different treatments than what I brought my pup in for.

I took my sick and vomiting dog to this vet and all they did was put her in a cage without any water and she she was in that cage for at least 6 hours without being examined by a doctor. I was told that she was not critical so they would get to her when they had time. She had not eaten for serval days and was just drinking water and peeing almost every hour. I feel like she was totaling ignored because she was not at death's door. When I called about her I was told around 9:30 PM that it would be several hours before the doctor would examine her. I went and picked her up and brought her home. She went straight to her water dish and drank for almost a minute. All the vets in area are booked up until Aug and Sept. This also is the case with McKenzie Animal Hospital which I have been using for the past 7 years. All the vets in the area are sending patients the Emergency. I am very upset with how my dog and I were treated here and will never go there again. I would also not send and of my friends there. The service was absolutely deplorable. At this time I am treating her myself and hope she will get better soon. DON'T TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO THIS VET FOR ANY REASON!!!!

Today I brought my dog in to get treatment for his UTI before taking a trip to North Dakota. Let me just start by saying that my overall experience at VCA Mckenzie hospital was definitely a positive one. I didn't have to wait long after my appointment time to get my dog into the building and the staff were very kind the entire time. With that being said I did experience a few things that left me quite a bit disgruntled and concerned. At least three times they tried to push me to get a full panel of blood work and a urinalyses done for my dog even after I expressed to them that additional testing wasn't something I was financially capable of at the time. I understand that they're just trying to eliminate any other possibilities to make sure they're giving giving him a correct diagnosis but when I spoke to the vet about his symptoms after she examined him we both verbally confirmed that it was unlikely to be another illness. The vet also had some recommendations for some special shampoo and oral flea medications to help with the overall health and happiness of my dog. I really appreciated this but due to my financial constraints I asked them to just make a list of the product names for me on the side so I could look into buying them later once I found a new vet in North Dakota. I guess something got lost in the communication because when they called me to confirm the invoice they had added every single medication and shampoo the vet recommended to my bill as well as the blood work and urinalysis on top of it all. I politely asked the lady on the phone if she really thought that the urinalysis and the blood work was necessary when the vet had just expressed to me that everything seemed perfectly fine with my dog and he didn't have any alarming symptoms. At the end they wanted to charge me $900 for everything but after I told them to take off the extra medications as well as the unnecessary tests they wanted to run the total came down to just $170. After paying my invoice over the phone a very polite lady brought out the antibiotics I'd need to treat my dog's UTI as well as the paperwork with all the information on it and then cheerfully wished me a safe trip. Then I realized they had forgotten to give me my dog back. After about 10 or 15 minutes of waiting for someone to bring my dog out to me I realized that nobody was coming and called them to ask what was going on. The lady on the phone sounded kinda confused when I said that nobody had brought me my dog and said "well let me see if we have them still" which immediately made me nervous that they had given my dog to the wrong person or something. After another 10 minutes of waiting they finally brought my dog back out to me and the only thing they could say was "sorry that happened." I tried to be understanding so I said "Yeah, probably just had a shift change or something eh?" and her response was "No, I wish I could say that." That kinda freaked me out a bit so I just got my dog loaded up into the car as the lady who brought him out to me said another "Yeah, sorry." before walking back inside without any further explanation. Now I don't know the protocols for what goes on inside a vets office but somehow there was a miscommunication among the staff and nobody thought to ask if they had returned my pet to me or not. I had to call the office and bring it to their attention that they literally somehow misplaced an entire 100lbs worth of large dog. If I had just left how long would it have taken them to notice they had a whole extra dog sitting around? Would they have called me to come get him or would they just not notice him and leave him locked up in a kennel overnight? Definitely not questions you ever want to be asking yourself when you take a member of your family to the doctor and you have to wait outside in the car due to covid rules. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake but the animals are literally the entire basis for the job so I really don't understand how anyone could let something like that happen. Wouldn't go again.

BEWARE!! My last visit was a nightmare: I had to have my beloved dog euthanized because I couldn't afford necessary treatment. The vet, Mary Arpaia, made it even more painful than it needed to be for both my pet and I. I went through a similar situation 25 years ago, so I know that both dog and human can be gently eased through the process. She began by suggesting I give Wendy to someone who could afford thousands of dollars; It had already drained my savings to find out what was wrong. I was in tears, cuddling my dog, and staff made several attempts to convince me of alternatives... after several phone conversations in which I was very clear about my decision. And then she said she needed to sedate Wendy first: sounds simple, doesn't it? But they caused horrid, unnecessary pain, and took her from my arms after saying they wouldn't . Yelping, she lost consciousness while frightened, in pain, and separated from her human. In the end, my guilt was compounded: the horror of the situation will remain with me for a long time. And it didn't need to be this way.

Zero stars if I could. Started with VCA for 2 dogs August 2020. We have never been allowed to meet the vet. We have had nothing but unnecessary challenges with communication. I think it best to simply say GO TO ANOTHER VET PERIOD.

Just have to say I felt very blessed to have the care and kindness shown to me and one of my very best friends in this life on his last day from everyone here. What an awful day that could not possibly had any good other than the extreme kindness and compassion we were shown from this group that on our first and last visit ???????????????????? I kno I will be bringing my other buddy back here from now on. Thank you all so very much

We've been taking our Service Dog for all her medical care to them for about 3 year's. The staff is great, they're very courteous and caring. They take the time to help us understand exactly what her medical conditions are.

Really nice people but I feel like this is literally the most expensive place to take your animal. I find it unfair when all you want to do is help your best friend.

We had our kitty euthanized today and the staff at McKenzie Animal Hospital were absolutely amazing. We took our Middy here because it was the only place with an available opening on the weekend for what we needed to do. With the pandemic going on, I was so worried that I wasn't going to he able to be with my cat during the process, and I really wanted to be there with her from start to finish. I was able to be with Middy 99% of the time and the person who was assisting us (Ronnie was her name I think) was incredible. She was very kind and I could tell she truly cared about animals. She even teared up with me after Middy passed and I was saying goodbye. The whole process and environment was actually quite comforting for me. I was terrified to let my kitty go since I had never put an animal down and I actually wanted to do it at home (nobody had an opening) but things here were so smooth, calming, and professional. Middy wasn't scared at all, and as she fell asleep in my lap, I knew I had made the right choice for her. She is resting comfortably now, and no longer in pain. Thank you for helping me through this enormously difficult time, and for providing the love and care you provide for your patients, even if it's the very first time and the very last time you see them, as was Middy's case. She and my family really appreciate you, and we will definitely be bringing our other animals here.

Treated my Northern Caiman Lizard with great care. Ran some blood tests without putting him under even though he is not yet tame. Thank you for taking a look at such short notice. It means a lot.
