They saved our heeler mix. We've a regular vet but they weren't equipped for her need. She was in bad shape. I called every emergency vet and regular vet within 50 miles, and these folks right here were the only ones who were able to get her in as an emergency. Our family cannot thank your establishment enough. The people here are just the best! Y'all are super kind, and knowledgeable. You made sure our girl was comfortable and took care of her.. I won't waste my time anywhere else in an emergency with or pets again.

I have been here before several years ago, they were overpriced then, I called today with a emergency and they can't even see my pet, they are seriously understaffed if they can't take in an emergency and they are even more overpriced now! Ridiculous you can't get in!

They got my sick kitty in right away. Didn't have to wait long to get him seen. Very nice service and answered all my questions! For an emergency vet, prices were reasonable. They treated my cat with care and offered treatments within my price range. I highly recommend them for emergency care.

I have had to take my cat here twice, both times during this pandemic. The first time was July 2020 and the second time was November 2021. There was a wait but it was very reasonable. The doctors explained everything to me very well and the staff called the following day to check up on how my cat was doing. Everyone I’ve interacted with has been kind and professional, which is amazing especially considering everything they’ve had to deal with during this pandemic.

Was ready to put dog down because he is very old and wouldn’t eat for 3 days. Doctor suggested a treatment and I was glad we tried it. By the time I got home he was back to normal and begging for food again. Also got seen very quickly at a time when most places wouldn’t help us.

Horrible customer service I called this place to let them know that I couldn't come in for appt today because my household has covid and the girl on the phone just kept trying to explain to me how important it was to come in for the dog. She literally cared less about the fact that I had covid could barely breathe and was coughing like crazy. Extremely inconsiderate people, condescending and just rude.

They have been quick to see our animals issues in emergency situations, however, make sure you talk to them about medication prices. We were given carprofen for our dog and it cost $200.00! We got the same dosage and amount of pills from Wilvet and they charged us $19.65. Pretty ridiculous in the price difference there.

We woke up Yesturday to our cat not acting like himself. He was always in our faces in the morning and ready for snuggles. He didn't want to be touched or held. I knew right away something was wrong. I had my husband hold him while I examined him. He had some nasty green and white discharge coming from his mouth. I knew in my gut we had to get him in immediately! I unfortunately had to work. I called my boss and told her what was going on. After about two hour she said I could just leave and close for the day. I called every emergency vet clinic in Vancouver where we live. Everyone was short staffed and at full compacity. I started calling into beaverton, seaside, portland, Oregon city and more. Everyone was full. I finally found a place in Hillsboro that said they would take him. When we arrived they refused to even look at him because in the 45 minutes it took us to get there they went from a 5 hour wait to 12 hours. By now he was in so much pain. By now we felt there was no saving him but we where still hopeful. I called VCA and explained the situation. She said that there was a long wait but took our info and got him on the triage list. When we arrived the tech came out to ask us a few questions. As soon as she saw him she took him in. The vet called us within minutes. She said without testing she couldn't be sure but it could be a sinus tumor or something similar. But he most likely wouldn't even make it through testing. Unfortunately we did have to say good by to our little old man. It was the hardest thing we have had ever had to do. I have lost pets but have never had to make a decision like that. The vet tech was sooo nice and understanding. Her customer service was above and beyond. We couldn't bring our selves to watch him go so she made sure somebody was with him. It still hurts so much but knowing he was in good hands was good. I would highly recomend this clinic!

VCA in South Salem was very kind and caring when we took our old dog in for a bad infection today. They got us in right away and we definitely felt good about his treatment. Prices for prescriptions were almost double what they should be, but I guess that's just part of emergency care. Overall, good experience.

My boy was diagnosed with bone cancer yesterday. They were very thorough & didnt rush the diagnosis, even though they were super, super busy. The staff was very kind & empathic. They provided information for end of life options and info for grief therapy too. Our family is very appreciative of the services provided. And the frankness of the difficult conversations. We will return there to lay my boy to rest when its time. Logyn's Mama

Took my cat here after having the most awful experience at Salem Veterinary ER. My cat was misdiagnosed at the first clinic, she was not to be taken off oxygen but they told me I had to leave since they were closing and hope she didn’t die on the way to VCA. The vet came out within minutes and explain my cat was not going to make it and that it was not at all what the original vet had said. Was brought in and given the most compassion I had seen all day by staff while going through one of the hardest experiences. I was allowed to hold my fur baby while she passed in my arms. Staff brought cold water and tissues and major support through it all. PSA never take your animal to Salem Veterinary clinic on Market street. All they care about is money and will continue ramping the price if you come in close to when they close. And thank you again to the staff of VCA for everything they did for me and my cat, she deserved this level of care from the beginning.

If I could’ve gave this place zero stars I would’ve. Absolutely worst experience I’ve ever had at a vet. I brought my English bulldog puppy there because his eye was red and we thought he might’ve scratched it or something. They literally just said all he’ll be fine just use eyedrops no check up or anything. Then the vet comes in and she pretty much makes you feel like a bad pet owner because of your animals natural common problems. I haven’t been so uncomfortable in so long. Finally the person that comes in and checks you out so you can pay and leave says oh it doesn’t matter he doesn’t matter his pet doesn’t come to this clinic to his co worker. How rude and unprofessional? So your saying since my dog isn’t on your regular roster your not going to give him the same care as you would any other animal. This experience literally blew my mind. Don’t waste your time or money. You will be let down. And your pet deserves better treatment then what this place provides.

Thank You guys! We went in as our cat Dora was having some unusual behavior and we thought it might be a UTI. We called Tuesday and were able to get in the next day. They were very helpful and sent us home with a kit to get a sample, also gave us meds for to destress her in case that was causing UTI symptoms. The two people helping us were very sweet and did a fantastic job of getting her taken care of and checked out.

I was parked outside 20 min before closing to get my dog seen. He was bleeding from the mouth pretty bad. In a 2 minute phone call, the receptionist advised me 3 different times that they were close to closing so they wouldn’t help. She was so rude. I’m worried about my dog and all you are about is closing. The receptionist probably needs to find another business to be in if at a minimum you do want to look at my dog. So now I had to drive across town to market street to get him looked at.

My sweet boy was hit by a car a few days ago. This place took the absolute best care of him. They were all so nice and helpful. This was the second time we've taken him there, and both times they showed compassion, and they all seemed to really care for each and every pet they treated. Highly recommend!

Got here just before 8am to ensure I could get my outdoor cat in for an exam(was worried about him having another UTI). Waited over 2 hours in the parking lot before they were able to get my cat in. Because they want US saying in our cars. I also saw atleast two other people show up well after me and walk right in with their animal as I sat and waited. I thought maybe I could bring my cat in for an exam before I have to work at 12pm. Got here at 8...it's been over two hours and now I'm not sure if in gonna be able to get to work on time. Plus this place far over priced. I'm likely never coming here again unless it's the only option.

Took my cat here because I suspected he had a UTI. I had that confirmed 3 hours later and $300 later. Did an ultrasound I did not request before doing a urinalysis, and also gave me a gabapentin a pain medication I also did not request in addition to the antibiotic. A uranalysis and an antibiotic should not take 3 hours, or cost $300. Won't return again.

We will never go back to this animal hospital. We felt that we were overcharged and that the vet took little interest because we didn't want to spend $1200 on our dog. Our bill came to $575 and feel that the vet didn't really do anything for our dog. He was in the same shape he was in when we left. We went to a different hospital the next day and for $275 our dog started to perk up and get back to his old self.

Just called to find out some information on what they could do for my dog with extreme heat stroke. I was screamed at by the male receptionist! Is this an emergency or Hold!? I couldn't get the words out fast enough, and then screamed at again!! I will try to hold my baby on through the weekend. And then call our local vet! Aumsvile animal clinic. She probably won't make it through the weekend, but I will not trust thease angry people with my baby girl!! Shame on your front desk help!!!!

I couldn't be happier with the care my pup has received. All the staff is friendly and caring, Dr. Allen is the sweetest! After each puppy vaccination, they have called the next day to check in on how my pup is doing. Their puppy care plan is definitely worth it.

Rude man said “get comfortable, it’ll be 6-8 hours to be seen”. Then got mad and huffed and walked away when we wondered if it would be faster to take the animal to a after hours emergency vet. Poor administration, understaffed, extremely rude.

Had a complete dental checkup with 8 teeth pulled. The staff was fantastic. My Chow received excellent care. I got the impression they really care about the animals they are trusted with. They are pricey, but you can trust that you are going to get the best care for your pet. I have been going to VCA for over 15 years and would not take my pets anywhere else.

Understaffed and overworked? Told me to expect to wait 6-8 hours for my cat to be seen. After we waited over an hour to be assessed. After calling in the morning and them saying they could see her as an emergency. That seems inhumane to expect any animal to wait in a carrier that long. When the tech Erik came out to assess her he was already dismissive and curt with the way he was asking the questions. He said “get comfy, it’s going to be a while” in a bad attitude sort of way so I asked what he means by a while. 6-8 hours wait is unreasonable to expect anyone to wait. If they were upfront and said if you animal is still breathing, don’t bother I would not have bothered taking a sick cat in the car and waiting over an hour to be scoffed at. Pretty sure they guy freaking out going back and forth to his car had his cat die while waiting for them. They brought the carrier back real quick. I would have been better off taking her to the Market street hospital yesterday for sure. I called the emergency vet in Woodbury (had already called 12 vets in Marion County) She advised that the cat seemed stable and try calling her regular vet again. So the cat will be seen tomorrow but still could have saved everyone time and stress if the VCA realizes they need to start turning patients away if they won’t staff their hospitals to meet their demands.

I have never been so brushed off in my entire life. I called them 20 minutes before my arrival letting them know I would be needing an emergency visit. I got there and waiting 30 minutes in 90 degree heat with my 110 pound dog in the car. When someone finally came out it was the rudest woman I have ever come across at that establishment. After repeating myself over and over about what was wrong (she apparently doesn’t have good hearing?) I asked how long it would be as I was paying the emergency visit fee to make sure my dog was taken care of ASAP. I got a “That’s nice. I have seven other “emergency” visits so you’ll just have to wait your turn” AS IF I DIDN’T CALL AHEAD TO PREVENT THIS LMAO I WILL NOT BE PAYING AN EMERGENCY FEE TO BE SEEN IN TWO HOURS. Maybe no one told her but “emergency” means RIGHT NOW. Too many people? Get more staff or let people know right away you’re slammed. It’s not rocket science. If I could give a 0/10 I absolutely would.

Will never return here. I took my dog here because he was straining to urinate. They gave him to the vet tech name Eric. Let me tell you this guy is something else. He does not care about your pet at ALL! His attitude towards you seems like you are bothering him and he belittles you. I personally think he hates his job. He returned my pet within 2 hours. When I took him home he still wasn't urinating. I called to notify them, they connected me with him since he was the one to help my dog. He told me to wait until the evening to see if he will urinate it was already 2 hours since he was home. I told him its been a couple hours. So then he tells me to wait a few more hours. I end up waiting another hour and calling back. By this time Eric is irritated with me and then gets on the phone to tell me what would I like him to do. I then told him I am bringing him back so they can look at him again. He then told me that he will not take my dog and if I don't like the services I can go else where, then went on to hang up on me. When I called back to ask for his name the receptionist acted like she didn't know who I was talking about and giving me the run around.

I recently lost my GSD, Haus & these people were amazingly helpful during this extremely difficult time. They were so nice on the phone and in person. My family received a card from them today in the mail & it means so much to the kiddos & I. Thank you all so much ❤

High cost. Had an appointment for a spay and a quote for almost $600+. When I inquired as to why, I was told, by the vet, "that if this was a human it would be much more". REALLY? I researched cost at numerous places and found they did the same procedure for at most half the cost!! Seems to me the money means more than the care to some vets here.
